At the end of the road, you can climb the dunes and walk to Lake Michigan. We ask that our guests bring their own sheets and towels. We have a picnic table and fire pit in the yard. Our cabin is Air Conditioned, has 1 bedroom with a king bed, a loft with a 2 queen sized beds and the walk out basement has one King and one Queen sized bed and a Queen over full bunk bed. On the main floor, a Sectional couch that also pulls out for a bed. Kitchen is fully equipped. 1 Bathroom and 1 outdoor shower. Large fire pit and a gas grill. A sweet front porch and plenty of room to park dunes machines, stone accents on the walk out basement and foundation of the cabin are stunning . Picnic tables outdoors. All the furniture has the log cabin theme. You can be uptown in one mile and enjoy all the action. Bumper cars, go-karts, mini golf, dune rides boating, restaurants and more. The entrance of the Dunes is 2 miles away, Just go on the scenic road around Silver Lake. Enjoy Lake Michigan on the dunes or if you go the other way from the cabin you can get to Lake Michigan in a few miles where you can park and go for the day. Then you can relax in the quiet cabin at days end. We have built this ourselves and have taken extraordinary steps to make this a beautiful place to vacation. Our cottage is a great fit for a small family vacation! ( 5 max adults & 8 overnight guests )

Our Cottage is located in the Floradale Association. Literally steps away from the heated pool. So convenient for all, but especially if you have kids in your party. It’sYou also have access to the Club House, Ping Pong, Shuffleboard, Tether ball, Horse Shoes, Tennis and Basketball courts as well as 400ft of private association beachfront with swimming dock.

Our cottage has 2 bedrooms, 1 with a Queen bed, and 1 with 2 sets of bunk beds. Twin sleeper sofa, and sofa in Living Room space. There is 1 bath with shower. There is also a large well equipped kitchen and dinning room with large table that seats 8. The cottage also has a deck with dinning space. There is lawn furniture, an outdoor grill, and private fire pit. Plenty of parking! Large lot.

We have just finished renovating this cottage and it looks amazing! All painted light and bright with fun beachy décor. Air and heat! This cottage will not disappoint. Feel free to inquire about the renovation. We can also show you our other cottage in the same association if you are interested in a larger cottage or are traveling with a larger group.

We do rent by the week, Friday to Friday from mid June to Labor Day. Before and after those dates, we do rent for a 2-3 day minimum.

Just a few miles away is the state park dunes where you can ride through the sand or walk. Also, you can take a dune ride from Mac Woods or rent a buggy to tear up the dunes yourself. Welcome to our family cottage just east of the Silver Lake sand dunes in the charming village of Mears, Michigan. We are 6 minutes away from Silver Lake and its stunning sand dunes. Our cottage is a 1-bedroom, 1-bath layout with a spacious loft that comfortably accommodates four. We feel like this is an ideal choice for families seeking a fun getaway in a quiet place.

Situated on a double lot, our cottage offers ample parking space, making it convenient for guests to bring their dune vehicles and engage in outdoor activities like bonfires or even hang some of your hammocks on a couple of our trees.

Inside, you'll find a full size kitchen. With a full size refrigerator, an electric stove, microwave, ample, full size coffee maker, and toaster.

The cottage also includes a full size laundry room that is directly off the entrance. This is a major practical amenity when dealing with sandy adventures.

Although the cottage does not have air conditioning, we've provided fans for each room to ensure a comfortable stay. The cottage also offers internet access, a roku on site, and a television downstairs. Upstairs has a television as well.

Located near Route 31, our cottage provides easy access to the magnificent beaches of Lake Michigan, as well as nearby state parks and forests, inviting you to explore the natural wonders of the area.

You will only have 2-4 total vehicles parked on the property including trailers, campers, personal vehicles, dune vehicles, etc. And the vehicles will only be parked on agreed upon parking spots on the property.
If the firepit is used you will take all proper precautions to make sure the fire is out including using a bucket of water to put out the embers.
If you use the hose please make sure the hose is coiled back up on the concrete area and the water is off

Trash Guidelines:
Please make sure all garbage is contained in a garbage bag
Please make sure that all trash, food waste, etc. is put in an appropriate bag and then placed in the black garbage bin near the out-building.
Any cans can be taken to the BP gas station near rt. 31 for cash-in. If you would prefer you can leave a separate bag of cans next to the garbage can if you arrange with us.

The cleaning person did miss some spots that weren’t vacuumed but nothing to lower my satisfaction, also there was an empty bottle under the bunk bed that was not ours. Overall the place was great! The cozy interior of this 2-bedroom, 1-bath cottage provides a nostalgic cottage feel with modern comforts, including AC, heated floors, high speed Wifi and a smart TV. Five minutes over low dunes to the beach, the cottage also offers walkable access to top area attractions including the Little Point Sable lighthouse and Silver Lake State State park. Wineries, local produce and resort attractions are a short drive away.

Cozy main room features an open plan, wood-burning fireplace, panoramic lake views and heated floors. Prepare a home-cooked meal after a day at the beach in the fully equipped kitchen: double oven with convection, vent hood, dishwasher. Kitchen basics, dishes and flatware provided. Sunroom with heated floors opens fully onto the patio that offers a shaded picnic table. Fire pit in front of the house.

Guest Access
Keyless entry provides security and easy access to the property during your stay. Please enjoy the entire cottage and front yard; shed and ravine behind the property are off-limits.

Beach located across the road, 5-minute walk over two low dunes. Beach is low traffic and feels private, but is public land part of Huron-Manistee National Forest. Additional public beach opportunities a short walk away along the paved road: Little Point Sable State park (5 minute walk). Golden Township Beach (10 minute walk). Parking is available at both beaches but limited at peak times of the summer season.

Other Things to Note
Driveway is paved with gravel and steep. If there are more than 2 cars they must be parked behind one another.
Hot water heater (20 gallons) provides ample hot water for showers and dish washing. Long/many consecutive showers while using dishwasher may temporarily exceed capacity.
Cell service is very limited. The cottage has a cellphone signal booster but depending on your carrier, service may not be available. Activating Wifi calling and using the free provided Wifi network will keep you connected.
See the Light is surrounded by State/Federal land and in a beautiful natural setting. Keeping doors closed and putting food away promptly will minimize the appearance of the insects that are part of any outdoor environment.
For the security of the property, the cottage has a Nest hello doorbell.

Getting Around
Wide sandy beach in front of the cottage is a five-minute walk over two low dunes. Little Point Sable state park is a five-minute walk down the road and offers a paved path (almost) to the beach. Parking is available at the State Park but requires a fee during the summer months and can be limited at peak times. Golden Township Beach is a 10-minute walk down the road and offers free parking on a first come, first serve basis and is also limited at peak times. Parking for 3 cars available in the driveway, no street parking is allowed.

Groceries, gas, restaurants and activities are available during the summer season a 10-minute drive away to the Silver Lake area. During the Fall, Winter and early Spring, these amenities are located most closely in Hart, MI, a 20-minute drive.

The house has so many luxuries including heated floors, a heated toilet seat, and brand new top of the line appliances. The sun room was my absolute favorite spot for morning coffee with an incredible view of the lighthouse. The walk over the dunes to the beach is not overly hard where the beach feels very private. So much to do very nearby. We will be back."

Enjoy swimming, playing in the sand, water sports or fishing off the dock (beach and dock area are shared with one neighboring cottage that we also own). Dock your boat or use the four kayaks which are included in the rental to explore Upper Silver Lake. Create wonderful memories with family and friends at our private fire pit under the beautiful stars! We are located only 2 miles from the dune entrance and our driveway is large enough to accommodate your dune toys. We do own the property next door (property id # 993063) so if you are traveling with a large group, you can reserve both places if available. No tents or campers allowed. This is a quiet neighborhood, please be respectful of the close neighbors. Please be aware that this is pet-friendly and has beach sand surrounding it. You may find a stray dog hair or traces of sand even though this place is cleaned by a professional cleaning company and laundry is professionally cleaned. If that is unacceptable to you, please find another house to rent. This one isn't for you.
