The amenities listed air conditioning, a bathroom, a kitchenette, etc. With those things, we thought there would be some sort of electricity. The listing also told me to call 48 hours in advance of the arrival date to get check in instructions. I was not able to reach anyone until a few hours before arrival. I was told it was a “primitive” site. However, I was also told that there would be power - an adaptor/battery would be a source of power. I was also told there was a 24 hour taxi service to get us from boat to shower and back being as though the boat itself was surrounded by water. Neither the power nor the taxi service were ever available. When wanting to get to the shore, we had to wait several hours for the host to come get us. We were finally given a dinghy. But the battery to it was taken. The host was hardly ever reachable and we were left in the water stranded for hours. The “bathroom” in the boat was a barely working toilet that begin backing up on the last night. Into our boat. Again, the host was not reachable. I was given a waiver to sign that had already been signed. We were told about several other “check ins” throughout the weekend that never actually arrived. The boat was very dirty. There was no running water or working bathroom as we were told there was. We were left stranded. "

- "No communication. The host told us 6:00 when the check in was 4:00. Then she changed it to 7:00. Then after 8 but after 9:00 and no show . It was dark ans we watched everyone pulling out their boats and jet skis. No one ever asked us why we were there. No approached us asking if we were waiting to be taken out to our house bot that I paid for in advance and refused a refund. We had a toddler Thea was screaming. The sand fleas were biting. We didn’t want to leave to get milk for him on account they they may show. The host would not answer me . She had someone else call me who didn’t even call me by my name. She tried to talk me into being patient so we went to get dinner and came back. I told her we had landed on watching the sun set on the boat. She promised us that she would meet us and never showed and never called until after 9 at which point we left to drive home because we had been patient enough. She hasn’t apologized to me or offered a refund because if her neglect. It was HELL!"

- "Booked a two night, weekend stay. the “property” is an abandoned vessel moored about 200 yards off shore accessible by watercraft only. No running water. ‘Water provided’ for personal hygiene and sanitary uses consisted of six sixteen ounce bottles and one 1 gallon jug half full. The onboard toilet was inoperable and ‘maintenance’ never arrived to remedy the situation. Spent the first night with the smell of human waste in the air. Transportation to and from the abandoned vessel is offered via a ‘water taxi service’. After paying for ‘unlimited’ transport for two people ($25 per person) we were taken back to shore by Captains Sammie, to spend the day visiting the surrounding area. Upon our return in the evening, we called Sammie for a return trip around 6 pm and were told she was on her way. An hour and a half later, after multiple text messages and unanswered voicemails we realized that we had been screwed. Thanks to a couple that we met on the dock while waiting for the return trip, we were able to get back to the boat and retrieve our personal belongings. We didn’t stay the second night of our booking. "

When we saw this unique listing we decided to surprise the family and try it out. The boat and the location did not disappoint. The marina is private with security and very quiet. You can dock your boat at our private dock (located at the property). If you love fishing, the trout and redfish are plentiful. Scollop Season is a wonderful, fun time here! Golf cart friendly, with the best sunsets ever!! There is a golf cart trail that runs from Dark Island past Cedar Island to Keaton Beach. Boat ramp available 100 yards from property. Keaton Beach is 3 miles north and Steinhattchee is 14 miles south. Many restaurant choices are available.

Goat House Farm is a 501(c)3 nonprofit educational farm. All profits go toward supporting the mission of the farm.

Come and de-stress by snuggling our goats. These bouncing bundles of joy are guaranteed to make you smile! We also have chickens, peacocks, honeybees, and even a pig. We are near Tallahassee but in a rural area, down a bumpy dirt road, but we promise the trip is worth it. Kayaking and hiking right off the property, plus beautiful sunsets on the lake.

We offer a roomy water resistant tent with a queen and a twin bed. There is no electricity in our tent, but you may charge your devices in the common room.
Please note that we change our tents rather often so the outside may be different but the inside configuration is the same.
There are goats in the camping areas so dogs are not allowed at this site.

We provide water, wifi, and fresh fruit for the picking when in season. We also have several extras from the farm you can request when you book such as our famous farm fresh biscuits with honey butter, milk, cookies, bread, fudge, and goat milk soap.

We have a small outdoor kitchen area with grill, stove, utensils, and picnic table. Basic cooking ingredients are provided (oil, salt, pepper, etc).

There is also a common room with sofas, fridge, microwave, tv, coffee, french presses, and tea kettle.

We have a small rustic bath house with hot shower and a composting toilet. Soap, shampoo, conditioner, and fresh towels provided.

There are also water spigots in the camping area.

Common areas and bath house is about 250 feet from camping area, which is located adjacent to the pasture.

Check-in/Check-out time may be flexible depending upon concurrent bookings! We ask that you clear your campsite by 11am, but you are welcome to spend the remainder of the day hanging out with the goats, kayaking, or just relaxing.

Private and group goat yoga classes may be available during your stay.

Unless you are a returning guest, please arrive before 7pm. Remember, there is an hour time difference if coming from the west. Late arrivals interfere with our milking and chore routine and we cannot stop milking to show you around. Farm folks also hit the hay pretty early! Please do not book and then tell us you will be arriving late. Thank you.

Bug Spray - Please be aware that beginning in mid-May for about six weeks is yellow fly season in north Florida!

We are located at the end of a bumpy 3/4 mile dirt road off Highway 20/Blountstown Hwy on the lake. Part of the road is paved, but most is dirt and we are prone to flooding after more than a couple of days of hard rain. We have several cars in the neighborhood that don't have a problem on the road, but - full disclosure! If bumpy dirt roads bother you, our road in is not for you. We - and most of our guests - think it is worth it.

We offer a 10% discount for FFA, all goat and dairy association memberships, and 4H, just send your number when you book.

Note: This is Florida and a farm in the forest. There are bugs and spiders on the property. One may even end up in your space! Due to a previous guest's complaint about finding a bug in their tent, I thought I should make sure everyone knows it happens! You may also find a frog or two in the bath house. We love all of our critters here (ok, not fire ants. We kill them with joy).

Visiting the Farm
1. NUMBER ONE: Be respectful to the animals. They are always a priority here. Use caution around the goats. While they are friendly and we’ve never had a problem, they are horned and can be dangerous. Any abuse toward the animals, physical or verbal, will terminate your stay immediately.
2. Children are not allowed in the main pasture or chicken coops without adult supervision.
3. Please use chemical products minimally. We are an organic farm and what you use eventually goes into the soil and the lake.
4. Keep all trash in a closed container. The wild critters will find it and make a mess. All recycling, with the exception of styrofoam should go in the green recycling can. Please do recycle. The well water is double filtered and perfectly safe to drink, so bottled water isn't necessary.
5. Do not litter on the farm, in fact if you happen to find any garbage please help us out and pick it up so the animals don’t eat it!
6. The refrigerator in the common room is a community fridge for campers and workcampers. Feel free to use it! Everything around the coffee pot and on the shelves is fair game too! Fridge is cleaned out on Wednesdays so if you have something there please mark it or let us know.
7. The gates to the pasture should ALWAYS be latched and looped. If one goat sees it open, he or she will call everyone else and they will make for the woods!
8. We strive for an environmentally sustainable lifestyle. Try to keep electric consumption in mind, and turn off anything not in use.
9. Do not feed any of the animals without asking first.
10. Campfires must never be left unattended.
11. DO NOT speed down the driveway. Sometimes kids get out and often chickens are hanging out along the way.
12. Dogs are not allowed in the pasture. NO EXCEPTIONS. EVER.
13. No smoking in barn, coops, manger, nursery, pasture, cottage, or in our tents.
14. If you have any issues at all, please let us know and we will make it right. Negative reviews are particularly difficult for hosts to recover from! We pride ourselves on offering a unique and comfortable camping experience and want you to be happy!

Tent Rules
1. Take your shoes off before entering the tent. It is never fun to sleep with dirt. There is a shoe rack outside the tent.
2. If you decide you don't want to walk to the toilet, please don't leave toilet paper in the woods (we can't believe we have to say this).
3. Please do not leave food or eat in the tent. It may disappoint the ants, but they will host a party in the tent and it is difficult to get them to leave. And, they bite. Hard.
4. Please leave your used towels in the basket by the laundry machines in the common room. No need to strip the bed, we will take care of that.
5. Dispose of your trash and recycling in the proper receptacles by the fence.
6. CLOSE door and all windows when you leave. It is Florida, it could rain in ten minutes through the sunshine and mosquitoes will move in.

Christian Retreat Campsite #1 - Genesis. Genesis is the closest campsite to the parking area that we offer and because of that it has the least privacy and is a 15 second walk from the parking area/port-a-potty to the campsite.

Sleep under the stars with your own fire & cozy camp spot on our 15 acre Christian Retreat! We have 16 miles of hiking & mountain biking trails available along with catch & release fishing and disc golf! Each campsite includes a picnic table & fire pit ring with grill rack. God gave us this property in 2021 as a gift to all Christian people for their enjoyment and fellowship!

The camp store has basic supplies for sale including fire wood, charcoal, lighter fluid, bug spray, sunscreen, plates, cups, bowl, silverware, grilling tools, flashlights, headlamps, tarps, tiki torches, tents, sleeping bags, hammocks & more! The supplies available for rent are tents, sleeping bags, hammocks, and tiki torches. The camp store is open only during daylight hours!

Guests have full access to the outdoor areas of our 15 acres Christian Retreat plus the 1,000+ acres of wildlife management adjacent to our property including 16 miles of hiking and mountain biking trails and river water access.

We live on site so we're available by call/text or knocking on our front door.

CHRISTIAN RETREAT CAMPGROUND RULES

Thank you for staying at our Christian retreat! Below are some ground rules to make your stay enjoyable for everyone.

*** All campers must check-in at the camp store upon arrival. *** Check-in time is DAYLIGHT HOURS ONLY: 1:00pm until Sunset daily. No exceptions!
Check-out time is at 11:00am.

-No pets on the property of any kind. Camp sites are for 2 people only... $5 extra per person!

-No smoking on our property including but not limited to tobacco, marijuana, e-cigs, vaping, or Delta 8/9. There is a $500 FINE for smoking or the smell of any smoke on our property. Also no illegal drug use including mushrooms, edible marijuana, etc.

-Alcohol is permitted but no drunkenness or disorderly conduct will be permitted. Any camper using profane language or who is intoxicated, or, in the opinion of Campground management, is acting in such a manner that may be injurious or annoying to others will be asked to leave the Campground immediately with no refund. We will call the police.

-Quiet hours are from 10pm to 9am. No loud music permitted at any time. No power equipment use is allowed during quiet hours. Please be safe and considerate of your neighbors. Respect the privacy of others and do not trespass on their camp sites.

-All trash must be in trash bags and should be taken to the trash bin by the camp store. Any trash left behind will result in a $100 FINE. Do not place trash outside overnight as animals will spread it. Please put all trash in trash bags before placing it in the trash bin.

-Please put out all fires completely before leaving. Campfires must remain inside your fire ring, flames within reason above the fire ring (NOT higher then 3 ft.) and please do not burn trash or wood containing nails. Do not move the fire ring. Charcoal grills may not be used on top of our picnic tables. Do not dump charcoal or firewood ashes on the ground outside the fire ring.

-Do not chop down any trees or use the wooden trail markers for fire wood. No defacing of trees, shrubs, rocks or removal of any plants or trees is permitted.

-No going #2 in the woods… please use the port-a-potty. No nudity at any time.

-No hunting or shooting firearms at any time. Fireworks and gas lanterns are strictly prohibited. Fishing is catch and release only. No swimming in the pond.

-The Campground and staff are NOT RESPONSIBLE for watching or supervising children AT ANY TIME. Children under the age of sixteen must be always supervised by a responsible adult and must be on the camp site they belong to every night by sunset.

-No refunds will be given for inclement weather or early departures. Check before you come!

-Christian Retreat Campground including all officers and employees are not liable for injuries or death caused by, but NOT LIMITED TO, the following activities: CAMPING, CAMPFIRES, HIKING, FISHING, RENTAL OR ENTERTAINMENT EQUIPMENT, DISC GOLF, PLANNED EVENTS, ANIMALS, PLANTS, WEATHER, WATER, TRASH, OTHER GUESTS, OR ANY OTHER ACTIVITY ON OUR PROPERTY. Campground is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
