- "confortable" - "On arrival we were met by our hosts. They took great care in showing us our home for the next two weeks. Gerard even took the trouble to take us to the supermarket as the direct route was closed due bridge reconstruction - most appreciated. The chalet was clean comfortable and well equipped. Endless supplies of hot water. There were only four us and we thought it would be a bit cosy if fully occupied with seven people. For us the location was excellent, 20 minute walk into town to make use of the bars, restaurants & good choice of supermarkets within easy walking distance. We found a footpath between the car wash and industrial estate to save keep driving. The whole atmosphere around the lake and surrounding area was charming. We made good use of local walks in the surrounding area starting from the front door of the chalet. The weekly market next to the church is a must if you are into local produce and cooking. We were lucky that our stay coincided with the start of the mushroom season. We ventured over to the wine region to see the medieval villages, castles and Colmar. The Eco museum near Guebweller is well worth a visit. The weather was excellent with only one spectacular thunderstorm as forecast. All in all we had a wonderful stay in Gerardmer and will definitely be returning."
