The square can be reached in less than 5 minutes on foot and is equipped with all the necessary shops (food, newsstand, bakery, bar, etc ...). If you want to entertain the little ones at 10 minutes walk you will find a well-stocked playground and a small soccer field. The apartment is on the lower ground floor - a blessing because it is cool in hot weather and quiet - the road from Val Pusteria to Belluno passes through the village but traffic is not heavy. There is a wood stove for cold evenings. We found people friendly and appreciative of my patchy Italian. We could easily access plenty of Dolomite walks but the Tre Cime and Lago Di Braies were swarming with people and traffic was moving very slowly to the car parks so in hindsight they are to be avoided. It is definitely worth attempting to speak Italian as many people do not speak English. By the end of the 2 weeks we felt very much at home."
