We understand that in our globally connected world, travel plays an important part in our lives and that the current situation has most likely affected your travel decisions. But, normality will return, and on this there can be no doubt.
Meanwhile, Evelyn’s House family will remain vigilant in its practices and hygiene, following directives issued by our local authorities. The health, safety and well-being of our guests and staff is paramount.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, some typical and special/extra guidelines we follow when cleaning the spaces of the house between reservations are presented:
• Welcoming and cleaning staff use a 3D printing protective mask, gloves and a disposable waterproof robe.
• Air conditioning units, fabric (eg furniture upholstery, curtains, windows, etc) and hard surfaces are cleaned with a steam appliance. So, a steam cleaner is used to ensure maximum cleanliness and hygiene removing up the enveloped viruses, such as the coronavirus or influenza, and the common household bacteria from hard surfaces, such windows, etc.
• The outdoor hot tube is emptied and cleaned between rentals or every week (in case of long duration booking).
• Touch-free dispensers for hand sanitizer at the house main entrance and the garage.
• Good cleaning of the surfaces, which the guests often touch, such as knobs, toilet surfaces, etc.

Evelyn's House is a self catering apartment, which has been rated with 3 keys (approx 4 stars) by the Greek National Tourism Organization taking into account the facilities, location, standards and services. Available all year-round, whether for business or holiday, the guest can enjoy a superb and relaxing location at Evelyn's House just a short walk from the Kum Kapi beach, with several bars and seaside restaurants.
Our two-level maisonette provides luxurious and comfortable accommodation for families, couples travelling together and businessmen.

On the first floor, there is a dining area and a spacious living room with plenty of windows which flood the area with light. The luminous and airy living room is equipped with all the necessary amenities and comforts, such as a flat-screen satellite smart TV, and assures moments of total relaxation. Winter days, guests can relax in the elegantly decorated living room by the fireplace with coffee or a glass of wine. This self-catering accommodation, also, features a full-kitchen including a fridge, an electric ceramic hotplates cuisine, an oven, a dishwasher, a microwave oven, a toaster, a sandwich maker, French-press coffee maker, a kettle, a Nespresso coffee machine, tea-and-coffee amenities and all utensils necessary for dining in. The kitchen leads into a living room with a dining table and chairs for 8 people.
Moreover, on this floor next to the main house there is an independent fully-equipped guest room available with private facilities and amenities that guarantee a sense of autonomy and comfort (en suite bathroom, mini fridge, electric cuisine, etc).

SECOND FLOOR
Three modern, bright and air-conditioned bedrooms are recently fully-renovated to the highest standards and each is fitted with anatomic, anti-allergic latex mattresses and pillows, boasting en suite bathrooms in each one of them. The bathrooms are stocked with bathrobes, slippers, hair-dryers, towels and several luxury amenities. Specially, the master room is equipped with a hydro-massage column. All bedrooms have a balcony with mountain view and include flat-screen satellite TVs and free wireless internet access.
A separate area with a washing machine and dryer is available.

ROOFTOP
Evelyn's House private terrace enjoys an unobstructed view to the Chania bay, Sabionarra Rampart and the imposing White Mountains. The luxury maisonette features a rooftop indoor heated spa bathtub (Jacuzzi) for up to 5 persons with massage options. The stylish rooftop is the perfect spot for the visitor to enjoy the sunset over the Mediterranean Sea, the panoramic mountain and city views.
Guests can enjoy the best of indoor-outdoor living with folding glass walls. The folding glass wall system not only allows the jacuzzi space to give in all seasons a unique perception of roof top, but creates a new experience for our guests when the panels are wide open. In summer and the warm days, this operable glass wall system opens up the jacuzzi area to the outside beauty affording patrons the experience of its surroundings promoting views overlooking the bay of Chania. In winter and cold days, the closed jacuzzi area maintains the feeling of wide-open space that only a glass wall can provide, blurring the line between interior and exterior and creating a unique and memorable guest experience. The top-hung panels close to provide all the comfort and protection of fixed solid wall.
The furnished terrace on top offers sun loungers, sofas and other casual seating under an elegantly designed metal pergola suiting the surrounding environment. The pergola creates a shaded area saving you from sun heat.

When we arrived there was additional shopping as well as the welcome pack which was on the house. We received fresh eggs and home cooked Greek food during our stay! There are some excellent beaches, and archaeological attractions. With our local knowledge, we can provide you with details of off-the-beaten track places to visit, walks, and excursions.
As owners, we live here year-round and keep a number of animals, including cats, dogs, and a number of hens and 2 sheep!

Back to the house: The house (indoor space) itself is 50 square meters in size. French doors from the lounge and bedroom lead to a ground floor terrace of approximately 30 square meters. The roof terrace can be reached by an external stone staircase, offering a further 50 square meters of living space.

Lounge
The lounge is open-plan to the kitchen, linked by a traditional stone arch. Here, you will find comfortable seating in the form of a single French daybed, which can also be used to sleep an additional person during the summer months. A wood-burning stove provides warmth and cooking facilities during cooler months. French doors lead to the downstairs terrace and garden.

The kitchen is compact, but with all the essentials:

We know very well that an uncomfortable bed can spoil a great holiday. Therefore, we have opted for a king size (5 foot) bed with orthopedic mattress and fine luxurious French linen bedding - ensuring a comfortable night's sleep.

The wardrobe has both hanging space (with hangers) and shelves / drawers, with an additional chest of drawers providing extra space.

Bedding & Towels
Luxury bedding is provided to suit the climate at the time of your visit. This includes French linen bedding, silk / cotton duvet, and a selection of natural pillows. We give you a choice of soft to firm pillows, all from natural materials, as well as quilts, blankets, and throws for every season. You might find yourself lingering in bed just a bit longer than you had intended.

We provide luxury light-weight towels. If you prefer traditional towels, these can be provided.

In the bathroom:
The bathroom is beautifully finished to a very high standard. It is equipped with a drench shower and also a hand-held attachment, sink and toilet. We supply shampoo, shower gel, and hand-wash liquid, which you are welcome to use. A hair dryer is also provided.

Access to the house
The house is completely detached and separate from the main house, with its own private front door entrance and two sets of French doors leading to a private back garden. The house has its own dedicated parking space.

Garden & Terraces
The garden terrace (reached through the lounge or bedroom) has a dining space, an outdoor shower, a pergola and various olive trees, providing welcome shade. The garden area includes some new fruit trees, herbs, grasses and flowers, with a carpet of cool ground cover. A BBQ grill is available for outdoor cooking during spring and autumn.

A stone staircase leads to the roof terrace where you'll find a further pergola, a dining table and chairs, and also reclining chairs. With its spectacular panoramic views over the White Mountains, Kefalas village and Psiloritis in the East, it is popular with guests for yoga (2 mats are provided), sunbathing, stargazing, watching sunrise and sunset, romantic dinners, and generally lazing about.

Sunbeds are not provided; however, you may wish to use the very comfortable reclining chairs instead. The terraces are sufficiently private enough for sunbathing.

Ambient lighting ensures that you can also enjoy the outdoor space at night.

Heating, Air Conditioning & Hot Water:
Heating, when required, is provided by a wood-burning stove which has sufficient capacity to warm the entire house. Ceiling fans provide efficient ventilation during the summer months.
The house has its own independent hot water supply. In winter months, hot water is provided by a gas boiler, so you can always be assured of a steaming hot shower every day. We're off grid! Electricity is supplied by the autonomous photo-voltaic system, installed at the main house.

Insect Nets
All windows and doors are equipped with insect nets to ensure maximum fresh air and ventilation, without being troubled by mosquitoes and other insects. Some windows are also fitted with security bars, so they may be left open day and night, whether you are in or out.

Laundry
The house has its own washing machine. It is simple to operate. A washing line is available on the upstairs terrace. An electric iron and ironing board are available for use by guests. Coat hangers are provided in the wardrobe.

Safety
For your safety and our peace of mind, the house is equipped with a carbon monoxide and smoke detector. A fire extinguisher, fire blanket, and first aid kit are also supplied.

Children
Although the house is primarily aimed at couples, we can accommodate a child. A baby travel cot, bedding, booster seat, playpen, and toys can be made available, as well as child-friendly dinnerware.

The house is not really suitable for busy toddlers! The house does not conform to all the safety standards that you may wish for a young child. Please note that, should you bring a young child with you, you do so entirely at your own risk, and you must inform us at the time of booking. There is a small additional charge for a child

Check-in / Check-out
Check-in is normally from 3 pm and check-out by 11am. However, we are happy to accommodate deviations from these times within reason, should bookings permit.

Our villa is located in a very tranquil and relaxing environment which is typical of the Cretan rural landscape. It has been built with local stones and wood with special attention to detail. Based mainly in the traditional Cretan architectural style, it also offers modern facilities and comforts providing the best you can expect from a fully operational house.
It is totally children friendly as it is surrounded by a big gated open space.

Outside
There are many outdoor places where you can relax and enjoy the sun or the sweet summer breeze at nights, staring at the stars in the sky. We have catered for providing various seating areas all around the villa as well as 4 pergolas for shade (2 upstairs and 2 downstairs by the pool). The pool is available all year round and is maintained twice a week. 5 sunbeds and 2 umbrellas equip the area around it. There is also a bbq for an additional option of cooking meals and spending quality time together.

Inside
The interior of the house is very convenient and cosy. On the ground floor there is a kitchen, a living area, a twin bedroom , a bathroom and a small storage. In particular, the kitchen is fully equipped with a big fridge, cooker, built-in dishwasher, microwave oven, coffee maker, toaster and all the cooking utensils and cookware. In the living room there is an antique dining area, satellite TV and a fireplace which is operational during winter months. The bathroom downstairs has an enclosed shower and there is a washing machine in the wardrobe outside the bathroom. The bedroom on this floor has 2 standard sized single beds which can become a king sized bed upon request. A french door opens up to the pool area and allows tons of light to come in.
A wooden staircase leads to the upper floor where there is a master bedroom, a single bed bedroom and a bathroom. Both bedrooms have balconies where the view of the mountains and the trees takes your breath away.
The whole house has access to free unlimited wifi and hot water is always available. There is air-conditioning in all bedrooms.

Location
Apart from the house itself, the location is central enough to anything. The nearest beach, Ombrogialos, is a -5- minute drive away while other popular sandy beaches are from 10 to 20 minutes away.
The historical cities of Chania and Rethymno are less than an hour drive. Other villages with handy shops with local products are just 2 to 5 minutes away. You can also find some traditional tavernas in great proximity offering delicious Cretan dishes in reasonable prices.

Maybe I’m a bit old fashioned but I would have prefered to receive some kind of check in info before ariving. The ‘House in the Sun’ is a large well equipped 55sqm apartment with 180 degree views of the foothills of the white mountains.
Located on the edge the sleepy village of Paidohori, the house is 15 minutes from the lovely sandy beach resorts of Kalyves and 20 minutes from Almyrida.
The nearest mini market, pharmacy and taverna are in Agioi Pantes which is a very short drive - or a longer stroll away.

The apartment has a well equipped full sized kitchen, generous double bed and a large living area which has a single sofa bed and/or a travel cot for additional guests if required, and a separate modern shower room and toilet. The apartment has a TV, DVD and Wifi.

The solar-heated salt water swimming pool is shared with the property owners.

Heating in the winter and air conditioning in the summer are available if required.

The village of Paidohori is situated between Chania and Rethymno. Chania airport is approximately 45 minutes away, and Heraklion airport is under 2 hours. We are 2-3 minutes from the Agioi Pantes junction on the national road.
There is public transport from Chania and Rethymno to Agioi Pantes on the national road where there is a taxi rank, however we would recommend guests hire a car.

The price includes a welcome pack of some bakery products, a selection of 'in season' local fruit, milk, tea and coffee to make your first morning breakfast a relaxing experience,

Το Villa Georgioupolis Beach Haven βρίσκεται στον Ασπρολιανό, ανάμεσα στη Γεωργιούπολη και τον Κάβο.
Ο Κάβρος, η πλησιέστερη τουριστική πόλη, απέχει λιγότερο από 1,5χλμ Όπου μπορείτε να βρείτε καταστήματα, καφετέριες, μπαρ, ταβέρνες και σούπερ μάρκετ και πρόσβαση στην παραλία.
Η αμμώδης παραλία μήκους 9 χιλιομέτρων (6 μίλια) είναι το κύριο αξιοθέατο της περιοχής, με την παραλία Καλυβάκη στην άλλη πλευρά του ποταμού.

Η λίμνη Κουρνάς, που απέχει λιγότερο από 3χλμ Είναι επίσης μια δημοφιλής εκδρομή. Η μόνη λίμνη γλυκού νερού της Κρήτης έχει περίμετρο 3,5 χλμ και διάμετρο σχεδόν ενός χλμ. Μπορείτε να βρείτε ταβέρνες και εστιατόρια με θέα στη λίμνη και κάτω στη λίμνη υπάρχουν περισσότερα. Κατά τη διάρκεια της τουριστικής περιόδου υπάρχουν κουπιά, κανό και ξαπλώστρες για απόλαυση.
Η Αργυρούπολη είναι χωριό του Δήμου Λάππου, Ρεθύμνου, σε υψόμετρο 260μ. Ήταν παλαιότερα γνωστή ως Lappa. Το μεγαλύτερο μέρος του πόσιμου νερού στην περιοχή προέρχεται από εδώ και αξίζει μια επίσκεψη, με μικρούς καταρράκτες και πολλές ταβέρνες.
Λιγότερο από 20χλμ Περίπου 20 λεπτά με το αυτοκίνητο, είναι η πόλη του Ρεθύμνου, είναι μια παλιά βενετσιάνικη λιμενική πόλη με πολλή ιστορία, πολυάριθμες βυζαντινές εκκλησίες και μοναστήρια, μαγευτικά βενετσιάνικα μνημεία, η πιο καλά διατηρημένη αναγεννησιακή πόλη της Ελλάδας, με ατελείωτες παραλίες, σπηλιές, φαράγγια και μοναδική χλωρίδα και πανίδα.
Λιγότερο από 40 χλμ Περίπου 40 λεπτά με το αυτοκίνητο είναι η πόλη των Χανίων, αποτελεί ένα σταυροδρόμι πολιτισμών και ηπείρων με μακρά ιστορία, φυσική ομορφιά, μοναδική αρχιτεκτονική και πλούσια παράδοση. Το κύριο χαρακτηριστικό της πόλης είναι το βενετσιάνικο λιμάνι της παλιάς πόλης με τον αιγυπτιακό φάρο που έχει επιβιώσει για πολλούς αιώνες και προσελκύει το βλέμμα των κατοίκων και των επισκεπτών.
Υπάρχουν πολλές δραστηριότητες που πρέπει να κάνετε στην περιοχή. Μπορείτε να νοικιάσετε ένα ποδήλατο ή να περάσετε πεζοπορία και να ανακαλύψετε την ύπαιθρο ή να κάνετε ιππασία ή να νοικιάσετε κανό για να ανεβείτε στον ποταμό στη Γεωργιούπολη ή στη λίμνη του Κουρνά και στην παραλία μπορείτε να νοικιάσετε jetski, αλεξίπτωτο, αλεξίπτωτο ...

- "We, a family of ten, three generations ranging from age six to over seventy, spent two weeks at this beautiful villa. There are spectacular views of the mountains on one side and the sea from the rear of the property. Our host Mano met us on arrival and showed us around the spotlessly clean and very well-appointed villa, offering tips on where to visit and eat. The villa is two apartments joined via the entrance hallway providing ample areas for privacy if needed. Two large ground floor terraces, one wrapping around the side of the villa and three balconies in addition to the shaded area near the pool. The volleyball court and table tennis table were well used by all members of the family. Throughout the two weeks nothing was too much trouble helping us book minibuses and even providing a delicious homemade moussaka by his wife Maria – the best we had ever tasted. The villa is kept in excellent condition. Bed linen and fresh bath and pool towels were changed regularly during the two weeks. Toilet rolls, washing powder, dishwasher detergent and washing up liquid were all provided. The pool area is wonderful – out twin granddaughters aged six by end of week one managed a length without assistance and by the end of week two were more competent swimmers than their grandmother. We thank Mano again for providing such excellent service and his team for keeping everything perfect."

- "We have just returned from an AMAZING family holiday. Villa Posidonia was exactly as described in its listing and previous review speak the truth! It was so well presented inside and out. The villa itself is situated in a little place called Nopegia. Literally 30 seconds walk and you can visit two lovely tavernas, Ble and Porfina. We dined in both and enjoyed both but Ble was more relaxed and suited to us and the children. 35 seconds walk from the villa and you are on the beach! Sun beds are available. The beach is a mix of pebbles and sand. Once over the pebbles into the sea is it sandy. The sea was warm and pleasant to swim in. We spent most of our time relaxing by the villa pool. The outside area was just perfect for us. A 10 minute taxi ride takes you into Kissamos where there are supermarkets and restaurants. Each day a baker comes near to the villa so listen out for his car horn. He sells fresh bread and baked treats daily. We were also lucky enough to catch a fresh fruit van a couple of times too. This review is not complete without mentioning the owner, Ria. She was an AMAZING host. She greeted us at the villa when we arrived and prepared to have some food items like fruit, water and milk for us. Nothing was too much trouble for her. She was able to arrange our transfer to and from Chania airport (about 45 minutes). The driver who collected us gave us his company details and we were able to send WhatsApp messages if we needed taxis. Ria was simply marvellous."

- "We had a wonderful time! The house and property are located on a hill in western Crete within easy driving distance of many sites including Chania - we planned a lot of touring. We were able to hike the Imbros Gorge and beaches at Elafinisi and Balos (highly recommended!), among other outings. The house is essentially new, and has all the facilities we were looking for - we especially loved meals and enjoying drinks poolside! The lemon tree's fruits were a bonus!!! The sunset views are surprisingly spectacular, overlooking the hills and sea! The house is equipped with three bedrooms, including one double bed and two rooms with two single beds each - all rooms were comfortably air conditioned. Although we normally had to drive almost anywhere given our agenda, it was nice to walk a couple of times to Douliana for dinner: Heloistasi restaurant was a nice find! The only drawback are the roads to approach (wasn't really an issue for us), honestly a general issue in Crete off the main roads (!!): expect about 2km of challenging off-road driving to approach the house."

Our lovely villa is set on the hillside above Kambia village and provides the ideal location for a quiet relaxing holiday. It is set in an acre of ground including an olive grove, a newly planted orchard and beautiful gardens of flowering shrubs and trees, giving privacy. There is a private pool (8.5m x 4.5m), with large terraces and two pergolas. Open and covered terraces on all sides of the villa, offer sun or shade throughout the day. Inside, the bedrooms and bathroom are on the ground floor (cooler at night) whilst the open plan lounge, kitchen with dining area and second bathroom are on the first floor, taking full advantage of the stunning panoramic views over Souda Bay to the Akrotiri peninsula and over the valley of olive groves to the White mountains. Sunsets are dramatic from the large upstairs balcony. The villa has modern facilities with local Cretan touches, a newly fitted kitchen, is well equipped and offers very comfortable accommodation. Free wifi is provided at the villa and Yvonne, our local cleaner, visits weekly.

The villa is not on a complex, is situated on a very large plot and, as the property is surrounded with oleander trees, it is completely private. Entrance to the property is from a quiet road, through gates leading onto a large private drive providing access to the house. There is a fruit orchard which was planted five years ago to one side of the house with the swimming pool and gardens surrounding the other aspects of the villa.The villa has an attractive, mediterranean garden with stunning hybiscus trees and other specimen plants whilst our large olive grove stretches beyond the front garden area. Guests are welcome to pick fresh lemons, apricots, grapes, herbs and use the olive oil in the kitchen from our trees.
The villa is an 'upside down house' with bedrooms and a bathroom on the ground floor whilst the lounge, kitchen dining area and second bathroom are upstairs. This layout maximises the stunning views and offers guests cooler bedrooms at night, although fans are also provided together with A/C in all the bedrooms.

Private swimming pool:
The swimming pool is 8.5 x 4.5 metres shelving from 1.2 to 2 metres. It is surrounded by a large crazy paved area and has olive trees, palm trees, yuccas and other ornamental plants around it, making this a very attractive and private part of the property. In addition there are lovely views across our olive grove towards Souda Bay to the North West or the White Mountains to the South West of the villa. To the side of the pool area a large pergola provides a shady spot for reading or relaxing and there is another smaller pergola near the deeper end of the pool. In addition there are 8 sunbeds and small tables for guest’s use, plus an oudoor shower. Previous guests have commented on the sparkling water and cleanliness of the pool which is serviced twice a week.The ideal location of the villa has also been noted: quiet, private, yet only a few minutes from the seaside resorts of Almyrida, Kalives or Georgioupolis and within easy of Chania and Rethymnon. A car is recommended.

A choice ot terrace:
There is a very large partly covered upstairs terrace (with dining table and chairs) which runs across most of the front of the house, giving fantastic panoramic views across Souda Bay and to Akrotiri peninsular. This is a super area for reading or dining or simply enjoying a glass of wine whilst watching the amazing sun sets over the bay or star gazing at night upon your return from the taverna. There is a further open terrace to the rear of the house leading from the lounge (with breakfast table and chairs) overlooking the Drapanos mountain. From here you can watch the sun rise and then have breakfast whilst watching the sheep graze. Bedrooms 1 and 2 also have covered terraces so there is always a choice of sun or shade around the villa as you relax, read a book, listen to your I-pod or have a swim in the pool.

As of January 01, 2024, the Greek government introduced a new tax that is applied to all stays in short-term rental accommodation in Greece. The Climate Resilience Levy is a response to the devastating forest fires and floods that Greece has experienced in recent years, with the government hoping to generate extra funding that will go towards financing reconstruction, supporting victims, and increasing the country’s defences against future natural disasters.

The owners of all rental accommodation are legally obliged to collect the Climate Resilience Levy as a separate tax for all overnight stays (per villa) as follows:
€15 per night ( not per person) on stays between 01 March 2025 and 31 October 2025

The Vrbo system does not yet have a section for collecting the Climate Resilience Levy and we have, therefore, had to add it to the billing section as an extra fee which will show on the booking as a Property fee/ Host Fee (until Vrbo update their system).

Whilst we understand the potential budget concerns of our guests, this tax/levy is beyond our control and we encourage our guests to see this as a way of contributing to the protection of the planet and the beautiful area where they are holidaying.

- "This Villa is absolutely perfect. It was our 4th Crete visit and this villa is by far the best. The photos really dont do it justice. It is set in a secluded plot with a proper road to it (we have had some bad farm tracks previously).The views are unbeliveable from every window and balcony especially the front view over Souda bay where we sat watching the amazing sunsets and activities of the military warships, fighter jets and ferries. It was spotlessly clean and we really appreciated the store cupboard facilties, books and games and even netflix if you can tear yourself away from the view. The pool was kept sparkling by Ray and we had clean linens and towels delivered by Yvonne. It is well sitiuated for the local villages of Kalyves and Almyrda with supermarkets and petrol stations all nearby. Hania with its lovely old town is only 40 mins away and we had trips out to various ancient sites and monasteries. Kalyves beach is lovely and calm for swimming and only 10 mins away. You will need a car though as most things are down a steepish hill too much in the heat. The local tavernas in Plaka serve real Greek food but there is English if you want it.
