Whangaumu Bay has a wide white sandy beach which is safe to swim in and boats can launch at all tides.
Our family beach home is situated across a quiet no exit road looking over a public reserve and the water from the main lounge and living area upstairs. Upstairs also has 2 double bedrooms, a bathroom with a shower over the bath, and a large deck with the BBQ and large outdoor table. Also a smaller deck is a off the main lounge and the front bedroom. Both decks are totally secure for little ones.
Downstairs has another large lounge, with a mini kitchen - jug, toaster, sink and microwave. One of the three double bedrooms here also has a single bed in it. All beds are comfortable. All rooms open to outside. The downstairs bathroom only has a shower. 2 flat screen TVs show Sky. Wireless broadband password is available on site.
The large covered downstairs deck protects an outside lounge suite beside the hammock and overlooking the back yard.
The tree shaded, fully fenced section has an outdoor toilet and shower with another hot water outside shower over an outside bath. The latter is heaps of fun to clean off sand and get warm again after coming home from the beach (or to watch for comets and satellites among the stars after dark!)
The trampoline has a new safety cage (2020)
There is one large old caravan on site if someone wants to sleep outside the house.
We have a boat mooring in the Bay. Please enquire about availability and cost.
When other attractions call, coffee and more is only 5 mins away! Tutukaka has 4 restuarants, a few tourist shops and a store which also sells petrol. From the Marina go out on the 'Perfect Day' for a day's snorkel at the world famous dive ground of The Poor Knights.
Ngunguru Village has 3 more resturants, store, and the recreation centre with 9 holes golf course, tennis and bowls. You can walk to Ngunguru via the coast. Stunning views and pretty river beaches for swimming on the way.
Walks and other beaches both flat and surf are all along the Tutukaka Coast. Matapouri Bay, Whale Bay, Sandy Bay and Woolies Bay.
We enjoy letting our home esp. to extended families. Over Christmas we prefer 5 to 10 day bookings.

This luxury beach front house is Architect owned, it oozes charm with indoor out door flow. Open the bedroom french doors and fall asleep to the sound of lapping water across the moonlit bay. Most of the time a gentle lapping of the waves is all that can be heard.

Tui Cottage is sited in a rural and nature filled environment, elevated and private, with views to the ocean and the Poor Knights islands. It is totally self contained and recently renovated with a new kitchen and bathroom with polished concrete floors and macrocarpa ceiling throughout. The bed is a super king (can be split) and there is a sofa bed. There is room for a tent behind the cottage. Rain water (soft and pure) is collected and filtered with an alpine series NFS approved water filtration and ultraviolet water purification system.
The deck looks out to views of the Poor Knights and surrounding forest and native bush. Star gaze at night to the sound of the local kiwis. In the morning wake to the Tuis and Woodpidgeons. It has it's own private drive and place to fillet the fish. 5km to Matapouri or Tutukaka there are so many beaches to explore. Under Kiwi bach tradition the traveller provides their own linens ( Top Sheets required ) and the property should be left clean and tidy with all rubbish removed. However linen is available on request, at $25 per person.

Whangaumu 91 is a well equipped, modern, multi-story house with multiple indoor and outdoor living spaces. The house is on the hill immediately above the beach, set in native bush, and has stunning beach and sunset views, yet only a 3 minute walk to the beach. Wake up to the sounds of waves crashing on the beach below, and tuis in the trees outside.

The upper floor has the master bedroom (with king bed and ensuite bathroom), lounge, laundry and separate toilet, well equipped kitchen, and dining area. There is a balcony for sunbathing and views of the beach (dolphins and even orca can occasionally be seen in the bay below). There is also a large, private, paved terrace area with Weber gas BBQ, for outdoor dining and relaxing.

The middle floor has two more bedrooms (one bedroom has 1x queen bed, the other bedroom has 1x single bed (child access only) and 1x double bed in a bunk format (single on top, double is below), bathroom, and another lounge - so the kids can relax away from the parents. There is also a kitchenette with tea & coffee making supplies and a desk which can be used as a workspace for those having to catch up on emails while on holiday! The garage on the lower level has internal access to the house, and is where the kayaks, body boards and beach toys are found.

There are two televisions, one with Apple TV for guests to sign in to Netflix etc. The kids can watch DVDs or play games on the other TV.

Unlimited, high speed Starlink internet is provided free.

Two single-person kayaks are provided, along with 2 adult lifejackets and 2 children’s lifejackets. We also provide two bodyboards, and even “bucket and spade” toys for the little ones to play in the sand.

There is a garage for one car, plus off-street parking. The driveway is steep but easily managed. There is room enough to park a small trailer boat/jet ski if you are comfortable reversing a trailer on a hill. Boats and jet skis can be launched from Whangaumu Bay directly below the house.

We provide initial bed linen and towels, and don't apply a standard cleaning charge: so no hidden costs!

- The house sleeps a maximum of seven people (6 adults maximum)
- There are steps inside and out, so it unfortunately may not be suitable for anyone with limited mobility, and young children may need to be supervised.
- Well-behaved dogs may be acceptable but NOT on the furniture - please contact the hosts to agree PRIOR to booking. The house has a fenced terrace area where dogs can be safely left outside if necessary.

- "This home really has the WOW factor! Beyond the views and location, the home is a perfectly laid out with all the amenities you would need. There is a very short stroll to the beach where you can use the provided kayaks are just take a walk or swim. And drinks at night on the balcony while you watch the sunset is something you will not forget. Oh, and Shane & Eddie answer all your questions quickly and are welcoming hosts. We had 2 couples and our dog and we all loved it. Thank you, we will be back!"
