Beautifully decorated and well appointed, you will find this cabin has everything you need for a relaxing stay. It's close enough to all the activities, shops and restaurants you want, but just far enough away for you to have the privacy you desire.

Old Hickory cabin sits on 4 wooded acres with a large deck in back that overlooks the woods (and hickory trees) and a small creek in the valley. You will feel like you're in a tree house with the views below. It's a great place to bird watch and spot the abundant wildlife.

Just inside the front door, to the left, you'll find the living room is one step up. It features a 2 story Brown County stone fireplace, cathedral ceilings, wide plank pine flooring with hand cut nails. You will immediately notice the french doors that open onto the deck. While you're relaxing inside, you will enjoy amenities such as Wi-Fi, a 43' flat screen smart TV, Roku with Hulu and Disney Plus, CD stereo and a couch that opens into a queen bed.

The entry, kitchen and bathroom are on the main level and have tiled floors. The entry has a large wonderful 'old hickory' style coat rack with a mirror.
The custom cabinets are unique and have tin inserts in the upper doors. The kitchen is well furnished with cooking and eating utensils. The full bathroom contains a tub/shower unit, single sink, toilet and plenty of storage.

The upstairs bedroom has great views too. A brand new (2022) memory foam mattress, 'old hickory' twig style headboard and handmade quilt add to the rustic charm of this cabin. You'll find the cabin is well thought out and the 1000 sq ft floor plan makes good use of the space. Old Hickory cabin is a wonderful relaxing place to get away from the real world, slow down and reconnect with yourself and loved ones. Be our guests!

Located in a private, wooded setting less than a mile from downtown Nashville, the Hideaway is a large, 1350 sq. ft. ground floor suite, with 3 queen beds that comfortably accommodates up to 4 guests. The suite has it's own private entrance, back yard deck, fire pit, covered parking spaces and large parking area.

The Hideaway's living room has a large 48" smart HD TV with a Blu-ray DVD player, Roku streaming box, and free WiFi access. There's a massage chair, plus both ends of the couch are recliners. Also, there's a beautiful gas log fireplace so you don't have to deal with the hassle of loading firewood. A pull-down Murphy bed containing a comfy, queen size Tempur-Pedic mattress is hidden in the wall. (Our returning guests often fight over who gets to sleep on the Tempur-Pedic!) Plus there are folding doors so you can close this room off from the rest of the apartment, allowing it to serve as a second bedroom.

The kitchen includes a stove, microwave, full-size refrigerator. And we provide a water purification system so you'll have plenty of fresh filtered water for drinking and for the coffee makers (coffee press, automatic drip coffee maker, and Keurig coffee maker.) There's also a large assortment of coffees, teas, and hot chocolate for your enjoyment. Plus we stock the Hideaway with breakfast snacks so you'll have something to go with your morning coffee. And if you're craving steaks or burgers, there's a gas grill just outside the back door (paper plates, bowls, cups, and cutlery provided). There's also a washer and dryer (detergent provided) if you need to do a load of laundry.

The large bedroom has two queen pillow-top beds with luxurious linens, an assortment of pillows, and a 48" smart HD TV and Roku streaming box. And the bathroom offers soaps, shampoo, conditioner, and plenty of soft towels for each guest.

Guests have the entire back of the property to themselves, which includes a large private yard with a deck, grill, table with chairs, fire pit (wood provided), and outdoor games, including corn hole. And we have a large parking lot, so we're trailer and mountain bike friendly.

One mile to the east is Brown County State Park, with its hiking and biking trails, lakes, picnic areas, swimming pools, and horseback riding. "eXplore Brown County" zip lines and the Salt Creek Golf Course are a quick drive from the house. Columbus and the Edinburgh Premium Outlets are only a 25 minute drive to the east. Lake Monroe and Bloomington (IU) are a short 30 minute drive to the west! There's lots close by to enjoy!

SELF CHECK-IN: We have a self check-in process (No contact with owners, unless you want to meet us.). Check-in is at 3 pm, but if the Hideaway was unoccupied the night before, you may be able to check in early. BUT CONTACT THE OWNER *FIRST* REGARDING AN EARLY CHECK-IN to make sure it's possible. Electronic door code will be sent via text on your arrival day.

SELF CHECK-OUT: Check-out is at 11 am. in order to provide adequate time to thoroughly clean and sanitize the Hideaway after each stay.

Maximum occupancy is 4 guests. Children are welcome, but parents are responsible for the conduct and safety of their children.

Ample pillows, towels, and linens are provided, however we do not provide daily housekeeping services or guest meals.

This cabin sits atop a hill at the end of an elevated driveway. Although 4-wheel drive isn’t needed, please downshift at the bottom of the driveway.

Climbing stairs is required to enter the property and access the second-level bedroom. Along with the queen-size and full-size beds in the upstairs bedroom, there is also a twin-size bed in the living room.

All fireplaces are seasonal and available for use from October 1st to April 1st. Effective July 1, 2025, the county has raised the innkeeper's tax from 5% to 8%.

When the Buffalo Nickel owners remodeled the property, they discovered old copies of the Indianapolis Star Newspaper used as insulation. The age of the newspapers prompted further research of the property, and they found that one of the earliest residents was a woman whose father settled in Brown County around the turn of the century. They discovered the woman's most prized possessions were two small nickels her father made upon first settling. The woman shared this story with her local paperboy, showing him the nickels to teach a lesson about hard work. Thus, the name Buffalo Nickel was adopted.

Buffalo Nickel is located on the north end of Nashville, giving visitors a view of downtown from the 300-square-foot deck with an overhanging black locust tree. The cabin comes with a full kitchen, breakfast bar, dining area, and hot tub. In the living room, guests will find a double sleeper sofa. The bathroom comes with a custom shower and access to the deck where guests will find the hot tub. The private bedroom also comes with a queen bed. Additionally, guests can relax in front of the two 32" televisions. Buffalo Nickel accommodates 2–4 people.

- "Very cute cottage with a lot of property behind and beside it with loads of trees and birds. We even saw deer two different times in back section! About a 10 minute scenic drive into quaint Nashville." - "This property was exactly as described and exactly what we needed for a few nights away. Close to Nashville but far enough out that we got the quiet and peace desired. The view of the tub, woods, and little bridge across the private section of creek is absolutely stunning in the morning light. The road is close but not too busy, and the porch swing is a nice place to have your morning tea or coffee as we did. Overall very clean and cozy location. My only reservations were in how little space to prep food there was - not everyone looks to cook big meals on a weekend getaway, but it was a big part of our plans! We made due but it would have been nice to have more realistic expectations of the kitchen workspace. The Hot Tub also had a slight bee problem - we tried to redirect them by putting out sugar water but they were just in love with the hot tub vapor. Thats a difficult issue to solve without harming the bees (which we'd never want to happen), so it's just something to take note of. Luckily the little cottage cools down quickly as the sub sets in the evenings thanks to the high ground on all sides, so the bees turned in long before we did. Overall we had MANY more "wow, thats nicer than expected"/from what we could tell from the photos type moments than the few little unexpected slight inconveniences. We knew within minutes of entering we want to stay here again some day, and would recommend the place in a heartbeat. The rental company was prompt and polite at every step and that was the cherry on top!"

- "We loved this property & would definitely come back. Maybe the cleanest, most organized house we’ve stayed in. The bed is comfortable (firm) And has a ton of DVDs you actually want to watch - perfect if you get a rainy day. They had full size shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. And lots of little amenities in case you forgot something. The location makes it easy to get around - straight down 135 and you’re in downtown Nashville in a few minutes. It’s very quiet. Densely wooded. And the house has lots of windows and natural light. It’s perfect for a couples long weekend get away. The host was extremely communicative and friendly and make the whole process simple and easy. Checked on us and made sure everything was ok. This is a carriage house so they’re on property - but honestly we never noticed. We were here in late June, so it was hot. The first night it was about 80, and with the trees & all the windows we actually had the AC off and were comfy. But the next night it was 90+ that day and the bedroom was hot. They do provide fans which were greatly appreciated. There is one wall AC unit in the living room - so understandable it’s hard to cool the bedroom. It wasn’t a problem for us - just be aware for summer visits. During the fall or cooler temps - this would outstanding with the windows open & a nice breeze."
