Mary couldn't have been nicer or more clear in all communications, the cabin was clean and warm and wonderful ... everything was there for everything we needed. Our 4 person family was more than comfortable, the fireplace was cozy, and even though it hit -0.6 degrees outside (!), we couldn't have been happier. The nearby ski lodge (Seven Springs) gave us a chance to watch skiers while drinking hot chocolate, and we even snow tubed. And to be able to see Falling Waters in the winter is a bucket list item crossed off. We would come back in a heartbeat - only the highest recommendations from us!"

Welcome to Scout Lane Lodging! There are two wonderful log cabins on the property. This description is for the main cabin which accomadates 10. Our beautiful home sits on 6 acres of land surrounded by woods. Roaring run which is considered a class A native trout stream flows right through the back yard. The cabin is completely stocked with anything you will need during your stay! This property is within walking distance to the ICV hiking and biking trail. Just a short drive to both Hidden Valley and Seven Springs resorts and PA's largest state park, Ohiopyle. Our newly renovated home sleeps up to 10 people. Features include: hot tub, outdoor fire pit, pellet stove, outdoor grill, central air, and radiant heated floors in the addition. This is a true one-of-kind experience to stay at this amazing 52-acre historic landmark organic farm nestled in the Laurel Mountains near Seven Springs Mountain resort, Hidden Valley, Ohiopyle State Park, Fallingwater and Ligonier.

This super cute and cozy one-room cabin has a full-sized sofa bed and a full-sized futon with a fully equipped kitchen and a small table and chairs, heat and AC, and a separate bathroom with a vanity and small shower. All newly renovated using reclaimed wood.

The farm property includes a huge pond for swimming and is adjacent to a 3000-acre state forest with the most incredible hiking trails. Just a few miles off of the turnpike you will surround yourself with the amazing feeling of living on a restored historic farm. Rent this incredibly lovely one-room plus one bathroom bunkhouse that is situated right next to the historic barn. The bunkhouse has been newly redone with a fully equipped kitchen and lovely bath. The pull-out sofa-bed sleeps two and the futon sleeps two very comfortably as you enjoy a relaxing night on this quiet farm.

The guests will have access to a beautiful 52-acre farm and a huge pond in the back as you enter the 3000 acre Forbes State Forest for amazing hiking and swimming.

We do not interact with the guests unless they need us, especially if they prefer to have privacy.

This farm is nestled in the Laurel Mountains and is surrounded by so many wonderful things to do. This area is a major tourist attraction but the cabin is very quiet and private.

You do need a car to get around in this area as there is no good public transportation.

Directions:
Take the Pennsylvania Turnpike to the Donegal/Ligonier exit. Turn left as you come off of the exit onto route 31. Stay on Route 31 for 3 miles and turn right onto Roaring Run Road (immediately past the VFW sign on your left). The farm is on your left as you come down the hill on Roaring Run. Tall pine trees line the driveway to the bunkhouse, farmhouse and springhouse.

The bunkhouse is to the right of the driveway next to the barn.

Parking:
Please park on the gravel areas only and pull to the left to avoid blocking other vehicles.

I often turn my phone on silent after 9:00 PM but if you need urgent assistance, our farm manager lives across the road in the white house and can be reached sometimes at (814) 521-5404

This is nestled in a quite neighborhood backed up against a 52-acre historic landmark organic farm. There is very little traffic and none of the usual tourist commotion for the area.

There is plenty of parking spaces next to the bunkhouse, as well as next to the barn. Please avoid driving on the grass.

Once for AC one evening and once for heat on our last morning. The property was awesome. W had a furry visitor one night.... Looked like a timber wolf mix. We saw two kitties running around as well. Walked and found the pond with the help from Janet,(sorry about the call, couldn't get into my email from the power outage, I did save your number) Being able to sit outside and have a fire (With chairs to boot! Thank you!!) made for a great option when one place we planned to go to was recently closed. (Google maps needs to play catch up. 😉) Over all great spot!"

We loved the sound of the stream in the back of the property. It's about a 30 minute drive to Fallingwater, Ohiopyle, and most water attractions. Our Bear Claw Chalet cabin near Seven Springs and Hidden Valley Resorts sleeps up to 7 persons and has 2 full bathrooms. This rustic log cabin chalet has one master bedroom with queen-sized bed and two lofts. One loft has 3 twin beds and the second loft has one full-sized bed. The second loft can also accommodate a full or queen sized air mattress if necessary. Bear Claw Chalet has a full kitchen stocked with pots, pans, plates, silverware, and cookware. Just bring your groceries or have us pick some up for you prior to your stay!

Authentic Mountain Chalet - Bear Claw is an authentic mountain cabin, not a condo dressed up to look like a cabin. The Bear Claw chalet was built entirely out of locally-sourced timber that features massive log beams and rough-cut interior. You will not find one ounce of drywall in this all-wood log home. The logs still have the bark on them!

Pet-Friendly - We are pet lovers! We welcome most breeds of dogs, a rarity here in the Laurel Highlands. We do have a few breed restrictions however since there are multiple cabins situated on our property.

Wildlife and Bird Watching - Bear Claw Chalet has a large bird feeder on the back wooden deck that attracts all sorts of birds from Blue-Jays, Cardinals, Woodpeckers and a variety of Finches. Deer plots are set up near the cabin that attracts White-Tail Deer as well as squirrels and an occasional grey fox or two.

Sauna, Hot Tub & Mountain Views! 🍂 Book your fall foliage getaway in the Laurel Highlands. This spacious, contemporary retreat is light-filled and designed for gathering in nature’s beauty. Every detail balances comfort with clean lines that frame expansive mountain views and deliver spa-like amenities. Start your morning with coffee in the sunroom, relax under the stars in the hot tub, recharge in the dedicated sauna, or unwind and meditate in the Zen room.

There are stores and trails within walking distance. However, being out in the countryside, a car is essential for most other trips as there are no public transit or ride-sharing services.

Our home is on Indian Creek Valley Road, which is a scenic byway leading down to Ohiopyle, so it is kept well-cleared in the winter. Unlike many other properties in the area, it remains accessible without 4-wheel drive in the winter months. We have screened the yard with large pines trees, but you will hear cars drive by when the windows are open.

We generally find the mountain air to be cool, especially overnight, but we do have central A/C in all parts of the house except the front addition that houses the media room/downstairs master bedroom.

Often the best way to maintain a comfortable temperature is to use the fans to bring the cool air in. Heat is, likewise, central in the main house and controlled room-by-room in the front.

We are in the country, so there are a fair number of critters who would love to make it inside. We have screens on all the windows and a regular pest control service.

- NOTE: Firewood is not provided at the property but can be purchased at several of the local stores near the property. If a larger quantity is desired, we can also provide a contact who will deliver by truck.
- Please consider trip insurance, which can assist you if you have an unanticipated difficulty with your trip.
- Let us know immediately if something is not as you expect, we want to make it right.
- Please be at least 25 years old to book, or contact us for additional deposit options.
- No smoking. By booking, you agree that there will be a $500 fee if the cleaning service finds evidence of smoking or vaping outside of provided bins outdoors.
- Do not discard cigarette butts or any other trash in the yard or inside the house. It is unpleasant for future guests if the snow melts to reveal trash we were unable to see to remediate.
- Pet friendly. We ask that you clean up in the yard and keep pets off the beds. We charge a $50 cleaning fee per pet.
- Events, parties and large non-family gatherings are prohibited without prior approval. This includes weddings, bachelorette and bachelor parties, and other similar events that may entail large groups and/or alcohol consumption. We absolutely want you to unwind and have fun. Most guests have been absolutely lovely about this, but sadly, there have been a few who have made poor choices and we need to ask you to guarantee this with a$500 fee up front. We will happily refund it completely, if you leave our house as you found it.
- In consideration of our neighbors, please be respectful of noise levels and and music outside. Please observe quiet hours from 10am-10pm.
- No food or glassware in/around the hot tub. Grass, leaves and mulch tracked in on your feet will burn out the heater, despite the filters. Please be cautious.
- Please bring supplies to remove make-up or use the black make-up towels we provide.
- Your cleaning fee covers laundry and cleaning all surfaces. We do ask guests to do their dishes and remove their trash to the dumpster at the end of the driveway. You agree to make prompt payment through the AirBnB/VRBO Resolution Center for damage to the property beyond normal wear and tear or cleaning beyond normal usage. Examples include trash such as bottle caps, cigarette butts or animal waste left on the property, remediation of spills or damage to linens or towels and damage to the house or furniture.
- Additional fees may be charged by your online booking service and taxes may apply. A delay in check-out without prior authorization may trigger a fee, as it can delay cleaning of not just this home, but other homes on the cleaners` schedule.

Our Luna Chalet cabin near Seven Springs and Hidden Valley Resorts sleeps up to 9 persons and has 2 full bathrooms. This rustic log cabin chalet has one master bedroom with queen-sized bed, two lofts and a sleeper sofa in the living area. One loft has 3 twin beds and the second loft has one full-sized bed. The second loft can also accommodate a full or queen sized air mattress if necessary. Luna Chalet has a full kitchen stocked with pots, pans, plates, silverware, and cookware. Just bring your groceries or have us pick some up for you prior to your stay!

This Chalet is located just 5 miles from both Seven Springs Mountain Resort and Hidden Valley Ski Areas. Why stay in a stuffy condo when you could experience a real-life mountain log cabin stay while visiting any of the area's attractions. Enjoy clean, crisp mountain air, spacious cabins secluded away from the hustle and bustle of the mountain. The Luna Chalet is perfect for a couple's getaway or family ski vacation.

Fireplaces! We have a real wood-burning fireplace fully stocked with firewood for your stay. Jack Claycomb was a master mason and hand built our massive fireplace to be the center focal point of the Luna mountain chalet.

Authentic Mountain Chalet - Luna is an authentic mountain cabin, not a condo dressed up to look like a cabin. The Luna chalet was built entirely out of locally-sourced timber that features massive log beams and rough-cut interior. You will not find one ounce of drywall in this all-wood log home. The logs still have the bark on them!

Pet-Friendly - We are pet lovers! We welcome most breeds of dogs, a rarity here in the Laurel Highlands. We do have a few breed restrictions however since there are multiple cabins situated on our property.

Wildlife and Bird Watching - Luna Chalet has a large bird feeder on the back wooden deck that attracts all sorts of birds from Blue-Jays, Cardinals, Woodpeckers and a variety of Finches. Deer plots are set up near the cabin that attracts White-Tail Deer as well as squirrels and an occasional grey fox or two.

Queen sized log bed, full kitchen and bath, laundry, fireplace, gravel driveway and parking. Pull out sofa is not recommended for adults (not a comfortable mattress), but it is there if you need a second bed.

Firewood: An adequate amount of dry firewood will be provided. Additional firewood can be requested for a charge of $10 per 8 logs. Nothing other than provided/purchased firewood may be burned in either the indoor fireplace or outdoor firepit.

No TV: Please note that the cabin is meant to be a retreat. There is a Verizon hotspot for WiFi. The hotspot is 5G and is usually reliable. However, we do not guarantee fast streaming for football games or movies, so if your heart is set on that, you may need an alternate plan and we are happy to recommend a couple of local pubs to watch that game!
