The aim and mission of the Windaway Estate is to celebrate the natural, native landscape of Mount Desert Island, and provide a YEAR ROUND peaceful, beautiful, and FUN spot for family vacations, romantic getaways, and special retreats. The Windaway Loft, part of the Windaway estate, is a perfect choice for a small family or up to 2 couples who want an oceanfront vacation in Bar Harbor, but prefer to stay just far enough away from the craziness of town. Available by itself or in conjuction with Windaway Summer House (vrbo #507910), Windaway Loft is a 2 story, apartment type dwelling. Once the attached garage of the Windaway summer house, it has very recently been lovingly renovated into a truly delightful, light filled, modern addition to the retreat like quality of the Windaway Estate. Hi Speed Wifi internet is included in the rental rate. There are 2 bedrooms, each with a brand new beds (one with a king, one with 2 twins), along with a bathroom with washer/dryer on the first floor. Linens and towels are new, high thread count and high quality. On the second floor, the open concept living/kitchen/dining area and large deck (with a grill and picnic table) offer exceptional views of the cranberry field and the ocean beyond. All appliances and furnishings are new, and tastefully coordinated. The seating is very comfortable and takes advantage of the views. Kitchenware is high quality (knives are sharp!) and is BPA and Teflon free. Enjoy having morning coffee and breakfast with the sun, and incredible sunsets and star gazing in the evening.
During the day, take a stroll on the shore to look for seashells or sea glass. Even better, bring your kayak (or rent one from National Park Canoe and Kayak Rental) and explore the peacefulness of Western Bay from just outside your door. Of particular interest is a small, working Oyster Farm just off the shore, which is owned and operated by the owner of Windaway. At night, take advantage of the oceanside fire pit area and absorb the Maine night sky complimented by the sounds of the ocean. We love and welcome pets but charge a $75 fee for extra cleaning. BOOKINGS ARE FRIDAY TO FRIDAY.

Enjoy the privacy and unconventional design of High Tower and its Pool House, a unique, castle-like residence with a three-story turret and heated pool. Architecturally inspired by historic European manors, this one-of-a-kind estate has two homes on three acres. High Tower has three bedrooms and bathrooms; kitchen, dining and living rooms with a fireplace; and a fourth-story rooftop deck atop the tower with mountain views. The Pool House has intricately hand-painted vaulted ceilings, a 12-foot dining table, two fireplaces, a woodstove, screened porch, and one bedroom and bath. The two houses share a private pool guarded by water-spouting gargoyles.

The design details in both properties are stunning. The original owner imported accent pieces from around the world and brought in artists to make this home truly exceptional. High Tower comfortably hosts six adults . The first-floor bedroom has a queen bed, the second-floor bedroom has a king bed, and the third-floor bedroom can be either a king or two twins. The Pool House hosts two adults with one queen bed. An inflatable mattress is available for kids or extra guests.

The private pool (heated to 75 degrees) is only open from Memorial Day through September.

This house is not designed with children mind; there is no fence around the pool, and there are no interior child gates or safety guards.

We don't allow any pets, no matter how small or sweet they may be!

Vista is the extraordinary new wing of Rockbilt Cottage perched high on the Lookout Point hillside overlooking Frenchmen's Bay with one of the most spectacular views in Bar Harbor.

Perched high on the Lookout Point hillside overlooking Frenchmen's Bay with views of Porcupine Islands, Schoodic Peninsula, the Atlantic Ocean and the village of Bar Harbor. The Rockbilt estate entrance is bordered by two large stone pillars on either side of the driveway. The meticulous gardens and landscaping include unique and historic features grand anchor from a sunken Swedish ship and gifted by King Gustaf to the great grandfather of the owner; enormous rocks, stone art work, and significant garden sculptures.

The morning sunrise and evening moonrise are breathtaking. This location brought the original aristocracy in 1880's to locate and build their mansions on these hills which was preferred for the heart-stopping views versus of the lower ocean frontage. There is much to explore on the estate and private enclave.

ROCKBILT VISTA is a newly constructed luxury wing of the main house. A private entrance to Vista is a covered western facing open porch with stone walls and Polo-Blue bold board and batten siding from wood harvested on the property. Take in the enchanting views into the forest with its moss-covered floor and grand mature and old growth trees.

The stone floor entry hall opens through an antique stained glass door. With every attention to detail, the living room has 10' ceilings covered in 24 inch planks milled from old growth pine on the property. A floor to ceiling stone fireplace, an elegant oversized chandeliers and stone floors with substantial furniture create the atmosphere of Bar Harbor taste and traditions. The black floor to ceiling fully equipped kitchen with professional gas stove and a seating island is a chef's dream. The kitchen is furnished with everyday dishware to elegant china as well as supplies from linens to cookware.

The Stately Hemingway Collection dining table seats 10 in high back leather and wood carved matching chairs. A baby grand piano, a game area, a leather couch and Persian rugs are stunning additions to the gathering space. Large windows with designer draperies, a half bath and two eight-foot-high French doors connect to the elegantly furnished 14x30 foot screen porch with another large granite fireplace and extraordinary views finish the first floor. Comfortable seating surround the fireplace, the dining area is comfortable anytime time of the day

The second floor with 9' ceilings has two bedrooms, two baths and more. The master bedroom includes an entry area with a walk-in closet and lovely chandelier, a spa bath, a bunk alcove, high end furnishings and art, a fireplace and an amazing terrace. The bedroom with its king size bed and sitting area has a fireplace and large windows and two glass doors that open to the very large outdoor patio. The stone wall and floor spa bathroom includes a walk-in shower with wall and rain shower heads and a two-person lighted fancy whirlpool. Marble top double vanity and private toilet room with stone floors and built in makeup table and sitting area offer a complete spa experience. The connected 14x30 foot terrace is set in the tree tops and accessed through glass doors from the bathroom or the bedroom. The terrace includes an outdoor shower and fully furnished sunning area, table and chairs for enjoying the most stunning and breathtaking views in all of Bar Harbor. Cable rails offer security and full vision to the views. 1000 count Egyptian cotton sheets and plush thick oversize towels, down comforters and designer covers and throw pillows are on all beds.

The second bedroom is furnished with a queen bed and French furniture and drapery and a stunning chandelier and a bath which includes a stone walk-in shower with rain heads and marble top vanity. Beautiful views of the ocean and the gardens from the windows.
