- "This property was just as quiet and close to nature as we had hoped. Even with a music festival running for three days 2 km up the road, we heard nothing, the tiny house being in a deep dip. We had a beautiful deer and small black bear visit over the course of our stay. There is a viewing platform level with the tops of the fir trees up the steep hillside. We enjoyed a couple of the books provided by Phil in the cabin. As the amenities are intended to be basic, we would recommend taking any camping comforts you enjoy. We were glad we had the screen tent, for example, so we could comfortably sit outside at any time, and a collapsible sink for personal hygiene. There is no bathroom in the house, but you can ask Phil for a hot shower somewhere nearer to his house. We didn't. We used our collapsible sink, wet wipes, and the showers at the hot springs in Ainsworth. The kitchen outdoors is a double ring run off propane, and there is a propane barbecue. About propane, you can operate a propane fire pit, even during a fire ban, if you take one along with you to enjoy after dark. One last thing. There is no cell reception at the property, ever. But you can choose to go into Salmo (about twenty minutes away), or some other town, to use your data to connect with others and the internet. Or you can take the opportunity to enjoy a total break from these things. We badly needed to relax and pretty much do nothing but be, so this little break was perfect for us."

- "We really enjoyed the property. There are short hikes around the property, that you can link up to longer hikes if you choose. About 20 minutes from Nelson. There are a few cabins on the property, but very private and not all too close to each other. It was very quiet and easy to get to more urban areas if you choose. We stayed here with two adults and our 5 year old and all had a great time. We will definitely come back and highly recommend. It's not for everyone, but if you like being a bit disconnected and enjoy being away from the crowds this place is great. Wifi works well but no TV which is what we wanted."

Guests have access to the whole house, parking, and yard. With the exception of a locked door to the crawl space where we keep all our extra items for turnovers and an inaccessible attic door.

Erie Creek house is just off BC 3/ Crowsnest Highway and 1 street over from Erie Creek. It is a nice casual, flat 15-minute walk into downtown Salmo using 9th Street that goes under the highway.

Outdoor Adventure Awaits: Nature enthusiasts will be in their element here. Step outside, and you'll find yourself in a world of outdoor possibilities. Summer has hiking, biking, golfing, fishing, and wildlife watching it is all just a stone's throw away. Winter boasts a local ski hill and a 30/40 minute drive to 2 world-class resorts Red Mountain and Whitewater, Nordic skiing is almost right out the back door on the local Great Trail Network or a multitude of cross-country ski clubs to choose from, go snowmobiling in the Selkirk Mountains as it transforms into beautiful sledding terrain. We're located near some of the region's most scenic trails and parks, making it easy to explore the great outdoors.

Elise Cabin lies right next to and is named after our own pristine Elise creek. All cabins feature a rich variety of decorations from the owners' private collection of world artifacts. Elise cabin's interior finishing & decoration is themed: "Vintage Canadian". We keep Elise Cabin pet-free for guests with possible allergies (all our other cabins do welcome pets). Kindly note that there is no direct vehicle access to the cabin - we will always be there to assist you with your luggage to your cabin when you check-in and check-out. The walking distance from the cabin to the common parking area is app. 150 meters.Centrally located in the BC Kootenays and only 20 km from Nelson, our boutique mountain lodge offers four very private and luxury cabins set on 42 acres of private forest land to enjoy all mother nature has to offer - and do so in great comfort.

Take a soak in the deep tub after a day on the slopes or walk 5 min to explore alongside the river.
The space
Enjoy the 2 acres of forest this property has to offer. Walk the 0.4 km forest path, gather around the fire pit or hang out in our seasonal hammock grove with outdoor eating area. Walk 3 mins to walk along the river bank, enjoy the views and keep your eye out for wildlife. We have spotted deer, wild turkeys and even a mama moose and her calf!

This home has large windows with forest views on every side. The living room boasts an enormous sectional couch and projector set up with various streaming services. The kitchen and dining room are set up for socializing. The kitchen is stocked with all the essentials and kitchen island with comfortable bar seating. Enjoy dinner or a board game at the dining room table.

Each bedroom is unique and designed using natural elements from around the property. The master bedroom (Cedar Room) has a comfortable king bed and unique live edge night tables. The Larch Room has rustic charm with a queen bed and photo-worthy headboard made from trees on our property. The Hemlock Room is cozy and comfortable with a double bed. Each room has closet space, hangers and separate thermostat.

The Casita is situated on a 4 acre section of our 54 acre property. The Casita is close to our house and shares yard space but also has its own private covered outdoor seating right off of the bedroom sliding door. The 4 acres is easily accessible just off of Highway 6 north of Salmo (towards Nelson). The remaining 50 acres of property is treed and has private trails that head up to viewpoints overlooking the Salmo Valley.

Immerse yourself in nature and experience what tiny house living is all about. Just a short bike ride to Salmo but feels like a world away.

Hang in a hammock, sit around the fire or enjoy your morning coffee on the deck. Two sleeping lofts with queen beds, a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom.

This nook of our homestead surrounded by trees is all yours though we do live close by and have an active homestead raising chickens, tending gardens and working on projects.

The space
We are a 9 acre forested homestead where we raise chickens, grow food and work on building projects. There is always action on our property but you will have the zone amongst the tiny house in the trees to yourself.

Expect to hear the sounds of life which to us means chickens, birdsong, dogs, children, tools and people. We do respect quiet hours from 11pm (usually earlier) to 8am.

We are 2km outside of Salmo along a quiet country road. You can ride your bike to Salmo or walk if you'd like. We are a 30 minute drive to Nelson, Castlegar and Trail.

Please do not access other buildings or spaces on the property.

Children over age 10 are welcome and your responsibility. Unfortunately due to steep stairs and sleeping lofts we do not accept younger children.

Our tiny house does not work for those with mobility challenges due to steep stairs to get to the sleeping loft.

Our tiny house has a small hot water tank which means short showers and managing your hot water use.

Two friendly and well-behaved dogs roam the property freely. They will likely come around for some love and attention. Please don't let them indoors or feed them. They love car rides so make sure they don't sneak in your car. Let me know if they are feeling bothersome and I'll take action right away.

We back onto crown land and wildlife is all around us. You will be awoken to the sounds of birds in the trees and chickens clucking. Please keep all smelly things like coolers, food, trash, etc. in the tiny house or your car. The dogs help keep wildlife away. If you hear barking at night it likely means a bear is nearby and our dog is doing his job.

Cozy up and read a book in the spacious loft bed or take a bath in the outdoor tub (May - Oct). Have a romantic getaway, or bring your family of 3 and make use of the twin futon. Walk or ride your bike right out the door on our trails and take in one of the classes or events at For-rest Retreat. Salmo is the perfect place to stay and explore the beauty of the Kootenays.

The space
The Caravan is part of For-rest Retreat and is situated behind our yurt where we host community classes and events.

Guest access
Guests are welcome to wander our trails, use our Zen Garden and attend drop-in classes in the yurt and other events (best to confirm with us first)
We will be building a sauna in the fall 2025! Look for details soon.

Please note that the toilet is a composting toilet and there is also an outhouse close by if you prefer not to use a composting toilet.

Yard is shared common area yet still quite private and you will have the space to yourself the majority the time. Patio is your space.

The thermostats in the kitchen and main bathroom are for the heated floors in those spaces. There are baseboards for heat in the bedrooms, living room and dinning room to adjust to your preferred setting.

Guests have access to the whole house, parking, and yard. With the exception of a locked door to the crawl space where we keep all our extra items for turnovers and an inaccessible attic door.

Summer has hiking, biking, golfing, fishing, and wildlife watching it is all just a stone's throw away.
