CASA LEANA is over 350 years old and brimming with gorgeous original features, from chunky beamed, wood ceilings and exposed stone walls to the traditional tiled kitchen. To soak up the Tuscany sunshine and gaze on the iconic scenery, the terraced garden at Casa Leana is sheer bliss. On the first terrace children can play on a lawn area while parents watch on from the paved dining patio with a pergola for shade, then on the second terrace there’s a small olive grove and a romantic bench for two, to admire the views in the shade of a gnarly oak.

ACCOMMODATION OVERVIEW

Casa Leana was built way back in 1650 as a big rambling farmhouse, set out over three floors, with the main entrance up an external stone staircase to the first floor, which is the traditional way in Tuscany. Today the villa provides plenty of space for 10+ family and friends, plus two babies, with 5 bedrooms, 3 lounges, 3 bath/shower-rooms, a huge dining kitchen, a play room and games room. All 5 bedrooms have space for a cot and two travel cots are available.

The lower floor comprises the games room, library ‘snug’, wine cellar and one of the bedrooms. The large games room, with a beamed ceiling and funky pop artwork on the stone walls, has table tennis, table football, a pool table and a PS2 console with games. The cosy library has over 350 books on the shelves, a leather corner sofa to curl up in and a writing desk to set up a laptop and log into the Wi Fi.

The double bedroom, with a wrought iron bed, has an ensuite shower with a washbasin and WC. The vaulted wine cellar has a superb selection of wines from Tuscany and around the world that are available for guests to buy.

The first floor comprises the large kitchen dining room, a separate breakfast room, a king-size bedroom and the a family bathroom.

With home-cooking so central to Tuscany family life, the traditional farmhouse kitchen is the heart of the house, with a big open fireplace, a magnificent dining table for 10 (plus 2 high chairs are available) and beautiful tiled work surfaces. A large fridge freezer, drinks fridge and a microwave is in the separate pantry and a utility room has a washing machine, dishwasher, iron and ironing board plus hairdryer, torch and first aid kit. The kitchen opens onto a pretty, covered patio with a dining table that seats 10 and a barbecue.

A breakfast room doubles as a small lounge with a bistro table that seats 4, a chaise longue, log fire, chess and other board games. The bedroom on the first floor has a king-size wrought iron four poster bed and a balcony with seating for 6 and there is also a shower room with a washbasin, bidet and WC.

The top floor of Casa Leana comprises the main lounge, three bedrooms and the family bathroom. The lounge is very large and comfortable, with a big, squashy L-shaped sofa, a single sofa bed, coffee table, flat screen TV with Sky+ and Sky Sports, a DVD player with 600 DVD’s to choose from and Wi Fi. Two of the bedrooms have king size wrought iron beds and one of these has an additional single bed. The other bedroom has twin single wrought iron beds. The family bathroom has a bath, shower, washbasin, bidet and WC.

- "We had the holiday of a lifetime at the beautiful Casa Leana. The setting is typically Tuscan and the property itself is amazing. It was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. Anghiari is the nearest town (10 min drive) and is unbelievably beautiful . It has restaurants,shops and an evening market on a Wednesday with live bands playing. Di & Leigh were fabulous hosts. They were on hand to offer valuable advice on everything from where to eat to the best places to shop ( including the best markets to visit). A beautiful breakfast hamper is provided for your first morning, but even better they can arrange do a small shop for you which we took full advantage of. Di selected lots of local delicacies including cheeses, hams, local bread & chutneys which allowed us to spend our first day at the villa without having to venture too far. "Le Burgne" is a late 19th century farmhouse on the hills on the border between Umbria and Tuscany. Overlooking the Upper Tiber Valley, it dominates the entire valley: from Citta 'di Castello to Monte S. Maria Tiberina, from Anghiari to Citerna.
The farmhouse can accommodate up to 24 people in 5 quadruple bedrooms plus 2 doubles and, thanks to the large spaces, it is perfect for group holidays, special events and even weddings.

The space
“Le Burgne” is an historical farmhouse with private pool from the 800’s located on the Umbrian hillside on the border between Umbria and Tuscany. Le Burgne has been turned into an agriturismo (holiday farm), with the big difference that here you can rent the whole 400 m2 house and its dependance to enjoy your country holiday in total comfort and privacy.

The building has been renovated, while maintaining intact the charm of an estate house: the external architectural structure has remained unchanged, as has the interior, characterized by stone walls, wooden beams and original floors. The entrance, entirely made in stone, features an old wood-burning oven (still functioning), a symbol of a now lost countryside culture. On the ground floor there is a large hall that originally was used as stables, with two brick arches and a stone and terracotta fireplace. Also on the ground floor there are the kitchen, the reception, the bar, and the two service bathrooms (one of which is wheelchair accessible).
The first floor features five spacious double bedrooms with very large bathrooms, and the possibility to add extra guests on either double sofa beds or bunk beds, and a reading corner.

The detached annex features instead 2 double bedrooms, one bathroom with shower and a kitchen with dining room.

The nicely shaped ecological pool is perfect for swimming and provides views over the Umbrian hills you will never forget.

While our guests will enjoy total privacy, the owner and her staff can help them out with anything from organizing cooking classes or catered dinners to bringing fresh vegetables from their vegetable garden.
Guest access
One side of Le Burgne's garden consists of pine trees where a small sitting area has been constructed, providing a welcoming cool area in summer. The other side has the ecological pool and the best views one could wish for. Quiet green woody hills interlaced with the odd field. In one corner you can see Città di Castello. The property is still in Umbria, but literally borders Tuscany.
Children can play at Le Burgne until they drop. Apart from the pool (with whirlpool in one corner), Le Burgne has a volleyball field, bocce, soccer field and a few games for younger children.
The ecological pool has wonderful views over the Upper Tiber Valley (Alta Valle del Tevere) and ample terraces. There is a lot of garden furniture and umbrellas. Moreover, the pool area has two toilets and both an inside and outside warm water shower. Lastly there is a small bar with big fridge where one can keep drinks and some snacks.

The three-storey villa stands on sloping ground, thus allowing outside access from both the ground floor and from the basement at the back of the structure. The main entrance on the ground floor leads into a spacious fully-equipped kitchen with dining area and large antique fireplace. From here a short hallway leads to an elegant dining room and to a double bedroom with divisible bed and additional single bed. Along the staircase leading up to the first floor and down to the basement are two intermediate levels: a single bedroom (accessible up a few steps), a study/games room (with double sofa bed) and a guest bathroom. The sleeping area is completed on the first floor with two double bedrooms, each with a balcony, and served by a bathroom with whirlpool shower. Also on the first floor are two panoramic terraces, of which one is furnished with armchairs and coffee table. The 4000 sq m park and garden, for the exclusive use of guests, surrounding the villa are completely enclosed by fencing and dry-stone walls. The garden, with its rich vegetation of herbs, lavender bushes, climbing jasmine and olive trees, embellished by a spectacular fountain, has large areas of manicured lawn ideal for children's play. At the back of the house, on the basement level (the same level with the living room with living area and games area and kitchen annex), are the outdoor areas near the swimming pool: a lounge for relaxation and a dining area with barbecue protected by a large umbrella. The parking area is just outside the property in a secluded spot in front of the pedestrian gate entrance.Please notice that photos are taken in spring, therefore flower blossoming, and the colours of the gardens' grass could be different at the moment of your arrival at the villa.
Swimming Pool:
The pool, completely enclosed with an access gate, stands in a panoramic position at the back of the villa, which is a few metres away, on the same level as the basement with the outdoor dining area. Rectangular-shaped and measuring 6 x 10 m with a constant depth of 1.55 m, it has a stone border and is lined in light-coloured PVC. It has a metal ladder for access to the water, internal lighting and chlorine purification. The area around it, in teak and stone, is provided with sunbeds, umbrellas and a comvenient cold-water shower. The pool is open from the last Saturday in April to the first Saturday of October.
