The kitchen is in the living room, which is the main room of the apartment, the one where the permanent residents live and work during the day.
For this reason, you won't have the option to cook there. However, you can store small food and drinks in the fridge, and heat up what needs to be in the microwave. There are many food stores nearby, including supermarkets: you will have no difficulty finding something to eat.
