When I wanted to do our laundry, JL showed me the laundry room and how to operate the washer and the tumble drier. Motupipi sits on a private peninsula consisting of 20 hectares of native bush with beachfront access. Accommodation consists of a fully self-contained two bedroom cottage which has spectacular views from the deck, which is only 50 metres from the shoreline. The property includes a 1.2 kilometre bush walk which is fabulous for viewing native flora and birdlife. At night, sit on the deck and listen to the morepork and kiwi calling.

We are happy to baby sit (only dogs, not children!) if you would like to go out for the day sailing or fishing in the bay of Islands, and can't take the dog.

The property is on 2 1/2 acres and the River is on our property. No river views from the Cottage. All children must be accompanied by an adult when viewing the river. We really enjoyed our stay. Nice space for those with smaller kids as it’s all fenced off and has a cute pond nearby. Only thing I’d add is more dining chairs as there’s only 4 and we were a family of 6 so couldn’t really sit together and didn’t want to use the couches as they are white. This is more of a nice to have and not a criticism. Would highly recommend."

Guests have use of a reserve 200 metres away that is not available for public access from the shore. 9.5 Km from Kerikeri on a private road of 17 houses. Light interiors, coastal theme with tile floors (second bedroom carpet). Separate Cottage (sleeps up to five, 30 metres away. Has en-suite bathroom & kitchenette).
Property has mature Puriri, Pohutukawa, Olive and pepper tree (a member of the cashew family that produces pink peppercorns). Children are welcome provided you understand there is water very close to the house (not fenced) and the lush tropical grounds contain many volcanic rocks and plants with prickles/thorns. Therefore children are fine provided they are under continuous supervision outside. Also the Lanai has a 700mm (two foot) drop to the adjacent garden beds. An exit clean is included in the rental price but there is no daily cleaning.
Special conditions:
Property is OK for children aged 5+. Younger children must be supervised at all times outside as half the property is close to water with numerous access points andamp; is not fenced. Also the landscaping which is tropical has numerous spikes/thorney species/roses. The property is suitable for small weddings/anniversaries but as we are a quiet rural setting with neighbours 100 metres away on either side, outdoor noise must abate by 10pm.

- "My husband and I stayed in Kerikeri for three nights, two of which were accompanied by my cousins family of four. We made use of the main residence and cottage (which was great for the teenagers). I can’t say enough about this home - it is by far the best home we’ve ever stayed in. The views of the water are spectacular, and it’s incredible to have beach access so close to the residence. One of our most memorable experiences in New Zealand will be waking up to have breakfast with the neighboring sheep. Denis (the host) was gracious enough to provide a tour upon our arrival. He encouraged us to use the vegetable garden and all the amenities (dock, beach, speakers, etc). We used herbs and lettuce which tasted fabulous. Nothing in this home is done by accident - the quality is superior. The beds are firm, the decor is beautiful, and the bathrooms are very comfortable. We cooked every night and were impressed by the sharp knives, kitchen utensils, serving platters and accessories. I would highly recommend this home. My husband and I will absolutely be returning to this residence for a longer stay next time we are in New Zealand."

Even though we are in a rural setting, you will still find lots to see and do, with just minutes away from The Parrot Place, the famous historic Kerkeri Stone Store, cafes, restaurants, shops, supermarkets, beauticians, beautiful bushwalks, waterfalls, galleries and much more.

All is up to very good standards. All is very well kept up, clean and it's also decorated very nicely, e.g. using flowers, there are small pieces to decorate the walls, colors, materials, all is very well done while still keeping it simple. One cannot other than feeling at home very quickly. If you are into hiking or running, there are tracks not too far, e.g. to Stone House or up to Rainbow falls and beyond. - "I needed a getaway to grieve after losing my dog. Michelle was just absolutely amazing (she had even brought me some chocolates on arrival after finding out about my dog, so sweet!!), she was so lovely, warm, kind and welcoming. I had the best time here just relaxing and checking out the sites nearby. I felt home. The accommodation is so clean and tidy, the bed is super comfortable, and it has everything you need. 10/10 - I can't fault anything, the windows also had an insect screen. Which was so great as I'm not great with bugs or mosquitoes. I went further up North after my stay here and tried rebooking here again before heading back to Auckland but it was all booked out. That's how much I loved it. I would definitely stay here AGAIN in the future. Thank you Michelle for such a wonderful experience."

A cosy well-protected property down a cul-de-sac beside the sea in a quiet neighbourhood, Stonelea is a 2 storey wooden cottage nestled in a beautiful rock garden.
On the north side is a large covered (and shaded) outdoor living area with a Weber BBQ, great for entertaining.
The upstairs verandah is ideal for enjoying a tipple after a lovely day exploring. There's the Hauparua Inlet by kayak, or walking the country roads around here, or maybe you've been for a drive to one of the many attractions around the Bay of Islands...

On the east side is the perfect sunny morning spot for coffee and croissants.
There's a small well-appointed kitchen for foodies.
The dawn chorus is subtle and beautiful, without roosters! The bird life is always entertaining, with many tui, quail, blackbird and thrush.

We got there earlier than planned, and Ben was really accommodating, showed us around which was really helpful. Towels and linen provided which is great on holiday. Comfortable living spaces and beds, everything you need in the kitchen, and even the necessary electric bug zapper outside - a necessity. We never turned the TV on. Great little harbour beach a 5km hilly walk away (or 5 minutes in the car if you don't want to earn your swim) and concrete boat ramp only a couple of km around the road. Take care if you are towing a bigger boat (6m+), the turn in off the driveway is very tight.... you'll need some skills to back out again too. Nervous trailer backers be warned :-) Finally, the piece de resistance. On the final night we heard a male kiwi calling close by, and female responding. Awesome!"

There's also a flat space for kids to play while the family relaxes.

The Rangitane reserve is directly across the road, with a playground, tennis court, netball hoop, and picnic tables. Rackets, balls etc are provided.

The little beach at the reserve is perfect for kids to play.
A tandem kayak is available to use.
Plenty of games and books for the whole family, regardless of the weather.

The public boat ramp is just 200m down the road. It's suitable for trailer boats up to about 6m, from mid tide. Smaller boats can launch anytime except dead low. Deeper ramps are nearby at Doves Bay and Opito Bay.

Rangitane is a high kiwi population area, you'll likely hear the kiwi calling at night, occasionally you'll spot one roaming the grassy areas looking for food.

Could have easily stayed much longer. 10 minute walk to the marina , 10 minute walk to a nice beach. You will need a car if you rent here , as it’s a 15 minute car ride into town. Easy communication with hosts that were delightful to deal with. Breath taking sunrise and sunsets from the balconies on both sides of the property. Would rate this as 10 out 10.
