The Neighborhood:
Great place to explore Manhattan Beach but also on the north side of town where you have quicker access to the rest of LA. One block from the beach and near lots of GREAT restaurants, bars, coffee shops and stores
Getting Around:
Walk Score rates the neighborhood "Very Walkable and Very Bikeable", and if you wanted you wouldn't need to drive anywhere.
-We have one small parking space available and a parking pass for the beach parking lot that works from 6PM-8AM and on the weekend. Street parking also available. Please do not park in the driveway and try to limit the amount of time loading/unloading to limit the congestion on the street.
-Bike rental available in the neighborhood
Other Things to Note:
-This is a non-smoking property, smoking is prohibited in units and on balconies or decks per the Manhattan Beach smoking ordinance.
- This is a second floor apartment. Someone lives in the unit below. The garage is a shared space so please be considerate/respectful.
- Parties, events and unregistered guests are not allowed
-We ask that all guests be respectful and courteous to our neighbors. This includes community quiet hours from 10pm-8am daily.
Trash Cans: Located under the stairs by the entrance. Place recyclable items into the blue can.
Please enjoy the beach but use the outdoor shower or hose to wash off all sand before reentering the apartment.
There is central heating but no AC. AC is generally not a necessity in this area. I find that the ocean breeze and the fans in the living room and each bedroom is sufficient to keep the place cool. There is a fireplace in the living room and master bedroom.
The Manhattan beach TOT (transient occupancy tax) 14% tax on our property is included automatically during guest check out.

This is a beautiful guest suite with your own entrance by the garden with Jacuzzi. I offer bikes, quiet, outdoor dining, great wifi, and just a 5-minute walk to the beach and town. I had booked a major hotel in downtown LA and a local checking availability in El Segundo (about 20-25 min drive to LACC). I saw this property, it was half the cost of my hotel, I was somewhat skeptical, I took a leap, canceled the hotel and booked. Couldn’t have worked out any better. The first plus, the property is 10 min from the airport, maybe less. Second plus, I rented a car, plenty of parking. Third, the area is very chill…humble, working-class, family-friendly, neighborhood. Unfortunately I was working most of my stay, so I only experienced a limited time in downtown El Segundo, walking distance, 2 min drive…what I did see was quaint and charming. In a good way. As for the property itself, it is located on the lower level of a multi-unit home, the entrance is hidden from plain view, located in the back side, accompanying a yard/garden gazebo space. Some could find this awkward..actually didn’t bother me, thought it was a good thing, added to the sense of privacy. The room is very small, hard to determine from the pics. The king bed takes up most of the space, not a lot problem and it is comfortable. The bathroom small but plenty functional, the shower is very good, plenty room, good temp control and strong pressure. No kitchen; there is a fridge and microwave and both work well. The biggest plus is that the property owner (Julia) was great; very responsive and helpful! Not luxury, No complaints!"

The only thing I would like to warn future guests about is the covered parking space. It’s ideal for a more compact car. It was quite a challenge parking our suburban. But there is plenty of street parking if you’re okay with that!"

- "Definitely cozy, could be set up a little differently as it was hard for 2 people to get in and out of the bed easily as one side is against the wall. The salt pool was a great place to relax and soak up the sun when not at the beach. I did feel that there were too many reminders of the rules and check out times. Extra bath towels would’ve been nice as well as a kettle to make coffee easier in the morning. We will be back but more prepared for what to bring for our own comfort."

- "Comfy bed, slept well. Equipped kitchen, though we didn't use it beyond keeping drinks cold, and microwaving left overs. Had the pool to ourselves whenever we used it. Walkable to El Segundo Beach, and downtown El Segundo, which has a wide variety of restaurants. Easy drive to Marina del Rey, Santa Monica Beach & Pier, as well as Manhattan, Venice, Redondo, & Long Beaches, with their own unique restaurants, shops, & People. We were visiting family living in El Segundo. With this place being sitting walking distance of their home(s), and central to so much, will be back. Owners quickly responded to any/all questions"

FULL transparency so you know EXACTLY what you're getting (no surprises, unlike in other Airbnb's) so please don't hold it against us in reviews :)
1) being next to the park, it is possible to encounter ants between regular pest treatments (usually, only in the summer). Please do your part by keeping the place clean :)
2) pool is not heated (like most california pools) but it does warm up in the sun
3) this is definitely a building for reasonable people who don't create lots of noise. Manager is on site and if excessive, unnecessary noise or smoking is reported...swift consequences will follow.
It is easy to hear the neighbors, but thats almost everywhere. 20+ apartments live here happily. We had over 1000 guests in various units over the year, which also found the place quiet and comfortable, many of whom love it so much they became regulars :) BUT, I don't want to minimize any issues, for SOME, being in apartment where you can't be as loud as you like, or might hear the neighbors might be an issue. If you are sensitive, feel free to ask more questions.
4) we don't have a carbon monoxide detector because we don't need one...we don't have a gas stove :)
5) we recommend purchasing travel insurance when booking your stay. Like ALL hosts who don't own their property, we are not able to provide refunds outside allowed cancelation dates. Unfortunately, I cannot take on the financial burden if you change your mind, as I still have to pay rent no matter what. Thank you for understanding and being a well prepared traveler :)

Quiet neighborhood, you can walk to restaurants, banks and shopping. Bike ride to beach, this unit is close to many parks and walking trails. 2 miles from LAX airport. Washer & dryer in unit and wifi internet. All rooms are bright with lots of natural light and wonderful sea breeze.

Your room is furnished with a cal king size bed, side chair, ceiling fan, dresser, closet with sliding mirrored doors and a TV with amazon fire stick. The room is well lit with lots of natural light.
The outside garden is peaceful to sit and take in the fresh air. A large park is our backyard. Perfect for anyone who enjoys quiet and loves to relax!

1) being next to the park, it is possible to encounter ants between regular pest treatments (usually, only in the summer). Please do your part by keeping the place clean :)
2) pool is not heated (like most california pools) but it does warm up in the sun
3) this is definitely a building for reasonable people who don't create lots of noise. Manager is on site and if excessive, unnecessary noise or smoking is reported...swift consequences will follow.
It is easy to hear the neighbors, but thats almost everywhere. 20+ apartments live here happily. We had over 1000 guests in various units over the year, which also found the place quiet and comfortable, many of whom love it so much they became regulars :) BUT, I don't want to minimize any issues, for SOME, being in apartment where you can't be as loud as you like, or might hear the neighbors might be an issue. If you are sensitive, feel free to ask more questions.
4) we don't have a carbon monoxide detector because we don't need one...we don't have a gas stove :)
5) we recommend purchasing travel insurance when booking your stay. Like ALL hosts who don't own their property, we are not able to provide refunds outside allowed cancelation dates. Unfortunately, I cannot take on the financial burden if you change your mind, as I still have to pay rent no matter what. Thank you for understanding and being a well prepared traveler :)
6) we have all the beach/pool essentials (towels, umbrella) except snorkeling gear - which isn't even needed in LA, the waves are too big and there's nothing to snorkel :)

The El Porto studio is located on Highland Ave just two short blocks up from El Porto beach in north Manhattan, one of the best surfing beaches in the South Bay. From the studio, you can walk to the ocean, restaurants, bars, local entertainment and the Strand. It is perfect for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers. You will love staying here because of the vibrant neighborhood, proximity to the beach and easy access to LAX. Business License #27103826
The space
This quaint studio will be your new home away from home. It features a pull down Murphy bed, comfortable sofa, 50" smart TV and original design elements from the 1930s. Two bicycles and two beach chairs are available for use in the garage. Free parking is available 24/7 in the brick alcove directly in front of the studio. The location is very convenient for overnight guests who want to stay at the beach yet need quick access to LAX. Please note that it is located on a busy street, so there is some ambient traffic noise. Also, the bathroom is a tight fit for larger frames, feel free to inquire. A 14% transient occupancy tax is payable to the City and is listed as a separate line item.

1) being next to the park, it is possible to encounter ants between REGULAR pest treatments (usually, only in the summer). Please do your part by keeping the place clean. Do not keep/defrost meat outside the fridge and please dispose sanitary items in extra baggies, as these are carnivorous ants and they're out for blood and meat :)
2) pool is not heated (like most california pools) but it does warm up in the sun
3) this is definitely a building for reasonable people who don't create lots of noise. Manager is on site and if excessive, unnecessary noise or smoking is reported...swift consequences will follow.
It is easy to hear the neighbors, but thats almost everywhere. 20+ apartments live here happily. We had over 1000 guests in various units over the years, which also found the place quiet and comfortable, many of whom love it so much they became regulars :) BUT, I don't want to minimize any issues, for SOME, being in apartment where you can't be as loud as you like, or might hear the neighbors might be an issue. If you are sensitive, feel free to ask more questions.
4) we don't have a carbon monoxide detector because we don't need one...we don't have a gas stove :)
5) we recommend purchasing travel insurance when booking your stay. Like ALL hosts who don't own their property, we are not able to provide refunds outside allowed cancelation dates. Unfortunately, I cannot take on the financial burden if you change your mind or something happens, as I still have to pay rent no matter what. Thank you for understanding and being a well prepared traveler :)
6) we have some beach/pool essentials, but we don’t know what you expect, there’s definitely some towels and probably a snorkel mask or umbrella …I don’t remember which unit has what :)
