- "Rooms very clean " - "Great place for the dog. Plenty of room and friendly staff. " - "Small rural town but several good places to eat, staff recommended some. Chose this town on visit to see the famous mounds because of low crime rates compared to many other towns in the region, perhaps it is because Henderson town has a religious college. Room was quite clean, though maybe some chipped paint, a little carpet fraying, worn edges on some furniture. Heat pump worked perfect, with digital controls. Pictures of lobby and rooms are accurate. Pool was drained as it was not yet open for the season. Staff said it is a very popular attraction in the summer. Breakfast included hot items, eggs sausage and biscuits, and OJ and milk in jugs in a fridge rather than out of a electric dispenser. I like the jugs here better. Waffles are in the freezer and there's a toaster. There are some old bad reviews from a group many years ago who was here at a conference and left a ridiculously huge amount of cash in a room which then went missing. Obviously the person who did that faced justice. But more important, the owners went out and bought programmable safes for every room so that such a thing can not happen again. I recommend this place. The main negative was you can hear people in the room above walking around which woke me a few times. "

The Neighborhood

While a mere two miles outside the city limits, The Cottage lends itself to a bygone era—a time when life was slow and simple. In short, The Cottage allows our guests the opportunity to rest, relax, and participate in activities that they would otherwise never experience. At the farm, surrounded by hundreds of acres of agriculture and virgin woodland, our guests can learn about gardening, livestock, animal husbandry, crop harvesting, or any number of activities going on at the farm during their stay.

Horns and sirens, traffic and commerce are a rarity around here. Instead, guests will be bathed in the comfort sounds of the country—a donkey’s bray, a dog’s bark, a horse’s whinny, and, on occasion, our sheep’s graceful, signature baas.

Butterfly gardens, in full bloom most of the year, are just off the outdoor lounging area, so guests can expect a visit from the local hummingbirds (in season), graceful butterflies, and bumbling bees on the hunt for a load of pollen. Songbirds, deer, and turkey inhabit the woods and meadows all around. A good book and a cup of hot tea will round out a most enjoyable farm experience.

We are located right on the 199 hwy so there is a fair amount of traffic noise in the morning and evening,if you are from the city it will probably seem quiet but if you are used to quiet locations there is some traffic noise.

Actually going home from a vacation without a huge trash bag full of dirty stuff. If you love a little local place, the Amish store, less than 6 miles away (Ada's), I found to be quite a delight. Great place to grab all kinds of bulk food items/full deli case/home baked breads and we even got hot breakfast sandwiches there one morning. Overall, I would definitely stay here again if we were travelling in this area."

Upon entering, you'll find to the left a step up into an inviting 8' x 8' living room, featuring a cozy futon pull-out bed accompanied by two side tables. Next to the living area is a versatile dining area. The table, when folded in, comfortably seats two individuals, but when extended, it can accommodate up to four guests. Additionally, this space doubles as a convenient workstation, ideal for laptop use or other work-related activities.

Despite its modest size, the kitchen astonishes with its ample proportions. It features a practical flip-down counter at the end, providing extra dining space as needed. The kitchen is equipped with an impressive farmhouse sink and an abundance of cabinet storage. This tiny house is secluded on our small working farm. We have almost a mile of easy/moderate walking trails. We are about 15 minutes from town and Freed Hardeman University, about 30 minutes from Chickasaw State Park and Pinson Mounds. We are about 2 minutes from K & M shooting complex.

We have farm dogs that you will occasionally hear bark. Ziva, our Great Pyrenees may come and say hi but she is very friendly

We are located 15 minutes from the Tennessee River (any boaters out there?) and Kentucky Lake and Pickwick Dam are close by as well. Boat/trailer parking is available on site. For guests with pets, we have a small, medium, and large crate for your use if/when pet must stay in the cabin without you.
The space
There is a queen bedroom and a king bedroom as well as a single blowup mattress. Both bedrooms have TVs and the King bedroom has private access to the bathroom. The house itself is on 5 wooded acres with a small pond.
Guest access
The whole house is yours, complete with barbeque on the deck and firepit just beyond the steps of the deck. You will find grilling supplies in a cabinet on the deck
Other things to note
There are two other neighbors on the 5 acres and would appreciate keeping the noise down after 10 P.M.
