Chalet Candamo is a luxurious 5-bedroom chalet in the centre of Mürren, a traffic-free village; refurbished in 2010 to offer spacious and luxurious accommodation for 10 people, stylishly decorated and furnished, and intelligently designed for practical convenience and comfort.

The top floor of the chalet is given over to a splendid living space open to the eaves in the dining/living area where two sets of French windows open on to a balcony facing one of the most famous views in the Swiss Alps: the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau Mountains. The heavy oak dining table seats 10 with elbow room and 3 comfortable sofas are grouped around the glassed in wood-burning fire.

For the summer there is a secure garden with a BBQ and outdoor furniture so that you can relax and enjoy the amazing views.

Guests will notice many personal and homely touches in the chalet and those with an interest in skiing history will notice many decorative details

Chalet Layout:

The ground floor has a front door which leads into a front hall with coat hooks and shoe racks.

There are two large bedrooms, with twinbeds that join as one if needed and plenty of wardrobe space; one bathroom with individual shower and bath, a laundry room, and a boot room with boot heaters and a ski rack with an outside door opening almost onto the piste.

The first floor comprises two large bedroom with superking beds, ample wardrobe space and balcony; one double bedroom again with a large wardrobe; one bath/shower room, one shower room/WC and one WC.

The top floor, the main living area, is open to the eaves, a south facing mainly glass aspect with a large balcony. It also has a shower room/WC, a semi open plan kitchen and a television room with a sofa bed and chest of draws which could double as a cooks bedroom if needed.

This spectacular new freestanding Chalet with its beautiful old wood exterior is traditionally Swiss but once inside the kitchen and bathrooms showcase ultra modern high quality design and function.
The Chalet is set in a quiet secluded private location in the prestine mountain nature but only 2 minutes walk to the Murren BLM train station with a 5 minute ride or walk to the ski- lifts.
From the Chalet's large balcony's you will be a part of the grand spectacle of nature when you enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the legendary mountains of Eiger, Munch and Jungfrau.
The free standing Chalet has three floors where the top floor is dedicated to stylish open plan living. Comfortably seating 12 around a large french style wooden table and state of the art kitchen. With a large open stone fire place at its heart. Double height ceilings with many windows and surrounded by balconies all facing the spectacular Jungfrau massive and the legendary north wall of the Eiger.

Chalet Layout:
The main entrance is located on the first floor which has a separate ski room for all ski equipment.
On entering Chalet Sofia you have a large boot room with many hooks for coats and a ski boot warmer for 16 pairs of ski boots.
On the first floor there is also a laundry room and the wellness spa which has a spacious Swedish sauna/steam room and a large covered Jacuzzi outside overlooking the most famous views in the Swiss Alps: Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau mountains. This is the perfect place to relax after-skiing while listening to your favourite music. There is also a separate shower and w/c.
The winding broad stair case that runs through the whole chalet then leads onto the second floor where 4 spacious bedrooms are located.
Bedroom 1 - Kingsize bed with double french doors opening onto a sun terrace.
Bedroom 2, 3 and 4 - All have 1 queen size bed and 3 singles configured in a bunk bed fashion. 2 of the bedrooms open out onto there own balconies with lounge area
and un-interupted views of the surrounding mountains.
The set-up of the bedrooms allows flexibility to accommodate many different group/family configurations.
On this level there are 2 bathrooms with a separate w/c and shower.
The family entertainment room is also on the second floor with cosy sofas and a movie theatre with a surround sound system.
The stairs then lead to the 3rd floor of Chalet Sofia and the most spectacular open plan living with vaulted ceilings and a state of the art kitchen. A large french style dining table that comfortably seats 12 while listening to the Bose surround sound music system. There are cosy sofas in-front of the large stone open fire place. The whole 3rd floor is surrounded by balconies where you can seat 12 for lunch or have a cosy kitchen breakfast while being surrounded by the tranquil mountains.
The master bedroom is on the 3rd floor that has a king size bed and a working cosy fireplace with double doors opening onto your private terrace with comfy chairs to sit and have your morning coffee in the sunshine while listening to the singing birds.
Bedroom 5 has its own en-suite bathroom with delux shower and w/c.
There is also a separate w/c on this level.

Murren is a cosy mountain village situated at 1650m at the foot of the ski mountain Schilthorn 2970m on a ridge of a 800m cliff drop above the Lauterbrunnen valley right across of the impressive Jungfrau massive. Murren is by many referred to as the most beautiful ski resort in the world. The village is car free and only reached by cable car/train. The cable car that leaves from Lauterbrunnen is reached by car from International airports in Bern (1 hour) Zurich, Basel and Geneva in approximate (2 hours) or by train in just over 3 hours.
Murren ski area is connected to two other ski resorts in Berner Oberland, Wengen and Grindelwald. Together they form the ski area Jungfrau that includes 44 lifts, 213km of pist with 98 different trails including the most famous one - The Lauberhorn Rennen in Wengen, the Alpine World Cup's longest downhill race.
Murren is the birthplace of alpine skiing. It was here ski tourism was born in the early 1900s and the first competition in slalom was arranged here in 1922. Since then Murren is one of the few exclusive ski resorts that has arranged Alpine World Championship twice, the first one in the history was 1931.
The relative few number of hotels and tourist beds in Murren versus the size of the lift system is unusual in the Alps and results in a laid back and relaxing atmosphere without any queuing at the lifts.

You can reach Mürren by:

Train via Lauterbrunnen, then continue with the BLM (Berner Oberland Railway)
Car or bus to Stechelberg, then take the Schilthornbahn (cable car) directly to Mürren.

Recommendation:

We recommend taking the Schilthornbahn – it’s comfortable, quick, and offers stunning scenic views. There is a large parking lot and a bus stop right at the valley station in Stechelberg.

Beautiful, comfortable and high quality equipped holiday apartment on the ground floor and garden floor of a traditional chalet. The house is just 200 m from the Schilthornbahn, the steepest gondola in the world. Quiet and centrally located in the car-free village of Mürren with easy access to the ski and hiking area. Lovely new large deck for enjoying the beautiful mountain views. For 4 up to 7 (max 8) persons.

The space
The two floors in the charming traditional chalet provides enough space for a family or larger party up to 7 (max 8) persons. The floors are separated by a common stairwell (that the guest in the top floor flat also use to access the laundry room) and can be locked separately if required. There is a large newly added balcony with a dining table and deck chairs, ideal for enjoying the beautiful mountain views. The shared laundry room, with new appliances, and skiroom are located on the garden floor.

Guest access
The object is two floors in a traditional Swiss chalet. The chalet is normally accessible by foot down a path that is moderately steep. At the moment part of the path has been replaced by stairs. There are three ways to access the chalet in case one of the paths has a lot of snow. A taxi service is available if you have a lot of luggage (as there are only two cars it’s good to reserve ahead). Pick up from Mürren BLM or Schilthornbahn is possible. Cost is 23CHF per way.

Other things to note
Please note that there is a local tourism tax applicable during your stay. This tax helps support the maintenance and services that enhance your experience in Murren. The tax in Mürren is CHF 5.60 per person and night (from 16 years of age), children 6-16 years of age CHF 2.40 per night and is payable at the Sports Centre desk during your stay.

If both units are rented the guests share the common entrance (outside of the units). The stairwell is used by all guests to access the units and laundry room and ski room. All units can be locked separately.

Mürren is car-free and can be reached by mountain railway from Lauterbrunnen or by gondola from Stechelberg.

Other things to note
In the Bernese Oberland you will find fantastic viewpoints, traditional mountain railways, idyllic hiking trails and great skiing in winter. Mürren is a picturesque mountain village with impressive views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Also known is the legendary Schilthorn, which was used as the location of the James Bond film "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" in 1969. Even today, James Bond clearly shapes the Schilthorn. There is a 007 Walk of Fame, Bond World or a Bond Cinema on the "Piz Gloria."
