The thoughtful touches such as vases of fresh flowers and a welcome pack of milk, bread, etc made it extra special. Our boys aged 12 & 14 nicknamed the cottage ‘The hobbit hole’ and insist it’s the best holiday home they’ve ever stayed in. The WiFi definitely added to their seal of approval. We loved that you can join the cycle track from the back garden and highly recommend cycling to the mountains. Some of the most breath taking scenery we’ve ever seen!"

'Tŷ Pérson' is an original Welsh slateworker's cottage in the heart of a UNESCO world heritage area. It's n the Braichmelyn area of Bethesda and you can walk down our road straight into Snowdonia National Park. It's been modernised and extended but retains original features and charm. It's in a perfect location for exploring this wonderful region: Zipworld is moments away, Anglesey is 30 mins away and Snowdon 20 mins away.
Sorry but no dogs!
The space
Tŷ Pérson is our original Welsh slateworker's cottage in the Braichmelyn area of Bethesda and just by Snowdonia National Park. We have modernised and extended it while seeking to retain as many original features as possible.
It is moments from Zipworld and from the Carneddau mountains. Snowdon itself is a 20 minute drive away, and you are only a short distance by car from Bangor town centre and Anglesey. There is a regular bus service between Bangor and Bethesda and the nearest train station is in Bangor.
The high street of Bethesda is about 10 minutes walk and has a range of pubs, small supermarkets and takeaways. Tesco is open daily until 11pm.
The cottage has two bedrooms, one upstairs with double bed and ensuite showeroom and WC and one downstairs with two single beds.* Please note that one of the original elements of the cottage is a low entrance to and low ceilings in the downstairs bedroom (175cm from floor to ceiling). * There is a living room with 2 armchairs and sofa, a modern kitchen and a further shower room and WC. The living room has a woodburning stove and there are modern electric radiators throughout. The shower rooms have electric towelrails. There is a small TV with Chromecast and fast unlimited fibre broadband. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and electric oven with induction hob and provision of basic equipment and crockery. Outside there is a simple garden. Parking is on the street outside the property, but please note that James Street is very narrow and it may be easier to park in surrounding streets. Out of courtesy to our neighbours we request that you only park outside our cottage and not in front of other properties in the street.
Please note that we do not accept pets at the property and that we are not able to include supplies for the wood burner within the nightly rate.
Other things to note
please note pets are not permitted at this property

Y Cwt Fach is a garden cabin backing onto woodland next to Eryri, the Snowdonia National Park. It's a short stroll to local amenities and an ideal location for walking, biking, climbing and attractions such as Zip World and the Snowdonia Slate Trail. Public transport links into the Ogwen Valley and further afield, including Wales's highest peak, Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). It sleeps 2 in a comfy sofa futon, with additional low headroom mezzanine space for up to 2 accessed by ladder.
The space
Y Cwt Fach is a separate cabin a few metres from the main house. It is possible to sleep 4 but a bit of a squeeze - better for 2 or 3 adults, or 2 parents 2 children. Please note that it is a living/sleeping space only and that toilet, shower and kitchen are in the main house and shared with the family - the cabin is not ensuite.
Guest access
Cabin, bathroom, kitchen.
During your stay
I'm usually on hand or nearby when guests are staying, and contactable through the AirBnB app. I've got a lot of local knowledge and part of my work is in the outdoors teaching and guiding climbing, mountaineering and hillwalking. Outdoor enthusiasts particularly welcome!
Other things to note
The path to the cabin is uneven, the space is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible.
Parking is roadside outside the house - there is usually space but if it's possible for you to turn up in a single vehicle that is easier, especially during holiday periods.

Nestled in between the seaside and mountains is this homey little place. Eco friendly construction and items makes this an adventurous stay. A composting toilet and reused/recycled materials such as the flooring and wood cladding in the loft beds, and wheat straw dinner wear gives a feel of different ways to execute an eco friendly lifestyle. Multi use spaces and loft beds accessed via a ladder demonstrates 'tiny home' alternatives.
The space
This tiny home is in my back garden, which is currently under construction. It is shared with myself, my 2 sons and our dog, SABA who is a big old GSD. Unsurprisingly there may be toys in the garden, and there is a trampoline, which can be used under adult supervision as it does not have nets/sides.
To get to the tiny home there are 2 small sets of stairs and the path is uphill, making this inaccessible for some disabilities.
The tiny home was an art studio we lovingly converted using as many re-purposed items as we could, including slightly wonky wood cladding and hard wood flooring in the loft beds, and slate tiles we hand chipped the old sealant off the bottom of to reuse on the main floor with underfloor heating. The heating and electrics are powered off of the solar panels found on the main house (don't worry you will never run out of power). A large 'rain fall' electric shower feels amazing after a chilly walk in the mountains.
The kitchen has a combi oven and microwave with an under counter fridge with a small freezer compartment, a drip coffee maker (please bring your own grounds), a kettle and a 2 ring hob.
The bathroom features a Trobolo SilvaBlœm Composting Toilet, which sounds intimidating but is incredibly easy to use. This is no different from emptying the toilet in a camper, although more often as a group of 4 will need to empty the wee bottle daily at least. Links to see instructions and additional information about the composting toilet will be sent upon booking.
- please notes, guests will never have to empty the solids.
Although this tiny home is self catering, we do provide towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and bedding.
There is a small wood burning stove in the living room, in which we build your first fire, so it is ready to be lit when you arrive. A couple bits of kindling and logs are also provided, however the remaining fire wood will need to be purchased from the local shops.
Guest access
The main part of the garden featuring the lawn, bench swing, drying room (stone shed) BBQ and trampoline are available, however we do ask that you not venture to the top of the garden or in the old chicken run as they are not secured. There is also a brown shed that we request be left undisturbed.
The tiny house is of course available to you and 1 parking space on our 2 car drive. Please be mindful when parking that another vehicle needs to go next to yours.
Other things to note
**Prices listed are with a 10% discount and non-refundable cancelation policy - if you would like to change to our more flexible cancelation policy please select 'edit' beside the cancelation policy in the booking screen**
Unfortunately this property is not disability accessible including stairs to get to the property and loft beds (not full rooms) that are accessed via a ladder. If you are not comfortable climbing or crawling/hunching this may not be the right holiday let for you. Also please carefully consider if this is the right option with small children.
