Tamarind Street Cottage is a stylish, lovingly restored four-bedroom cottage overlooking the vibrant country town of Maleny. The Cottage is 3 minutes drive to the Maleny Golf Club. We are central to the Award Winning wedding venues such as Maleny Manor, Tiffanys, The Old Dairy and Goodwater Ridge.

The Cottage has two queen bedrooms and two double rooms individually warm and inviting allowing guests to enjoy the contemporary country aesthetics giving each bedroom a warm sense of belonging. A porta cot with fresh linen and highchair is also provided for guests staying with infants. The renovated bathroom includes shower, vanity and toilet. There is also an additional separate toilet.

The laundry is fully equipped with everything you will need for your stay and all laundry and kitchen products are provided.

The Cottage is furnished with a selection of cozy leather lounges, comfortable antique furniture and hand-woven rugs on the original family home hardwood floors. The fireplace fills the lounge room and formal dining with a warm ambience during the cooler months for guests to entertain or simply relax. We provide a generous supply of wood and kindling for your stay. Should you need additional of either wood or kindling, both are available at the IGA in the main street. The original 1950s country kitchen adjoins the Dining Conservatory creating a light filled relaxed connected space overlooking the garden.

The Cottage is fully airconditioned to ensure guest comfort all year round.

We have a Strictly No Animal/Pet Policy!! with respect to future guest requirements and the native wildlife that traverses the property. Tamarind Street Cottage does not charge any additional cleaning fees with your booking.

- In order to not disturb the wildlife that call the lake their home, we do not allow swimming, fishing or boating on the lake.
- This is a private battleaxe acreage block with a 300 metre long driveway that leads up to a parking pad where there is space for two cars and is dedicated to cabin parking.
Other things to note
The lake, dam and other areas of the property are ungated. Because of this, we respectfully ask that children are supervised at all times when on the property and that you should consider this prior to booking with us.

The Residence is all on one level. There are four or five steps up to the entry path from the car parking areas. There are five steps up to the landing to get to the front door. No disabled access is provided.

Bedrooms One and Two have Queen Beds and ensuite access. Bedroom three has a double bed. The fourth room is a very nice interior study, which may be used as an extra bedroom. It does not have external windows but opens to the corridor only.

- Guests are welcome to stroll around all areas of the property, but will be limited to accessing the area of the property where we reside in the main house at the back of the property.
- In order to not disturb the wildlife that call the lake their home, we do not allow swimming, fishing or boating on the lake.
- This is a private battleaxe acreage block with a 300 metre long driveway that leads up to a parking pad where there is space for two cars and is dedicated to cabin parking.
Other things to note
The lake, dam and other areas of the property are ungated. Because of this, we respectfully ask that children are supervised at all times when on the property and that you should consider this prior to booking with us.

A cozy 139-square-foot tiny home nestled among rolling green hills, surrounded by 80-year-old gum trees that create spectacular sunrise and sunset silhouettes, with dazzling night skies for you to enjoy.

This compact space features fresh bed sheets and the option to enjoy breakfast in bed or on the deck. In the evening, unwind by the pre-set fire pit, making your holiday homes experience truly unforgettable.

It is equipped with air conditioning, a kitchenette with cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities, including an eco-friendly cassette toilet with a removable waste holding tank, a hand basin, and a gas-heated shower.

ACCOMMODATION DESCRIPTION

‘Everest’ provides private and separate ground-level accommodation for up to nine guests with a large living space flowing out onto wrap-around terraces and stunning gardens. There are three beautifully appointed bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a full kitchen.

The three bedrooms all have stunning garden outlooks, queen-sized beds, high ceilings, fans, heaters and tiled floors. The eastern bedroom offers delightful garden views through glass sliding doors. The middle bedroom is spacious with a picture garden window. The third bedroom has direct access to a private courtyard setting and is ideally suited for a family of three, with a queen and a king single. Beds all have quality pure cotton bedlinen, warm duvets and blankets.

The living-dining area offers spacious, casual entertaining with Italian terracotta floor tiles and two large sofas (one of which is also a pull-out bed). A well-stocked bookshelf provides hours of reading and the space flows seamlessly into the garden via a clever moving wall. The room also has a large dining table and smart TV.

There are two bathrooms. While not ultramodern, one has a heated deep spa bath, shower, and toilet. The second bathroom has a shower, which can also be used as a bath for small children, toilet, and make-up vanity.

Tea and excellent coffee are provided along with milk and Continental breakfast supplies for your first morning. If guests would like extra supplies this can easily be arranged, just let us know and we can order it for you. The kitchen is fully equipped, with a refrigerator, fan-forced oven, hotplate and microwave, crockery, cutlery, coffee machine and more.

On arrival, guests are greeted by the beautiful grounds - a level, tennis court-sized, grassy playing/photo area, much loved for wedding photography. Discover water features, bird baths, a Tuscan-style courtyard and many other private spots to sit and enjoy nature.

The 'Lakehouse' garden pavilion is ideal for balmy nights outside to enjoy alfresco dining. A large BBQ is available for you to cook your own meals and overlooks the gardens.

There are too many species of plants to mention, but the azaleas, huge camellias, orchids, heliconias, hydrangeas, and more will delight you during your stay. The orchard, when in season, has a variety of fruits for you to savour, including juicy oranges, mandarins, lemons and grapefruit.

This newly completed suite is similar in size and layout to a compact hotel room – there is no kitchen included. It features a comfortable Queen Bed made up with luxurious 100% Organic cotton sheets, along with a bar counter and kettle area to prepare tea and coffee plus a small bar fridge. The generous ensuite bathroom is fully tiled. We also provide unlimited Wifi and reverse cycle air-conditioning.

The Guesthouse is the ideal location to be able to walk the 200 to 300 meters along the main road into Maleny town, and enjoy all the cafes, galleries, restaurants and shopping that makes Maleny so special.

In addition to the Ribbonwood Studio itself, we have a few common spaces that guests can enjoy during their stay. Central to the four apartment and studio rooms is a common lounge TV area that will allow you to spread out and relax. For those who might like to eat in without much in the way of cooking, we have a microwave, plates and cutlery available in the laundry room, plus a dining table and chairs in a converted garage space at the rear.

We do not live on site but are only a few minutes way in case of any need.

The Guest House is just 300 meters easy walk to the Maleny Hotel , the supermarket and and all the delightful cafes and shops of Maleny. You will not find anywhere closer than this. Maleny is just over one hour easy drive from Brisbane airport; the Landsborough train station is a fifteen minute drive down the Blackall Range. Incredible beaches stretch along the Sunshine Coast from Caloundra to Mooloolaba and Maroochydore, about 30 - 40 minutes away, plus there is bushwalking, whale -watching, gliding, snorkeling and surfing, and of course world class restaurants.

There are comfortable sofa and chairs with cushions and throws for the cooler months, not forgetting the wood fire which is a delight to sit around in winter. There is also reverse cycle air con if you prefer. Smart tv. Vintage doors open onto the sunny patio.

KITCHEN/DINING ROOM - The fitted kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. New gas cooktop and oven, large fridge/freezer, and dishwasher which are ideal for longer stays, as are the many appliances. Tea, coffee, olive oil, salt, pepper, sugar etc are supplied.

NB: Both bedrooms have doors to the outside which we keep locked for security reasons.

BATHROOM - Modern bathroom with powerful shower over a long bath. Ample storage and surface area for all your toiletry needs. The toilet is separate to the bathroom.

LAUNDRY - The laundry is within the good sized bathroom. A washing machine and tumble drier are neatly concealed behind bi-fold doors as are an iron and ironing board.

PATIO - The house is accessed via the fully covered patio. There is comfortable outdoor seating plus dining table and chairs for relaxed alfresco meals . This area is flanked by hanging plants and trees from the garden.

GARDEN - There is a grass area on the right of the driveway when entering the carport. Children or your dog can play here but please note that this area is not fenced and people accessing the cottage behind ALBA will walk past it.

CARPORT/DRIVEWAY - There is a two car carport, however only the right hand space is allocated to ALBA Cottage. There is an area to reverse into to ease exiting the steep driveway.

On entering the carport, guests access ALBA Cottage via the white lattice gate. There is a key safe where you will find the large key to the double doors on the patio.

We love all animals but have made the cottage available to guests with DOGS ONLY. Sorry, no cats for the reasons stipulated below.

If you have another pet you would like to bring, please advise us in a message and we will assess each request.

eg I know someone that has a pet pig. I would not want a pet to stay at the property.

WHY NO CATS:
Unknown to them, a friend had a guest stay with a cat. The cat used furniture as a scratching post, made pulls in rugs and blankets with its claws. To make it worse, she was allergic to cats, as are many people.

WHEN STAYING WITH YOUR DOG:
Please bring your your dog's bed and food bowl with you and don't let it on the bed and furniture in the cottage.

Some guests roll up the rugs, especially with long-haired dogs. We really appreciate it if you choose to do this.

Please also pick up your dog's poop from the garden and dispose of it in an appropriate place.

The house has a lush native garden with lots of wildlife. It has large verandas and a cosy interior and is walking distance (10-15 minutes walk) from the main street.
Your bedroom has a queen size bed, hanging space, reading lamps and a chair. It is a bright room leading out to a spacious veranda with your own table and chairs.
Cafe's and bookshops abound and there are lots of interesting events such as visiting writers and a community film society.
If you want to relax and hang out this is the place to do it.

The space
For an overnight or weekend visit, the studio was uniquely designed for living within nature, with palms and an indoor garden growing in the living room and rainforest gardens lit up through the glass at night.

All guests are welcome to take advantage of our garden, sit by the waterlily dam, wander through the ancient rainforest, or for the more adventurous, a hike to the creek.

Garden activities, edible vegetable and seasonal fruit harvesting and earth to table meals are also available.

Extra Classes are available, and have been popular with our regular guests; $60 per hour (couples) include;

Our family have been active in wellness support for decades, and are great listeners, able to tease out unhelpful blocks in thinking and support emotional processing that may arise during detox.


The accommodation space is open plan, with basic comforts - king size tatami loft and single tatami mat bunks available. As in traditional Japan, thin foam mattresses used for sleeping are folded away in the morning.
* the loft area is 3mts x 3 mts without railings. Please be aware of the edge! We advise that sleep walkers sleep in the beautiful double bed window box sleeping area, used for sitting during the day.

We prefer a traditional Asian yogic lifestyle -our dining seating is around a low table with cushions upon the floor.

Lovely outdoor bamboo toilet and hot showers are separate from the studio, 15 meters stunning star walk at night. Situated at the edge of the garden forest, a lovely space for bird and possum watching! We use torches at night.
One of the outside showers is off the deck, under the tree ferns, if you like a completely natural experience.

The area is secluded and private from all other houses, with rainforest gardens on all sides. Lights on the decks at night create a spectacular backdrop to the glass living space. Often nocturnal animals, such as squirrel gliders and possums can be seen through the glass.

The decks and patio area provide outdoor dining.

The community is vegetarian, and we also cater for vegans. We appreciate non-veg food to be eaten in the restaurants in Maleny township, famous also for its variety of cafes and gourmet selections. ( Colin James cheesery is well known for it's award winning ice-cream made from local Maleny Dairy cream and Monica's cafe is especially valued for it's delicious weekend breakfasts.

Guest access
The access road to our home is 700 meters of both sealed and unsealed road. We suggest to drive slowly. Cars are parked below the house without cover. The path leading to the house has 15 steep steps through the garden. Umbrellas may be needed in the rainy season.
No shoes inside to keep the space suitable for yoga and relaxation on the floor.

Other things to note
The area is semi tropical rainforest with a variety of harmless insects and spiders in the garden.
We occasionally have a huntsmen spider in the house which we are happy to move. If you do have a spider fear, please let us know - our home might not be the best for your stay.

During forest walks we advise covered foot ware, and to check for tics when returning home.
We have access to the creek with small seasonal waterfalls for swimming, at certain times of the year.
Lacy Monitor lizards, large carpet pythons, and smaller shy species of snakes are also found on the property. These are protected, and non aggressive, although we advise to keep a sensible distance if spotted.

Now located in the heart of Maleny township is an authentic vintage Tiny House On Wheels (THOW) overlooking a heart-shaped spring-fed dam surrounded by lush subtropical forest, with vibrant birdsong and sounds of nature.

Just a 5-min rainforest walk along Obi Creek into town, this stay combines privacy, sustainability, and community spirit in one truly unique destination.

The space
🛖 The space

Step inside a sunlit, warmly decorated space that feels cozy, earthy, and alive with cream coloured ceiling drapery floating gently from above, with our recycled timber windows opening up to views of the dam and rainforest. Rich golden tones and thoughtful touches create this inviting, minimalist sanctuary and amazing Tiny space!

This self-contained eco Tiny House On Wheels features a comfy queen size bed, reverse-cycle air conditioning, a compact but functional kitchenette, filtered drinking water, a caravan toilet (don’t worry — it’s top of the line and super easy to use, instructions on the inside of the lid), and an eco-conscious shower system with a limited supply of solar hot water for little refreshes; quick showers are appreciated to help conserve resources.

We’ve included soft cotton linens, plush towels, and everything you need for a comfortable stay! And there are plenty of extras packed into the bedside compartments.

The house runs off solar power, with backup support from the main power on the property — so even off-grid, you’re never out of power.

Please note, this space is intentionally tiny. Pack light, and expect a beautiful balance of comfort and simplicity.

One of the greatest aspects about this property is its close location to town -- yet with surroundings that make you feel immersed in nature!

We do have neighbours and Showgrounds nearby and occasionally the peace will be the puncutated by sounds of suburbia; we we do also request our guests to likewise be discrete during their stay and keep loud noises, music and outdoor conversations down with respect to our valued local community.


🚪 Guest access

Access to the Tiny House is via a newly reconstructed driveway. You’ll have an off-street car parking bay comfortably enough for two vehicles right beside the accommodation, with additional parking spaces available nearby.

From your front door, you can wander through our property to the Maleny Showgrounds and discover our hidden gem, the Obi Obi Creek rainforest path to town walk in just 5 minutes. On your way, watch out for platypus in the creek, local musicians busking in the street, or maybe pick up a handmade book or jar of jam at one of the many local shops.

💬 Other things to note

We believe in slow living and connection here — with land, community, and self.

Our water comes from the town supply, and we provide a filtered jug in the fridge for chilled drinking water. The toilet is sanitized, cleaned and emptied after each stay. If you are doing an extended stay, just let us know when it needs emptying.

We are strictly pet-free, in respect of both wildlife and all of our guests with allergies.


🌳 The neighbourhood

Maleny is no ordinary country town. It's an eclectic mix of artists, farmers, musicians, and creative misfits, all living in a vibrant village where sustainability, creativity, and community matter. People are very friendly here and you can strike up a spontaneous conversation with almost any of our good locals, ask for tips and places to see most easily.

From live music nights to rainforest walks and award-winning dairy farms, conversation nights and local theatre - there’s always something happening here.

Stroll in to town for a Devonshire tea, explore nearby waterfalls, discover the magic of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, many hiking trails, or take in the wonder of a “dark skies” sunset followed by Milky Way stargazing from your deck.

Guest access
Access to the property is via a newly built 100-metre downhill rainforest driveway, suitable for all standard 2WD and 4WD vehicles.

Your private parking bay is located just above the accommodation and comfortably fits two vehicles.

As you descend the tree-lined driveway, please drive slowly — we recommend a maximum speed of 15 km/h — and we suggest arriving during daylight hours to better familiarise yourself with the surroundings.

A safe alternate parking bay is available near the kerbside entry, with additional roadside parking available on quiet Centenary Drive. Please ensure you don’t block any neighbouring driveways.

Upon arriving, you'll find the main (second) door unlatched and open ready to move in!

Firstly, we respectfully acknowledge the Jinibara people, the traditional custodians of the land on which our listing is located, and recognize their ongoing connection to this land and culture.

🌐 Internet & Mobile Reception
Wi-Fi is available — just ask us for the login.
Telstra has strong reception on-site; Optus and other carriers have limited but usable coverage outdoors.

🔥 Fire Safety
During dry spring and summer months, open fires are strictly prohibited due to high fire risk.
You're welcome to use our firepit BBQ grill — just check with us first if you’re unsure how to use it safely.

🚰 Water Quality
Our tap water is clean town water.
We also provide a filtered water jug in the fridge and complimentary bottled water (in the fridge) and an electric kettle for hot drinks

🪲 Critters & Ticks
Though rare, ticks can occur in this region. Our tiny house sits on a newly constructed site, mostly clear of long grass.

If you have a tick allergy, please contact us before booking to discuss seasonal conditions.

If you do find a tick:

Let us know — we’re happy to help with safe removal

Use fine tweezers to remove it from the base (avoid squeezing the body)

Clean the area with soap and apply an antibacterial like eucalyptus oil, tea tree oil, or Betadine (check under the sink)

🚽 Toilet & Waste Management
We use a high-end RV toilet — easy to use, clean, and perfect for off-grid living.
Quick instructions are inside the lid.
We empty and sanitize it after each stay.
For longer stays, keep an eye on the red/green indicator and let us know if it needs emptying.

🚿 Hot Water & Showers
Our hot water system heats 5L at a time and reheats in 5–10 minutes.
This is ideal for quick showers, and there’s a reminder sign above the tap to be water-wise.

🐾 Pet Policy
We have a strict no-pets policy, including small or low-shedding animals.
Unauthorized pets may incur a cleaning fee and affect your booking record.
If you have questions about your pet, please ask before booking.

Our solar-powered system has a strong battery bank and grid backup to ensure consistent power — even on cloudy days.

Enjoy a stylish stay at this centrally located place, right in the heart of the vibrant hinterland town of Maleny. This private room has all you need for a comfortable stay including a coffee machine, kettle, toaster, microwave, cutlery and plates. Free Foxtel & Netflix might keep you up late though! A cute front deck with a street view to watch the world go by, and it's only a 2 minute walk to the many cafes, shops, & a few bars, in Maleny. With an ensuite, air-con, fan & pet friendly.

The space
The Ground Floor Queen Room is a modern space, built in 2021, and part of the complex of the historic Old Church Maleny (built in 2013) which is right next door. The Ground Floor Queen Room a beautiful high pitched ceiling, a lovely large window over looking a little garden with Maple Street beyond. It's a little bit of tranquility and privacy but right in town. Park your car in our off street car park and enjoy a short walk to the many delights our town has to offer, from nature walks to op shopping, or a creative course you've always wanted to do, there's always something on in Maleny.

Guest access
We have an off street car park for guests use (1 car only per unit), and there is free street parking down the side street next to us (Beech Street). We have a complimentary common laundry if you need to do some washing & drying. It is available for use during the day.

Other things to note
There is complimentary Wi-Fi, Netflix and Foxtel (including the sports channel) for guest use. For our guests we have fresh organic milk (Barambah), complimentary coffee pods and salon quality (Joico) shampoo & conditioner.
