- "Excellent staff " - "Excellent staff " - "Nice clean room not very spacious but for the price you can't beat it " - "Nicely appointed room and very clean. Staff is very helpful and friendly. " - "Newly remodeled and very well kept property with a very friendly staff. " - "The young lady who checked us in on the night of March 15 was especially pleasant. She was very courteous and helpful. She went the "extra mile" to make sure we were checked in expeditiously and that we had everything that we needed. She should be commended! The only complaint that we had was that the beds were too firm. They seemed to be of good quality, just too stiff for our liking. "

Time to Relax! This home away from home right on the Tennessee River/ Pickwick Lake is the perfect place to do just that. Enjoy all the water has to offer from fishing and boating to simply watching wildlife and barges go by from the chairs on the pier or the wrap around deck. The 270' of water frontage will give the view of that beautiful sunrise along with space to pull your boat up on shore and swim. We have kayaks and life vests for guests to use with a signed waiver. Whether watching the family in the water on summer days, leaves drift down in the fall, the beautiful American White Pelicans in the winter, or new blooms in the spring, this gem has year round views with a tree house feel.
Inside, you'll be greeted with comfortable furnishings, live plants, wifi and everything else you could possibly need to make yourself right home. The living room has seating for 7 to watch the large flat screen tv or to gather around to play some of the games provided. The kitchen/dining has large windows that bring the outside in! The kitchen is stocked with all the gadgets you need to make a delicious meal to serve on the huge island. Seating for 4 at the table and 3 at the island. There are 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom on the main level all with crisp white linens. All bedrooms are equipped with Smart TV's. The staircase that goes under the huge island (bet you've never seen this) leads to a downstairs bunk room and another full bathroom. Both have doors that go right outside.
The upstairs wrap around deck has an area for grilling, large table that seats 6 and additional seating at the ledge. There are seasonal herbs available for guests to enjoy such as fresh basil, parsley, lavender, rosemary and mint. The other deck area is covered and has a wonderful lounging area with a sofa and two chairs (You'll be hoping for rain, just so you can sit out and listen to it on the metal roof:)) It also has a small table with chairs for morning coffee to watch the sunrise. Morning yoga your thing? A couple of mats are in the basket...
The front yard is perfect for watching sunsets! It has a large circle drive, a fire ring lined with chairs, a couple of hammocks, horseshoes, and a large parking pad. The pad would be the perfect place for a boat. It has electricity and water. There is a courtyard area by the front door for guests to enjoy corn hole, we have that too!
This is an old "Fish Camp" as the former owner called it. We have completely renovated it from bottom to top. We tried to stay true to the original character of the house while bringing all the modern amenities. We have even refinished some of the furniture that was left in the old camp. There are some old fishing lures that were found during the renovation displayed in a shadowbox. A lot of love has gone into this place. It is our vacation home as well as yours.
This is quiet neighborhood on a dead-end road out in the country. There are children that play right in the road. Doby, the neighbor's dog, will more than likely stop by. He is used to getting treats (bottom cabinet in the kitchen), he is very sweet and older. Please use caution while driving. There are a couple of bikes on the property, you are welcome to use them, just put them back in place when you are done with them.
The address is Cherokee, but it is an easy drive to the Shoals. There are gas stations, a grocery store, Dollar General, local pizza place, Subway, liquor store, pharmacy, and even a hardware store within 10 minutes' drive. Along the way to the Shoals, there are lots of attractions, Coon Dog Cemetery, Rattlesnake Saloon, Alabama Music Hall of Fame, etc. There are drawers full of brochures and info to choose from. There is a couple different options if you have a boat to put in the water. We do not have a boat launch on the property. Cane Creek boat ramp and Colbert County Natchez Trace boat ramp are about 10 minutes' drive. But we do have two trailers on the shore you can pull up on while you stay there, use at own risk. We take no responsibility for accidents or injuries incurred on our property. All guests should take caution in or near water. The current can get fast, and children should always be accompanied by an adult than knows how to swim well while in or near the water.
Parties are strictly prohibited, 8 guest MAX on the property at all times!
If you are looking for perfection, this is not the place for you. I do not iron sheets. Everything will be clean and in working order. If you are looking for a place to relax and take the simple beauty that lake life has to offer, this IS the place for you!
We hope that you decide to pick our place to become your place.
Jay and Melissa Black
- "The place was nice. No complaints." - "We had a great time here. Even though the water was not ideal for swimming or fishing we still had a great time just relaxing and taking in the views. This place is everything we could’ve hoped for and anything you may have forgotten to pack was already waiting for you. We have definitely decided we would like to return someday!" - "We had a wonderful time at the lake with a 2 year old, 10 year old and 3 adults + one golden doodle! The setting was delightful with lots of wildlife to watch! I will mention for other families that the water is not very swimmable due to vegetation in the water. I don’t know if it’s always that way but we were still able to kayak and splash on the shore. The home was cozy and welcoming!"

Welcome to our little bit of heaven on Bear Creek near Pickwick Dam on the Tennessee River! Whether you looking for a quiet spot to relax with a cup of coffee and watch the sunrise or days filled from sunrise to sunset with boating adventures, our beautiful lake house is ready for you!
In August 2021, we bought Bear Lake Place, and we have been lovingly updating it and getting it ready to share with you since then. You will love our fully stocked kitchen with comforts of home such as a Keurig, Nespresso, and air fryer. The adjoining breakfast room has comfortable seating for 6 as well as 6 bar stools to accommodate those wishing to sit at the granite bar instead. Our two beautiful living areas both boast full walls of windows overlooking the water and are perfect spots for curling up with a good book or binging on Netflix. Another favorite spot will be our screened porch, which is best for sharing a meal or rocking in our teak chairs while enjoying the cool evening breeze.
We currently have 3 main bedrooms and 2.5 baths. There is a master bedroom on the first floor with a king bed and a full en suite bath. Upstairs, you'll find one bedroom with two queen beds and another bedroom with a king. These two bedrooms share a full bath upstairs. Though not included in the "official" number of bedrooms, we do have another room (only accessed through the upstairs bathroom) with 4 twin beds. It is a perfect spot for kids! Downstairs, just off the kitchen, you'll find the half bath.
We do have a boat dock that can accommodate several boats for tie down. Eastport Marina is just a short boat or car ride away for those looking to rent a pontoon while visiting! If you do venture out on the water, you can fill up your gas tank at the Mill Creek Marina or your tummy with ice cream from their Bait shop! You may swim at your own risk off our dock. There is no public boat ramp from our neighborhood. The boat ramp is for owners only and is not allowed to be used by guests/renters. If you have a boat to launch, the closest public boat ramp is Mill Creek Marina.
Our home is located just 5 minutes outside the small Mississippi town of Iuka, where you will find conveniences such as a small Walmart, a Piggly Wiggly, and a wonderful locally owned grocery store, Brooks.
Our house can comfortably accommodate 8 adults. This home has been loved by one family since it was built, and it has not been rented before. If you are looking for a party house... this is not it. If you are looking for a quiet retreat for your family, we would love to have you. There is absolutely no smoking in the home, and there is parking for no more than four vehicles. The maximum number of adults is 8. You will be asked to leave with excessive noise or gross violations of occupancy rules.
- "We had such an amazing stay! We love everything about this property and hope to stay again next summer!" - "The home was exactly as described. The WiFi was fast, the process for check in/out was very smooth, the home was perfectly clean, and everything was functioning well! We stayed in another waterfront home last year that was close-by and it was not a good experience so to have this beautiful home this year was fantastic :) We want to rent again next year for sure! The owner was incredibly responsive!"

One guest used the couch but it was very comfortable. It was clean and spacious with a good bit of storage. We were able to park many cars in the lot along with our boat. - "We were looking for a quiet, peaceful retreat with amazing views within 3 hours from our home in Oxford Mississippi and this property exceeded on all points. We drove up the Natchez Trace, we stopped at Brook’s Grocery in Iuka (bought grab and go meals & snacks) as we did not want to cook and brought all beverages. Our stay was restful & relaxing, the land/light scaping provides lovely everchanging views that you can enjoy from anywhere in the house (the colorful flower garden on the top of the carport made us smile). We enjoyed birdwatching (cranes, Canadian geese, & pelicans) to name a few, listening to the waves lap onto the shore, cooling off in the river, and watching the boats & barges pass. There are several gathering spots as well as cozy private spaces to sit, sip, read, & meditate. While you’ll be in the middle of nature, there are all the comforts, including a big ice machine, a K-cup type coffee maker with a milk frother, wifi, a large fridge & freezer, and all the things you might need. The house was extremely clean (I appreciated the sparkling clean windows), the bed was comfortable, and we’ve now decided we need a heated floor in our bathroom too. The host was available to answer minor questions. As they said in the description, it’s probably best to have an 4WD/AWD for the gravel drive in as it is quite curvy and steep in areas. We rode into Florence one day, we did a nice 3-mile hike at Shoals Creek Preserve, and we shopped a bit downtown. A"

JUST RENOVATED (updated photos coming soon)!!! Ideal for small groups with all the space you need to eat, sleep and relax. Whether you are staying for a long weekend to fish or calling it your summer home, you won't be disappointed with the lake view. If you are looking for a convenient location to launch your boat, rent a boat or eat at Eastport Grill, this is a great place to stay. This cabin is very accessible, with bedrooms and bathroom located on one floor (there is just a few steps to get into the house).
- "Property was updated and extremely clean! The outside picture of the property does not reflect that is is RIGHT beside a boat repair shop and beating and banging could be heard throughout the morning once they were open for business. This would not keep us from booking again, but I feel like this should be conveyed to potential renters. Being on a lake property without a washer/dryer is tough so if a little stackable is possible, it would be very convenient. As a family with 3 girls, an over the door full length mirror would be a great addition. Overall, pleased with our stay and would recommend to others."

This wonderful home is tucked away in a private area 3 miles from Iuka Mississippi's downtown. Located at the end of a quite little neighborhood, you will be able to relax and reconnect with family as you have a cup of coffee in the morning on the deck, soak in the hot tub, cook smores by the fire pit or if you are playing arcade games or choose one of the board games stocked there for your enjoyment.
As you arrive you will feel the peace of the location... truly one of my favorite spots on earth. The yard is large enough to park a trailer if you plan on bringing a boat to take out over on Pickwick Lake while you are in the area.
Fiber Optic Internet is supplied, and streaming is a breeze on any one of the four TV's in the house. In the living room is a large screen tv, the game room also has a tv and the upstairs bedrooms with the king beds both have wall mounted tv's for you to kick back and relax if that is your thing. Enjoy any of the services by just logging into your choice of apps. We also keep our apps logged in and there are a bunch of free smart tv apps to watch and Roku has a live tv option that works if you are not familiar with streaming, we do not have cable tv here. I also have included a DVD player and a large selection of movies to choose from to enjoy.
In the game room, you'll find two arcade games that will include Pac man, centipede, mission control and more. If you are up for chess, you'll love the large chess table to give you a good view of the challenge you are in the midst of. I have also included a giant Jenga game and others to keep you connecting and having a great time with your family.
In the game room is a twin bed, linens provided as throughout the house.
The kitchen has it all from flatware to serving dishes, cooking pans and gadgets. 10 drip coffee maker, kitchen aid mixer, 4 slot toaster, crock pots, and plenty of utensils so you can cook up what you want. There is a charcoal grill and gas grill located outside, the propane gas is supplied, but we ask you bring your own charcoal.
In the kitchen above the stove are a selection of spices to use as you need to make your stay easier. There are cookbooks and just so much you really won't have to bring anything extra for the kitchen. Just grab what foods you want at anyone of our local stores and enjoy. Brooks Grocery is wonderful with a huge selection of fresh meats and ready to eat foods you can't go wrong there! There is also a Piggly Wiggly and a Walmart in town. Subway, Hometown pizza, Chinese, Mexican and the Rib Shack. No restaurants have delivery at this time to this home.
The King bedrooms have black out drapes to help those who want a little longer rest time and the beds are comfy. Linens are 100% cotton, no microfiber here to cause any issues for anyone.
In the area you can check out antique shops, the only Apron Museum in the USA, the courthouse museum and a variety of historical areas focused around the great Battle at Iuka during the civil war. A short drive to Pickwick Dam is worth getting in too, check out The Outpost and see the Mayberry's Barney's Police car! They have a great restaurant that you really should check out if you are looking for something unique.
I hope you choose to stay here and if you do you will find a very clean home, with all the basics you'll need. I'm available for any questions you have just send me a message and I'll get right back to you. Thank you for your interest in this county Nest in the Woods.
- "We had a mini vacation over Labor Day with some family members. The home was perfect in every way. Couldn’t think of anything that was not provided. Lenore was a terrific host and we will most certainly be coming back as soon as possible. "
