Little bungalow on a huge, one acre lot. Very peaceful and quite. Located on the outskirts of Raleigh. 25 mins Southeast of downtown Raleigh. The property is located 7 mins southwest of downtown Wendell. Wendell is a cute, small home town. If you're wanting a Hallmark, small town movie feel - this is the town. It is also located 12mins away from the fast growing town of Knightdale where you can find all your fast food restaurants and small shopping centers. Hwy US-64 is 6mins east which can quickly and easily take you south to Garner, North to Wake Forest or as Far East to Cary within 20-35 mins. We are also Northeast of Clayton which is a 14min drive.

The house was nice, up to date, very clean, and more spacious than anticipated. The backyard is huge, and the fire pit was a nice touch. The house is in a nice neighborhood, and the neighbors were friendly. I would definitely stay here again!" - "The house is in a good neighborhood it was quiet although we didn't spend much time there. In the listing it mentioned the doorbell ring but I didn't realize it was going to be recording everything the entire stay. Most places have the option to shut off the camera and it's usually just facing the driveway. There was no quick reference book on the house for things such as internet access check out rules, surrounding attractions. Not everyone loves looking online for everything. It was mentioned in the description about the august app, and I think it's the worst system ever. A keypad entry is much easier and our family would have had easier access to it, again I had to refer to the description and there seen where I have to request for my guests to be added to join the app, again keypad entry would be better. The fridge had food left in it from who knows how long and also in the freezer, nobody wants someone else's food. The stove was dirty and should have been cleaned inside and the inside of the cabinet was completely unacceptable. This was basically a place to sleep."

"The Purple Room" has a very comfy high quality queen size air mattress , flat screen TV (got lines on right side from moving, but can still view movies and shows). No cable but has a Roku stick for watching Netflix, Hulu and other Apps. The closet is available for usage.

During your stay
I do live in the property and would be in my own private space. I enjoy meeting people, but I am hardly ever home and when I am, I am working or relaxing having little to no interaction with guests other than occasional check ins. I am however only one chat, or phone call away if needed.

This room is serene and comfy. It has a Queen size air mattress and a flat screen TV w/o cable but an antenna for regular channels. Television needs upgrading and will be this Spring/Summer. Most people lodge here and do not watch the television but again, it is available for local channel watching.

The cottage is a cozy space with a big front porch perfect for guests who need to rest, refresh and reset.

The Space

The guest cottage is divided into three areas. The Kitchenette area, the living area and a private master bedroom.

The kitchenette includes a refrigerator with freezer, sink, five-burner stainless steel gas cooktop stove and oven, microwave, Ninja blender, tea kettle and coffee maker.

The space includes a full bathroom with bathtub, plush towels, blow dryer and toiletries.

The living room is cozy and furnished with a leather reclining sofa, Roku television, and a few books for comfy reading and downtime.

The bedroom features a queen bed with comfy bedding, plenty of storage and black out curtains. The room is extra insulated to keep noise from filtering into the space and is a private room from the rest of the living area.

There is a spacious front porch with a sitting area for relaxing outdoors and a dining table for al fresco dining.

Other things to note:

Host's family lives on premise. The Cottage is a private guest house; however, it is directly behind the main house where the host family lives with their three dogs and four cats.

Please NOTE: This is a WORKING HOMESTEAD!! We gladly share our love for homesteading and organic gardening, but please understand that we won’t always have a manicured space! We do our best to make it comfortable and cozy, but we still have to take care of homestead business 😉 !

Also this is a TINY home and is quaint and cozy! We do our best to make it as functional as we possibly can, but we cannot please everyone! We will gladly help you with any space issues if you just ask! 😊

We do everything in our power to make your stay a comfy, relaxing experience on our homestead, but we ask that you do understand that it is a working homestead and not all areas are pretty. Thank you!

Pet Policy
We love animals, but ask you only bring your well trained dog to visit us. We are a homestead and have chickens, ducks, and other livestock that need to be protected from curious dogs and cats. Please make sure your sweet pet is on a leash at all times and not left alone in The Cottage.

The Cottage @ Wandering Woods Homestead is a smoke-free environment! Please no smoking as several of our family members suffer from COPD and Asthma. Thank you for caring!

Whether you need a place to recharge for the night or you plan to stay a while, this space has it all! Mini split in the bedroom and living space with separate controls, great size bathroom with large shower, & super comfy queen bed! Full kitchen with ample space to prep meals and dine at the table. Sofa/Futon is very comfy and great size for extra guests!

This garage conversion boasts 576sq ft of living space with approximately 275sq ft of covered deck space! Very cozy space that’s entirely yours! Comfortable and Flexible Sleeping Arrangements
The home features two inviting queen-size beds, a queen-size trundle bed, and a futon in the office that converts into a small bed. The room with the trundle bed is cozy, with limited space alongside the queen bed. For a more spacious and comfortable setup, moving the trundle to another room is recommended—though a bit tricky, it’s definitely doable for a better experience.

We Love Pooches!
Well-behaved dogs under 50 lbs are warmly welcomed for a fee of $50 per dog, per night (maximum of two dogs). To ensure a smooth experience, please mention any pets during booking and include them on the booking form. A prepaid fee will be applied to your reservation.

We kindly ask that you bring pet beds and keep them off the furniture, including beds and sofas. Don't forget to let us know about your furry friends when booking or inquiring, so we can approve their stay and make the necessary arrangements.

We'd also like to kindly share that being a working farm you may also smell the cattle herd, hear the motors running in the tobacco barns through the night, or need to share the road with a tractor. 😊 Life on the farm is vibrant and ever-changing, and we’re happy to share it with you.


🌿 The Farmhouse: This home blends its original character with thoughtful updates. You’ll find details like original doors and doorknobs alongside comfortable spaces for your stay. The 3 bedrooms (sleeps 6) are outfitted with all-cotton linens and cooling gel pillows to ensure a restful night.

As is typical of a farmhouse that has grown over time, there’s a step down into the bathroom and two bedrooms—just something to keep in mind as you settle in.

The house is named after the earliest known residents, King and Mary Vinson, who worked the surrounding farmland when it belonged to the Davis family. My father has fond memories of the Vinsons and we’re honored to carry their legacy forward in this home.
