- "We stayed in Villa Berici for a week in August with 7 people. Villa Berici is a big house with enough space for everyone. The beds are a bit hard but ok in most rooms. In one room the bed was definitely worn, you could feel the springs through the matras when lying down. The kitchen is big and has all tools necessary. The garden has a lot of nice places to sit. There is a nice lounge set in which to chill, a good dining table with enough chairs and 6 lounge beds to laze by the pool. The pool is small, but nice to cool down in. Unfortunately we had a storm during our stay, after which the water was left green and unswimmable so we couldn’t use it the rest of the week. The biggest asset of the house is the amazing view at the beautiful landscape surrounding the house. Contact with the owner was perfect: she always responded very quickly to our questions."

Villa “Il Giardino di Sibilla”, a rustic building dating back to 1500, can be reached by driving from Vicenza for about 20 minutes to Castelgomberto, a village located in the famous hills of Vicenza, along a green country road and going up to the ancient Contrà Fortuna.



In the Villa you can enjoy a tastefully furnished environment with carefully renovated pieces of furniture to be perfectly in line with the style of the cottage. You can enjoy a panoramic view of the woods of the valley below.

The farmhouse, about 800 square meters, is the perfect place for large families or groups of friends, looking for a relaxing holiday in company.



OUTDOOR AREAS

Upon your arrival at IL Giardino di Sibilla, you will be amazed by the facade in stones.

The covered patio will be the area for dinners or lunches together using the two large tables and preparing grills on the large wood and charcoal barbeque.

The swimming pool overlooking the green of the valley is open throughout the period of availability of the villa and is equipped with sun beds and large umbrellas. It is not heated.



LA VILLA

Il Giardino di Sibilla was completely renovated a few years ago and is divided into 3 floors built at different times.



GROUND FLOOR

The ground floor consists of a large kitchen with a cellar, a double bedroom and two bathrooms with showers.

Upon entering the villa you will be welcomed by the modern steel kitchen with an induction hob, large refrigerator, oven, two dishwashers and all the necessary accessories to prepare lunches and dinners for all guests.

Near the kitchen, there is also a full bathroom with a shower.

In the back of the kitchen, you will enter the stone cellar, the ancient and original heart of the villa with a large room with a not usable fireplace.

Entering from a second entrance you will find a double bedroom, overlooking the outdoor area, and a bathroom with a shower. This room has a safe.



FLOOR 1

The first floor consists of 4 double bedrooms, a twin bedroom, 3 bathrooms with shower, a kitchen and a dining room.

On the first floor, you will find a second kitchen complete with stove, refrigerator and accessories. A dining room with a large table will welcome you in case you do not want to dine or have lunch outdoors.

To the right of the kitchen, you will find 2 bedrooms with double beds and a large bathroom with a shower and a master bedroom with an ensuite bathroom with a walking-in shower.

To the left of the kitchen, you will find 1 double bedroom and a bedroom with two single beds and a bathroom with a large shower.



FLOOR 2

Floor 2 consists of a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, a bathroom with a bathtub and a large room with a billiard and a living area.

Wifi is available throughout the house and the villa has a washing machine for guests



THE AREA

Castelgomberto is located near Vicenza and offers the possibility to visit an area rich in history and good food.

Villa Il Giardino di Sibilla is a convenient base for visiting many surrounding points of interest; it is located just 60 km from Verona, 30 km from Padua, 60 km from Venice, 25 km from Bassano del Grappa and 40 km from Asolo.

The many Venetian Villas - Ville Venete - can be visited to learn about the history and habits of the rich and ancient Venetian Republic.

Lake Garda is about 90 km and It is also possible to visit the Dolomites, Carega and Pasubio, as well as the hills of Asiago.

Relax at our gorgeous 7 bedroom villa on the hill above Vicenza, within easy reach of Venice. There is plenty to see and do in the local area: your immediate neighbour is the famous Villa Valmarana whose internal walls are adorned with the magnificent Tiepolo frescoes, and all around are some of the most important Villas in the world.
Vicenza itself is a treasure trove of art and architecture, first of all the buildings of Andrea Palladio the renowned Renaissance architect.

You will be able to get to Venice very easily but may find it difficult to pries yourself from this wonderful place. Situated in the vicinity of the Villa La Rotonda of Palladio, Villa San Bastiano overlooks the 'Valley of Silence' that inspired the famous Italian writer Antonio Fogazzaro who made 'San Bastiano' his home.

Painters such as Giorgione, and Gianbattista and Giandomenico Tiepolo whose masterpiece frescoes adorn the "Villa Valmarana ai Nani" literally next door, also drew inspiration from the beauty of the area.

The Villa was bombed during World War II and was re-built by the descendants of the Fogazzaro family who still own the property. It is now a most charming home and has been a favourite destination for many distinguished guests throughout its life.

On the outside there is a beautiful terrace facing the Valletta del Silenzio, where one can enjoy the golden aura of the Venetian sunsets amidst ancient cypresses, cedars, pines and the most beautifully scented osmanthus bushes, and roses, geraniums, lilies which fill the well tended garden with colour: you will feel rested in this peaceful oasis of relaxation.

Many of our previous family guests have been enchanted by the house, its gardens and the sense of peace found here. They famously include the painter Salvador Dalí, actors Jack Palance and Albert Finney, Cecil Beaton, Dame Margot Fonteyn, Carla Fracci, the Maharaja of Kapurtala, Victor Gauntlett co-owner of Aston Martin with Prince Michael of Kent, who stayed overnight during the 1987 re-edition of the 'Mille Miglia' car race. They all enjoyed sitting on the terrace in front of the house sipping cocktails and basking in the golden light of a Venetian sunset.

The swimming pool next to the house overlooks the Villa Valmarana and one is constantly reminded, even during the most informal leisure activities, of the history, art and culture of the surrounding area. There is a changing room with fridge, shower and lounge chairs for soaking the summer sunshine.

The gate to the property is remotely activated and security cameras abound within the garden and the perimeter of the villa.

As a self-catering villa, you'll find everything you need for a perfect stay.

The kitchen has a fridge, a large hob and oven, a kettle, a freezer and a microwave.

The villa is a perfect place to relax and offers a television, internet access, air conditioning in most rooms and communal areas, gorgeous garden and the views are mesmerizing.

At Villa San Bastiano we apply the most stringent safety measures, aimed at making the property totally Covid free so that you can make sure your holiday will be rewarding and safe.

Our second stay and definitely will not be our last. Set in beautiful grounds, the villa is a touch of class. Spacious, immaculately clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated.
Anna our local host made us feel most welcome. The arrival grocery shop complete with local wine together with the catering and housekeeping services and local restaurant recommendations made our stay perfect.
Not sure about writing a view as I want to keep this as our best kept secret.

I've stayed in my fair share of short term luxury rentals. It's difficult to say which is *the best*, but Villa Ai Colli Berici is definitely a contender. The entire experience is a 10/10. Anna, the local liaison couldn't do enough. The premises, pool, and garden are maintained to perfection. (Cleaning lady, pool man, and gardener, and handy man all made their unobtrusive appearances during the week while we were there.) The house is equipped with everything one could ask for and it is eminently liveable and comfortable. The view is spectacular, and all the outdoor and indoor eating areas and living spaces make you want to stay at home rather than go out touring or eating in restaurants. If you're looking for an Italian Villa in Northern Italy, away from the crowds, even in August, look no further. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

It was an amazing stay at Villa Ai Colli Berici! The city, Vicenza, was walkable and very nice. Anna can give you very good tips for local restaurants or wine tastings (definitely a must do). The view, the pool and the diner table were more than beautiful! It's a perfect place to visit with family or a group of friends. A week we will remember forever. Side note: there is a lift for the food in the kitchen (we found that very cool).

This is a beautiful gracious villa with tons of space. If you are looking for new and modern this property isn't for you, but if you are looking for comfort, history, gorgeous views and peace, this is the spot. Anna was amazing, making sure we got settled in and helping us replace the flat tire we had on the way. We enjoyed exploring Vicenza, Padua, Verona and Soave while we were there, ending everyday in the pool with prosecco. Who could ask for more. It was super hot while we were there but the pool was wonderful after a day of walking in the heat and the AC kept us comfortable at night. We will definitely come back if we travel with the family to this area again.

It was very hot during our stay (35-37 degrees C) with some minor issues with AC failing, but overall we beat the heat. The layout of the house is conducive to family gathering with beautiful views of the valley below. The kitchen is downstairs with a dumbwaiter so if you like to cook be aware. We enjoyed having the private kitchen as it allowed early risers to eat without waking others up. Overall the house is very sound proof. The house is located just outside of town. Some of our family made the 20 minute walk into town daily (quite a few steps up returning home) but others with mobility issues required parking near downtown. The drive to the house is initially a bit scary, especially for those of us accustom to large roads (Americans). After a few tries, it became old hat. Support for the house was exceptional. Anna and Lucia were always available to assist. Anna made some great restaurant recommendations and herself is a great chef. Vicenza is a well kept secret with very few tourists. It is a great destination for architecture, food, and relaxing. We highly recommend this Villa if you are in the general area."

Our conservative renovation had the goal of making our friends and guests to breath the environment of a manor house, inhabited for centuries by ancient patriarchal family (Passuello) which derived their wellbeing from management of its assets, land, sheep, cows and marble quarries.
Vitarolo, village of Lusiana, was born thanks to transhumance, which began almost two thousand years ago, during the Roman era; it was, and still is, the annual transfer that increases the products of farms bringing the herds and flocks to Lusiana during the warmer months. The Passuello family is a stable and large presence in the hamlet of Vitarolo since 1500 and it is possible to notice that the Villa Fiorita was the residence of the head of the family.
The renovation of the house has only covered a quarter of the large complex that once housed the many parts of the patriarchal family, but you can still find the doors and corridors that once connected the entire building. The effort to preserve at the maximum the originality of the house can be seen in some valuable pieces like the fireplace, the sink, doors and stairs. In a frame you will find a receipt of salt for the sheep, dated September 1900. We kept the structure of beams and staircases intact, even at cost of some sacrifice, like the fact that sometimes is possible to hear noise from other rooms. Each room, and its bathroom, is like a house in the house and you will be impressed with the fullness of your rest, the quiet reading and the general welfare of the person.
Of course, guests will also find all the modern conveniences. An efficient kitchen allows those who love the kitchen to devote him not only to prepare food for the family but also to make jam with the season fruit (local apples and pears are fantastic). Less than a hundred meters from the house there is a square with a spacious parking and Bertiaga restaurant where you can also request a personalized menu.

Next to the living room is the winter sitting room, perfect for afternoon tea, with direct access to an external patio, where we have a large table that can accommodate all guests for outdoor dining.

We then find the internal dining room with a large table with white armchairs and windows overlooking the garden.

The kitchen, spacious and modern, is fully equipped with high-end appliances and features a central island, ideal for preparing meals for a large group. Communicating with the kitchen, we have a room dedicated to the breakfast area, convenient and functional.

On the left side of the entrance, the ground floor hosts an elegant study, perfect for those seeking a quiet environment for work or reading, and a library. The floor is completed by a service bathroom and a fully equipped laundry room.

A final wing of the villa, separate from the guest area, is used by the Owner as an office area and is not available to guests.



FIRST FLOOR

A majestic staircase leads from the entrance to the upper floor, where 6 bedrooms are located.

Climbing the stairs, the first area on the right consists of a double bedroom, a twin bedroom, which can be joined or separated, both overlooking the garden. The two rooms share a large bathroom with a whirlpool bath.

We then enter the sitting room that leads to the Master bedroom with a walk-in wardrobe and an en-suite bathroom with shower and whirlpool bath. The balcony and large windows of the Master bedroom overlook the park and offer a wide view of the city of Vicenza.

Continuing down the corridor leading to the other rooms, we find a large bedroom with a double bed and an en-suite bathroom with a bath, and a room with two beds that can be used together as a double bed or separately with an en-suite bathroom with a bath and shower.

Another room with two beds that can be joined or separated with an en-suite bathroom with a bath completes the floor and allows us to accommodate 12 people.

The rooms are spacious and extremely bright, and each room is equipped with large windows that allow enjoying the view of the surrounding greenery or the city of Vicenza.

This wonderful villa is located only 5km from downtown Vicenza and 45 minutes from the historic cities of Venice and Verona. You are very close to the thrilling views of Lake Garda and the wildly picturesque towns of Asolo, Bassano del Grappa and Padova. It is a three storey complex with full guest access to the first two floors. There are three great sized rooms and three immaculately presented bathrooms, the master bedroom is an en-suite.

The villa is surrounded by lush green land with lots of natural space. A truly magical place to relax, and in warmer seasons you can enjoy the calm settings from the views of the hammock. There are large windows throughout the complex that allow lots of light inside and offer you clear views of the green landscapes.

There is a utility room with a seperate washer and dryer and a large sink should you wish to handwash any items. Each room has been tastefully decorated and allows you to feel at home, away from home. The kitchen has many modern appliances with a dishwasher and a wine cooler.

If you are travelling with young children, the house has been baby-proofed in order to minimise hazards for adventerous toddlers!

Villa Ai Colli Berici can be found on a hillside on the edge of Vicenza, in the Veneto region of northeastern Italy with great views across the “Valley of Silence”.

In a beautiful setting, you are within striking distance to all that Vicenza has to offer – the heart of the town is around 2.5km away, a leisurely stroll in around half an hour. Even closer are local restaurants and a good supermarket. Stop off for a coffee or lunch in the pretty café-bar in the nearby 17th century villa which is open to the public, just a very short walk away, famous for its Tiepolo frescoes.

A UNESCO World Heritage site, Vicenza was a prosperous town under Venetian rule and much of its fine architecture survives, mainly due to sixteenth century architect Andrea Palladio whose villas give the town its distinctive character. Palladio’s greatest masterpieces are “La Rotonda” and Teatro Olimpico whilst Palazzo Chiericati houses the museum and art gallery. The town is also famous for its jewellery production whilst wine-lovers will be able to arrange tastings in the villa or visit vineyards in the surrounding area and Prosecco DOC wineries.

Of course, the wonderful city of Venice (70km) is around a 45-minute train ride away so take a boat trip on the Grand Canal, sip a coffee in St Mark’s Square or just follow the trail of tiny squares and canals until you are away from the tourists. The romantic town of Verona (54km), also easily accessed by train, is associated with Romeo and Juliet and you can still visit that famous square and balcony.

Nearby Padua (37km) is a picturesque Renaissance city of squares and bridges, home to an ancient university and has a lively studenty feel. Book tickets beforehand for the popular Scrovegni Chapel and view the amazing Giotto frescoes or marvel at the world famous Basilica di Sant’Antonio da Padova. Browse in the markets around Palazzo della Ragione or picnic in the gardens near Corso del Popolo.

Bassano del Grappa (34km) is another great day trip, a pretty town known for its wooden 13th century Ponte Vecchio Bridge designed by Palladio. It’s situated where the flat Veneto plains reach the hills leading to the Alps. Call into the elegant medieval city of Marostica (29km) on the way back from Bassano to see the 14th century Piazzo Castello with its markets, bars restaurants and shops - a lovely spot to while away an hour or two. In the middle of the square is a huge chess board where people are the chess pieces!

The village of Asiago (64km) stands on its namesake plateau and is a popular holiday destination during winter and summer. It’s famous for its cheese, honey and jam and is a great place for outdoor activities - the old train road for walkers or cyclists connects it to the other nearby villages and there is skiing and snowboarding during the winter.

I put a duvet folded 3 times to make the bed soft enough to sleep. My husband and I switched sides and he felt the same way. Some drains drain very slowly, the upstairs main bathroom shower floods. Master bathroom floods, not too much, due to moldings. Some of the furniture needs to be replaced you sink in and window seat cushion need to be redone. The private entrance for the staff is not private, you share it unless you want to use other another door. There is a washer but no dryer. The kitchen is on the ground floor, eating area is one floor up. There is a dumb waiter to help to move food upstairs. It’s a Downtown Abby set up but no where to eat in kitchen. We rented the villa for 17 days, our sheets an towels were changed once. No cleaning is provided for stay unless you want to pay extra. The house has ants in living room and stairs to kitchen. There are also little flying black bugs that come out of master bath sink drains. Live in staff would come into house when we were gone which I did not like. Staff women would also go through our trash outside.The villa is one I would not rent again, I have rented much nicer villas for the same price."
