This sweet little modern log cabin is just 2 miles off of interstate I-35! 100 miles north of the Twin Cities and 50 miles south of Duluth. The is the perfect place to lose yourself for a week or weekend to find relaxation! Second Lake is a 44 acre private (no public access), serene, quiet lake with a spectacular view from anywhere on the lake. The cabin presents 2 bedrooms one with queen bed, one with full size bed. Full kitchen (no dishwasher) and full bath. Extras include free onsite washer and dryer, cable tv, and wireless internet! Enjoy a spacious camp fire area for those chilly, minnesota nights, and our outdoor hot tub for the even chillier ones! Lake is visible from cabin although there is no lake access or swimming area. Although at the cabin, there is a little trail that leads to a dock... the dock is not practical for use. To access the lake, you would have a short 4 minute walk down a pretty wooded driveway! There you would find paddle boat, canoe and row boat to use. We have four adult size life jackets available.
We cannot allow pets.
Complimentary Kettle River Pizza included with each stay!
Amenities –
Hot and cold running well water - the water in this location is naturally very high in iron. Even with the extensive water filtering systems installed in the cabin, the water can (not always) have a iron tinge to it and can (not always) have a sulfur odor. The refrigerator dispenses water (although slowly).
Heated cabin
Central air
Full kitchen (sorry, no dishwasher) Fridge has water and ice dispenser. This water does come out of the dispenser SLOW, but the water is very good!
Wi-fi
Full bathroom
Cable tv
Bedroom with queen size bed
Bedroom with full size bed
Futon in living room - not the most comfortable to sleep on!
Washer and dryer - we ask that when you leave, all bed linens (sheets and pillow cases) have been placed in the washer and the washing machine started. If there are two loads (it is a large washer), the second load needs to be in the washer and the washer started. This will eliminate our cleaning staff from handling soiled laundry. Thank you!
Hot tub - Please note, that there is always the chance that the hot tub may need to be serviced before or on rare occasions, during your stay. It can happen that, after inspecting the hot tub when guests check out, we need to empty it, clean it and then refill before the next guests can enjoy. It could happen that the water may not be up to temp by the time the next guest arrives later that day. This does not happen very often, but the possibility is there. Also, if there are several people staying at the cabin, or if the stay is more than two days, we may need to check the treatment levels during your stay. If so, we try to do it while you are away from the cabin so as to not disturb your time there. We do not need to enter the cabin to do this. Though these situations may be inconvenient to guests, it is necessary.
Lake - Although you can see the lake...please note that this property does not have direct access to the lake. You will need take a short walk down a wooded drive to access the water.

Please bag up all trash and place in trash container outside in fish cleaning house. 4. Please do not leave any food items behind. 5. Authentic MN cabin with great lake views! Best of both worlds - a wooded setting with beautiful lakeshore, private dock and great swimming. From the cabin you have an elevated panoramic view looking southwest over Sturgeon Lake with all day sun and evening sunsets. You will see and hear the loons - and bald eagles flying by and deer in the front yard is also a regular occurrence. Canoe, kayaks and paddle board are available to use at no cost. Guests are also welcome to bring their own boat - the boat landing is very close by. Wi-Fi and Netflix. Summer and holiday weekends require a 3 night minimum. 2 night minimum spring and fall. Ranch style cabin from the 70s, ceiling beams and original oak wood floors. Kitchen and dining area opens out into the large living room - all with views of the lake and trees that surround you. 2 bedrooms both have nice queen beds. The sleeping loft and bunkbeds are most suitable for kids or young adults. 1 bathroom with a tub and shower. Dining table has a leaf and extra chairs to seat 6. - "Our family really enjoyed our recent week at this Sturgeon Lake cabin. We had two pairs of marriage adults, and 3 18+ young adults -- two of them slept in the loft, and the other slept in the large "closet" (with bunk bed) off the kitchen. The cabin has a wonderful view of the lake. Decor is a typical wood-panel cabin, with a smallish kitchen area, but large living area with a sectional and several comfortable chairs. More interior lighting would be nice (an improvement that I suggested to the owner). There are about 40 steps to the lake, but we knew that when we made the reservation from the pictures. The top-most final set of ~ 10 steps doesn't have a railing currently, which could be an issue for older individuals that want something to hold on to, or to catch themselves if they lose their balance. Owner said he is hoping to add a railing to this section sometime this fall. No A/C, but fans available. We made considerable use of the provided canoes, kayaks, and stand-up-paddles. Lake is a good size for water activities -- we did a bunch of water skiing. Owners are very responsive -- they live next door, and brought over a couple kitchen items that we asked about, but they were never intrusive. One thing to be aware of is that the water heater is 50 G, but only regenerates at night ("off-peak meter"). So, if you have 5-6+ individuals, you need to conserve your use of hot water, or you'll run out. 4.5 stars due to the hot water issue, rounded up to 5 stars for this review."

2022 Newly constructed year-round cabin on beautiful Sturgeon Lake. Summer fun hanging out at the lake with Adirondack chairs and a fire pit at the lake (firewood included). Nice dock to swim from and canoes, kayaks and paddles boards available to use. Guests are also welcome to bring their own boat - the boat landing is very close by. Winter fun with a cozy gas fireplace in the cabin and access to the frozen lake for ice fishing and direct access to miles of snowmobile trails. Great fall colors. Wi-Fi and Netflix. Most reservations only require a 2 night minimum. Some summer and holiday weekends require a 3 night minimum. This cozy cabin includes an open concept room with the living space and kitchen. It also includes a gas fireplace and large windows to enjoy the trees and lake. There is also a deck off the cabin with outdoor seating, a patio table, and a gas grill. The cabin has a bedroom with a queen bed on the main level with an adjoining bathroom. The sleeping loft includes a second queen bed and a full bed. This cabin can comfortably sleep 5 adults or 4 adults and 2 kids. The living room has seating for 4 and the kitchen island has seating for 5. There is AC in the cabin and in-floor heat and a gas fireplace for winter. This unique setting has the cabin on the crest of the hill looking down at the trees and lake. A 300' walking trail through the woods and a 150' trail down the hill takes you to your private lakeshore and dock (see photos). It's about a three minute walk from the cabin to the dock. Also at the shore are canoes, kayaks and paddleboards for all guests to use - life jackets are also provided. There is space to park two vehicles at the cabin, but the property also has overflow parking for additional vehicles or trailers. $65 pet fee for ONE small/medium size dog that do NOT shed. - "Everything was clean and new. Location was great as it is tucked away into the woods. The private dock and firepit was very nice. We rented the pontoon for a day from the owner and it was easy to communicate and the pontoon was great! We would definitely stay here again." - "My wife and I stayed here for a weekend with our two teenage sons. We loved the property! It's a ways off the main road (you can't even see it from there) so it's very quiet. The cabin is cozy and comfortable. My boys stayed in the upper loft which was perfect size for them, and my wife and I stayed in the main level bedroom which has the bathroom attached. We spent some hours playing cards out on the deck while relaxing. The lake access and provided paddle boards and kayaks were a great benefit that we took full advantage of. We'd definitely come back again - either with the boys or just the two of us. Only heads-up we'd want to give future travelers is the lake access requires a short jaunt through the woods and then down a fairly steep hill to get to the dock. Not a big deal for us, but could be tough for folks who desire a bit more short/stable/level access to the lake"

It would be good to have max number of persons with an extra $100 per person over 5. The only thing not very clean was porch table and bath tub. AC was not working." - "This was a beautiful place to stay. The house was clean and everything you need. We rented the pontoon and enjoyed the lake for hours. Thank you." - "This place was perfect for our stay! We had a group of 10 friends and it worked great for everyone. It was a very comfortable cabin and we really enjoyed all the open space our group could spend together, both indoor and outdoor. It was very well stocked with everything we needed and the host was responsive when we had questions prior to our booking. Check in and out were easy as well. The dock and beach were enjoyed by all and having the golf course on lake was a perk as! We will definitely be coming back next year!"

- "This place has everything! It looks big in the pictures, but in person, the magnitude of the property hits you. It is full of areas to hang out, with a gazebo, multiple patio sets, an outdoor fire area with room for everyone and multimillion-dollar lake view. The garage entertainment area has a pool table, darts, bar, and a bathroom with urinal! A short walk from everything in town (including outstanding Moose Lake Brewing!), but also has a secluded feel like a private resort. It was perfect for my wife and I, along with a few couple friends, with private space for everyone. The owners were very kind quick to respond to questions about the property and local things to do. Highly recommended!"

Bring your clubs & poles as the cabin is nestled between Sand Lake & the Moose Lake Golf Course. It was built by my great grandfather in the 1920s. I am proud that the charm & exposed logs have been loved and well-maintained for nearly a century. Legend has it, that each of the field stones that make up the fireplace were numbered & moved from Duluth to Moose Lake.
Moose Lake is such a charming little town-- cute little coffee shops, a brewery, an old time movie theater, etc. The golf course is open to the public and does have club rentals as well; there is also a pontoon rental available at the Sand Lake Resort on the lake.
I've been in Moose Lake and the surrounding area my entire life, I'm happy to provide dining suggestions and to-do's!

The house was adorable and you could tell there was a lot of thought into all the small details. Very clean and everything seemed brand new from the kitchen appliances to the sheets and towels. Staci was quick to respond to all my messages and very accommodating to our requests. We will definitely stay here again! "

The whole group will be comfy in this spacious and unique spot in the pines. The overhead door is the only “garage” thing about it! There are plenty of activities in the area, or stay right on our nearly 15 acres of forested land to relax and walk or ride our trails through the trees. We’ve added a screen for the garage door opening. Now you can roll up the garage door to feel like you’re outside! Our year-round Gabin is not a fancy place, but is a very comfortable space, with nearly 15 acres of roaming area, trees and trails. Much of the interior of the cabin was constructed by our family with wood harvested right from our forest. The king bed is hand crafted from 6x6 timbers from trees that were also harvested from our property.
The second bedroom has a bit of a whimsical feel to it, with each wall having a different wood theme, all wood taken from our property and hand crafted to finish the space.
There is a third, unfinished bedroom, that we use as storage for now. We kindly ask that you keep that room off limits.
The bathroom is spacious and is also finished with our own timber, with the exception of a small unfinished utility area that the bathroom shares space with. The water is very “hard” in this geographic area, which can cause a slight rust color tint to the water and at times have a slight sulfur odor, but we have found the water softener does a great job treating that down to a minimum, even unnoticeable most of the time.
Most of the interior space is a large central room, shared in an open format between the living room, dining area and small kitchen space with a top freezer fridge, kitchen cabinet sink we built ourselves, complete with a hand-built concrete countertop, gas range and stove, and a cedar island flanked by bar stools on one side. Nearly one entire wall is an overhead door that can be raised to enjoy a warm summer morning or a cool, sunny fall afternoon with the football game playing in the background. There is a full length screen in place. It will not roll up, as it was damaged, but it works great down. The side zippers can be used to exit and enter.
We also have an RV spot on the property for rent. If you are interested in that, just let us know. It is an extra $50/night and has a 30 amp RV electrical outlet, a regular 110 outlet and a water spigot. We only offer it for rent to those renting the cabin, so there is no worry about having other visitors on the property with you. We just ask that the RV have a bathroom, as we don't want to risk too many people on our septic system at one time.
Most of your time will probably be spent outside roaming the property, riding your ATVs or snowmobiles on our trails, or sitting by a fire at the fire pit, grilling on the BBQ pit, or the propane grill, playing on the playground equipment, or at a nearby lake, state park, or riding the miles of biking, ATV and snowmobile trails nearby. Our spot is a great destination, or home base for a day trip to Duluth, or to Millle Lacs Lake, both about 45 minutes away. But when you do hang out inside the Gabin, you can enjoy comfortable leather furniture and a 60” HD TV, DIRECTV, and wireless Internet suitable for light surfing, social media and email, some streaming, but in our area there is no 'wired' internet service available, so internet is over-the-air cellular. Speeds and the data allowance of 150 gig don’t always hold up for heavy HD streaming for the entire month, but hey, you don't come here to watch TV right!.
There is a propane heating stove for the winter months and mobile window unit A/C for the summer. Here are the House Rules we ask your to follow: Note the all-caps are not meant to be rude but to emphasize based on past experience *** Please read the House Manual and understand how to operating the security system, and ask questions prior to arrival if you have any. Guests have set the alarm off by accident, which immediately alerts law enforcement to respond, which has also happened. The county is within their rights to charge for false alarms***If you set off the smoke alarm, the monitoring service will call in for a fire response, so please be ready to ANSWER THE PHONE LISTED AS YOUR CONTACT PHONE IMMEDIATELY, or the fire response can not be canceled, and again there could be a false alarm charge. If you close the bathroom door and turn on the bathroom wall heater, do not turn it on high or, as we’ve recently learned it can get above 95 degrees in there, which will set off a temperature monitoring alarm installed to warn of freezing or excessively high temps. Note that if using the retractable full garage door screen, the two side zippers MUST BE UNZIPPED BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO ROLL THE SCREEN UP. Failure to do this has resulted in damage to the screen in the past. *** Thank you for following our policy of No smoking/vaping of any kind or substance is allowed anywhere on/in the property. *** Dogs are welcome, but if your pup sheds at all please bring a sheet to cover our bedspread and other furnishings and a lint roller so as not to leave any dog hair behind***Please leave any slept-in beds unmade, so the house cleaner will know what bedding to wash *Please do not move the furniture around, but if you feel you need to, please put it back the way you found it when you arrived. *No firearms shooting or *hunting, please *keep fires small and in the fire pit, *no fireworks (you’re in a pine forest 😊). *Please keep out of the third bedroom, as it is currently unfinished. *the wood stove in the master bedroom does not have a stove pipe, and is for decorative purposes ONLY. The stove is also heavy, so if there are children in your party please do not let them play on or with it. *If you have kiddos in your party please keep them clear of the deer stand in the far SE Corner of the property. *Our place uses a septic sewer system, so please do not flush anything other than what is supposed to be in a toilet. There is a strainer in the kitchen sink as we do not have a garbage disposal, and please be conscious of not letting faucets or the shower run unnecessarily. *Please do your dishes and if you use the charcoal or propane grills please clean them after using, and put the grill cover back on the propane grill when done. Thank you and enjoy your stay!
