The drive way coming into the property could use some work, big pot hole as you are pulling in and the numbers on the cabin are hard to read, thank goodness they have a map on-line of where each cabin is. I've stayed at this property twice now in 2 different cabins, loved my stay both times. Stayed during the week and hardly anyone was there, so very quiet. Grocery store right across the street and downtown close enough to walk to. The wildlife is amazing, deer and elk frequent the property often and will walk almost right up on the porch. - "Save yourself the headache and do not book this property through hotels.com. I booked this property for a family of 5 for Memorial weekend. One of the most busiest weekends in Ruidoso. This property was booked in advance because we knew there was limited amounts of properties available. Our check in date was Friday and checkout date Monday. I booked this property through Hotels.com and arrived on the property Friday. We unpacked all our belongings for the long weekend and stocked up on groceries for our 4 day stay. We had an early baseball game Saturday, had lunch at the property and showered to get ready for our day to discover things to do with our 3 kids for the day. As we were leaving the property another family arrived stating that they booked the same property and were checking in. It turns out the property is listed on multiple sites and Hotels.com did not communicate our booking with the property managers and double booked the property. Our family was forced to vacate the property immediately. After explaining our situation with customer service and the property manager they refused to accept our receipt and booked confirmation. We let the property manager know we will need time to pack all our belongings, groceries and sort out the housing issue for the rest of the weekend. The property manager arrived threatened to call the police when they actively saw us packing our belongings. With no where to stay it took 2+hrs for Hotels.com to find us a place to stay. "

Purchased November 2020, the new owners have updated this clean and comfortable cabin with fresh décor, brand new furnace and main room gas fireplace (adios pellet stoves), king bed/mattress, toilets, beautiful exterior paint, new windows, new gutters, updated landscaping and flagstone backyard sitting area.

'The Duke' is a John Wayne inspired western themed space perfect for a quiet getaway to Ruidoso and located on the main road into town. This is the downstairs to our primary home that we have converted to 'The Duke' with John Wayne western décor, comfortable living room with mini fridge, microwave and coffee. Don't forget to peek into the kid friendly 'cupboard under the stairs' Harry Potter inspired closet. Relax each day on the 6' by 40' covered deck listening to the Rio Ruidoso river below

The space
This downstairs space is very casual and comfortable. Open the door and windows to hear the river running and enjoy the wooded surroundings on the deck. The space is safe far from flooding (we are up on high side over river) and fire damage. Wi-Fi is now working along with cable TV. The large deck is the perfect place to soak in the fresh mountain air. There is access to walk down to the river via stairs next door ~ travel at your own risk. Space does not provide any cooking facilities. There is not a kitchen or grill available.

We have ample level gravel parking in the front of the house with dedicated parking space for guests. Access to 'The Duke' is via gravel walk way on the right side of our main home, then down 12 easy low profile steps onto the covered patio area. Private entrance with keyless entry. Baggage Wagon 'radio flyer' all terrain cart is provided to transport your luggage from dedicated parking space thru the gravel to the stairs leading down to The Duke.

Other things to note
Property is safe, far from flooding and fire areas. Smart TV has Netflix, Hulu, Amazon prime etc available. WE DO NOT provide streaming services, you will have to use your own log-ins and accounts. There are no cooking facilities available. Mini fridge with small separate freezer, microwave and coffee pot including coffee, creamer and sugar is provided. There is no additional cleaning fee charged, therefore we respectfully request you keep the space tidy upon departure so that we can keep rental rate lower. Some deer enjoy being hand-feed. There is a small fenced area in the back for a pet. Please clean up after your pets,. Inside pets must be house broke. There is a $50 pet fee.
Inn of the Mountain Gods Casino located on The Mescalero Apache Reservation only 4 miles away. There are two roll-a-way beds available.
