The suite features local artists' work and photos of some of our favourite coffee shops and restaurants. 2 minute drive to rail trails (10 min walk). 30min drive to White Water Ski Resort. 10min drive to Nordic Ski Trails. 5 minute walk to swimming pool and recreation centre. It's the best of Nelson location.

THE SPACE
As you enter, you'll be greeted by soaring ceilings, wood floors, and breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and lake. The Master bedroom boasts unique barn doors opening onto the beautiful living area below, a luxurious king bed, and a cozy electric fireplace sitting area. The Master loft also has a round pedestal table and chairs and a dream ensuite with a soaker tub and spacious waterfall shower.

The Canter room has a tranquil ambiance with a white horse mural and its own private full en-suite. The Canter room features deluxe bedding on a comfortable queen bed and two closets.

Relax in the living room, with its floor-to-ceiling windows and leather sectional couch, or prepare a meal in the enormous kitchen with its gas stove and 10' fir slab bar with stools. When it's time to dine, gather around the stunning live edge hand-hewn fir dinner table.

You will love the private mountain/lake view balcony with the Spaberry jacuzzi for two. Our home also features a washer/dryer and keyless code lock for your convenience.

While the railroad tracks run right in front of the suite, with trains passing by a couple of times a day, most guests find this no problem at all. The trains run fairly slow and don't usually honk on this end of town. The tracks run all along the lake, past many of the best areas close to the water and near downtown.

The Lamplighter is located in a quiet neighborhood, separate from any highway or downtown noise. A 15-minute walk will take you to the lakeside pathway, which stretches along the shore past the mall and through Lakeside Park to the orange bridge. The occasional trains that pass by in the mornings and late afternoons are rarely a disturbance, and reviews of the guesthouse often mention its serene and peaceful ambiance. In addition to its convenient location, the Lamplighter is also close to Cottonwood Falls and the Saturday market, as well as Gyro Park and its famous view lookout. For hikers, Elephant Mountain's Pulpit Rock lookout is also within easy reach. Our cozy little studio suite is separate from the main house- you'll have your own space and your own entrance and personal private patio in the garden to enjoy. Our yard is lined with privacy shrubs and we have two huge trees, a Japanese Maple and a Black Walnut that are over 100 years old, and on even the hottest days the shade they provide keep our yard much fresher and cooler than anywhere else. The studio has lofted ceilings which adds to the bright and airy feel of the space. We are an easy, flat 15 min walk from all the bars and restaurants and there is a shopping centre 2 min away with a Safeway, Starbucks, and Liquor Store. Beyond that are paths that will take you right down to the water. This location in the heart of the city cannot be beat! You are welcome to borrow our bicycles to get around if you'd like. We also have a couple of cheap plastic kayaks that you're welcome to bring down to the water. Lakeside park is just down the street!

I am a Vancouver expat who has lived here since 2004, although I spent my summers here as a child so I feel comfortable saying I am a local. I work as an ER nurse and manage first aid for many local festivals, so I have my finger on the pulse of what's fun to do around here, especially during the summer! My partner is a local carpenter and we live on the other side of the house so we are here and available for anything you need. We live here with my teenaged daughter and our 2 dogs and 2 cats- we are animal lovers and welcome guests with well-behaved fur babies. ❤️

Old exposed beams, repurposed heritage doors, very charming. Lynne obviously cares about her guest's comfort and experience. It is much larger than you think. And I was happy to see the recent addition of a small stove. A good variety of kitchen tools, dishes and cutlery. Perfect! We also took advantage of an optional bunk area just off the bedroom. My 5ft10" teen boy fit comfortably and loved having his own space. The King bed is luxurious! The bedroom is spacious. The towels are plush! Lynne has though of pretty much everything a person could need. The afternoon sun warmed the front room slightly, but not uncomfortably. We found keeping the fun yellow door closed during the day helped to keep the sleeping areas basement cool. Would recommend and would stay again if the need arose."

The tiny house has a main floor space of 10x28ft=280 sq ft as well as an upstairs loft that has standing room and is another 110sq feet. Upstairs you can enjoy an in-house movie experience with the projector (benQ) that casts onto the loft wall. Downstairs there is also a Bose speaker and mini sub for your audio pleasure.
The outdoor covered deck with a BBQ and a comfortable outdoor lounge is private and spacious. There is a small grassy yard that is shared just beyond the deck (I have a raspberry and strawberry patch there). You can sit in the shade under the canopy of trees.

The kitchen has everything you need to make some amazing food. The kitchen is equipped with granite counter tops, a Ninja blender, french press or stove top espresso maker, coffee grinder, popcorn maker and toaster as well as all the good knives and cutting boards you would ever need.

The bathroom has in-floor heating, a lovely rain head shower and a composting toilet that is very user friendly and is odour free.
Enjoy an epsom salt bath in the outside bathtub sunken into the deck and enjoy the birds and eagles that call this mountain side home.
The mahogany dining table swings out to seat 4 people if you want to have a few friends over for dinner or a visit.
The temperature is regulated by a Daikin mini split heat pump. This is both an air conditioner and heater.
The driveway is steep and requires 4WD to drive to the doorstep and in the winter months this is a requirement to book.
If you have 2WD then don’t fret because from April til November you can park below and walk the 50 feet to the tiny house.

The space
The guest suite is a private space on the lower level of our home with full views and walkout. The suite is approximately 350 sq ft and has lots of homey comforts including boardgames, books, and kitchen essentials (including microwave, kettle and small fridge/freezer - note that there is no cooktop/hotplate). We provide travel guides of the local area, magazines, and useful resources to help you make the most of your time in Nelson. Complimentary mountain bikes (medium and large) available that are suitable for the nearby rail trail.

The space
The is a lower level walk out basement suite with lots of natural light. There is one private bedroom, a bathroom and a living room but there is no kitchen. It does includes the basic amenities of a coffee maker, kettle, mini fridge and microwave.

The sofa folds out into a double bed for extra visitors while the main bedroom has a king sized bed for maximum comfort. There is a small patio and access to the backyard as well as a hot tub on site (shared access but we generally don't use it when guests are renting).

*Please note that it is a basement suite and while we are mindful of the guests downstairs you can hear some noises from upstairs.

This lovely little stand-alone studio is cozy and close to everything. Located in a fun and quiet part of downtown Nelson, it’s the perfect place for active visitors! The Studio is a few blocks from Oso Negro Coffee Shop, Nelson Brewing Company & taproom, historic Baker Street and a Whitewater Ski Area shuttle stop. There is a convenient off street parking space right next to the accommodation. Coffee and tea are provided for your enjoyment.

The space
The studio is a tiny one room building (150 sq feet) with all of the conveniences. It fits one person, or a couple, comfortably with a comfortable double bed. There is a second double bed in the loft but it’s not easy to access. The loft is ideal for an older child or very agile adult. There is no cooking allowed in this space. However, there is a small refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker and tea kettle. The space has a small water heater therefore, one must embrace the 10 minute shower!

Guest access
The Studio has its own private entrance and is accessible from the alley between Mill and Latimer Streets. You can’t miss it as it is right next to the historic Nelson Fire Department building. Parking is adjacent to the studio building with a sign the says guest parking. It’s a busy alley way so please use caution when entering and exiting.

Other things to note
There is no cooking allowed in this space. However, there is a small refrigerator, microwave, flatware & utensils, coffee maker and electric kettle. The space is meant for 1-2 people and has a small water heater. Therefore, one must embrace the 10 minute shower! The studio is located in historic 'Uphill' and is just a block from the lovely Uphill Market and Epiphany bakery, and two blocks from the Nelson Brewing Company tasting room. A short stroll (7 blocks) takes you to Nelson's lively Baker Street and downtown core, famous for it's art and culture, fabulous dining, live music, groovy shopping and vibrant mountain life.

You’ll love my place because of it's quiet, secluded setting in historic Uphill, nestled amongst some of Nelson's oldest homes. The property is beautifully landscaped with native plants and local granite stonework, and the pet-free studio is very private and has everything you need to simply walk in and start living.

It is only three blocks from the highway exit south to Whitewater Ski and hiking area, the Nelson Nordic Center, and has storage for your skis/boards, bikes and outdoor toys. There are several outdoor spaces that have been created solely for studio guests; a deck and native gardens at the front entrance and a grassy area to lounge in the rear. The locals favorite Uphill Market is only one block away where you can go for a coffee and snack, or pick up some locally made bread, coffee, farm eggs, hard ice cream and more.

The Studio has a private, keyless entrance and it's own veranda and garden space. There is a private washer/dryer, iron and ironing board, storage space for your bikes, skis or outdoor toys, and off-street parking for one vehicle. Best suited for a single person or couple, our basement suite has a queen size bed and private bathroom with heated floor.

In addition there is a spacious sitting room in which guests have access to wifi and a flat screen TV with DVD player. A bookcase is stocked with novels and travel guides. A fine collection of DVDs is also provided.

A great spot to park your gear and enjoy the lake view after a long day of play! This is a recently renovated guest basement suite in a home just minutes from the beach and Nelson. Our 1 bedroom space is completely self-contained and has it's own covered parking space and private entrance. There's a large front yard for guests to use, and locally-famous hiking trails near by. Although we don't have pets of our own, we welcome well-behaved fur babies.

The space
This open concept suite has low ceilings, so those over 6'2" will need to watch their heads. There is in-floor heating in the main sleeping area, plenty of room to bring gear inside to dry, and a small kitchenette (microwave, toaster, induction hotplate, coffee station, fridge). The bathroom uses a macerating pump for waste water, so only toilet paper (and "organics") can be flushed or it will damage the system. There is a Smart wall mount TV that faces the queen sized bed. The room stays pleasantly cool in the summer and does not require A/C.

Guest access
Parking is underneath the large deck and is dry. There are french doors into the suite to welcome in the morning sun. The front yard is for guests to enjoy, the back yard and deck are private. If you are staying here in the winter, good snow tires and AWD/4WD are highly recommended as our road is one of the last to get plowed. The neighbourhood is very safe, but I wouldn't trust the wild turkeys (just kidding, they're harmless).

Other things to note
This is a guest suite in a home owned by a couple with no small children. We are quiet folks, but some sound travels between the two levels. We will do our very best to respect your presence and we ask that you return the favour.
In the winter, our road is one of the last to get plowed. Snow tires and AWD/FWD are highly recommended.

Our Grandpa Max built this eclectic space onto the back of his heritage home in the 1970s as an art studio and woodworking shop. Now we host travelers in this mid-century meets modern Scandi suite. The downtown core is only one block away but the studio is located on a quiet residential street backing on to green-space. Grocery store, coffee shops, restaurants, park with a lookout and the theatre are all within blocks. Perfect for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers and ski bums!

The space
This bright and beautiful studio space is approximately 350 sf. It is accessible through a shared entryway, but separate from other living spaces in the home, so is very private. Large windows look out onto a green space behind the house, away from the street. Please note that there are several flights of stairs required to access the suite.

The breakfast nook has a mini-fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, kettle, sink, dishes and cutlery. There are no cooking implements but it’s perfect for a quick breakfast and lunch prep before a day of exploring. There is a small table for your basic meals or to use your laptop with the wifi.

There is a modest 3-piece bath in the studio for your private use, stocked with soap, towels and other necessities.

The cozy queen sized bed is made up with cotton sheets, and you’ll find extra pillows and blankets in the closet. We use unscented detergents for your comfort.

The house is a beautiful heritage home that we are in the process of revitalizing to its former glory. It has extensive gardens and landscaping out front and is located on a residential street just one block from the downtown core. It is walking distance to all amenities and a 15-20 minute walk to the lake. Please let us know if we can help with any directions or recommendations during your stay.

Although we are right downtown, our home is in a high traffic wildlife area. It is common to see raccoons, skunks, deer and even the occasional bear roaming through the property!

The studio is across the hall from our lovely upstairs tenant, and our family lives on the lower floor with our two young children, so it can be a bit lively during the day but is very quiet at night.

The studio suite and our property are not the most kid friendly location, however we are very happy to host your children along with you if you feel it is a good fit.

Guests are only permitted to have one vehicle with them during their stay.

The space
Beautiful 1905 home on a large, private, shaded corner lot. There is a sheltered patio outside the studio's french doors to relax and unwind with an evening beverage or a morning coffee. In the suite there is a Smart TV with Netflix and cable included. We aim to make your stay as relaxing and care-free as we can, so if you have any requests before your trip, just ask!

**And be aware, we live in the mountains and have bears, skunks, racoons and cougars in our neighborhood from time to time, so be safe and aware when out and about- especially at night!

This newly built two bedroom suite is situated right below the rail trail and a few blocks from the hospital. With large windows overlooking the lake, mountain and BOB (big orange bridge) plus beautiful forest views in the bedrooms it has a very calming feel. New appliances and a well equipped kitchen allow for homely meals and a very comfortable stay. Warm in winter from the radiant infloor heat and cool in summer. Accessed by a steep dirt laneway, AWD or 4WD recommended and a must in winter.

The space
The suite has a separate, private entrance with an extra large step free front door, all rooms on a single level and wide doorways. Bedroom one has a queen bed, large closet and ranch slider onto deck. Bedroom two has a double bed and large closet. Space is well lit with almost every light dimmable including the touch bedside lamps. Bedroom blinds have both a blackout and privacy option. Shower is fully tiled and step free with shower head on an adjustable arm. Laundry includes washer, dryer and laundry sink.

Guest access
Absolutely share our backyard with us. The access to the backyard is the path at the top of the small lawn and then at the top of that lawn is the path to the compost bin and the rail trail. There are some toys in a Rubbermaid bin and a baby pool that move around the backyard but they will be somewhere there! a small sandpit is near the back door.

Other things to note
The suite is located below the living space of our home so whilst peaceful and quiet for the most part (especially between 9pm-6am), there will be periods of noise from above as we have two young children aged one and four. One of the bedrooms is also below our kitchen which is frequently used in this busy household (we have provided a white noise machine to help with blocking out footsteps and the like). As we have young children ourselves, if you are travelling with young ones we can make your stay more comfortable and fun - we have a single mattress and bedding that can be used on the floor (or a bassinet) as well as toys, books, high chair at the table - just let us know what you need. If there are certain times of the day when it needs to be as quiet as possible upstairs, please let us know.

The space
The suite's interior is an open concept; the entry and kitchen, the living and dining rooms flow through to the bedroom. The interiors and furnishings are quite new. The main bed is queen-size and the living-room sofa folds out to a full-size. The windows and doors are set into deep reveals in the old stone walls. Heating and cooling is provided by a heat pump and the bathroom has a heated floor.
The kitchen space is equipped with a range/stove, a refrigerator, an espresso machine, a toaster, microwave and a dishwasher.

Parking is located at the back of the house which is accessed through the alley between Hoover and Observatory. In the winter, 4x4 or AWD is highly recommended. Accessing the parking spot is best done heading up the alley from Kootenay rather then heading down the alley from Stanley. Photos are included in the check in instructions that guides this process

Other things to note
- If you have a toddler or infant we do have a Thule chariot (double) that can be used for cross country skiing, cycling, or strolling.

- the space is very bright with tons of natural lighting. If you need dark spaces for sleep we recommend bringing a sleep mask. (They are a total game changer and my wife and I are dependent on them and sleep with them every night wherever we go)


- the kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to make a great meal. We have found in places that we have stayed that we would have liked more cooking supplies and so for our space we have decided to provide a fully stocked kitchen as far as pots/pans/baking trays/ cooking utensils/ as well as an array of spices.

- Epiphany bakery is our neighbour, so you don’t have to travel far to get some delicious local coffee and freshly baked treats.

Take it easy at this unique and tranquil cabin. Enjoy the stunning view of the mountains and city of Nelson. Right next to famous Pulpit rock hiking trail and 30 minute drive to Whitewater Ski Resort. You have space in the car port for your skis equipment or bicycles.

From parking to cabin there are 3 stair cases & many steps, it's sadly not for mobility reduced individuals.

Nelson is a very special city. It has many restaurants and store that offer organic foods as well as vegan options.

There are 3 cottages on our steep land. You may park 1 car in the driveway at the top of the stairs, in front of the car port. The driveway is shared with our family and another family. We park 4 cars wide. Looking down at the view from the parking you will see stairs and 3 cottages accessing those stairs.
My family lives in the top cottage on the left and your new home is the cabin midway down the stairs on the right.

You will have your own private section of the beach on the right side of the dock. You will need to continue going down the stairs through the walkway between 2 building all the way to the lake. Keep to your right, the cottage on the left is rented to other guest and they will be using the beach on the left of the dock.

We live upstairs, facing a different street than the one where the suite is located. It can be confusing.

We can be available to problem solve or help you out finding fun things to do. Upstairs in our mudroom in the back entrance is where the washer and dryer are located - for long term bookings only.

You can access the property from Front or High Street. The former will take you to the mall and lakeside Park while High Street will get you downtown.

There is road noise during the day and evening, so we provide silicone ear plugs as well as a fan and a bluetooth speaker for white noise.

If you are looking for a little romance, crank the tunes with the bluetooth and aux plug-in option speaker and serenade the local wildlife at your doorstep.

In the kitchen, you will be thrilled to find everything you need to whip up a gourmet meal. Ethically sourced ceramic dinnerware by Fable made in the Tagus Valley will add 'the pop' you need to your meal if you get distracted by the tranquil and relaxing environment.

The bathroom has a full size shower and tub with complimentary organic soap, shampoo, and conditioner. There is also your own private washer and dryer located in bathroom for your use. We are happy to provide you with sustainable and eco-friendly laundry detergent so don't worry about purchasing or packing your own.

As a reminder, you will not find a television here. This is on purpose so kick back and enjoy the Kootenay hippie vibe!

The space
Three cabins are located along the beautiful Cottonwood Creek with majestic large cedar and popular trees. There are no street lights so the LED flaming torches and warm Edison lights turn the evening into a magical land. Perfect for star gazing and enjoying the fire pit while listening to the sound of the tranquil creek. There are several sitting areas for outdoor dining and relaxing by the creek. In the main house are your hosts. There is a large covered carport to park your vehicle and room for toys, skis etc. The newly renovated shop has two new shared communal bathrooms, extra kitchen amenities, dart board, living room lounges and several board games for your enjoyment.

IMPORTANT: If you have younger children or mobility issues, you will have to climb a ladder to the loft and this might not be the right fit. Guests must climb a ship type ladder to access the loft with the queen size bed. We also have a double futon on the main floor.

When you stay at Cozy Cottonwood Cabins the guests get to stay in a 10’ x 10’ standalone private cabin perfect for 2 to 4 people. They have access to the communal kitchen shared bathrooms, fire pit and barbecue.

Our three cozy cabins offer a blend of rustic charm and modern convenience, making them perfect for adventure seekers and those looking to unwind next to a peaceful creek. Enjoy a restful stay in a cute two story cabin. New spotless bathrooms are located in a SEPARATE building which includes a full kitchen, large gym, lounging areas and laundry.

The space
Three cabins are located along the beautiful Cottonwood Creek with majestic large cedar and popular trees. There are no street lights so the LED flaming torches and warm Edison lights turn the evening into a magical land. Perfect for star gazing and enjoying the fire pit while listening to the sound of the tranquil creek. There are several sitting areas for outdoor dining and relaxing by the creek. In the main house are your hosts. There is a large covered carport to park your vehicle and room for toys, skis etc. The newly renovated shop has two new shared communal bathrooms, extra kitchen amenities, dart board, living room lounges and several board games for your enjoyment.

IMPORTANT: If you have younger children or mobility issues, you will have to climb a ladder to the loft and this might not be the right fit. Guests must climb a ship type ladder to access the loft with the queen size bed.

Guest Access:
When you stay at Cozy Cottonwood Cabins the guests get to stay in a 10’ x 10’ standalone private cabin perfect for 2 to 4 people. They have access to the communal kitchen shared bathrooms, fire pit and barbecue.
Other things to note:
Pets are welcome :) You will be charged a nonrefundable pet fee.

Guest access
Guests are welcome to use all amenities in the shop including a full kitchen, entertainment areas, board games and dart board.
There are three outdoor tables to sit and enjoy meals and drinks. You can relax and have coffee on the benches by the creek.
We also have a barbecue and a fire pit to cozy up to and roast marshmallows at night.

Other things to note
We are on a septic field so please put feminine products and condoms in the garages provided.

The space
Located on a quiet alley facing Elephant Mtn. Newly constructed daylight basement within a three story home. Accommodates a couple plus two kids in the smaller bedroom. This second bedroom has a trundle (2 singles) that can convert to a queen bed. Kitchen is stocked with cookware, dinnerware, glassware,and silverware. Bathroom has a natural stone shower. New Zinus green tea memory foam mattresses (medium-firm) and cotton linens. New pillows are medium-firm.

High speed Wi-Fi and Roku TV with free streaming channels. Trailhead to popular rail trail is seven blocks away. Very popular for walking, cycling, and x-country skiing.

NOTE: As a basement suite, you may hear footsteps above and water moving through pipes. Tall people: there is a beam at 6'2".

If you like the sample of Oso Negro coffee provided, their cafe' is only 5 blocks away.

Guest access
You have a private entrance and a reserved parking space in the alley. Your entrance door is at back of house and is accessed from the alley (between Hoover and Observatory). In the winter, 4x4 or AWD is recommended as the City is not able to reliably plow alleys.

Welcome to our Kootenay Launch pad. A self contained one bedroom suite, with an additional sofa bed. Located on a quiet street, near forested trails in Nelson BC. Enjoy easy access to beautiful Kootenay lake and Whitewater Ski Resort. This space is ideal for people who need a cozy nest while exploring the bounty of the Kootenays.

The space
The Kootenay Launch Pad is a self contained suite accessed by private entrance. The space was recently renovated and offers a clean, cozy, functional stay. This one bedroom suite is perfect for a couple, additionally the sofa bed can be made up to accommodate a second separate sleeping area for up to two children. Enjoy the queen Endy mattress, smart TV with Netflix, dedicated workspace, kitchenette, washer/dryer and small outdoor patio.

Guest access
You may utilize the entire suite and adjacent patio space.

Other things to note
Disclaimer:

1. The suite is attached to our family home. You may sometimes hear our two kids footsteps upstairs, in parts of the suite.

2. There is an inside door adjacent the sofa bed. It is locked from our side and will not be utilized during your stay. Your privacy is our priority.

3. The wooden stairs leading to the suite can be slippery during the winter months. Please take care.

4. There is no door on the bedroom. For consideration of privacy.
