Please note: The house is located in a quiet residential area on a county road. The road is gravel and is what the county calls an "unimproved" road. A high-clearance vehicle is NOT required to navigate the 150 yards or so of the road—just drive slowly. However, in extreme winter conditions, all-wheel drive can be necessary. Top of the Hill is located a little over a mile from the courthouse in downtown Fayetteville, West Virginia. This 2 bedroom, 2 bath cabin features 2 queen size beds and one queen sized sleeper sofa. We also have two twin sized sleeping mats for additional sleeping space in the loft. The cabin will comfortably sleep 6-8 guest. The cabin features hardwood and tile throughout, and a full kitchen. There is a Keurig available to use (K cups not provided). The cabin features a washer and dryer for the use of our guest. Outside there is a large patio, picnic table, charcoal grill, fire ring, and porch for your enjoyment.

The cabin is located across the street from Cantrell Ultimate Rafting’s base camp. With a minimum two night stay at The Top of the Hill Cabin during the 2023 season, Cantrell Rafting will offer cabin guests a $109 Double run on the Lower New River. Double the whitewater with lunch! Ages 10 and up. This super discounted price is available 7 days a week from May-August (not valid in October). During Gauley Season we are offering a Thursday special this year. Cabin rental on Thursday night for $175 plus tax, cleaning fee, and a Friday morning Lower Gauley trip for $99/person (4 person minimum), or Upper Gauley for $119/person.

The cabin can only be accessed with a 4WD vehicle as it is at the top of a very steep driveway. The cabin is conveniently located to many of Fayette County’s recreation opportunities including climbing, hiking, and rafting.

The cabin is about 1.3 miles from the Long Point trail head, a 1.6 mile trail to an amazing overlook of the New River Gorge Bridge.

The Arrowhead bike trails are just under 3 miles from the cabin offering over 12 miles of mountain bike tails.

The New River Gorge Bridge is 2.8 miles from our door.

We didn’t need to use the 2 upstairs bedrooms. The futon in the back game room was great for one kid. The house was clean, very cool temperature, and minutes from restaurants and hiking and Adventures on the Gorge. We were in constant communication on the VRBO app, if needed. Easy keyless entry. Fayetteville is such a cool town with a great vibe. Pies and Pints was the best pizza we’ve EVER eaten! Try it. I only wish we could safely walk to town from the house—it’s so close, but the narrow, windy road isn’t walker-friendly. Not a complaint about the house, but just noting that it’s close by many things but not really walking distance. Thanks so much for having us! We would return!"

This 2018 custom tiny home has a front porch with extended deck and some outdoor chairs for your use. The backyard includes a trampoline and big swing that you may use at your own risk. There is a walking trail through the woods to town. Compost and recycling are available upon request. Please note that there may be road noise particularly on weekday mornings as the nearby road is a commute route. It's not perfectly quiet here but that means its ok to be a little noisy :)

***We list it for 2 guests, but a small child would be fine to share the space as well. The main loft has a queen size bed and there is a small couch downstairs.

This efficiency apartment is over our garage which is separate from the house so you have your own entrance. This space is well-furnished with kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. The brand new queen bed with white crisp cotton sheets and down duvet is ready to drift you off into dreamland after a full day.

The space
This efficiency apartment is the loft space above our detached two car garage. You enter into the apartment via your own entrance.

At the top of the stairs you will find this newly remodeled apartment that is fully furnished to host all your adventures in the new record. Centrally located through miles from downtown, you can be at any of the major resorts within 15 minutes.

The fully furnished kitchen allows you to cook in if you choose. With a four burner stove, small refrigerator and microwave you have all the comforts of home, in a compact space.

The brand new queen bed complete with crisp white cotton sheets and a feather comforter that will wrap you up after a long day. Kick your feet up after a long day on the loveseat or rest in bed and swivel the TV out to catch up on your favorite show.

The small bath has a cherry red cast iron tub to soak your weary bones after a day of adventure. Please note that there is no shower, but only a bath. All natural 3-1 bath and body soap is provided .

The kitchen table fits two perfectly and allows for a desk space if you need it as well. Internet allows you to work from home if you need it, or stream your favorite shows and movies.

There is a grill out back as well as a table and chairs if you want to cook out or eat outside or just catch some sun. Feel free to share this communal space. Please leave everything clean and as you found it!

We have a 2 night minimum in season but if you’d like if for just one night please reach out and we will see if we can accommodate you.

As you pull into the driveway park on the right side in front of the right garage door. Backing out into the road can be tricky so don't worry if you need to use the grassy areas to turn around. We drive on them all the time! As you walk towards the house you will see a breezeway that takes you back to the apartment door on your right.

Other things to note
Please note that there is no shower. Due to the sloped roof, only a bathtub could fit but it’s a shiny red cast iron tub ready for bath-time. Please be careful to keep water in the tub :)

We use all natural cleaning products, soaps and non-scented laundry detergents.

There is absolutely no smoking allowed on the premises. A $500 cleaning fee will be charged if we can smell any smoke in the apartment. This is our personal space so please be respectful.

The Smith house is a historic home located a short walk away from Downtown with its many eateries and shops. Also located a short walk to local trails that access the National park.

The Masters Suite gives you sole access to the kitchen. While the space does not have the ability to be locked it will be yours alone to use.

•The master features a queen sized bed and a TV. In addition, a squat rack and free weights. Guest who use the gym equipment, must sign a Guest Release and Wavier before use. Additional fee of $50.00.

•The second bedroom features a queen sized bed and TV. In addition, an office space with printer and office supplies.

•The third bedroom features a queen sized bed, bookcase and six drawer dresser and mirror.

Pets:
Pets will be permitted on a case-by-case basis for $100 non-refundable fee. The homeowner is highly allergic to shedding animals but understands humans and their fur babies go hand and hand.

1. Pets require pre approval and a fee of $100.00. Please notify me of any pets or Airbnb resolution will be notified.
2. All trash must be bagged before throwing away outside. I have to pick out the trash (pizza boxes/beer cans) if it’s not bagged in a tall kitchen trash bag. We live in rural Appalachia and not the city.
3. Check out time is promptly at 11:00 AM. A late check out fee will be charged of $100.00 per half hour pass check out. Please check out on time for the cleaner and next guests. We do not allow late check out.
4. Tomodachi resides on the back half of the property.
5. The use of the gym requires a $50.00 fee in addition to guest release and waiver.

Welcome to Adventure Avenue! Here you will find quiet comfort in a convenient location. Our home is fully furnished and features local art from Kevin Umbel Photography and Sarah Goodyear Art. The kitchen includes dishes, pots, pans, and utensils for cooking as well as salt, pepper, oil and basic spices. The cookware we provide is ceramic nonstick and toxin free. The kitchen also includes a microwave, coffee maker and a large toaster over for reheating your Pies and pints pizza! We will provide coffee for our guests enjoyment to help you to get your adventure started for the day!

We have fast Wi-Fi and a smart TV in the living room but no cable so you can watch free shows or sign in to your streaming account if you wish.

Each bed will have clean linens upon your arrival and clean towels in the bathroom closet.

For your comfort we have window air conditioners in each bedroom and in the living room. Please do not turn on the central air as the unit is older and does not run efficiently. Our home has been well loved and the finish on the floors has the rustic charm characteristic of older homes. If the trash is full, there is a trash bin outside by the pine tree you can use for disposal.

The Zen Box is a peaceful basecamp for all of your New River Gorge National Park adventures. Relax on your private parkside deck, wake up to bird song, and enjoy a canopy of stars in a night sky unimpeded by light pollution. The Zen Box has everything you need to explore all that the area has to offer, 3 minutes from town.

The space
Yes, it is a trailer, aka, regional culturally appropriate dwelling, aka, The Zen Box. The space is cozy, comfy, bright and surrounded by the Arrowhead Trails and the New River Gorge National River park. Walk or ride to the trails or the crag from the front porch.

Bikers, you can park the car for the duration of your stay and ride to town on single track to the great restaurants of Fayetteville. Arrowhead Bike Farm is a short bike ride away, at less than a mile from the house. The Arrowhead Trails come practically to the doorstep. Kayakers will find the location to be halfway between the put in and take out of the New River. Climbers will be able to walk to Kaymoor. Rafters, all of the rafting companies are within 6 miles of the property, town is 3 miles away via car. There is a grocery store 15 minutes away.

The ZB is a birdwatching haven! With varied habitat right on the property it is home to an abundance of birds including a nesting pair of red tailed hawks, and a thriving population of bard owls nearby.

The Zen Box has two peaceful bedrooms with comfy queen sized beds, fluffy towels, a well equipped kitchen, wireless internet, a fire ring, a small covered front porch, a private back deck, and plenty of peace and quiet. In summer months the night sky is alive with lightning bugs, late summer and fall, the ground, alight with glow bugs. Birders will love the abundant bird life.

There is a seasonal creek that is a short walk away, miles of trails at the border of the property. Since it is at the end of a dead end road, it is very peaceful and quiet. When I bought the place, this was a dilapidated trailer that became home to many kayakers, and rock climbers who were in the area because of the world class rivers and rocks. One of the climbers started calling the trailer the Zen Can, and the name stuck. The place was recently sided with wood, Can was no longer apt, now it's the Box. Most of the plants in front of the Box, and throughout the property are natives to help promote pollinators.

Who will not like this place? If you need to watch tv, you are out of luck. There isn't one. If you like glitz and glamor, you will find the Zen Box lacking. There is no turn down service or robes. If you want to be right in town, you will not want to book this spot. Being this close to the woods and nature, there are insects, so insectaphobes will not be stoked.

If you are wanting a place to party, please do not book the Zen Box. Peace and quiet are valued commodities at the property.

Guest access
You will have the tailer, ample parking and a big yard. The National Park is literally the closest neighbor. There is a trail that will get you to the Arrowhead Trails at the other end of the property.

Other things to note
There are two other homes on this property. One of the homes is mine. Please respect the privacy of the other residents.

There are two cats who live on the property. They are very friendly.

All dogs must be on leash while outside. If you are hiking in the park, leashes are required there as well.

Enjoy easy access to everything from this perfectly located home base. Just three miles from downtown, close to two major groceries and directly between the main adventure resorts, this two bedroom cottage is the perfect place for a small family or a a few friends to share for their vacation to the New River Gorge. The brand new kitchen and renovations have brightened up this 1930s cottage while still maintaining its charm and unique design.

The space
 This cottage is located only 3 miles from downtown and has been recently renovated while keeping its 1930s charm! Enjoy arched doorways, crown molding, beautiful wood trim and amazing artwork decorating the walls. There are two bedrooms, one with two twins, and one with a queen bed, a spacious kitchen with dining area, dedicated office space, living room, bathroom, and backyard with grill. The house has beautiful light and lots of plants to keep the air fresh and clean for you!

You will share the driveway with the studio (Cloud Nine) that sits upon the detached garage, but there is plenty of parking for two vehicles on the left side of the driveway. Full access to the house. There is no garage access.

You share the grounds with the guests above the garage but the two places are not connected via a wall and so there is a lot of privacy. Please be sure to park so that they can park on the right side of the driveway.

The owner closet in the center of house that has the mirror on it is locked.

Situated only 3 miles from downtown Fayetteville and within 15 min of trails, rivers, and climbing, this idyllic space makes you feel like you are in your own little ecotopia. The yurt is nestled on 8 acres surrounded by gardens and the forest. It is built eco-friendly complete with a composting toilet which is incredibly easy to use. Large windows are situated to allow natural sunlight and cross breezes and the dome in the center of the roof lets you sleep under the stars at night.

The space
The yurt feels like it is a lot bigger than it is. It sleeps two in the queen bed in the loft above and two in the full sized pull out sofa. Perfect for a couple, small family or a couple close friends. Note that the bathroom only has a curtain for privacy. There is another secluded outdoor, covered composting toilet overlooking the forest! Altogether, there is a lot of room outside to relax and play as well as a bonfire pit (must provide your own wood.)

We just got a new grill for the back deck. Please keep the grill away from the yurt and be sure to clean it after your use.

A new mini-split was installed in 2021, so air conditioning and heating is now available for year round comfort. The fireplace it is not able to be used due to insurance regulations. The dome, 2 windows and a sliding glass door open to allow great ventilation.

In May of 2022 the driveway was freshly paved. We have been looking forward to this moment for 16 years. Now that we own the 8 acres we have a private drive and a fresh driveway!

The WiFi is strong to power all your devices. Please note there is no TV however you can stream on your devices if you desire. Please enjoy the chairs on the back porch for forest watching:)

Things to note:
While we do have a cast iron tub the iron is cold and the hot water tank is only 40 gallons so if you take a bath it is not possible to fill the tub all the way up. I used to heat a pot of water on the stove to add when I took a bath!

Be aware that since the driveway is steep if we get snow you may want to park at the top of the hill and walk down. However, it is rare that we get a snow that heavy and it is a south facing drive so a light dusting melts quick.***

Guest access
You will have the whole yurt and grounds to yourselves, however we recently bought the 6 acres below and are in the process of cleaning them up so you may hear us going up and down the driveway at times as both pieces of property share access. Otherwise no one else shares this driveway.

Other things to note
The toilets are composting toilets. One is located inside the yurt, and there is one attached to the back of the little red shed outside. Very easy to use and do not have an odor. Be sure to use ample peat moss! They are cleaned with soap and water between uses, sprayed with disinfectant, and dried completely. Believe me, it’s cleaner than a normal toilet in the long run.

Stringent cleaning guidelines will be followed. Luckily this small space is easy to clean. All surfaces regularly touched by guests will be wiped down with disinfecting cleaner.

Please leave the yurt clean and close to how you found it. Clean all dishes well and do not move furniture please except to pull out the sofa and expand the table.

PLEASE NO BACON! I know this is a silly request but the bacon smell and grease has lasted for days before and is really hard to get the smell out and the grease up.

As far as smells, no smoking is allowed at all in the yurt or near the open doors. If we have to do excessive cleaning of curtains, throw pillows etc due to bacon or smoke you will be charger an extra $500 deep cleaning fee.

There is an orange hamper for you to put all your used towels and linens in. Please strip the bed of the sheets before you leave.
