One bedroom, one full bath & a brand new, high quality Queen sofa bed for 2 more guests, sleeping up to 4.

Super comfy bed(s), luxurious furniture and inspiring artwork through out.

The kitchen is stocked with a Nespresso machine for morning coffee or espresso, a coffee press, tea kettle, coffee, tea and sugar and enough water to start you off or for a short stay. We have cooking essentials like olive oil, salt, pepper and garlic.
There is a state of the art delonghi toaster oven (as well as the regular oven and stove), blender, mixing bowls, measuring cups and spoons, utensils, mixer, air fryer, baking sheets, wine glasses & opener and more.

The full bathroom also has a bidet and a lovely view of nature from the shower. There are toiletries (shampoo, conditioner and body wash), towels, hand towels and make up remover face towels.
Nothing *quite like* viewing wildlife from the shower!

The apartment has two patios, one with a BBQ grill and dining set that sits beneath a cascading mountain where you can often hear or see the local wild life, such as foxes, deer and bob cats. Both patios have Edison lights that go on at night for the ultimate evening atmosphere.

In this brand new remodeled ADU/private guest suite, you will find yourself with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Located in between Topanga Canyon and Calabasas, you will be surrounded by an endless natural setting with hiking and the beaches just minutes away. Inside you will find a full kitchen/dining, a full bathroom, bedroom and living area with a smart TV. Designed with comfort in mind, this space feels like home away from home!
The space
This is a 3 story home in beautiful Topanga Canyon near Calabasas. The first story has been fully renovated into a private 550 sq foot guest suite, which is where you'll be staying. Inside your guest suite, you will find everything you need for a comfortable stay: bedroom, closet, kitchen (with fridge, stove, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster oven/air fryer), full bathroom, laundry (washer and dryer), 65 inch smart TV with all of the applications.
Guest access
You will have the entire guest suite to yourself. It is fully detached with its own private entrance. There is limited outdoor space at the home as we are located right on the strip, but we are located in the woods so there are dozens of hiking trails and nearby beaches for you to enjoy within minutes drive. FOR TESLA CHARGER USE: You are welcome to charge between 9 AM - 4 PM ONLY (electricity is cheapest during this time, and I use it myself at night). The fee is $25 per full charge. It is a level 2 Tesla charger and can charge the car from 0%-100% in roughly 7 hours. Thank you!
Other things to note
In addition to the king bed, there is a sleeper sofa available for a potential third guest. Please note that the sleeper sofa may not be AS comfortable as the bed, but I will have extra linens, blankets, and pillows in the closet near the laundry to make it as comfy as possible -- This sleeper sofa could be suitable for a child perhaps. Please note that there is only ONE parking space available in the driveway. If you have more than one car, you will need to park down the street (about 800 feet from my driveway, but it does require a walk down a rather busy road).

Monte Nido is nestled in the Santa Monica Mountains between Calabasas and Malibu, 5 minutes away from Pepperdine University in Malibu. You can walk to the Backbone trail head from our yard. The guest house has a private entrance, full kitchen, bath and french doors that open up to a private patio with a fountain. There is also a private deck for star gazing and afternoon naps. Our property is located across from Calabasas Peak and many great hiking trails. In addition, we are about 9 miles from Malibu Beach and 4-5 miles from the shops, restaurants and night life of Calabasas, Woodland Hills and Topanga.

You will enter our gated property from the driveway. Once you have booked we will provide an entry code. There is parking for one car behind the gate in front of the shared gym. You will walk around the gym which opens up to a grassy lawn with terracing, mountain views and mature trees. Enter the guest apartment from one of the 3 double French doors and enjoy the beautiful Spanish Tile and furnishings. You will find the apartment stocked with a kitchenette, dishes, utensils and glassware. The apartment has A/C and heat a full-sized bed and large flat screen TV with an Amazon Firestick. The apartment has a shower, pedestal and vanity. The second private bathroom with toilet tub, shower and sinks is 10 steps away. You will walk along a lighted path ten steps past your outdoor gas grill and picnic table to get to the exterior door of your private second bathroom.

Shared gym has a TV, full set of weights, Pilates machine, treadmill, A/C and Elliptical.

This is non-smoking, non-vaping property with quiet hours of 10 pm to 8 am daily. No drugs of any kind are allowed on the property.

This is a lower unit apartment with another apartment above it. Both can be rented together or separately. They share 2 acres of land with a house. The parking area is very large and has plenty of space for each unit.
Guests are required to be respectful of other tenants and guests. This is not a party property.
We host a lot of individual travelers, business travelers, couples, friends and families.
No unauthorized guests allowed.
No commercial photography or filming of any kind is permitted.
Pets must be leashed when outside on the property & are not to be left unattended in the apartment.

WiFi is very strong and this is a great space to get some work done.
There is a water heater that requires going through the apartment to access, if the owner or manager needs access for any emergency reasons we will need to enter the unit regardless of if it is occupied (with advanced notice of course) this is VERY rare- we haven’t had to service it in the almost three years we have owned the property, but just want to be transparent and make sure you are aware of any possibilities.

The property is next door to The Malibu Retreat and we often host breath work, yoga and sound healing classes there. Please inquire about the schedule and let us know if you would like to join and we will be happy to share a discount code with you to join us 🤗

During your stay you may see our local deer family grazing on the lawn, or the resident peacock. There are many rabbits, squirrels, snakes & lizards, raccoons & opossums, field mice, spiders & many beautiful birds. We do our best to keep all bugs out using natural remedies in order to preserve the land & a pest control company as maintenance. We are in nature, so it is still possible that they come inside as we are nestled in the nature. Some people glimpse an occasional bobcat, coyote, fox or mountain lion.
Please don't feed the wildlife but please DO enjoy them... and if you're squeamish, please consider all this prior to booking! ✨⛰️

The Malibu Retreat also owns the lower property which has a large pool, jacuzzi, yoga deck, 4 bedroom Main House & additional guest house.
