Dramatic sustainable house designed for relaxed holiday living by Mapleton local Philip Boorman who has many awards for his outstanding Architectural work and furniture designs.

Located on the escarpment in the centre of the 125 acre site. This privileged isolation has allowed the house design to be opened to the expansive surrounding valley and mountains by the extensive use of timber framed bi-fold doors and windows. Solar panels generate the power supply and roof water is collected in tanks for filtered reuse within the home.

The original survey plan of 1904 noted:
"All the country here on shown is of an Extremely Rugged and Broken nature."
This rugged landscape has protected the area from encroachment by subdivisions for over 100 years, providing flora and fauna with largely undisturbed area for species listed as endangered, such as the Coxen Fig-Parrot and the Regent Honey eater, to thrive.

This lower floor of our home provides all the comforts of a 5 star apartment in a rural setting. Enjoy exploring the gardens or just looking across them to the Coast.

We are close to Mapleton and access to all that the Blackall Ranges has to offer but without the traffic and noise, being located at the end of a cul-de-sac.

Tea, coffee and breakfast makings are included. It is a short walk or a 5 minute drive to local cafes and restaurants, wedding venues or forest walks.

A separate entrance with a parking space enables total privacy with as much or little contact with hosts as desired. There is a PowerPoint near the car park if you need to charge your electric vehicle.

We are located close to sections of the Hinterland Great Walk and Peter is happy to offer experienced guidance on tracks.

We are also only 30 minutes from beautiful beaches and the Sunshine Coast airport.

This really is a monster apartment with spacious bedroom, kitchenette, comfortable living and dining areas, separate lounge/TV room and extensive outdoor patios on the east and north sides. In addition to cooking facilities a BBQ is available on the patio. Warm up by the outside chiminea if the night is cool.

Be warned - it is pretty quiet - the most noise you’ll hear is the birds!

No basic condiments. Fridge small for the max number of people this house sleeps. Fire pit was great but take wood for the fire. Not enough wine/champagne glasses." - "Beautiful house. The space
We have a beautiful 1915 queenslander that was moved to mapleton in 1990 and built under to create a studio apartment (kitchenette no full kitchen). We have fully renovated the studio and now offering it for occasional weekend stays in our beautiful Mapleton area.
We are a family of 5 (including the dog) who live in the main house upstairs.
Our garden includes a large raised garden bed that has been fully planted out with natives shrubs and flowers this is connected to our Fujiclean waste water treatment plant. We are an eco friendly property and supply all your shower products to keep this system running as it needs to.
We also have a small veggie garden, citrus trees, donut peach tree and some beautiful plum trees.
Quiet street with lots of parking.

All of the downstairs unit is exclusively yours to use. We do use some storage down there as we purpose built a large wardrobe for this. However there is a built in aspect just for guests with draws, shelves and hanging space. We have private signs or locks on areas we wish to keep private. We do not access downstairs if we have guests however we do still access our garden to water plants etc.

If you would like a rustic loaf of homemade sourdough please let us know 48hours prior to arrival. $15 cash for bread baked on the day of your arrival.

Located on a quiet road close to Mapleton Centre, a free standing two bedroom cottage. Renovated extensively throughout it is a few minutes walk to everything Mapleton has to offer - cafes, walks, Lilyponds Park, historical trails, and Mapleton Public House. Cozy and private a great spot for a getaway or longer stay with the comforts of a modern home. This is an existing 5 star AirBnb with a new host (hence o review history). Discount for first two May bookings.

The space
We have recently adopted this charming cottage in the heart of Mapleton. The cottage was built circa originally 1950, and has been extended and modernized inside. It is really a whole small house with the comforts of home. It has ready access via the back yard to the Mapleton Lilyponds park, and through that to the Mapleton township.

The property has previously been AirBnB listed with very high reviews. Unfortunately with a change in ownership those reviews are not retained on AirBnB, so we are offering a discount for the first two May bookings.

We love and live in the area ourselves.

The whole property is available, including the extensive back yard, and outdoor eating and leisure areas.

The big red front door is the primary entrance, the key to which is in the key safe adjacent to the door.

There is a paved driveway access to the carport at the rear of the cottage. Be careful with large vehicles because the access is narrow.

Other things to note
Water wise - Rain water is collected and used - it is filtered and suitable for drinking. There is an additional filter jug provided (located in the fridge) should you want to use that for drinking water.

Please conserve the water as there is not an inexhaustible supply - it is rain dependent.

Pets - dogs only please. They are welcome. We are dog owners and appreciate holidaying with him.

Please bring appropriate bedding for your dog, and clean up after them. Please keep them off all furniture and carpets.

The large bathroom with shower and clawfoot bath is perfect for dressing up or dressing down; the rear courtyard and firepit faces West for filtered Sunsets; and the huge kitchen with fireplace and central island is ideal for curated plates and conversation.

Outdoors the North facing deck is an entertainer’s dream, with a dining table that seats 8-10 guests that looks out into our favourite forest of Mapleton green. Just steps away, explore the gardens perfect for wanderings and wonderings and (weeding!) though guests with toddlers or younger will need to keep a watchful eye as there are no railings. Hopefully the double hanging chair and double daybed ensures plenty of relaxing/reading options for little legs (and yours) at this tranquil retreat.

The entire home is yours to use, though if staying by yourself (or with a chosen companion), we kindly ask you to not use the other rooms.

Other things to note
This is a house in nature surrounded by bushland so animals of all shapes and sizes will be around. Yes this means spiders and snakes which aren't everyone's taste! Just tread loudly (and carefully) around the gardens, and try and shoo out any 8 legged friends (if you're brave enough).

Relax and unwind at Mermaid’s Mountain Retreat. You will be close to everything to make this your perfect getaway…. Take a very short stroll into the artisan village of mapleton to enjoy the local foodie experiences of Italian, Spanish & Hungarian cuisines, and the paddock to plate menu from the popular “Mapleton pub”. Meander along local “Great walks” trails or visit Kondalilla falls for a dip in a
stunning local swimming hole. Natural attractions can be accessed by foot or short drive.

The space
Mermaid’s Mountain Retreat- welcome to our 3 bedroom, one bathroom, one living area and study home. This is a perfect property for four adults travelling with two children, or could comfortably sleep a group of 5 adults. Our property has everything you need to enjoy your stay. Enjoy the welcome hamper presented on your arrival and please use any pantry items during your stay. All towels, linen and bedding are provided.

Guest access
Guests can use all parts of the home. The only restricted area is around the perimeter of the granny flat (located downstairs under the carport).

Other things to note
We have a family member who lives in the granny flat on the property. The granny flat is completely separate from the main house and so there is no interaction required between you. This is not a house for parties and will be most suited to families or adult groups travelling together (no pets permitted).
The property is on a main road from Nambour to Mapleton, and whilst it is surrounded by lovely greenery for privacy and a peaceful outlook, sone noise from motorbikes and cars may be noticeable at times.
Finally - this is a beautiful home in a very special location. The ability to walk out to lux g and dinner at 4 different restaurants in town makes it a lovely place to unwind as you can enjoy a couple of drinks and not have to drive anywhere. There are multiple natural sites very close to our home for you to explore, whether you fancy a hike or a swim. And after all that- the beach is only a 25 minute drive so you can enjoy all aspects of the coast and hinterland during your stay.

Woody Grove Retreat is nestled amongst 21 lush acres, with abundant bird life and stunning coastal views. The Lodge and Annex are attached yet both self contained and simply stunning when used as one big house. The bedrooms are ensuite and the King beds can all be split into twins, so including the singles and one queen bed, you can sleep 14 in separate beds.

The space
Woody Grove is a simply grand experience offering luxurious yet functional space with privacy and 5* comfort and traditional charm. Convenient parking and access. We discourage any outside noise in the evenings out of consideration for our neighbours and we are unable to accommodate garden weddings. I've outlined below the accommodation on offer.
