It's a quirky layout, which caused my wife to remark, "It's like a Hobbit house!" -- the bathroom is down a narrow passage, and the bedrooms are up two flights of narrow, steep stairs. The upstairs ceilings and doorways are low, so duck your head if you're tall. (I'm six feet tall and I had to walk like a hunchback upstairs.) Having sad that, the bedrooms are both quite spacious and the beds are comfortable. There's a sink with hot and cold water in each bedroom, but the toilet is in the bathroom downstairs, which makes nighttime pee runs quite a trek. The kitchen is well-equipped with a microwave, stove, oven, fridge, dishwasher, toaster, and washing machine. I was able to cook meals for us with no problems. There's also a living room with a small TV set and seating for 5 people. Despite the quirks of Stowaway Cottage, it was a great place for us to stay -- it was close to everything and comfortable enough for eating and sleeping."

- "Lovely for our requirements over a hot weekend. " - "Overall, this is a nicely decorated, clean and well presented cottage. Aldeburgh is a lovely town and highly recommended for a holiday. The location of the cottage is good with shops nearby and the town is around 15 minutes walk.away. Parking on the street was generally available but not always in front of the house. We found 2 of the restaurants recommended in the handbook were particularly good: the Regatta and the Lighthouse. The property has good wifi, TV and DVD player. Beds and bedding are very comfortable. Kitchen is clean and reasonably well equipped. We enjoyed our stay but have a few niggles which if rectified would improve the appeal of the property: 1. The sofa bed was too hard and uncomfortable to be usable as a sofa. Fortunately the other 2-seater was fine. 2. The book and DVD collection is dated and not up to standard. 3. The property is lacking a washing machine, an essential in a self catering cottage. 4. The rear garden is unkempt and the "lawn" is mostly comprised of weeds. It has a couple of benches but a table and chairs outside would be nice. 5. Out of date spice jars and instant coffee were found in the kitchen cabinet. The coffee was solidified and should have been thrown out long ago. 6. The toilet seat is loose and needs attention, but bathroom shower etc were fine otherwise. 7. No welcome pack - a starter pack of basics is generally provided in many rental cottages. Overall we found Walnut Cottage reasonable value for money in high season."

- "The property is located overlooking the beach with just a small car park (Oakley Square) in front and within a few hundred yards of pubs, restaurants and shops .....perfect. Parking was not a problem as we were able to park our two cars free at the left side of the property throughout our stay without difficulty but technically this is not a guaranteed space. One opens the front door and another great WOW .....there is tons of open, airy space and it is beautifully and quirkily furnished and we found it really comfortable for relaxation and family time. There are two open plan interconnecting lounges ..... one with a wood fire and one with a flame affect gas fire. Then there is an open plan dining area and a huge kitchen space with a fabulous bar area where one can snack, have an aperitif whilst the meal is being prepared. All top notch. As for accommodation there are four bedrooms all with en suite ....one downstairs with wet room (great but slightly musty) and three upstairs, where there is also an open plan area and the balcony. The mattresses were ultra comfortable and everyone slept really well. Overall it was a great pleasure to stay here. One final point the service provided by Air Manage Suffolk was exceptional. We had two minor problems and reported them and were told on both occasions that Paul would be there within an hour. He was and he fixed them in a friendly and professional way .....very reassuring if you are to rent this property. In summary a great property if you want to stay at Aldeburgh and Aldeburgh itself is such a calm place to mooch around , have walks or simply relax with a good book on the balcony watching the world go by."

Please note the large terrace can be slippery when it’s icy and wet - so please be careful and wear sensible shoes.

Please be careful with the bathroom door handle and the shower screen to make sure they don’t knock into one another when open.

You can pair your devices with the sound system and, for coffee lovers there’s a Nespresso coffee machine (please bring your own pods). In a separate larder there’s extra storage, a microwave, large fridge with two shelf freezer above and an additional fridge to keep the beer cold! A door opens onto the bridge leading to the garden and there’s an opening to the rear hall with steep carpeted stairs (hand rail all the way) to the lower ground floor and utility room.

The studio has independent access to the street. Please be aware that the studio and en suite has a restricted ceiling height of approximately 190 cm.

A couple of sun loungers sit on the artificial turfed area and the patio area is furnished with a table, chairs and BBQ, inviting you to cater for yourselves or pop down the road for fish and chips. There is also a retractable washing line.
Steps from the garden lead down under the property and provide direct access to the High Street – and easy access for bicycles which can be kept at the rear of the property.
Whilst there’s no allocated parking at the house you can often find an unrestricted space near The White Lion or park at the church, just up the hill, where you can leave a donation for the priviledge/convenience.

You’re welcomed into a hallway with the living room to your right, dining room and office/reading room beyond to your left, and the kitchen ahead of you. The stairs rising to the first floor have a runner on them and handrails on both sides. Wooden flooring runs throughout the ground floor.

LIVING ROOM
Enjoy socialising in this spacious living room at any time of the year with doors to the patio and garden for the summer months and a fireplace to keep you cosy when the nights draw in. Two generous sofas, occasional chairs and tables give ample room for six guests to relax and watch a movie on the large TV (40 inch) with access to Netflix, Amazon etc. ,or choose from a good selection of books. Sitting in the corner is a fantastic Juke Box which, unfortunately, has gone into retirement but is sure to bring back some memories!

DINING ROOM
Whether you like to cater at home or pop into town for take-away fish and chips, this is a lovely room to enjoy a meal with a view of the front garden. It’s furnished with a long table and six retro chairs with an additional two for visitors.

OFFICE/READING ROOM
Ideal for some quiet time with book cases heaving with interesting books to choose from and an incredible collection of National Geographic magazines dating back to the 1960s. If guests need to do some work from home or studying they’re sure to find inspiration at the desk under the window and there’s a great choice of games and wooden jigsaw puzzles when it’s time for fun.

KITCHEN/BREAKFAST ROOM
Old meets new in this characterful kitchen where a farmhouse style table sits in the corner surrounded by a bench and three chairs. Equipment includes a Rayburn with two ovens, a warming drawer and double hot plate; a dishwasher, a big American style fridge/freezer; a Nespresso machine (please bring your own pods); a KitchenAid; a microwave; and the essential kettle and four piece toaster. Windows overlooking the garden means that parents can keep an eye on the little guests playing.

UTILITY ROOM
Ideal when you come back from the beach as there’s a butlers sink to wash the sand off, a washing machine, a dryer and a drying rack and, conveniently, a back door so you don’t have to take the sand through the house. There’s also space to store buggies and extra groceries.

FIRST FLOOR
The stairs turn to the landing where doors open to the main, double and single bedrooms plus the family bathroom and separate WC. The en-suite bathroom is off the king and an additional single opens off the double room. Wooden floors run throughout the first floor with lots of rugs and tiles in the bathrooms.

MAIN BEDROOM WITH EN-SUITE BATHROOM
The king size bed takes pride of place between bedside tables in this big bedroom which has a wonderfully calming feel thanks to a soft colour palette and daylight entering through triple aspect windows. There’s ample space to unpack with a large wardrobe and handy basket drawers, as well as an attractive chair and a dressing table with a stool and mirror.
EN-SUITE
A free-standing claw foot bath with a shower over it adds a touch of luxury to this bathroom which also has a wash basin, WC, heated towel rail (towels are provided) and a window giving natural light.

DOUBLE ROOM
Wake to the tastefully coastal theme introduced into the décor here with wallpaper and accessories. The bed is a double with an upholstered headboard. There’s storage space in a large wardrobe bedside drawers and an additional cabinet of basket drawers.

SINGLE ROOM
Accessed down a step from the double room, this is a dream room for younger guests with the single bed tucked under the beams and a porthole style window. There are shelves for bedtime stories and some drawers for clothes.

Sitting quietly at the back of the holiday house this is a charming room furnished with a single bed with a bedside table, a chair, two drawer units and a wash basin.

FAMILY BATHROOM
Well positioned off the landing for guests in the double and both singles. This sunny room has a bath with a fixed shower head over it and there’s a wash basin and heated towel rail.

OUTSIDE
Few holiday houses are located in such an idyllic location sitting well back from the road and surrounded by an extensive private garden, yet just minutes from the picturesque seaside town of Aldeburgh and magical village of Thorpeness. The gravel drive sweeps past the front garden where impressive trees shield Sol Backen from the road, and arrives at the house where there’s parking for at least three cars. The south facing back garden is mostly laid to lawn with a gravelled path leading to benches and chairs catching the evening sun in the corner, with a fire pit to take the chill off and a Weber BBQ. A neat patio is accessed from the living room which also has outdoor furniture and a patio heater and there’s a fun raised Wendy House with table football in it, a drinks fridge, beach toys and surf boards, and a porch with a couple of chairs and cushions for the adults. The house is just over a mile by road from the heart of Aldeburgh where you’ll find lots of eateries, independent shops, galleries, fish huts etc. so it might be worth bringing bikes to cycle into town. There’s also a fabulous 15 minute walk through sown Warren Hill Lane crossing the old railway track and the marshes to a secluded part of the beach between Thorpeness and Aldeburgh; or a public footpath through the golf course to town. The Aldeburgh golf club also runs across the Leiston Road to the west with some lovely walks to explore.

Only one dog is allowed and please do not let it on the furniture or upstairs, and please clean any mess in the garden. Many thanks

So much attention to detail has gone into this well configured room so you have everything you could need.
The kitchen is equipped with a range Brittania oven with six ring gas hob and extractor, a microwave, fridge with five shelves and multibox, a freezer with two large drawers, a washing machine, a Siemens coffee machine, a wine fridge and a dishwasher.
The dining table sits in the window with a bench and chairs and there’s additional bar seating with two highchairs at the central island.
The living space has three comfy sofas positioned so you can enjoy the Parkray Ecodesign wood burner and/or the large TV which has Sky including Sports Package, and there’s a DVD player. If you prefer music there’s a Roberts Dreamdock2 or you can choose a game or read a book from the selection in the cupboard.

OUTSIDE
An alley runs down the side of the house to the kitchen door with the courtyard garden gate opposite, a pretty secluded spot with seating and fairy lights.

Inside, it has a far more "cottagey" feel about it than the pictures may suggest. All the facilities are excellent and it was immaculately clean, when we arrived. There is a living room ( where sofa bed is kept) and lovely kitchen with all facilities, utensils and the food basics ( oil, salt and pepper..) you might require.
There is also a downstairs toilet plus large bathroom with toilet , bath and shower upstairs.
On the first floor there is a large double room with double bed, adjacent to this is a 'middle' room which is a space where I can teach yoga and meditation as an additional offer to your stay. On the send floor is an attic bedroom with 2 single beds.
There is a quiet garden which has outdoor dining faculties which is great for the summer months.
There are good shops ( Tesco and Co-op) 2 minutes walk away. Then there is a wider selection of shops in the centre ( 10 minute walk).

You have access to the double bedroom upstairs plus bathroom and the living room, kitchen and toilet downstairs.
