Carr Valley cheese just 15 minutes away, 40 minutes from the Dells and a grocery store 10 minutes away. The Elroy-Sparta bike trail is located in the next town. Also we are15 minutes to Wildcat Mountain State Park.

You are only allowed to bring KILN DRIED FIREWOOD. Do NOT bring firewood onto this property unless it is marked Kiln Dried. It is easy to find at most gas stations, Home Depot, etc. Kiln Dried wood is bug free. Oak Wilt is prevalent in this area of Wisconsin and can be devastating to a forest. Don’t wait until you get to the property to start looking for it, buy it on the way to the cabin. Very important, thank you.

Relaxing country getaway. No Pets Allowed. Located 9 miles for Richland Center on a dead end road. No traffic just quiet and the sound of birds. Only 40 minutes from Wisconsin Dells Attractions and 30 miles from House on the Rock and American Players Theatre. Several local wineries within 20 miles. Walking trails on property in the summer. We are a fragrance fee unit in that we realize that some people are sensitive to or have allergies to fragrances, so we use fragrance free Laundry detergent and dryer sheets. We all do not use any kind of fragrance odor devices in the house.

This is a 110 year old Craftsman bungalow in a peaceful, rural small town setting. The house has a mix of original woodwork and fixtures with some newer restoration and finishes that preserve the character of the home.

Note: The house has Wi-Fi set up! Depending on your cell provider, signal outside can be spotty in this area - US cellular seems to be best but I’ve also been okay with T-Mobile. Generally calls/texts are fine but phone internet is hit and miss.

In other words: I realize this may not be ideal for every traveler! The Shopkeeper’s Apartment in Yuba is the lower rear apartment in a 4-unit commercial brick building. The historically renovated space has a mix of old and new, with hardwood floors, a few restored wooden windows, and a full kitchen and bathroom with a walk-in shower. The apartment is located in the quaint village of Yuba (pop. 53), which is the smallest incorporated village in Wisconsin, 15 minutes (11 miles) from Hillsboro. Most days, you can grab a drink and meal next door at Louie's Bar.

This is a century+ old building that has been updated with modern amenities. The bank opened in 1919 and folded in the Great Depression. For many years, it was a restaurant, serving patrons at the dance hall next door (now Louie's Bar & Grill). The Shopkeeper's apartment was probably added to the building in the ~1940's, for the business/building owner to live in. We're breathing new life into this historic space. Enjoy the natural light and fresh air coming from a mix of restored and modern windows, as well as a backyard and grill.

The cabin's high-speed WiFi allows guests to stay connected to work or school while enjoying a Driftless Area getaway. The patio of over 350 square feet of stamped concrete was designed to give privacy and fantastic views of the pond, hills, and wildlife. Comfortable patio furniture and an LP gas fire pit, provides a great place to have a romantic dinner.

We put a focus on large, vented/screened windows that flood the space with morning and afternoon light. In the summer, open the windows to hear the tree frogs and crickets chirp away. The window locations were designed so that no neighbors are situated to see directly into the cabin. Window coverings are provided on all the windows and the front door to give privacy.

This is a multi-site property consisting of 3 modern buildings with a shared driveway and entry point with separate parking areas for each cabin. Signage at the road's edge will greet you and solar lights will light the way up the driveway. There is one other rental cabin at the rear of the property (The Walnut) and another utility (The Cedar) cabin in the middle area with a 6-person Finnish-style dry sauna/laundry on-site. The nearest neighbor is a half-mile away consisting of our extended family, as well as our home.

- "We have been renting entire homes for our vacations (and sometimes other types of travel, too) for at least ten years now, so we have seen quite a few properties and this one is rather unique. I don't often come across pet friendly historic houses with lots of acreage AND an indoor pool. It was just what we were looking for. FYI, since it was not entirely clear to me from the info in the listing, the indoor pool remains in operation during the winter months and is heated to a nice temperature. Worth noting, because sometimes indoor pools are closed during the cold months.This property was relatively new to the rental market when we stayed there, and the furniture all appeared to be brand new (other than the antique chair in the room with the wood stove).We were lucky enough to be there on a clear night with a new moon - the star-gazing was spectacular! We could have used the outdoor fire pit, but the outdoor temperature was still a bit too cold at night for us to motivate ourselves to do so. It looks like a great fire pit, though, and it is nicely located right by a door to the pool area. This would be a lovely place for a midsummer celebration.We did enjoy the indoor wood stove a good bit. We appreciate that abundant fire wood is provided.Some advice: our cell service (Verizon) wasn't great at the house, so bring screen shots or print outs of the info you need to get in the house so you have it on hand for the few minutes between your arrival and the time that you are up and running on the wifi. Be sure to have a flashlight on hand if there is a chance that you will arrive after sunset - presumably everyone has a flashlight on their phone at this point, but I thought I would mention this just in case."

Devil's Lake State Park is 40 minutes East. Ernest Hupeden's Painted Forest is 15 minutes North. The 400 Bike Trail starts in Reedsburg, 15 minutes Northeast. We are in the core of the Driftless Area and the Annual Hill & Valley Exploration Tour: A celebration of rural living (HVETour) which occurs on the last two full weekends in September. The HVETour features local farms and businesses that direct sell to the public. Gays Mills apple orchards are just one hour west.
