Douglas Cottage is a grade II listed cottage within the City of Chester, designed by the renowned Architect John Douglas. Being of a fascinating fairytale gothic design it features sandstone faced walls with spires and turrets, an Architect’s dream.

This Grade II listed cottage on the edge of the Peak District offers comfortable living in an historic setting. It is joined to the main farmhouse, and is fully self contained.

Set within a 60 acre farm, on the outskirts of Bosley. it is within easy reach of the towns of Congleton, Macclesfield, Leek and Buxton. Alton Towers is 35 minutes away. Further afield the M6, Manchester and Manchester Airport are easily accessed.

Rose Cottage is situated in a court yard. Entering the property through the front door gives you private access. The property has been renovated keeping to a very high standard using a combination of reclaimed materials combined with mod cons delivering a very homely environment with character and convenience. The views are stunning and access to towns and cities are in easy reach.

Each property has its own dedicated parking space for one car they are clearly marked out with the name of the property in the parking area. PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN OTHER VISITORS SPACE

We do limit free parking to just one car per property to avoid congestion however extra parking is available at a daily cost of £10 per day or a weekly cost of £50, this is in our general car park area. THIS MUST BE BOOKED IN ADVANCE; you can arrange this after you have booked with Airbnb.

If you have visitor’s no more than one extra car per time and no more than 2 hours free parking is available in our general car park area. Please refrain from allowing your visitors to park in other dedicated parking space for other guest’s.

If you do not have a car getting around is easy we have lovely canal walks or river walks that take you to Frodsham, Northwich or Warrington.
The closest Taxi service is Frodsham 4.8 miles the cost of a Taxi is between £7 and £10. Frodsham has its own train station that can then link you to the surrounding Cities and towns.

Car rental is available with a free drop off and collection service.

Other things to note
We have electric gates on the entrance which you will be given the gate code when you book. The Gates auto detect vehicles leaving and open alternatively there is a button to exit for pedestrians.

CCTV cameras are on the gates and on the car park areas.

We want you to be safe during your stay and the cottage is equipped with smoke detectors, a first aid kit and fire extinguisher. Please check the info folder on arrival to make yourself familiar with their locations.

A laundry is just 15 meters away from the cottage where washing machines, dryers Ironing board etc. are all available.

Internet wifi from our ADSL line is FREE and unlimited and is ok for basic on line activity. For those wanting more band width we also do have boosted 4G internet routers available which operate on a data sim card. There is no rental charge on the hard ware but you will be responsible for maintaining the data cost. The monthly cost of unlimited data is £35. Please advise us prior to arrival if you require the boosted 4G system so we can set up ready for you.

Just to let you know we have two Labradors, they too have their own house and garden all secured. They are very friendly and very fond of treats. but please do not feed them as they are on a permanent diet.

Delivery from supermarkets is possible, so if you wish to order most of the supermarkets that do delivery will deliver to Hill Farm.

Lovely stone-built two bedroom cottage in converted barn and piggery, on a 20 acre farm overlooking Shutlingsloe. The farmhouse and cottage were renovated in 2019, but the cottage retains a rustic charm - stone built and with a stone roof, and some barn features. Walks to Shutlingsloe, Grandbach Mill, Lud's Church, the Cat and Fiddle, and Three Shire Head can all be accessed from the farm, as can the local pub and Blaze Farm for ice cream (challenging walks, includes some walking on road).

The space
The cottage has a living room, kitchen (with dining space), one main bedroom and a small second bedroom, and a bathroom. The bedrooms and bathroom are in an old piggery, and there is reduced ceiling heights in all three rooms. The cottage is right next to the farmhouse; both are accessible from the farmyard, where parking is available. The farmyard is accessed via a track up from the Buxton Road. This track is steep and narrow, with a sharp turning. In snowy or icy conditions, a 4x4 will definitely be needed.

Pets are not allowed in the cottage. However, I have two large and friendly dogs and a cat. Please be aware that the dogs like to play in the garden and may well want to say hello to you.

There is little/no phone signal in the cottage. The WiFi is via 4g mobile and gets about 3bps, and can sometimes be erratic.

Guests will have sole access to the cottage. There is a small outside dining area that guests may also use which has great morning light (close to a greenhouse and access to fields).

I have two dogs. Ten year old Hector, and two year old Hera. Both are Golden Retrievers, and are very people-orientated. Hera is very energetic.

The Annex, Stanley House is a charming newly refurbished one bedroomed cottage on Wrenburys village green, offering the perfect opportunity to relax and unwind in this delightful setting. The village store, cafe and pubs are a stone throws away as is the Llangollen canal. The village is included in The Times 50 best villages in the UK.

Nantwich, Chester and Whitchurch are all short drives away, and there are plenty of attractions, walks and cycling opportunities to keep you entertained.

The Annex has been recently refurbished to a high standard, with new kitchen equipment, including a Nespresso coffee maker, cooker/hob and fridge/freezer.

The lounge has a coal fire effect electric fire, and a new smart TV . There is a sofa bed if required (please let us know if you would like to use this.) There is a good Wi-Fi network at the property.

The bedroom has a memory foam mattress, iron and ironing board. The bathroom has a bath and hand held shower attachment.

There is a small sunny courtyard with table and chairs which you can store any bikes in if needed.

Access to the property is through the rear courtyard behind the black gate on the right-hand side of the property. There is a key storage safe mounted on the wall to the right of the back door in the courtyard. The keycode will be sent to you before you arrive.

Off-street parking is available directly outside the property.

All three bedrooms are bright and airy and have good quality mattresses with soft white bedding. The single bedroom can accommodate a travel cot.

The bathroom with shower has eco-friendly hand soap and shower gel provided along with a bath towel and hand towel per guest.

The dining kitchen is very well equipped with dishwasher, microwave, oven, hob, Nespresso coffee machine plus a washing machine and an air fryer.
Tea, coffee & sugar along with a pint of milk in a glass bottle and fresh free range eggs can be found in the fridge on arrival.
The farmhouse style dining table has five comfortable chairs to while away the evenings over dinner.

We try to reduce our carbon footprint wherever we can here- all heating for the farm is provided by eco-friendly bio-mass boilers and we also have solar panels. We use environmentally friendly products to clean the cottage throughout.

Wifi is available however we are not yet connected to fibre broadband in this area but speeds are reasonable.
