The airport can be reached in 20 minutes by using a car. 15 minutes away by food there is a very good beach (Aposelemi Beach). In May not crowded. - "The apartment was very clean with daily cleaning service. The area around had a bunch of shops and local cafes. The historical sites were at most a 10 min walk. There is a parking garage that is at most a 5 min walk and is next to a grocery store. I arrived earlier than planned and was able to get a room even though checkin was at 15. Highly recommend " - "Very comfortable room - the air conditioning was good. Shower had good pressure. Everything was very new and modern. Keyless entry (pin codes) made things easier. Only minor downside was the number of light switches - I think there were about 10 or 12 light switches for a relatively small space! Secondly the emergency exit light was really bright - bright blue and green. There is no way to ignore it when you are in bed, other than facing the other side. Very well located - it was quiet in the evenings, even though it is mere steps away from several very busy squares with bars and eateries. Minor construction noise starting in the morning. There is a huge balcony where you can sit and watch and listen to the waves. Renata has been the perfect host. She was very understanding and flexible during our covid challenges over the last two years, changing dates, duration, arrival time no problem at all. Renata stayed up very late to welcome us, and her communication throughout our stay has been great. The village is lovely if you are looking for a quiet beach holiday with great food options. If you are looking to explore the wider area (and it’s definitely worth getting up into the mountains) then a hire car is a must. I’m sure we will be back."

Air shuttle service from Athens: Aegean Airlines (Olympic) operate frequent daily flights between Athens and Heraklion.

Ferry boat from Piraeus port (Athens) to Heraklion: Daily high speed ferries to Heraklion operated by Anek/Blue Star and Minoan (about 9 hours travel time). They depart from Piraeus in the evening and reach Heraklion port at about 6 am.

Car rental: All major international car rental companies operate in Heraklion airport.
