The yard

area of Wanha School's yard has opportunities for a wide range of leisure activities, both adults and children.

In the winter, you'll have access to sleds and sliders, as well as some children's ski skis and boots.

Snowmobile trails are also easily accessible via Jouhilahdentie.

In the summer, you'll have access to a soccer field, a fairly sized fire pit, among other things. There is a dirt road 4km to mountain bike trails. There are bicycles for children, a climbing hut built into a tree, a slide, a sandbox, swings, and a cable car.

The location and surroundings

Wanha school is located on the side of Tahko's West Slopes, in a quiet location amidst the ridge landscapes shaped by the Ice Age. Tahkovuori ski resort is 6 km away, and the center of Tahkovuori is 14 km away.

For easy skiing from the

West Coat of Tahko, it's really convenient to go to the slope because it's always less crowded and the car can be parked right next to the ski lifts. You can also buy elevator tickets here. The famous Double Bar is also conveniently accessible by car from the West Lines side.

During the summer season, on the west side of Tahko, you'll find great hiking destinations, including the Mäkiaution Gorge and its landscaping, Rahasmäki leaning, and Huutavanholma. There is now a car road to the top of the panoramic restaurant in Tahko.

In the summer, Tahko offers a great setting for golfers, as well as a wide variety of activities, such as fishing, e-bike off-road, shooting, paintball, kayaking, berry picking and mushroom picking, and a spa. There are also stunning hiking terrain around the school with fridge ridge and soups.

The house is located in a picturesque place of Finnish country-side. The apartment is located on the 2nd floor and consists a sleeping zone with 4 sleeping places, a living-room with a spread sofa, a small kitchenette, an entrance and a toilet. There’s plenty of space for up to 20 people to enjoy meals together in the dining room. The space is decorated with earthy forest wallpapers. In addition to the large dining table, the room includes a sofa corner.

There is lots of room and workspace for a larger group to cook in Onnela’s spacious kitchen. There are versatile cooking utensils, a refrigerator, a freezer, an induction stove, a convection oven, a microwave oven, a dishwasher, and cutlery for 16 people.

The school's gymnasium - space for children to play

The children's favorite in Onnela is the school's original 70m2 sports hall, which offers lots of playing space for children and plenty of different toys and play equipment. While the children are playing in the hall, the adults also get a moment of their own time and peace.

On the ground floor, there’s the living room with a Smart TV and a large sofa, where you can relax after a hard day of sports. There is also a game area in the corridor for table games.

As a specialty, there’s a popular yoga hall/dojo with a tatami on the basement floor. The space can be used by all Wanha koulu residents daily from 6 am to 8 pm.

Log sauna in the yard

Onnela's customers can use the wood-heated yard sauna "Akansauna", which was completed in 2021. Onnela's sauna shift is daily from 19:00 to 21:00, or by agreement. Additional hours can also be rented. The sauna is heated by the guests. Heating up the sauna is a favorite activity together with the children, fetching water, and making a fire.

Onnela has air conditioning both upstairs and downstairs, free WiFi, and plenty of parking spaces, including 2 spaces for a block heater. (Not suitable for electric car charging.)

Location and surroundings

“Wanha koulu” old school is located on the Western slopes of Tahko, in a quiet location in the middle of ridge landscapes shaped by the ice age. It is 6 km to the Western slopes of the Tahkovuori ski center, and 14 km to the center of Tahkovuori.

Easy to ski from the western Slopes

It is really convenient to go to the slope from Tahko's Western side because there is always less traffic and you can park your car right next to the ski lifts. You can also buy lift tickets here. It’s also easy to go to the famous Pehkubar and Panorama bar directly by car from the Western side.

In the summer season, on the west side of Tahko, you can find wonderful hiking destinations, e.g. Mäkiautio gorge and its scenic ledge, Rahasmäki ledge, and Huutavanholma. Nowadays, a road leads to the Panorama restaurant at the top of Tahko.

In the summer, Tahko offers a wonderful setting for golfers, as well as many different activities, such as fishing, off-road electric cycling, shooting, paintball, kayaking, picking berries and mushrooms, and a spa. There are also wonderful hiking grounds around the school area with glacial ridges and valleys.

Yard area

In the winter, you can use sleds, as well as 2 pairs of snowshoes and some children's skis and equipment.

A traditional village ski trail (9km) starts from the yard. Snowmobile trails are also easily accessible from a road nearby.

In the summer, you can use e.g. a soccer field and a large campfire site. The mountain bike trails you access in 4km distance. For children, there are bicycles, a large trampoline, a wooden climbing hut, a slide, a sandbox, swings, and a cable car.

The Family Apartment is entirely reserved for its guests. The apartment has its own yard area with a hot tub (for an additional fee) and terrace furniture and a barbecue area in summer. On the ground floor, there's a yoga/dojo room available for all Wanha koulu quests daily between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m.

It is really convenient to go to the slopes from Tahko's Western side, as there is always less traffic and you can park your car right next to the ski lifts. You can also buy the tickets here. You can also get to the famous Pehkubar and Panorama bar directly by car from the Western side.

Yard area and the neighborhood

The area of Wanha koulu offers plenty of opportunities for leisure activities, both for adults and children.

In the winter, you can use sleds, as well as 2 pairs of snowshoes and some children's skis and equipment.

A traditional village ski trail (9km) starts from the yard. Snowmobile trails are also easily accessible from a road nearby.

In the summer, you can use e.g. a soccer field and a large campfire site. The mountain bike trails you access in 4km distance. For children, there are bicycles, a wooden climbing hut, a slide, a sandbox, swings, and a cable car.

In the summer, Tahko offers a wonderful environment for golfers, as well as for fishing, off-road electric cycling, shooting, paintball, kayaking, picking berries and mushrooms, and a spa. Also around the school, there are wonderful hiking grounds with glacial ridges and valleys.

“Wanha koulu Tahkovuori” is located on the Western slopes of Tahko, in a quiet location in the middle of ridge landscapes shaped by the ice age. It is 6 km to the Western slopes of the Tahkovuori ski center, and 14 km to the center of Tahkovuori.

The space
Same entrance from the outside. Guest rooms for living upstairs. 2 rooms in use. Upstairs a regular TV. WiFi is available. The host is downstairs. I use the shower upstairs when guests are in or by appointment in the sauna. Downstairs kitchen is shared and you can cook. There is a microwave, coffee maker, kettle, electric oven, toaster and dishes, as well as a dishwasher. Grilling on the backyard patio.

Upstairs, you have your own peace of mind. The shower room and sauna upstairs are also used by the host as agreed.

Common areas include the kitchen, living room, bathroom and sauna. There are two toilets, one of which you can use for yourself. Sheets and towels are provided by the house. The sheets are not ironed. I have a wonderful original wood sauna that you can heat if you want. There's also a fireplace upstairs. You'll also have access to the balcony and backyard. The space
The apartment is in an old terraced house and has its own windows. For example, there is a missing floorboard somewhere, the bathroom cannot be locked. There are few sockets, extension cords in front of it. The apartment has an open staircase, no security gate. The soul of the home is greater than the shortcomings! This is, above all, a Home. I live here with children who live in shifts for weeks. I only host when my children are not here. My home is 2 km from the city center, 2.5 km from Kys and 2.5 km from Puijo. Buses pass by the backyard. Within a radius of one kilometer, there is a Lidl and a K-market, and Irene Partanen's bakery is next door. Less than 0.5 km away is a playground and a small outdoor fitness area.

Spices for cooking are at your disposal. In the bedrooms, there are blackout curtains that are also side curtains. You can't get a completely dark room, but the light can peek a little from the edges or from below. The backyard trampoline is shared with the neighbors.
