Cozy cabin in private forest with stunning mountain views and fire-heated sauna
Cabin
Nakusp, British Columbia, Canada

Nestled in the forest with stunning lake and mountain views, the Kootenay Lakeview Retreats - Forest Cabin is a hidden gem and a perfect place to getaway, unwind, recharge and explore. - "We returned for our second visit in ~8months and will return often as the property's seclusion and views are idyllic. Wonderful property-period." - "An amazing property! We thoroughly enjoyed our time here, both at the lake house as well as exploring the surrounding area." - "I have to say the cabin was exacting as advertised! The pictures do not do the place or the view justice!! The town was very friendly and had anything anyone would need for the perfect getaway, and at the cabin you can listen to Jakes old school vinyl collection or just enjoy the piece and quiet! The only negative of the whole weekend there was apparently there is lots of geese in the area and there was droppings all over the property so we had to watch where we were walking and where my dog was playing, overall would still rate this a 10/10 because everything else was so amazing! Definitely will return someday for some more piece and quiet!!"

- "Thanks Fiona We had a great time! The property is very spacious and everyone loved staying here. It was great for our big group! Everyone loved the pool and hot tub!" - "We really enjoyed our stay at this property. We were a large group of kids and parents and all of us had a great time. The property managers were absolutely lovely and very responsive to our requests. The start of our stay was rocky because we hadn't realized that the place has a commercial kitchen located in an inconvenient/separate downstairs area of the lodge. The kitchen set-up assumes that there are staff working in the kitchen who are bringing up food and refreshments for guests and taking down used dishes for cleaning. This is an awkward set up for large families staying at the place (like us) whereby a few folks have to excuse themselves from family activities to go down into the kitchen to cook and clean. The kitchen also had several appliances that were not available for guests to use (e.g., a grill with a hood fan). We made due but this caused us some grief as we started our stay. There wasn't a bbq on site but after we asked for one, the property managers promptly went out to get one, which we very much appreciated. The BBQ saved our cooking experience! Each bedroom has an en suite bathroom which we all loved. The family/games area was amazing as was the outdoor bar/seating area with incredible views. The pool and hot tub are even more amazing than the photos. The nearby lake is spectacular and perfect for swimming. We all agreed that we would definitely stay here again! Thank you F & R for your wonderful hospitality."

Cozy cabin in quiet meadow
Cabin
Upper Arrow Lake

Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway on a hobby farm. A tiny cabin that has a luxurious queen bed as well as 2 twin beds in the loft (access is by ladder.) In an adjoining cabin are the kitchen with stove and fridge, and a complete bathroom with a composting toilet and hot shower.

Although the cabin sleeps 4, it is much better suited for 2.

Enjoy the outdoors and the tranquility of nature. When fires are permitted, use the fire pit to relax and unwind.

The space
Our 6 acre property is situated 7 minutes from the village of Nakusp. There are many hiking and biking trails nearby as well as hot springs, fishing and ski trails. We have chickens, 2 dogs and a couple of cats.

Other things to note
The cabin sleeps 4 but are much better suited for 2 adults (and possibly 2 kids). If the cabins are only used for sleeping, 4 people may be fine. When the weather accommodates, eating outside at the picnic table is suitable for up to 4 guests. However, the kitchen cabin only has seating for 2.

In the shoulder season, the driveway can get a bit mucky. In the winter, we get a lot of snow. Although we plow the driveway to the cabin, if the driveway is really slippery or difficult to maintain because of heavy snow, you may need to park 100 meters and walk.

Sassy's House
House
Nakusp

My little house is my pride and joy. Just a five-minute walk to the main street and a little further to the heavenly beach. I have worked hard to make it pretty, comfortable, and well-equipped with anything you may need. The kitchen is a joy to cook in and is supplied with all the gadgets and appliances you can think of. Come and make some ice cream with your kids! It would give me great pleasure to see a family enjoy my little house this summer!

The space
Big completely private back yard with large deck with a table for 8, firepit (propane or firewood) and outdoor bar. Two comfortable bedrooms - one is a combination office setup and double bed. Living room couch flattens into a comfortable double bed so six total ... extra charge for the 5 and 6th occupants.

Guest access
The whole house is for guests' use. I move into a little mini-house in the back yard (required by BC law that I stay on the property) and stay out of your way completely. Bunny (my little doggy) and I are very comfortable in there and leave you and your family the whole property to enjoy. But I'm right there for any questions you may have. So far, it is working well.

Other things to note
There was no checkbox for my massage chair. It's the real deal.
