Dramatic sustainable house designed for relaxed holiday living by Mapleton local Philip Boorman who has many awards for his outstanding Architectural work and furniture designs.

Located on the escarpment in the centre of the 125 acre site. This privileged isolation has allowed the house design to be opened to the expansive surrounding valley and mountains by the extensive use of timber framed bi-fold doors and windows. Solar panels generate the power supply and roof water is collected in tanks for filtered reuse within the home.

The original survey plan of 1904 noted:

This rugged landscape has protected the area from encroachment by subdivisions for over 100 years, providing flora and fauna with largely undisturbed area for species listed as endangered, such as the Coxen Fig-Parrot and the Regent Honey eater, to thrive.

We’ve just completed a mini makeover, painted the walls, ceilings and floors and added new furniture, rugs, couch covers, linen and used a neutral colour palette, which we believe will help our guests to really relax and enjoy the time away. Plantation shutters also offer you both privacy and light control. You have your own private deck to sit and enjoy the bird life and the soothing sounds of running water cascading over the river stones.
We can provide a gourmet platter ($125) delivered to your door. Please book in advance as we source local and organic produce (where possible).

Springview Retreat is in a class of its own. Situated on a 15 acre property that used to be part of a much larger dairy farm. The original "Springview" farm house is about 100 meters from the cottage. HILLBORNE COTTAGE is a self-contained two bedroom cottage in the beautiful Perth Hills at Sawyers Valley. Hillborne borders on, with safe easy access, to the Railway Reserves Heritage Trail, the KEP Track (walk, cycle horse ride) and the National Trust Golden Pipeline Heritage Drive (Mundaring Weir to Kalgoorlie) and Alps Reserve.

The cottage is perfectly situated for bush walkers, cyclists, and horse riders with numerous tracks and trails all within a stone's throw of "Hillborne", about 5 mins drive, 15 mins off road cycle ride from Mundaring and 45 minutes from Perth. The Munda Biddi Trail, one of the worlds longest off road cycle trails starts in Mundaring.

The cottage, has very comfortable two bedroom accommodation with a queen bed and a second bedroom with two king singles. It has a fully equipped kitchen, sitting and dining area with TV, DVD player, reverse cycle air-conditioning in the living areas, fans in the bedrooms. A large veranda with BBQ to enjoy the beautiful views over the valley and the spectacular glow of the last rays of the sun disappearing up the gum trees.

While at Bruny Island, our family loves "screen down time, family up time", enjoying the beach, reading and games, so the TV is small and hidden behind a picture. There is no wifi at the house, however there is great 4G reception for mobile devices.

'Seventeen Steps to the Beach' is a luxuriously-appointed beach house right on the beach. The open-plan layout assures breath taking views throughout, including a massive deck leading straight to the beach and ocean. The deck or the beach are the perfect locations to lie back on a bean-lounge and read a book, sip wine or soak up the sun.

Beautifully and professionally styled and furnished, every effort has been made to keep the spacious 'shack' feel whilst maximizing the amazing beach, coastal and water views. The only thing more spectacular than the view inside is the view outside!

The kitchen, by 'shack' standards, is large, featuring Caesar stone benchtops, state-of-the-art appliances incl. fridge with filtered ice-maker/drink dispenser, European cooktop & oven, dishwasher, POD coffee machine & integrated microwave. There is bar-seating plus separate dining with doors leading to the deck. The living area also has doors opening-up for maximum outdoor access to outdoor dining, BBQ (portable electric) available and adjustable shade.

The 'shack' faces N.N.E, picking up the sun all day, with excellent insulation throughout. Reverse-cycle aircon, portable heating + electric blankets are on all beds if required. It's doubtful you would want to block the view, however a flick of a button & UV protection sheer blinds electrically roll down.

Comfortably sleeping 2-4 adults there are two spacious bedrooms (Queen in main + 2xsingle in Br2, with quality linen & 'Dunlop' pillows). At the end of the driveway through the large side gate will be owner's home office which will be locked when not in use. Owner's private residence - granny flat at the back of property is also private.

Guests also have access to laundry room just on the decking area through the kitchen & second toilet. As we get plenty of sun during the day, we have a number of portable racks, and hills hoist to dry your clothes in the sun filled yard.

Guests are welcome to use the outdoor dining area/white gazebo area for dining and relaxing; however please keep in mind:

Please keep the common areas clean after use ie. kitchen and bathroom.

We do have a bell BBQ which guests are welcome to use but please only use in open space.

During your stay
We (my partner and I) actually reside at the rear of the resident in our granny flat so if you need anything, shoot me a message and I'll be right there.

Even though keycode and check in instructions will be sent to you on day of check in, we will meet you in person to show you around and answer your questions, introduce you to current housemates (other Airbnb guests).

We both work from home but we'll be in our offices most of the time so we wont be in your way; but just message me if you need anything.

Other things to note
We have resident felines, canines, hens, geese and goslings, who will mostly be with me in my office or just at the back of the property.

Our hens and geese roam the backyard so please be gentle.

We have kittens who like to follow me around so if I'm in the yard, you will spot glimpses of them around.
Our senior cat hangs out at the front of the house as she does not like Mr Lucky so if she approaches you you're welcome to pat/play with her.

Our dog, Lucky is a very friendly Pomeranian and loves people. Our cats are more cautious of strangers so will just watch you from far away.
