- "The apartment was very clean with daily cleaning service. The area around had a bunch of shops and local cafes. The historical sites were at most a 10 min walk. There is a parking garage that is at most a 5 min walk and is next to a grocery store. I arrived earlier than planned and was able to get a room even though checkin was at 15. Highly recommend " - "Very comfortable room - the air conditioning was good. Shower had good pressure. Everything was very new and modern. Keyless entry (pin codes) made things easier. Only minor downside was the number of light switches - I think there were about 10 or 12 light switches for a relatively small space! Secondly the emergency exit light was really bright - bright blue and green. There is no way to ignore it when you are in bed, other than facing the other side. Very well located - it was quiet in the evenings, even though it is mere steps away from several very busy squares with bars and eateries. Minor construction noise starting in the morning. Ferry boat from Piraeus port (Athens) to Heraklion: Daily high speed ferries to Heraklion operated by Anek/Blue Star and Minoan (about 9 hours travel time). They depart from Piraeus in the evening and reach Heraklion port at about 6 am.

It’s worth noting that there’s no microwave, proper toaster, or actual oven, if you’re wanting to cook. Hop-on tourist bus stop right outside the apartment building. My only issues are that it’s a keypad to get into the building and your room (no reception or anything). You should receive this information in an email prior to your arrival but I never did (nor did I know that you needed this key-code). Luckily was able to call and get it over the phone. Was then told on the phone I’d receive the information in a text. Never received an email or a text from them. So make sure you get that code in advance. Also, there’s a pizza restaurant adjoined to the staircase / entrance of the flats. It’s a good restaurant and very convenient. But could get a bit noisy in the evenings if you had kids. "

In our detached house on the ground floor you can use this spacious apartment. It contains a bedroom with a double bed and lots of storage cupboards, an open sleeping area for 2 people, living room, large, well-equipped kitchen, spacious bathroom with washbasin, shower, toilet and washing machine, air conditioning (€ 10 per night), heating (€ 10 per night), covered terrace. . For the little ones there is also a baby cot and a high chair (free of charge). This apartment is very suitable for 1 couple or a family with 1 or 2 small children.
The swimming pool also has a children's pool (depth 40 cm). Around the pool are lovely terraces lined with oleanders, jasmine and a flower garden. There are plenty of sunbeds and sun loungers provided. Your car can be parked at the apartment.

Rita and Paul have been excellent hosts, friendly and generous. They gave us fresh eggs from their chickens for breakfast. The apartment is lovely and has everything you will need, although we didn't cook much as there is a very friendly taverna and lovely pizza place within a few minutes walk. The local village is a walk uphill, if you don't have a car, but it has a well stocked supermarket and plenty of coffee bars and tavernas. Bibas, the local taxi driver, is great for trips to nearby beaches. All the locals are very friendly. The AGIA PELAGIA sandy bay is about 2 Km away. It is protected from the north winds, and the sea is almost always calm.
AGIA PELAGIA village has developed around its shores, so that's where you'll find many of the tavernas and cafeterias. In the center of Agia Pelagia you will find a super market, tourism offices, pharmacy, an ATM, tourist and souvenir shops and the taxi stand.
There are many restaurants and tavernas featuring Cretan, Greek or international cuisine, and all have a beautiful view of the sea.
