Carr Valley cheese just 15 minutes away, 40 minutes from the Dells and a grocery store 10 minutes away. The Elroy-Sparta bike trail is located in the next town. Also we are15 minutes to Wildcat Mountain State Park.

You are only allowed to bring KILN DRIED FIREWOOD. Do NOT bring firewood onto this property unless it is marked Kiln Dried. It is easy to find at most gas stations, Home Depot, etc. Kiln Dried wood is bug free. Oak Wilt is prevalent in this area of Wisconsin and can be devastating to a forest. Don’t wait until you get to the property to start looking for it, buy it on the way to the cabin. Very important, thank you.

Relaxing country getaway. No Pets Allowed. Located 9 miles for Richland Center on a dead end road. No traffic just quiet and the sound of birds. Only 40 minutes from Wisconsin Dells Attractions and 30 miles from House on the Rock and American Players Theatre. Several local wineries within 20 miles. Walking trails on property in the summer. We are a fragrance fee unit in that we realize that some people are sensitive to or have allergies to fragrances, so we use fragrance free Laundry detergent and dryer sheets. We all do not use any kind of fragrance odor devices in the house.

This is a 110 year old Craftsman bungalow in a peaceful, rural small town setting. The house has a mix of original woodwork and fixtures with some newer restoration and finishes that preserve the character of the home.

Note: The house has Wi-Fi set up! Depending on your cell provider, signal outside can be spotty in this area - US cellular seems to be best but I’ve also been okay with T-Mobile. Generally calls/texts are fine but phone internet is hit and miss.

In other words: I realize this may not be ideal for every traveler! I’ll communicate prior to check in about your sleeping arrangements to make sure bedding and towels are ready. Kitchen has a range of cookware, oils and vinegars and spices, cooking/baking tools etc. Please communicate if you have extensive kitchen plans so that we can be sure to clean and check stock of supplies.

The attic, basement, and garage are off limits to guests at this time. (For longer stays, we can discuss basement access for laundry.)

The Shopkeeper’s Apartment in Yuba is the lower rear apartment in a 4-unit commercial brick building. The historically renovated space has a mix of old and new, with hardwood floors, a few restored wooden windows, and a full kitchen and bathroom with a walk-in shower. The apartment is located in the quaint village of Yuba (pop. 53), which is the smallest incorporated village in Wisconsin, 15 minutes (11 miles) from Hillsboro. Most days, you can grab a drink and meal next door at Louie's Bar.

This is a century+ old building that has been updated with modern amenities. The bank opened in 1919 and folded in the Great Depression. For many years, it was a restaurant, serving patrons at the dance hall next door (now Louie's Bar & Grill). The Shopkeeper's apartment was probably added to the building in the ~1940's, for the business/building owner to live in. We're breathing new life into this historic space. Enjoy the natural light and fresh air coming from a mix of restored and modern windows, as well as a backyard and grill.

The warm tones, wood grain, and textured textiles used throughout will wrap you up in "koselig" -the Norwegian word for cozy. The space is perfect for a couple or a small family.

Curl up with a good book in the cozy window nook of the bedroom. Enjoy cooking in a kitchenette that has everything you need for simple meals. Delight in your morning coffee ritual with our coffee & tea area. The separate, full bathroom has on-demand hot water for long showers. Sleep comfortably on a king bed and if family or another couple join you the Queen-sized Murphy bed is also very comfortable.

The cabin's high-speed WiFi allows guests to stay connected to work or school while enjoying a Driftless Area getaway. The patio of over 350 square feet of stamped concrete was designed to give privacy and fantastic views of the pond, hills, and wildlife. Comfortable patio furniture and an LP gas fire pit, provides a great place to have a romantic dinner.

We put a focus on large, vented/screened windows that flood the space with morning and afternoon light. In the summer, open the windows to hear the tree frogs and crickets chirp away. The window locations were designed so that no neighbors are situated to see directly into the cabin. Window coverings are provided on all the windows and the front door to give privacy.

This is a multi-site property consisting of 3 modern buildings with a shared driveway and entry point with separate parking areas for each cabin. Signage at the road's edge will greet you and solar lights will light the way up the driveway. There is one other rental cabin at the rear of the property (The Walnut) and another utility (The Cedar) cabin in the middle area with a 6-person Finnish-style dry sauna/laundry on-site. The nearest neighbor is a half-mile away consisting of our extended family, as well as our home.

- "We have been renting entire homes for our vacations (and sometimes other types of travel, too) for at least ten years now, so we have seen quite a few properties and this one is rather unique. I don't often come across pet friendly historic houses with lots of acreage AND an indoor pool. It was just what we were looking for. FYI, since it was not entirely clear to me from the info in the listing, the indoor pool remains in operation during the winter months and is heated to a nice temperature. Worth noting, because sometimes indoor pools are closed during the cold months.This property was relatively new to the rental market when we stayed there, and the furniture all appeared to be brand new (other than the antique chair in the room with the wood stove).We were lucky enough to be there on a clear night with a new moon - the star-gazing was spectacular! We could have used the outdoor fire pit, but the outdoor temperature was still a bit too cold at night for us to motivate ourselves to do so. It looks like a great fire pit, though, and it is nicely located right by a door to the pool area. This would be a lovely place for a midsummer celebration.We did enjoy the indoor wood stove a good bit. We appreciate that abundant fire wood is provided.Some advice: our cell service (Verizon) wasn't great at the house, so bring screen shots or print outs of the info you need to get in the house so you have it on hand for the few minutes between your arrival and the time that you are up and running on the wifi. Be sure to have a flashlight on hand if there is a chance that you will arrive after sunset - presumably everyone has a flashlight on their phone at this point, but I thought I would mention this just in case."

We are in the core of the Driftless Area and the Annual Hill & Valley Exploration Tour: A celebration of rural living (HVETour) which occurs on the last two full weekends in September. The HVETour features local farms and businesses that direct sell to the public. Gays Mills apple orchards are just one hour west.

The Yuba State Bank Apartment is the lower front apartment in a 4-unit commercial brick building. The historically renovated space has a mix of old and new, with hardwood floors, large storefront windows, a full kitchen and bathroom, and the bank vault off one of the two bedrooms. The apartment is located in the quaint village of Yuba (pop. 53), which is the smallest incorporated village in Wisconsin, 15 minutes (11 miles) from Hillsboro. You can grab a drink and meal next door at Louie's Bar.

This is a century old building that has been updated with modern amenities. The bank opened in 1919 and folded in the Great Depression. For many years, it was a restaurant, serving patrons at the dance hall next door (now Louie's Bar & Grill). We're breathing new life into this historic space. Enjoy the natural light coming from large storefront windows.

The cabin's high-speed WiFi allows guests to stay connected to work or school while enjoying a Driftless Area getaway. The patio of over 350 square feet of stamped concrete was designed to give privacy and fantastic views of the pond, hills, and wildlife right on the doorstep. There is an outdoor clawfoot bathtub for bathing under the stars and bistro lights. Comfortable patio furniture, an LP gas fire pit, and the ability to roll the table easily outside provides a great place to have a romantic dinner.

We put a focus on large, vented/screened windows that flood the space with morning and afternoon light. In the summer, open the windows to hear the tree frogs and crickets chirp away. The window locations were designed so that no neighbors are situated to see directly into the cabin. Window coverings are provided on all the windows and the front door to give privacy.

We are 10 minutes from Richland Center and the AD German Warehouse designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, 25 minutes from Spring Green, 25 minutes from Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin and American Players Theater, 45 minutes from Devil's Lake, Wisconsin Dells, and Viroqua. There is kayaking on the Pine River, bike riding on the Pine River Trail, hiking, and snowshoeing can be done on the property and nearby Ash Creek Forest. 14) Children should at all times be supervised at our property by adults
15) When walking to the lakefront, the stairs must be used; no walking on the rock formations
16) Due to local town ordinance, no camping or pitching tents is allowed outdoors on property
17) A $500 security deposit pre-authorization may be placed on your form of payment during your stay. This "pre-auth" will be automatically released within seven (7) days.
18) For safety reasons, please do not touch, remove, or modify Internet access or safety/security gear.
19) Monitoring devices are in place to detect excessive noise that may be heard by neighbors. Automated SMS alerts will be sent as guidance to guests advising of excessive noise. If excessive noise persists, we reserve the right to visit the home to remediate. Any home visit due to noise response will result in a $200 disturbance fee. (However, allowances are certainly made for noise beyond guests' control.)
20) The hot tub may be used only during regular hours; refrain from using the hot tub during quiet hours (10PM - 8AM)
21) Instructions and rules for use of the sauna and hot tub, posted on signs next to each, must be followed at all times. Booking the home for rental constitutes acceptance of all sauna and hot tub use rules. Guests agree to indemnify hosts for not following rules for use of the sauna and hot tub.
22) We reserve the right to evict any guest or visitor who fails to adhere to the House Rules.

- "Location and views were amazing! Very quiet and peaceful neighborhood. Boating on the lake, anchoring for lunch and swimming were our favorite! Host was very attentive and detailed. " - "Had a great time with family! Beautiful views from the windows and decks. Boat was in perfect condition but there are around 100 steps down to the dock so be aware. Kitchen was amazingly stocked and the gas grill was top notch. Fred was prompt in responding to our concerns. On the flip side there is room for improvement: No drawers anywhere to put clothes in so had to live out of suitcases for the week. Only 1 TV, another would be nice on main level. The living room sofas could use an upgrade. But our biggest concern was the quality of the water. Plan on buying some for your stay. It comes out of the faucets brown and the toilets are rusty. It literally turned our skin orange. You will definitely need bottled water for cooking, drinking, and brushing your teeth. All in all we had a great family vacation."
