The apartment is a short walk from restaurants, coffee shops, and the Riverwalk recreational trail, which is accessed out of the parking lot in back of the building. Nice big T.V. and high speed wi-fi. Bedding is o.k. If you're really particular about your pillow, bring your own (I always do). A note to you light sleepers: there are train tracks close to the building, and the whistle can be heard in the still of the night. Bring ear plugs if that might be a problem for you. Keep it simple at this 438 sq ft peaceful and centrally located place in the heart of Chatham, VA. Within walking distance of Chatham Hall and Hargrave Military School. Our local coffee shop, Callands Coffee and restaurants, are within walking distance as well. We are conveniently located 5 minutes from Old Dominion Ag Center, 25 minutes from Danville and 45 minutes from Lynchburg. Smith Mountain Lake State Park is about 45 minutes from here which offers various outdoor activities, including lake swimming, boat ramp, hiking, and fishing. Caesars Virginia Casino - 28 min drive.
Virginia International Raceway - 44 min drive. The living space has a 20x20 outdoor patio as well. This is a basement portion of the home and does not include the main level of the home. We apologize for any inconvenience but we do not allow any animals.

The space
NOTE: Dogs will be considered on a case-by-case basis. We love dogs and realize it's a PITA to find dog-friendly rentals. Our cleaning company assesses a fee of $45 per pup if we know in advance; $100 if we don't know in advance :(. We'll send you a separate request for pet fees through the system.

Although less than 400sqft, the plethora of windows and natural light creates a sense of sleeping outdoors.

When you enter the driveway and pass the large pine trees, feel free to park in the grassy area off to the left .
On the wall to the left of the garage door is a lockbox with a key, as well as a light switch to illuminate the path to The Big Tiny House (and also to the adjacent Rusty's Retreat).
Follow the path to your left between the garage and the large white propane tank (looks like a submarine). Walk approximately 20ft and you'll see a large pine tree with a sign for The Big Tiny House. Open the wooden gate to your right and you'll see the tiny house ahead :)
You'll have full use of the tiny home as well as the outdoor space that surrounds it.
Other things to note
Although separate, The Big Tiny House shares a property with the well-known property Boogie Nights Manor as well as fellow listing Rusty's Retreat. Parking and access points are separate for the listings, but it's possible that sounds may travel between the respective outdoors spaces :)
The house also has a great firepit that looks straight out of an episode of The Flintstones. As we can't guarantee the availability of large deliveries of firewood locally, we recommend you pick up a couple bundles at your local hardware or grocery store. The IGA grocery store (10 mins away in Nellysford) generally has bundles that sell in the $6-7 range.

Private apartment in a well-cared for 113 year old home on West Main Street!! Sidewalks and bike lanes make it easy to get to Averett University, SOVAH Health, downtown, restaurants and shops, tour the neighborhood or head just down the street to Caesars Casino! Easy commute to VIR, Martinsville Speedway and South Boston Raceway.
The bedroom is furnished with a mixture of traditional and antiques, providing a queen pillow top mattress and an armoire for clothing; the living area is a beautiful and open sunroom furnished with a comfy reclining sofa and 2 recliners; the kitchen provides a full-sized refrigerator, microwave, 2 coffee makers, gas stove and a retro/vintage table for 4. Unit sleeps 2 on a queen pillowtop. Note* my property manager may need to access the supply room (adjoining the kitchen) for occasional laundry and supplies, but they will not disturb you or your property and will notify you when access is necessary.
