After a very long and hot Saturday on campus all day, it was such a relief to walk into this home. This is an older home that has been completely remodeled and updated while maintaining its original charm. It has hardwood floors throughout. It was incredibly clean and great care had been taken with attention to detail. There was MSU decor (not over the top) it was tastefully incorporated into the design. Even the square wooden drink coasters in the living room had a bull dog on each one. We did not walk to campus so I can't speak to the convenience there. But, this is a great home in a quiet neighborhood and an excellent retreat! My daughter loved feeding the chickens the next morning. They are in a coop so If you are not a fan - then you don't even have to interact with them. "

Awakening Spirit Retreat is a 3 Bedroom 2 Bath cabin that is located on 8 wooded acres that are yours to explore and hike during your stay. The cabin has a separate garage that has been closed in that is home to Awakening Spirit Massage Therapy and Hypnosis Monday through Friday. The entire cabin was originally used for the business until we closed off the garage so that we could live there during the construction of our home. Our new home is now complete and we wanted to share the simplicity and tranquility that we found while our family stayed in the cabin. The cabin has a covered front porch perfect for drinking your coffee and watching the wildlife as you wake up in the morning, an open back porch with plenty of seating, and a fire pit that is perfect for enjoying the sunset and a glass of wine. There is a game room in a separate building that has a dart board, pool table, and separate refrigerator. The cabin is equipped with a full kitchen that has most of the basic utensils you will need, and a charcoal grill on the back porch. It has a central heat and A/C unit, as well as a wood burning fireplace with wood provided. The main bedroom has a queen size bed and adjoins a full bathroom. The second bedroom has a full size bed, and the third bedroom has a queen size bed with a twin bunk above.

The Reading Nook is a study off the living room that is perfect for those times when you are looking for a quiet space to read, work, or make a phone call.

The Kitchen is large and equipped with essentials for cooking and hosting. The 'coffee corner' includes coffee, creamer, hot teas, and hot chocolate. Help yourself to any food you see.

About Starkville: Starkville is a lovely small town who is proud to be home to Mississippi State University. Our neighborhood, Oktibbeha Gardens, is one of the closest to campus. It is also extremely close and walkable to downtown (that is why we initially bought the home!). There are a variety of excellent restaurants nearby, including Southern BBQ, Soul Food, Thai Food, Indian Food, and locally-owned Starkville Favorites! We love to eat and are happy to make recommendations based on your preferences.

GETTING AROUND:
There is parking available at the cottage for 2 vehicles, 3 vehicles maximum. There is no on-street parking available.

The house is a short Uber/Lyft ride to MSU Campus, Cotton District, Downtown Starkville and Rick's Cafe.

Stark Kart will pick up and deliver to the house. You can find their services on FB and Insta. I'll be glad to send their information via private message.

The Cotton District, Downtown Starkville, and the new Campus Connector bike/walking path are walkable from this house. However, there is no side walk on Old West Point Road. I would advise caution in biking/walking from the house to HWY 182 due to traffic.

- "The house was perfect with a lot of small little extras that make you feel welcome. It was decorated and laid out beautifully and they added little details they you don’t always find in rentals. You had shampoo, conditioner, body wash, Q-tips, etc, a lot of the little things that you wouldn’t have to pack. There were waters and a few sodas in the frig, snacks left for you in the kitchen and coffee/tea. Just little extras that were really nice touches from a host. Communication with the host was great, too. We were only there one night, but if I were in the area again, I would definitely stay here again. The beds were comfy and the kitchen seemed to be well stocked. Everything was clean upon arrival and check-in/out was smooth. Overall a positive experience and a great property."

You want close, you got it! Walking from our condo Davis Wade Stadium, the Hump and Dudy is eight tenths or a mile; 1.1 mile to Nusz Park, and track/field. Less than 2 minutes to be on campus!. It is fully furnished with 2 bedrooms with ensuites, a king sofa bed with a half bath in the hallway, and free wifi perfect for a six-person stay. Our kitchen is stocked with all kitchen needs, a Keurig/coffee maker, and a refrigerator with an ice maker. There is a grill and outside seating. Two reserved parking spaces are available. Our back porch is a great place to start or day or end it.
