- "The Omni Homestead Resort is breathtakingly beautiful! The new renovations have saved the history and character of this grand hotel while updating it with more modern conveniences. The beautifully decorated grounds and common areas, and especially the grand hall with it’s two story Christmas tree, burning logs in the fireplaces, and gifted pianists playing Christmas tunes on the grand piano made our two night stay here our favorite part of this Christmas. Enjoy this rare, pristine location, top of Warm Springs mountain. Clear days offer 60 mile views. Abundant wildlife. The property boarders a 9000 acre Nature Conservancy preserve and George Washington National forest. The Jefferson Pools, Hot Springs and Homestead Omni resort are a short drive from the house.
The space
Great for stargazing and fires. 60 mile mountain views. Frequent sightings of deer, bear and grouse. Bordering a 9000 acre Nature Conservancy preserve and National Forest this is an amazing and rare spot to reconnect with nature.
We are located within 10 minutes of the Homestead on Warm Springs Mountain we are about 4 hours from DC and 3 hours from Richmond.
Fun things in the area:
Hike the Gorge and various activities through the Homestead Resort.
Swim in the Jefferson Pools and have dinner at the Gristmill Inn in Warm Springs.
Guest access
Full house
Other things to note
This a remote and rustic space. Fair to approach this as "Glamping" on 30 private acres with comfortable amenities, plumbing, cotton sheets, down blankets, bath linens, and a full but simple kitchen.
PLEASE NOTE FOR ALL GUESTS WITH CHILDREN:
Children under 2 will not be charged as additional guests. Children between the ages of 2-12 are 1/2 the charge of an additional guest. There is a house rules and liability waiver that should be reviewed. While children are permitted with the parents discretion please note that this house is not child proof for stairs or cabinets. Cleaning supplies are not behind locked cabinets and fall hazards are possible for unattended children around stairs or deck. Climbing on any furniture can pose a risk. Parents should consider this like camping in terms of extra vigilance and do their own risk assessment. Please fell free to ask any questions you may have.
Wildlife: This is a pristine area with abundant nature, The property is adjacent to the Nature Conservancy and National forest. Bears, deer and coyotes are abundant. Occasional snakes. Most often they are unseen or shy but follow the same precautions with these animals that you would on in National Park website. Do not leave food outside unattended, on the grill or trash around the fire pit.
There is a year round indoor clawfoot tub with shower head and an outside shower that is usable most of the year except when temps drop well below freezing. The cabin is over 200 years old. It has been reconstructed with original design and materials. It is a minimalist space and offers a glimpse into a primitive farmstead of old Appalachia. A terrific basecamp for reading, hiking or exploring the Allegheny mountains. Weather is dramatic but often beautiful and exciting. Winters provide many opportunities to see snow. The house is often covered in ice and snow all winter. Summers are mild and cool at night. Note that windstorms can occasionally tear a screen or blow off cushions. Sometimes between guests. We may not always be able to provide a perfect level of detail but the house will be thoroughly cleaned between stays. The newer home is well insulated, dry and cozy. Some of the finished details of a city home are not always possible but there is most importantly a roaring wood burning fire place. Doors may stick, and some have old locks. The older cabin can takes a couple hours to heat up but is very comfortable after that. One of the downstairs rooms in the older log cabin is used to hold firewood, garden tools or necessities of the house. It is best to consider this as a glamping adventure in the woods. With that in mind we hope to exceed expectations. Please review policy and rules on safety. It is too extensive to list ever quirk and eccentricity of the property. There is a long history of reviews and pictures which paint a fair experience of what to expect. Please feel free to message any questions.
- "My wife and I stayed for a night on our anniversary and absolutely loved it. The property is beautiful and the house has so much character. If you’re looking for a nice quiet getaway this is the place." - "We loved this for our anniversary trip "

- "This sweet cabin is the perfect mix of rustic charm and "lets live in reality" necessities. Could not ask for it to be cleaner, or cozier. Many thanks for sharing the peace and quiet with two very exhausted humans and one recently adopted dog who LOVED every minute in your slice of heaven!" - "The property was really clean and there were so many things there that we forgot to bring ourselves like camping chairs to use down by the creek, bug spray, dish soap etc. The owners were super nice and made sure we were comfortable during our stay. - "The cabin is well represented by the web site. It was very clean. We enjoyed the screened in deck, outside deck, fire pit and kayaking on the creek. It's a good distance from civilization and few places around you. The cabin has more stuff in it than I was expecting. Shampoo and some toiletries, a full kitchen, I honestly thought it was more like someone's house that I'd rented than a cabin because there was everything you could possibly think of there. Hospitality: The owner was especially helpful when we were there. She responded to text, email and calls quickly and gave us advice on the area. I felt like she thought of just about everything. Bugs: Yes of course there are. Bring a can of insect fogger and walk around the perimeter of the lawn with it. We did that and within hours the bugs were mostly gone, and we were able to sit outside even at night and enjoy the camp fire and running stream. Sulfur in water: Yes, it isn't perfect but there was a water cooler with 5 gallon bottles of water in the kitchen so there was no need to worry about bringing enough fresh water. It reminded me of a destination I went to in the Rocky Mountains that had natural hot water springs that smelled a bit like sulfur - some places you have to pay extra for the minerals in the water, though I would prefer not to have the smell in the water. All in all, it was everything we hoped for, and we had a spectacular time."

Turtle Brook Farm. setting on over 100 acres, is home to some half dozen Morgan horses and offers visitors equestrian opportunities, but its accommodations are equally suitable for hikers, fishermen, birders, mountain bikers or anyone else looking to getaway to the heart of Bath County's unspoiled mountain splendor. Public access to the trout-rich Jackson River in Hidden Valley is just 10 minutes away.
The Gold Finch Cabin accommodate a family of four or two couples. The Gold Finch has a fully equipped kitchen, grilling facilities, pleasant living areas and porches and decks to take in wonderful farm views. The cabin is very comfortably and tastefully furnished.
All bedding, towels, linens, kitchenware are provided. The Goldfinch cabin has a large campfire pit for cool summer evenings. Firewood is available at no extra charge.
Should you want to bring your own horse our facility includes a 12 x24 run in sheds with paddocks, a working ring, pasturage and close proximity to several thousand acres of U.S. Forest land across Cobbler Mountain into Hidden Valley. We offer riding lessons as well as meaningful equine interaction for those, especially young children, who may be up close to these beautiful animals for the first time. It is amazing what close contact with a horse can do for a child's self-confidence.
Our private 127 acre environment is a wonderful blend of meadows, pasture land and mountain trail access all of which is open to our guests. Across the fields from our 1840's farm house is a small pond with a picnic area ideal for youngsters' fishing fun. A second stream fed pond, The Dragon Fly Pond, provides another peaceful setting and fishing opportunity. Guests will enjoy the hammock and deck overlooking the bull frog laden pond and watching the colorful dragon flies that lend their name to the site.. There are multiple lovely walks throughout the farm and serious hiking on Cobbler Mountain and throughout the county.
The bird and game populations on the farm are profuse and greatly varied ranging from Baltimore Orioles to Red Tail Hawks and from deer to black bear and foxes. Night skies are dark and filled with a brilliant display of stars above and, in summer, filled all around you with thousands and thousands of industrious fireflies.
If you read Turtle Brook Farm's reviews you will find that most guests come here to escape the rigors of their crowded urban or suburban lives. There are plenty of good books to read and games to play and sights to see, but cell phone service is sketchy except at the farm house. And the Warm Springs library is set up for any and all computer needs.
Your hosts, Lea and Claudia Campbell are always ready to answer questions, offer advice or resupply your cabin, but we know you have not come here to visit us and that you relish your privacy. Once on the farm, you are in your own world.
Turtle Brook is conveniently located on U.S. 220, just two and a half miles north of the county seat of Warm Springs and eight miles north of The Homestead Resort. - "Amazing cabin, amazing location. Definitely off the beaten path some. Perfect for a true mountain feel." - "The property was amazing and we had a great time. Exploring the trails by the river was so much fun. We saw 3 bears during our stay, turkeys, fish, and hundreds of other animals at the animal Safari nearby. The peaceful starry nights were spectacular, especially to watch the meteor showers. The pool table and pingpong table were a big hit when it was too hot to enjoy the outdoors. Thanks so much for your hospitality."

The house was clean, tidy, and was true to how it was described. Overall we had a great time! I wish, though, that there was more information about it being an active, working farm, as we heard machines running early in the morning, but it did not cause any issues whatsoever!" - "Gala Farmhouse is a gem. Perfect for a family and friends getaway. Modern amenities in a charmingly preserved farmhouse. Great kitchen for cooking! Comfortable beds. Very clean. Good spot for hiking, fishing, river activities. Hope to visit again!"

The Clubhouse offers a CAMPING opportunity in the woods! There is space for a tent or two, a fire pit, table & chairs for outdoor dining, and a park style charcoal grill. There is NO power unless we hook up the generator! You must walk or drive to the bathroom at the barn. It is CAMPING!!!

We strive to ensure all guests are provided with ample supplies. Thank you!***
>>Please remove all pillowcases and sheets; gather them with all bathroom linens and put everything in the bathtub as you depart.
>>Many fences on the property are electrified to keep livestock and other farm animals from wandering into the road or too far into the forests. These fences can deliver quite a jolt. Please be aware as you’re wandering—the wires are visible, just be cautious :)
>>We ask that any gates that you enter or exit on the farm, by car or by foot, be closed and latched to avoid animal escapes!
>>There is one green colored gate upon entry into the main drive of the cabin. There is an additional gate directly beside the cabin. To protect your vehicle from potentially curious cows, horses and sheep, we recommend that you park your vehicle in the parking space on the inside of this gate. When parking outside this gate, guests risk having vehicles explored by livestock.
