Chalet Candamo is a luxurious 5-bedroom chalet in the centre of Mürren, a traffic-free village; refurbished in 2010 to offer spacious and luxurious accommodation for 10 people, stylishly decorated and furnished, and intelligently designed for practical convenience and comfort.

The top floor of the chalet is given over to a splendid living space open to the eaves in the dining/living area where two sets of French windows open on to a balcony facing one of the most famous views in the Swiss Alps: the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau Mountains. The heavy oak dining table seats 10 with elbow room and 3 comfortable sofas are grouped around the glassed in wood-burning fire.

For the summer there is a secure garden with a BBQ and outdoor furniture so that you can relax and enjoy the amazing views.

Chalet Layout:

The ground floor has a front door which leads into a front hall with coat hooks and shoe racks.

There are two large bedrooms, with twinbeds that join as one if needed and plenty of wardrobe space; one bathroom with individual shower and bath, a laundry room, and a boot room with boot heaters and a ski rack with an outside door opening almost onto the piste.

The first floor comprises two large bedroom with superking beds, ample wardrobe space and balcony; one double bedroom again with a large wardrobe; one bath/shower room, one shower room/WC and one WC.

The top floor, the main living area, is open to the eaves, a south facing mainly glass aspect with a large balcony. It also has a shower room/WC, a semi open plan kitchen and a television room with a sofa bed and chest of draws which could double as a cooks bedroom if needed.

Chalet Layout:
The main entrance is located on the first floor which has a separate ski room for all ski equipment.
On entering Chalet Sofia you have a large boot room with many hooks for coats and a ski boot warmer for 16 pairs of ski boots.
On the first floor there is also a laundry room and the wellness spa which has a spacious Swedish sauna/steam room and a large covered Jacuzzi outside overlooking the most famous views in the Swiss Alps: Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau mountains. This is the perfect place to relax after-skiing while listening to your favourite music. There is also a separate shower and w/c.
The winding broad stair case that runs through the whole chalet then leads onto the second floor where 4 spacious bedrooms are located.
Bedroom 1 - Kingsize bed with double french doors opening onto a sun terrace.
Bedroom 2, 3 and 4 - All have 1 queen size bed and 3 singles configured in a bunk bed fashion. 2 of the bedrooms open out onto there own balconies with lounge area

The set-up of the bedrooms allows flexibility to accommodate many different group/family configurations.
On this level there are 2 bathrooms with a separate w/c and shower.
The family entertainment room is also on the second floor with cosy sofas and a movie theatre with a surround sound system.
The stairs then lead to the 3rd floor of Chalet Sofia and the most spectacular open plan living with vaulted ceilings and a state of the art kitchen. A large french style dining table that comfortably seats 12 while listening to the Bose surround sound music system. There are cosy sofas in-front of the large stone open fire place. The whole 3rd floor is surrounded by balconies where you can seat 12 for lunch or have a cosy kitchen breakfast while being surrounded by the tranquil mountains.
The master bedroom is on the 3rd floor that has a king size bed and a working cosy fireplace with double doors opening onto your private terrace with comfy chairs to sit and have your morning coffee in the sunshine while listening to the singing birds.
Bedroom 5 has its own en-suite bathroom with delux shower and w/c.

Murren is a cosy mountain village situated at 1650m at the foot of the ski mountain Schilthorn 2970m on a ridge of a 800m cliff drop above the Lauterbrunnen valley right across of the impressive Jungfrau massive. Murren is by many referred to as the most beautiful ski resort in the world. The village is car free and only reached by cable car/train. The cable car that leaves from Lauterbrunnen is reached by car from International airports in Bern (1 hour) Zurich, Basel and Geneva in approximate (2 hours) or by train in just over 3 hours.
Murren ski area is connected to two other ski resorts in Berner Oberland, Wengen and Grindelwald. Together they form the ski area Jungfrau that includes 44 lifts, 213km of pist with 98 different trails including the most famous one - The Lauberhorn Rennen in Wengen, the Alpine World Cup's longest downhill race.

The Chalet is wonderful and the views from the entire home are breathtaking and beautiful. The view exceeded all our expectations (and we saw all the pictures and social media videos beforehand). We had everything we needed. Waking up to the delicious espresso maker and adorable coffee drinking porch spot made each morning extra special! Also, the shower was so relaxing and spacious. We were lucky to meet the owner Rob and he is such an amazing, helpful guy! He recommended a restaurant (Oberland Hotel) that served delicious traditional Swiss fondue. One funny bonus thing about the rental is right out front is a well known photo spot so we enjoyed watching everyone make memories and take pictures there. On our last day we were treated to a few inches of snow and everything looked like a winter wonderland. We were a family of 4 with 2 teens and everyone agreed this place is exceptional!"

Our studio apartment at Chalet Pironnet is super cosy, clean and comfy and has some of the most stunning views of the Lauterbrunnen Valley. Also very conveniently located in the village but off the main road so it's nice and quiet. You will find the train and cable car stations, super market, bus stop, restaurants, café, shops all within a 1-8 min walk along the villages charming main street.

Attention, as this is a very old chalet, the room high is lower than normal!
Check in is at 18:00 earliest! But You can enter the house from 14:00 on. Please put your luggage in the living room as your room is not prepared before 18:00.

There are no grocery stores located at Gimmelwald!
Milk cheese and eggs, are sold by the local farmers.
You can buy food on the way to Gimmelwald. There are grocery stores/supermarkets in Lauterbrunnen (close to the train station), Wilderswil (at the train station) and Interlaken east (at the train station). During your stay the closest grocery store is located in Mürren (5 min by cableway or 1h walking).
The cost of the cablecar is around 7CHF and the operation times are from 05:55 - 23:40.

There are two Restaurants located in Gimmelwald serving food. Mountain Hostel and Pension Gimmelwald! There are more Restaurants located in Mürren (5 min by cableway) There are also Restaurants in Lauterbrunnen and Stechelberg.

The floors are separated by a common stairwell (that the guest in the top floor flat also use to access the laundry room) and can be locked separately if required. There is a large newly added balcony with a dining table and deck chairs, ideal for enjoying the beautiful mountain views. The shared laundry room, with new appliances, and skiroom are located on the garden floor.

Guest access
The object is two floors in a traditional Swiss chalet. The chalet is normally accessible by foot down a path that is moderately steep. At the moment part of the path has been replaced by stairs. There are three ways to access the chalet in case one of the paths has a lot of snow. A taxi service is available if you have a lot of luggage (as there are only two cars it’s good to reserve ahead). Pick up from Mürren BLM or Schilthornbahn is possible. Cost is 23CHF per way.

Please note that there is a local tourism tax applicable during your stay. This tax helps support the maintenance and services that enhance your experience in Murren. The tax in Mürren is CHF 5.60 per person and night (from 16 years of age), children 6-16 years of age CHF 2.40 per night and is payable at the Sports Centre desk during your stay.

If both units are rented the guests share the common entrance (outside of the units). The stairwell is used by all guests to access the units and laundry room and ski room. All units can be locked separately.

The space
The beautiful Swiss Chalet with the COMFORTS OF TODAY'S LIVING offers a SONOS sound system, free fast WiFi, Cable and Satellite TV, a Blue Ray and 2 DVD Player.

-First floor
A small stairway brings you to the middle floor of the house. Here you find the fully equipped kitchen, the living room with dining space and fireplace, one of the bedrooms (kingsize bed 180x200) and a bathroom with a walk-in shower, a washbasin and a toilet. From the living room, you can enter the balcony, from which you can enter the garden with terrace and outside fireplace. The wood for the 2 fireplaces is free.

-Second floor
On the top floor of the chalet, you will find 2 bedrooms, the main bathroom with bathtub, a walk-in shower, 2 washbasins and a toilet, as well as an open lounge space.
In the main bedroom en-suite, we offer a double bed (160x200). Just across the hallway, you will find a bedroom with 4 single beds (90x200). The lounge with 2 latex mattresses in the open lounge space, can also be used for 2 people to sleep on. Bedding itself is possible for 10 people.
For the little ones, we offer two child beds (60x120 cm). One full baby bed with slats and the second one is a travelling version, but also with a good mattress. We can put them up for you, together with a baby bath and a high chair.

-Ground floor
The ground floor offers, beside a washer and a dryer, a soccer table. On this floor, you will also find an extra fridge, an extra freezer, a microwave and shelves for extra storage. Here you can put your ski’s, ski shoes, mountain bikes and suitcases.

-The balcony, garden, terrace
From the balcony and from the garden you have an amazing view. For you to enjoy this in comfort, you can use the electric sun blind, covering the whole balcony, or you can use the electric heather.
In the garden, you find seating for 10 people, an outdoor fire place and a charcoal grill.

- Parking
The chalet offers parking space for 3 cars directly at the house. More cars can be parked at the parking of the Trümmelbach Falls. The walk from the house is 400 meters (app. 3-4 min).

-Bedding and towels
For each person, you will have a summer- and winter-duvet 150x200 with pillow, as well as one towel 100x150, one towel 50x100 and one wash cloth 30x30.

Guest access
You will have access to the whole house with indoor fire place, the surrounding garden with outdoor fire place and grill and to the 3 private parking spaces.

1.Do I have to pay local taxes?
Yes. Taxes adults CHF 3.40 per night, children 6 – 16 CHF 1.20 per night. Children under the age of 6 are free of taxes. The guest tax card gives you reduction on several tourist attractions: 10% Trümmelbach Falls, 33% Valley Museum Lauterbrunnen (‘Talmuseum’), 10% rent Tennis court, 25% Cable Car Isenfluh – Sulwald, free use of ice rink and cross country skiing trail. For more reductions ask the local tourist office.

2.Does the house have privacy?
The house itself offers a lot of privacy. But still it is easy accessible from the road. The distance to the first neighbor is 200m. The neighbor at the other side is the village Lauterbrunnen itself, which is approximately 1,5 km from the house. The views that you can see on the website, are the views directly from the house itself. See the photos 21 ,22 and 23: the neighbor's house is behind the second row of trees in the middle. In summer, their terrace is at the other side of their house.

During the day, others can’t look in the windows. At night, there are no street lights. When the lights in the house are one, you can close the curtains. There are curtains in front of all windows, except for the kitchen. Here you can close the blinds. But these windows are high and facing the woods, so nobody can look in. If you want, there are blinds for all windows.

3.Is the house quiet?
The house is easy accessible from the road. This is the road, which comes from Lauterbrunnen and goes past the famous Trümmelbach Falls, to the end of the valley. If you are in the house, you can hardly hear the passing cars, but if you go outside you will see and hear them.

4.How is the bedding at the house?
We have full beds for 8 people. In two rooms, you find 6 beds 90x200 (1x 4 and 1x 2). In the master bedroom, there is one bed 160x200. Two more mattresses are present. They are of very good quality, but on the floor as visible on picture 17 on the website. Bedding itself is of course for 10. For each person you will have a summer- and winter-duvet 150x200 with pillow and towels.

Particularly special is the direct connection to the ski slope and hiking trails, sauna with Alpine views, fireplace, high-quality and luxurious amenities. Mürren is car-free and can be reached by mountain railway from Lauterbrunnen or by gondola from Stechelberg.

In the Bernese Oberland you will find fantastic viewpoints, traditional mountain railways, idyllic hiking trails and great skiing in winter. Mürren is a picturesque mountain village with impressive views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Also known is the legendary Schilthorn, which was used as the location of the James Bond film "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" in 1969. Even today, James Bond clearly shapes the Schilthorn. There is a 007 Walk of Fame, Bond World or a Bond Cinema on the "Piz Gloria."
