Historical Zion Heritage Farm is a haven in wild, wonderful West Virginia. The second of two tiny farm houses, this unique two-story home was built with you in mind. It offers a full kitchen and bath, rocking chairs on the front porch, a spring-fed, stocked, pond with dock, and rows of apple trees to roam.
Located between Morgantown / Bridgeport, the farm is a great jumping off spot for hiking Cooper’s Rock Forest, Prickett Fort, rock climbing at the Gorge, kayaking, and miles of trails.
Zion Heritage Farm is a peaceful place - a genuine place - and I feel genuinely blessed not only to call it home, but to be able to share it with you.
When you step onto the porch, with its rocking chairs, fountain (in warm weather), and Edison-style twinkle lights, you will immediately feel the "homeyness" of the tiny farmhouse.
Inside, you'll find a full kitchen, washer & dryer, full bathroom (shower) and work desk. The space offers two bedrooms on the 2nd floor, with full-size beds; the rooms are "sleeping room only," and do not offer a sitting area.
You have access to most of the rest of the farm for wandering, contemplation and relaxing. In the spring you'll find the apple trees in bloom. In summer flowers bloom as apple fruitlets swell, and my honeybees tend the blossoms. Late summer and fall bring the fruit harvest, which includes apples, peaches, blueberries and pears. The orchard is "U-pick" and brings families with children to experience fresh air and honest food.
The Memorial Orchard in back of the tiny farmhouse is dedicated to the West Virginian service men and women who have died in combat in Iraq and Afghanistan since 9/11. There is a granite, memorial bench at the top of this orchard, which overlooks the entire farm, and is a beautiful spot for reflection. From time to time, "Goldstar" family members (those who have lost a loved one in war) visit the farm to see "their" tree.
One of my favorite places on the farm is the dock. I have a 1/4-acre, spring-fed pond, stocked with bluegill, bass, and other small game fish, which come when I call on summer evenings, and which is open to you for swimming and catch-and-release fishing. You will find me there on most evenings and are most welcome to join me for a glass of wine. For chilly evenings on the dock, you will enjoy the calm and charm of the wood pellet stove and a cup of cocoa.
You will have access to all parts of the property with the exception of the barn / workshop, and my personal yard and space, where accompaniment may be required. You may share the dock with myself or other guests on the farm.
I offer free use of my kayaks, corn hole game, and electric scooters while you're here. :)
This is a brand new home and the wifi (and therefore the TV) are NOT yet installed. High-speed Wifi installation is due on 5 September 2023. Good cell phone service in the area.

Just a 7 minute drive to Middletown Commons for even more options! 7 minutes the other way and you'll arrive at Fairmont State University. A great location with a nice view from the front or back porch! Cozy garden in the back.

Free parking on the weekends anywhere in fairmont or downtown .paid meter parking during the week. If your stay is long there is a free space in the back of the building .just ask where to park.

The space
We are thrilled that you are considering our home as your home away from home. The neighborhood is quiet and you will hear birds in the early morning during their season.
The patio area offers a nice cozy area to sit and relax for a bit.
Our driveway can accommodate three vehicles, as long as one vehicle can fit under a low car port attached to the garage.
Six guests maximum during your stay. Please don't invite visitors to the property to visit with you.
We are a NO smoking property. We don't allow smoking inside or outside of the property, this includes the patio area.

The whole entire home is available to you.
The street does not have street lights so it is very dark and quiet at night. We have solar powered sidewalk lighting, and a motion censored camera next to the kitchen door.
You will have access to a washer and dryer located across the patio/breezeway area.
