- "This property was not just as described but even better. The property is somewhat remote (which is part of its charm) and has large pastures and forestry all around it. Which again is so great to just sit on the hanging swings and enjoy. A buddy of mine from the military met up for the first time in 20 years here and it is exactly what we both needed. A chance to relax and chill out on a quiet environment. He has four kids and 2 grandkids and needed a get away. I needed a get away from work desperately. We both got exactly what we needed. The communication with the property owner was nothing short of outstanding which is sick a comfort and seldom happens. She made things very easy and was very informative when I asked questions. This alone would lead me to recommend this property. I highly encourage anyone, regardless of the reason they want to get away, to consider this property. The town which is about 10 minutes away is really neat and has some fast food, other cafes and grocery stores. A little black just a couple miles away called BBs was perfect for lunch - don’t let the exterior fool you. The food was great - hamburgers, chili dogs, BLTs! This is a place I will be returning to often now that I have found it. I travel extensively and this would be one of my highest rated locations I have stayed at. A mere 1 mile from the new Caesar's Casino...sin all day and attone at night at The Church of the Perpetual Boogie!

Abandoned for 11 years, the CPB restoration journey has been chronicled in newspapers, on TV, and we even have a large "congregation" on FB.

The Church of the Perpetual Boogie has been under historic restoration for the past 2.5 years. 100% of the proceeds will be put toward the restoration of the 1870's sanctuary and continued enhancements to the living areas.
The space
In the "City of Churches" the very first house of worship was constructed on this spot in the 1820's by the Presbyterians. Later in the 19th century, the Presbyterian built our amazing 9000 sqft Gothic Revival church.

You'll have access to 3 bedrooms... one was the former Pastor Study, the second part of the former Nursery and the third a former sitting room. Each bedroom has its own climate control and large light-filled broken arch windows.

The primary living space is 1500sqft and served as the former Fellowship Hall. This space has a stage with a large 85" TV, ample seating, and even a bar (altar?).

The dining room comfortably seats 8-10 at the 11' table. There is plenty of other seating in the room as well.

The kitchen is massive and the counter space is overwhelming... typical of church kitchens designed to feed the masses. The appliances are brand-new (the fridge even makes ice cubes in multiple sizes!).

The sanctuary is not part of the listing, but we can show you around or grant access at your own risk. It's something special :)

Follow the path to your left between the garage and the large white propane tank (looks like a submarine). Walk approximately 20ft and you'll see a large pine tree with a sign for The Big Tiny House. Open the wooden gate to your right and you'll see the tiny house ahead :)

Other things to note
Although separate, The Big Tiny House shares a property with the well-known property Boogie Nights Manor as well as fellow listing Rusty's Retreat. Parking and access points are separate for the listings, but it's possible that sounds may travel between the respective outdoors spaces :)

The house also has a great firepit that looks straight out of an episode of The Flintstones. As we can't guarantee the availability of large deliveries of firewood locally, we recommend you pick up a couple bundles at your local hardware or grocery store. The IGA grocery store (10 mins away in Nellysford) generally has bundles that sell in the $6-7 range.

As you enter the house, you'll be greeted by the warm and welcoming living room, complete with a comfortable couch, 2 leather armchairs, and flat-screen TV. The open layout of the house allows you to easily flow between the living room, dining area, and kitchen, which are all seamlessly connected. The kitchen area has a mini fridge, microwave and ice maker. other guest or myself and family stay upstairs. During your visit, we do not come downstairs and the upstairs is off limit to the downstairs guest as well

Internet tends to be slower in the basement and cell reception is limited in certain areas in the basement as well.
I have 2 friendly pitbulls that have free roam upstairs. They are protective over the house and the whole neighborhood so they will bark at outsiders passing by.
I do not offer cable. I have Netflixand one of the TVs has about 30 local channels provided by an antenna.

You'll have a private, three-room suite: bedroom, small dressing room, and private en-suite bathroom. Your bedroom is furnished with a hand-crafted, queen-sized, canopy bed, a wardrobe for your hanging clothes, chairs and tables. The dressing room is set up with a coffee bar. The private bathroom features the original claw-foot tub that is outfitted with a shower. (Mobility considerations: If you have mobility issues, please consider that you will need to climb into and out of a claw-foot tub. There is also a set of bed-steps for ascending the hand-made bed - which is a few inches higher than your average mass-manufactured bed.)

This is an old house, built with copious amounts of plaster and lathing. The wifi signal is not always 100% perfect. I use a range extender to boost the signal, and I believe that the signal is better than in most hotels where I have stayed. FYI, I use the internet service for television and movies, and I rarely find problems.

The age of the house also precludes putting a mini-fridge in the guest suite. The electrical wiring simply won't handle it, and re-wiring opens up a host of issues (tearing open walls and unknown budget considerations). I'm sorry. It's another price of living in a historic home.

Please note also that the master suite is on the second floor, and the entrance to the house is also up a flight of stairs. That's in addition to the bedsteps for the higher than average bed and the claw-foot tub in the bathroom. If you have any mobility issues, this might give you pause to reconsider this Airbnb listing. I would love to have your business, but I don't want to endanger any guests.

In addition to your bed & bath suite, there are also chairs on the front porch to enjoy most of the year -- along with a ceiling fan on the porch. A new gym and pool are available at a recently opened YMCA facility approximately a mile away (a twenty-minute walk or a three-minute drive). There's also an enormous city park nearby. The kitchen is not listed as an amenity because the city forbids any meal services, meal production, or kitchen usage as a a condition of my permit. I have to be extremely careful with all of the conditions of my permit as I am constantly monitored.

During your stay
I'm delighted to direct you to good restaurants, offer driving directions, get you onto the Averett campus, or help in any way that I can. If you prefer solitude, you can certainly have that here.
