THE POOL AREA
Its large infinity sea water pool wiith its 18mx8m in size creates the feeling of being suspended upon the Mediterranean sea. Guarenteeing water temperature always in excess of 82º F (28ºC), the pool is HEATED with two powerful 24kw heat pumps in the months of March(second half), April, May, September, October and November(first half). The pool water, being directly pumped from the sea, is treated with the ozonator system that eliminates chlorine and other chemicals thus preserving the natural flavour of the mediterranean sea below. The result is having the sea below the Villa, delivered up to the house pool area, all for a stunning swimming experience from March 15th to November 15th.

POSITION
The property is entirely exposed to the south, located on the coastal stretch from CapoDorso to Maiori, facing directly Amalfi, Ravello and Conca De Marini. The sun rises to the east over a 12th century neighbouring Norman Tower, crosses the Med over the south , and sets over the bay of Amalfi to the west, with the result of illuminating all premises from sunrise to dusk.
Nearest sea, our own at the property sea bay. Nearest sandy beach is Cavallo Morto, at 500m, by water taxi. Nearest restaurants in Maiori at 5 minute car drive. Amalfi at 20m car drive, Ravello 25 minutes drive, Pomepei at 30 minutes ride.

THE HOUSE
Stepping into the house you will find the main sitting room from where you acces the fully equipped modern kitchen and to a panoramic terrace overlooking an authentic Norman tower, the mediterranean sea and a lush forest with an encrusted 11th century Byzantyne monastery in the background.
From the living room you also access 4 of the total 6 BEDROOMS , the shaded and furnished east terrace, and to the swimming pool path out on the west side. TWO (2) ADDITIONAL DETACHED BEDROOMS form part of the Villa : one with a queen size double bed with en-suite bathroom, which is part of the main house and has an indipendent access, and one with two single beds and separate bathroom two meters away from the main house. The Villa features air-conditioning in the main living room and in each bedroom.

THE EXCLUSIVE SEA ACCESS
From the house through a private path you have exclusive land access to the sea, where you can dive into the water through a sun bathing platform or one of the two natural grottos. To finish up the blissfull feeling of being in a true oasis there is a waterfall, with its sparkling mountain water cascading into the turquoise sea.

LA NAVE POINT
In the property, from the pool area there is a path that leads to the most panoramic spot of this part of thea Amalfi Coast. It is a headland 40 meters above sea level that protrutes into the heart of the Amalfi Bay. From there you can relax, meditate or just take photos with amazing backgrounds.

ACCESSIBILITY
The villa is reached from the main coastal road, by accessing via the property main gate. Just in front of the gate there is the SITA bus stop. After crossing the the property gate you would drive aprox 200 yards through the estate on a private road to reach the Villa's 5 car parking area. From there, it is just a 20 yard plain surface walk to the house entrance, no steps involved. . The pool area is at 30yards from the main house, and there are 15 steps to walk down or up to or from it.

Villa Saracena is a remarkable three-story historical villa which faces the sun and the sea. It sleeps 12 people. You will be roughly 4 km (2.5 miles) from Maiori, where you will find restaurants, shops, the beach and the tourist port. You will find the closest restaurant at 1 km (roughly 1100 yards) and the stop for the SITA bus Amalfi - Salerno line a few meters (feet) away. You will reach Villa Saracena from the parking area along a short private walkway that cuts through the garden and has no stairway steps.
You will not need a car to stay at Villa Saracena. If you do have one, you will be able to park it on the premises, free of charge inside the entrance gate.

Villa Saracena is situated on a rocky outcropping near a summit that overlooks the sea, and is surrounded by 30,000 square meters (325,000 square feet) of rocky land scattered with pine trees. Part of this land has been divided into different sized terraces. From each of the terraces you will enjoy a wonderful sea view and enchanting glimpses of the coast.

The main feature of the villa is an authentic circular tower built more than a thousand years ago, which was used to warn the local people when pirate ships were approaching. The tower was renovated at the beginning of the 1900s to create the villa, and other rooms were added later.

Now, there is a magnificent terrace at the top of the tower, linked to a smaller rounded terrace on top of a rocky ledge that juts out towards the sea. From up there you can see, in the distance, a stretch of the coast up to Amalfi and even as far as Capo di Conca dei Marini, which has a similar antique lookout tower. At closer range, you can see a promontory of white limestone covered in thick Mediterranean vegetation, with its steep cliffs overlooking the deep sea. Directly below you lies a little bay, where the shadows cast by the rocky sea bed cause the sea to change colour from deep blue to emerald green, and becoming white and transparent beside the shingled shore.

Behind the tower there is a green (though dry) mountainside covered with a very hardy type of pine tree that somehow manages to thrive with its roots well anchored into the cracks between the rocks. The only building visible is an ancient abbey dating back to the 14th century, which has a unique Moorish-Mediterranean style and is sheltered by a rocky outcropping. Even though the villa is near the road and not far from busy tourist centres, the only thing you can see is green vegetation, sky and sea—you are well concealed, with ample privacy. Whoever passes by will see only the main access to the house, which is a large gate with a long driveway ornamented with pots of flowers—who could imagine that up above there is a little paradise of a villa?

The land around the tower and the other buildings has been reshaped into large terraces located at different levels and linked to each other by stairs and paths. From all of these terraces you will be able to glimpse different parts of the local scenery which includes brightly-coloured flowers, palms, pergolas covered with bougainvillea, and lemon groves that also fill the air with their perfume.
Swimming Pool
The swimming pool is 3 meters (10 feet) large by 11 meters (36 feet) long. The area is equipped with a table, chairs, sun loungers and a swing. By the pool you will also find a bathroom which is equipped with a washbasin, a toilet and a shower. The swimming pool area is partly shaded by a pergola with a bamboo roof. From the swimming pool you will enjoy a wonderful view of the sea and of the coast of Amalfi. The pool is open from the beginning of May until the end of October.

You can walk down the central pedestrian street in town, on flat ground, a few blocks from the beach. Restaurants and shops line the pedestrian street, which is open to cars for a few hours in the morning and afternoon so you can get close with a car for packing. I paid for an extra parking space for my rented van, which was a locked garage a couple of blocks away, which allowed for an easy drive to Pompeii, Paestum, and other destinations. This home was originally designed to serve as several apartments, so there are two different kitchen areas, three different washing machines, and every room has its own air conditioning. Very comfortable. The owners are builders by trade, and it shows because the home is very well maintained. Their son owns a restaurant across the street, and you get the feeling that everyone knows everyone in the area, which is nice. We hired a small boat and captain from Samboat.com to pick us up at the harbor in Maoiri and take us to the Blue Grotto and harbor in Capri. There is also a public ferry that leaves from the harbor in Maoiri to go to Capri and the other towns along the Amalfi coast. We also brought along an inflatable kayak, and paddled 1 mile southeast to Pandora Cave and a cove. Awesome!!"

From the main road, it’s a 2km drive up a precarious gravel/ asphalt path. Then once the car is parked, it’s another 300 m walk to the house. We wouldn’t recommend this house if you’re not in good physical shape, or have young children. If you want to walk down to the beach from the house, there is a walking path that will take you there, which is about a 15 minute walk. It’s a mix of steps and pathway and not very difficult. The hot-tub was a welcome relief after a long day of sightseeing. If you do any cooking, keep food in the fridge and clean up, or else you will have small ants come visit the kitchen. The house doesn’t have A/C, but our host did provide us oscillating fans, which helped. Thank you Giuseppe for a memorable, lovely stay!"
