- "Great quite place very close to the beach " - "My family and I were SO very excited to find out that this home was EXACTLY as described. Dale and Vicki were very easy to get a hold of and flexible with our needs. Jut a few things to know - You WILL need a 4 wheel drive vehicle to access this property as it is about 30 minutes beach driving to and from the main road, and drivers MUST lower their tire pressures when driving on the beach. Not only is this a county ordinance, it will save you from getting stuck (luckily it didn't happen to us!) Anyway, back to the house - it is very quiet and even though not directly on the beach you can still hear and see the ocean from the upper deck. During our visit, we had several visits from "the locals". Frogs were on the lower door greeting us each evening when we returned and on the upper deck in the mornings. One afternoon we were so excited to see a small haram of horses in the back and side yard. They stayed most of the afternoon. You can not go wrong with his home! We will definitely be returning next year!"

- "The property was perfect for our family of 5 and our pup. It had everything you could need in the kitchen and was very clean all around. The hot tub was a plus in the evenings. There were horses on the property nearly every day which was incredible! We parked our car on the beach every day with the provided passes. Bring whatever food you may need unless you have a true 4WD vehicle and have no problem with a 30 min drive on the beach (GPS can lead you onto some softer sand, don’t listen to it once you get to the beach access road, stay straight for 8 miles). Deliveries to this area will come with a typical $100 delivery fee. You can get ice and tshirts at the nearby firehouse. We also found a few ticks which are common in OBX so make sure to check after walking around. Overall great memories made and we will definitely look to come back and rent with this owner again. He was always responsive and very helpful."

While driving up the pristine beach from the end of the paved road in Corolla, you will begin to feel the invigorating sea air and see pelicans, seagulls and the ubiquitous petite sandpipers on the run. Drive over the dune into Carova Beach, where all the roads are sand. When you turn into my driveway for 'Sea-Ya-Round', in Carova Beach you may be surprised to see wild horses there to greet you. Some of the mares may have their cute foals with them. The house which is located in Carova Beach is about eight and a half miles up the beach from the end of the paved highway, Route 12 in Corolla, and is accessible by four wheel drive only.

When you first enter 'Sea-Ya-Round', you will immediately relax and feel the uniqueness of this round house nestled in the dunes. There are two bedrooms on the lower level with a large full bathroom. One bedroom has a queen bed and the other has two twin beds. Large windows give wonderful views of the wild horses which meander around to the house almost everyday.

On the main level you will find a king bedroom and another large bathroom with a top-of-the-line washer/dryer. Also on the main level is your fully-equipped kitchen with an island wet bar and a dining area. You can relax and watch high definition television in both the family room and master king bedroom. You will also find a selection of DVD movies and a collection of books.

A stroll out the five foot wide runway to the elevated gazebo, with a new addition of 175 square feet of decking attached to the gazebo, will show you why you chose to have your vacation at 'Sea-Ya-Round' in Carova Beach. You will see spectacular views up and down the beach, feel the cool breezes and witness the wonders of the pelicans' flight as they glide by at your eye level. Suddenly, all the stresses of your life will disappear! Take a glass of wine and watch and savor the views for hours from the gazebo or the new decking. In the evening have your dinner in the gazebo, or on the deck and enjoy the spectacular blazing sunsets.

You will want to spend the night in the gazebo!

Awake to the wild mustangs having their morning fill of sea oats, so why not join them for breakfast in the gazebo? You can enjoy the glistening morning surf, and watch the ocean with its abundance of sea life frolicking in the morning lull. The views will be mesmerizing as you sip your morning coffee.

Direct access to Carova Beach is reached by steps from the gazebo down to the beach. Your cares will vanish while strolling along the beach perhaps looking for unusual shells or other treasures from the sea. End your day relaxing in the round hot tub. Turn off all the lights so you may take in the beautiful night skies with shooting stars. All this and more is yours while you are staying in beautiful Carova Beach and 'Sea Ya Round'.

There are many other things to do while staying in Carova Beach such as taking a hike in the False Cape State Park. This is located about 1.5 miles north of the house.

The park kiosk has a flier that will show you where walking trails are located throughout the park. There is a pristine, undisturbed beach where only nature abounds. Surf fishing is always a fun thing to do, and who knows, you may catch fresh fish for your dinner. While you fish, you can watch the seagulls and pelicans fish for their dinner. A fishing permit is required.

If you have the desire to go off the beach to the south, you will find many wonderful restaurants with all types of cuisine. Visit the shops in Corolla and Timbuck II shopping area, and don't forget to tour the restored Whale Head Club, the Currituck Lighthouse and finally the new (FREE) Wildlife Museum, which are all located together in Corolla. Driving further south will offer more to see - such as the Wright National Memorial Park where flight began in 1903, and the North Carolina Aquarium in Manteo.

But, the best place to be is at 'Sea Ya Round' in Carova Beach!

- "Sea Ya Round is the perfect place to enjoy nature at its best! The location is second to none! We were there to celebrate my husband’s 70th birthday, with my sister and brother in law. The set up of the house is perfect and has everything you need to enjoy your vacation. Just bring your groceries and relax! We woke up on our first day to the magnificent wild horses (5 of them) right on the dune near the gazebo. We saw them everyday whether they were in the yard, on the beach or on the road when we walked around. We also saw dolphins right out in front of us, a sea turtle, an eagle enjoying a fresh fish and deer paid us a visit. The house is also a 2 mile walk to the Virginia line. - "Great location for nice relaxing stay! House was very clean and comfortable. Good outside spots too! We used the screened porch the most to catch the breeze. We saw horses everyday and dolphins in the ocean in the morning and evenings - it was a great treat! One thing I would do for next time would be to make sure to have food for the first night and next morning before arriving to the house after a long day of travel to avoid having to go out on the beach road again the first night we got there. Hope we can visit again soon!"

We are less than a two-minute walk over the dune to the beach, approx. 100 yds using our easement. Enjoy spectacular sunrises and sunsets from our great room. Great ocean views throughout the house.

- "This house is even better in person. The woodwork throughout the house, nice furnishings, and art made it feel extra luxury. It is quite clear that the owners love it and maintain it well. Great views from the deck , the kids loved the big pool, and it was fun to see horses amble through the property. To get to the beach we walked through a vacant lot and over the dunes, or drove our truck out. The beach was busier than I anticipated with traffic , and making sure the little ones in our group didn’t walk out in front of a car every time they wanted to get a bucket of water was a little unnerving. The beach is great for boogie boarding. Owner communication was plentiful and prompt, and when we had a mishap with the storm blowing the hot tub cover off and breaking a pipe there was help out immediately. I will say all owner communication, even the welcome letter, had an air of disdain and annoyance to it. The owner texted asking why the hot tub cover wasn’t latched down (it wasn’t latched when we arrived at the house, I wasn’t aware it needed to be) and to “use common sense,”a phrase also echoed in the welcome letter. I try to put myself in their shoes renting out a house they are quite attached to, and I’m sure it IS annoying. I probably wouldn’t want to do it! But the house is great, and we had a great time!"

What fun to use the outdoor telescope in this lovely semi-oceanfront (2nd row) home, situated in a very quiet section of the 4x4 beach. Located just 7 miles north of the end of the hard road and nestled between two wildlife preserves, your shoulders will drop as soon as you pull in. The serenity on this part of the beach is amazing. Watch the breakers from the nicely stocked kitchen in this reverse floor plan home. You may even see some brown pelicans fly by as you sip your coffee. Spend your morning on the screened in porch watching the wild horses. You may also spot foxes, bunnies, deer or black hogs. (They are here but are elusive!) Wildlife abounds on the beach as well with all kinds of bird and fish, shellfish and mollusks. Shelling is a favorite pastime, not to mention fishing and swimming. Leashed pets are allowed on the beach so you can bring your dog and enjoy the day. Setting up is easy since you will be able to take your gear to the beach in your car. You can even park on the beach and use it as a base of operation. Two beach parking passes are provided for guest use... so no extra expense with our homes!! Forgot something? … no worries, since the house is just steps away.

Everything is better at the beach, including sleeping! Two of the three bedrooms have memory foam queen beds, flat screen smart tv’s and private access to the second level deck. The third bedroom has a flat screen smart tv and a duo-bunk bed (double bed lower and twin bed upper, also memory foam). This home has plenty of room for a small family, but will also suit for a couple who just need to get away from it all.

- "House is small but very clean, 12 foot ceilings, Lots of windows, big deck. Those added lots of open airy feelings for us. The wild horses are in the yard daily. Fantastic sunrises and subsets! We were also able to see the Milky Way! Simply breathtaking!" - "If you are looking for relaxing this is the peaceful place to do it. A few words of advice if you have never been. Watch the Corolla beach video on how to drive on beach. Going out at night is not recommended. The kitchen was stocked with the right amount of cooking equipment. Charcoal grill (bring your own) and do enough food shopping for the week or at least three days. The horses were in the yard. Magnificent. But one day we had to wait a while yo get into house because a stallion was at the car door so we went back to sit on beach. This land belongs to these horses and you need to respect these wild animals. House was perfect for a couple. Bring a kite too and fishing poles for surf casting. Cant wait to come back."

Completed in 2019 and only recently shared as a rental, this beach cottage is the perfect family getaway! It's located at milepost 22.5 in the 4x4 area of Carova Beach (4x4 VEHICLE IS REQUIRED) just a couple minute walk from the beach.
The house has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and can sleep a maximum of 7 people but is best suited for 5 or less. There is a queen bed in the master bedroom and bunk beds with a trundle in the other bedroom. The couch in the living room can convert to a queen bed if you need extra space. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need and has seating for 4 people around the island. A full bathroom with sliding barn door completes the main level of the home.
Outside on the large covered deck is a swing and lounge area on one side with a table and charcoal grill on the other. On the ground level there is an outdoor shower and a comfy hammock to relax in. There is a storage room with an additional half bathroom and washer and dryer. To complete the outside and guaranteed to be a hit with the kids is a tree house, swing, and a zip line to stay busy for hours when you're not at the beach!

There is no internet, cable, or phone at the house. Antenna tv is included as well as a blueray player and assortment of movies, games, and puzzles. Shellnanigans is best suited for families with young children.

***The water issues have been fixed! A new Kinetico system was just installed and it has cleared up the water. There is still a UV light for added safety so the water is clear, safe, and drinkable.***

Wild horses roam the area as well as fox, deer, and lots of waterfowl on the sound.

Beach Parking Passes are required to park on the beach from the last Saturday in April through the first Saturday in October. You do not need a pass to drive on the beach or park at the home. Two 4x4 parking passes are included with each 4x4 vacation home with a $50 cash deposit (refunded when passes are returned). It was our first time to the OBX, and the seclusion did come with some difficulties (mainly weather-related), so definitely do your research if you're headed here. Milk 'n Honey is a beautiful new coastal home tastefully furnished, private, and conveniently located a short walk to the canal and the Ocean. There are no paved roads, only sandy trails to explore, sun to soak up, sand to sink your toes and tires in, and solace.

The space
This is a beautiful newly built, spacious, coastal home.

There are 4 bedrooms, 3 full baths, and a half bath.

The Main bedroom is located on the 2nd floor off of the living room, and front balcony. It connects to a private full bath, double sink area with a walk in closet space.

The Living room provides a comfortable area to watch TV with reclining furniture and windows all around to enjoy the sunlight. There is a balcony off of the living room area too.

The dining room, and kitchen area are spacious and offers additional counter space and seating at the bar. Off of the kitchen is another balcony on one end and the laundry room/half bath on the other end. There is a pantry for food storage. All appliances and kitchen essentials are new. A coffee pot and single pod coffee machine is available along with refillable pods. All you need is ground coffee.

The beautiful blue stained stairway leads to the 1st floor which consists of the 3 additional bedrooms, game room, and 2 Full Baths.

The 2nd bedroom and 3rd bedroom share a jack and jill style bathroom area. The shower and toilet have a door, and there is a double sink counter outside. Then each bedroom has it's own access door to the bathroom. Bedroom 2 has a queen bed and faces the front of the house, bedroom 3 is the kids bedroom with a daybed, and bunkbed, with a balcony. Bedroom 4 has its own balcony door too and a queen bed. Outside of bedroom 4 is a full bath. All bedrooms have dressers except for the kids bedroom (3). All bedrooms on the 1st floor have a closet.

The game room is located on the 1st floor is the room that you come into when entering the home. It has a foosball table, wet bar, and built in cooler.

The pool and hot tub area are locked and secure. Please watch your children and be responsible around all water areas. There is a propane grill available for outdoor cooking.

Guest access
Keypad on the main door of the home. The code will be randomly generated and sent. This code will only be available during your designated check in time.

Other things to note
The pool is open mid-April through mid-October.

The space
The property is on 10 acres. Rocky's Recluse is approximately 450 SF.

We are in nature. There are birds, bugs, snakes in the wild…..

We are in the off road—there are no paved roads-so you have to drive on the beach to get to the house. We are 7.5 miles from the paved road. 4x4 vehicle is necessary to access the property.

Beach parking permit provided for your stay.

Guest access
The pool and hottub are next to the main house and can be seen in the photo of the property. We share that with you and try to establish times when you can use it privately, and same here.

We also will let you use the pool house that has an oven and stove so you can cook a nice meal as the cabin is set up with a kitchenette. And of course we have an outdoor grill

If it is working, you are free to grab some ice from our ice machine

Your cabin has a king size bed, TV, nice shower, loveseat, refrigerator, microwave, mini oven.

Property is 10 acres with SHARED hottub, pool (may-sept)--we can coordinate times so you can have privacy and us too. Access to SHARED outdoor grill and a full stove and oven in SHARED pool house available.

Other things to note
We are in the offroad which does not have road access. You have to drive on the beach to get to the home. There are sand roads behind the dunes, but they do not connect to the main road. We are several miles up the beach. Happy to give pointers and help you out if it is your first time on the sand. 4x4 vehicle is required. a AWD can work, if the tires are aired down and you have good clearance.

We ask you sign a contract upon arrival (or I can send via email prior). Here are the terms. These are the rental contract terms and a signed contract is required upon arrival (or before If I can figure out how to attach it!)

Vacation Rental Agreement
The Shack at Hidden Oak Estate
1. This Short Term Rental Agreement (the “Agreement”) is made by and between owner of Hidden Oak Estate and The Shack (“Owner”), its property management firm Lynx International Ltd. (“Agent”) and _________ (name) of __________(address) verified through the Airbnb platform (“Tenant”, used interchangeably with “You” and “Your”) as of the date last set forth on the signature page of this Agreement. For good and valuable consideration, the sufficiency of which is acknowledged, the parties hereby agree as follows.
2. Owner hereby rents to You (e.g. tenant) and You (e.g. tenant) hereby rent from Owner, the Premises in accordance with the terms and conditions contained in this Agreement, including, but not limited to, the time period during which You are entitled to use the Premises, check-in and check-out times, payment of the rental amount and other fees, and all rental rules including attachments. In the event that any term of this Agreement varies from any term set forth in the Shack platform pages (including, but not limited to, the rental amount) or other correspondence, the terms specified in this Agreement shall govern absent written confirmation of a change.
3. Property: The property is located at 406 Bratten Way, Corolla, North Carolina—the Property is located in the 4WD area and access requires a 4WD vehicle. The property includes a main house and the Shack. The owner, its family and guests may be at the main house during your stay. The Shack is a furnished studio that includes a King bed, TV, loveseat, bath and kitchenette with a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and small “oven”. The Shack is in the forest and as such it does not have a full kitchen due to fire risk, in addition smoking is not allowed nor open flames. The tenant can use the main house grill and may make arrangements with the owner if additional requests can be met. The property comes with bedding, two sets of towels (including a bath towel, hand towel, and face cloth, dish towel, glasses/silverware/plates, etc. For short stays (3 nights or less) toilet paper, paper towels, are included. Beach towels and personal care products are not provided. The property includes a pool that can be used by tenant and guest upon the condition that they assume all responsibility and hold the owner and property management harmless for any injury at the pool or hottub. The owner requests that the tenant and guest text owner when they are heading to the pool or would like to use the pool text or call my number so that as much privacy can be offered to both. There may be times with the tenant and guest both are using the pool at the same time as the owner and guests.

4. Rental Party: The rental party shall consist of Taylor Bloom and guest. All members of the rental party and guest of the tenant shall follow the terms of this agreement, to include the rental rules (attachment A) and signs placed at the property (such as by the swimming pool) all of which are an integral part of this agreement. All guests of the tenant staying in the property will be asked to sign the attachment rental rules upon arrival.

5. Maximum Occupancy: The maximum number of guests is limited to 2 persons.
6. CHECK-IN/CHECK-OUT: You agree that check-in time is no earlier than 4:00 PM on _________(date) no earlier than 4PM (unless prior arrangements have been made and agreed to in writing) and check-out time is no later than 10AM on __________(date). Agent will use commercially reasonable efforts to have the Premises ready for Your occupancy at check-in time, but Agent cannot guarantee the exact time of occupancy. In the event You return to the Premises without the consent of the Agent after turning in the keys and checking out, a fee equal to the rental rate for one (1) day will be assessed to You.
 
7. Rental Rate and Fees. The rental fees are paid to Airbnb or VRBO. These services take out a service fee and handle all taxes and payments of taxes and reporting to the authorities. Tenant agrees to pay for any damages to the property that are due to the tenant or tenant’s guests.


8. IMPORTANT DISCLOSURES: (a) The premises has a private well. Homes with private wells occasionally experience low pressure, salty, distasteful or discolored water. There may be an unpleasant odor of sulfur. Some guests choose to use bottled water for drinking purposes even though the water is potable. (b) Occasionally, some pools in Dare & Currituck Counties may experience a mild ground current. Generally, this is not caused by a pool defect or the household electrical system, but appears as a result of the earth’s own natural electrical current. The current tends to be intermittent in nature. Please be advised, however, that this may affect the operation of pace makers and other similar devices; (c) Due to the possibility of accident or injury, Agent and owner prohibits children from using the hot tub. Also, the chemicals used to keep hot tubs sanitary may cause fading in some swimsuits and some individuals may experience mild skin rashes. For your safety, chemical dispensers shall not be removed at anytime; (d) The home is located on a 10 acre lot with adjacent 10 acre lots—the grounds are wooded and have various natural features---wetlands, mud, puddles (especially with rain and the location of these puddles varies), and various wild plants (including poison oak). Agent discloses that there may be snakes, including poisonous snakes, wild horses, wild feral pigs, ticks, and other wild animals. These animals can be dangerous. Children should not be left to roam the property without adult supervision. If doors are left open these animals may enter the property. If you decide to explore the grounds you do so at your own risk and will hold harmless Agent and owner. You will also hold harmless agent and owner if an animal gains entry into the property; (e) the swimming pool does not have a diving end and diving and horseplay are prohibited. There are no lifeguards and swimming or use of the pool and pool area is at your own risk. Additional pool rules are posted by the pool—children should not be unattended in the swimming pool at any time; (f) the Currituck Wild Horses roam the property often walking down the driveway and graze on the grass beside the home. The Wild Horses are protected by ordinances in the county—and are the State Horse of North Carolina. Rules and regulations concerning the Wild Horses will be part of the information package provided to You. Please do not feed the horses, attempt to pet the horses, or try to approach the wild horses. They can be dangerous, especially to children; (g) The property is treated by Outer Banks Pest Control on a quarterly basis. Please be advised that leaving the windows or doors open will invite in a significant amount of bugs. Agent is not responsible for controlling the bugs that might be let into the premise by your actions. Please also keep the garage door closed, to ensure that bugs and wild animals do not enter the home. (h) Dogs and cats are not allowed in the home, pool house, or garage; (i) the home is accessible only by 4WD vehicle. All cars are required to drive on the beach to access the home—there are no roads behind the dunes that enable you to drive from the paved road to the house. Rules on beach driving are covered by Currituck County Ordinances, and are provided in the information package. The tides change as does the beach on a daily basis. A tide chart is in the home and should be consulted on the best times to go up and down the beach. At times of high tide or storms, the beach can be impassable. (j) since the Shack is in the woods, smoking on the decks is prohibited. Open flames are also prohibited and the grill provided on the cement may be used by guests.
9. Use and Tenant Duties. The use of the Premises is restricted to use by You and Your family, unless both parties agree in writing to occupancy by a non-family group or for a special event. Agent considers You hosting a special event without Agent’s prior consent or knowledge a material breach of this Agreement. In that instance, You agree to immediately pay an amount equal to the Special Event Fee in liquidated damages. You should contact Agent directly for more information. A “family” as used herein means parents, grandparents, children and extended family members vacationing at the Premises. Use Of the Premises by Fraternities, Sororities or Unrelated Groups Under 24 Years of Age Is Strictly Prohibited and Lessee agrees that, in the event Owner or Agent discovers same, that ANY AND ALL FUNDS COLLECTED AS RENT will be considered LIQUIDATED DAMAGES to cover losses, expenses and damages of the Owner and Agent for Lessee taking the premises off the market. Occupancy shall not exceed the maximum number allowable by law. You agree to comply with all obligations imposed on you by the Vacation Rental Act with respect to maintenance of the Premises, including but not limited to, the following: (a) keep the Premises as clean and safe as the conditions of the Premises permit, and cause no unsafe or unsanitary conditions in the common areas and remainder of the Premises that You use; (b) dispose of all ashes, rubbish, garbage, and other waste in a clean and safe manner; (c) keep all plumbing fixtures in the Premises or used by the Tenant as clean as their condition permits; (d) not deliberately or negligently destroy, deface, damage, or remove any part of the Premises or render inoperable the smoke detector provided by the Owner, or knowingly permit any person to do so; (e) comply with all obligations imposed upon the Tenant by current applicable building and housing codes; (f) be responsible for all damage, defacement, or removal of any property inside the Premises that is in Your exclusive control unless the damage, defacement, or removal was due to ordinary wear and tear, acts of the Owner or Owner’s agent, defective products supplied or repairs authorized by the Owner, acts of third parties not invitees of the Tenant, or natural forces; (g) not move any of the furniture in the home; and (h) notify Agent in writing of the need of replacement of and/or repairs to a smoke detector, and replacing the batteries as needed during the tenancy. You agree not to use the Premises for any activity or purpose that violates any criminal law or governmental regulation. Your breach of any duty contained in this paragraph after commencement of tenancy shall be considered material, and shall result in the termination of Your tenancy with NO REFUND OF RENT.
10. Agent Duties. Agent agrees to provide the Premises to You in a fit and habitable condition. If, at the time of occupancy, Agent cannot provide the Premises in a fit and habitable condition or reasonably cure same or substitute a reasonably comparable property in such condition, then Agent shall refund to You all payments made by You. In the case of a cure wherein the Premises sustains a failure of a system or amenity, manner, (at the time of or during the tenancy) including, but not limited to, water, sewer, septic, heating, electrical, mechanical, ventilating, structural systems, pool, hot tub, whirlpool tub, entertainment equipment, Internet or Internet access or other facilities or major appliances, Agent shall promptly repair in a commercially reasonable manner and time such system or amenity upon receipt of written notification from You that repairs are needed. You agree to permit Agent or its service staff to have reasonable access to the Premises to inspect and make such repair in a commercially reasonable manner and time. Neither Owner nor Agent shall be liable to You in damages and no refunds will be given for such temporary failure, provided the Agent is causing the system or amenity to be repaired in a commercially reasonable manner after having received written notification from You that repairs are needed. If the repair is not possible, Agent may offer you alternative lodging.
11 Acts of God/Construction Noise. Neither Owner nor Agent shall be liable for events beyond their control which may interfere with Your scheduled occupancy, including but not limited to Acts of God, acts of governmental agencies, fire, strikes, terrorism, war, inclement weather, including flooding and construction noise from nearby sites. Please be advised that at times of high wind and high tide, the beach can be impassable. A tide chart is located at the home and you should pay attention to the tides in order to be able to use the beach as the main road to and from the home. NO REBATE OR REFUND will be offered in these circumstances.
12. Insurance/Mandatory Evacuation. You may elect to purchase a policy for Travel Insurance, the selection of which is totally your decision. Subject to the terms, conditions and limitations contained in the policy, policies can provide insurance for trip cancellation, trip interruption and trip delay, emergency medical, baggage delay and loss, car rental collision coverage and assistance services.. Please note that the terms of the policy define the coverage. This Agreement is not intended to serve as a substitute for the policy or to define any of the policy terms or provisions. If State or local authorities order a mandatory evacuation of an area that includes the Premises, You shall comply with the order and a travel insurance policy can cover you in these instances. All questions concerning claims should be directed to the travel insurance company. You will not be entitled to a refund from Agent or Owner. Possible travel insurance options will be provided to Tenant upon request to the owner. This will be a courtesy to You by the Agent and owner, and does not represent any responsibility on the part of the Agent for the policy.
13. Expedited Eviction. A material breach of this Agreement by You, which, in the sole determination of the Agent, results in damage to the Premises, personal injury to You or others, a breach of the peace, a nuisance to others, or a violation of criminal law or local code, shall be grounds for termination of Your tenancy. If the tenancy created hereunder is for 30 days or less, the expedited eviction procedures set forth in the Vacation Rental Act will apply. You may be evicted under such procedures if You: (i) hold over in possession after Your tenancy has expired; (ii) commit a material breach of any provision of this Agreement that according to its terms would result in the termination of Your tenancy; (iii) fail to pay rent as required by this Agreement, or (iv) have obtained possession of the Premises by fraud or misrepresentation.
14. Indemnification and Hold Harmless. You agree to indemnify and save harmless the Owner and Agent for any liabilities, theft, damage, cost or expense whatsoever arising from or related to any claim or litigation which may arise out of or in connection with Your use and occupancy of the Premises including but not limited to any claim or liability for personal injury or damage or theft of property which is made, incurred or sustained by You. Neither Agent nor Owner is providing any other warranty of any kind, except as otherwise expressly provided herein, whether written or oral, statutory or contractual, express or implied, including, without limitation, THE WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR USE, which are hereby expressly excluded. The terms “Agent” and “Owner” as used in this Agreement shall include their heirs, successors in interest, assigns, employees, agents, and representatives where the context requires or permits. The terms “Tenant,” “You,” and “Your” as used in this Agreement shall include Tenant’s heirs, successors, assigns, guests, invitees, representatives and other persons on the Premises during Your occupancy (without regard to whether such persons have authority under this Agreement to be upon the Premises), where the context requires or permits.
15. Right of Entry. You agree that Agent may enter the Premises during reasonable hours to inspect the Premises, to make such repairs, alterations or improvements thereto as Agent may deem appropriate, or to show Premises to prospective tenants. Agent will schedule an inspection mid week of the property and the pool.
16. Assignment. You shall not assign this Agreement or sublet the Premises in whole or part without written permission of Agent.
17. Pets. No pets shall be allowed on the Premises. Your breach of this provision shall be considered material, and shall result in the termination of Your tenancy. You agree to be immediately responsible for any damages proximately caused by Your pet(s) and a $1000 fee will be paid to owner.
18. Disputes: This Agreement shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the State of North Carolina, and the County of Currituck, State of North Carolina. Any action relating to this Agreement shall be instituted and prosecuted only in the Currituck County Superior Court, North Carolina. You specifically consent to such jurisdiction and to extraterritorial service of process.
19. Miscellaneous: This Agreement, together with the attachments referenced herein and attached hereto, constitutes the entire agreement between the parties relating to the subject matter hereof, and supersedes all prior written oral negotiations, representations, or agreements. No modification of this Agreement shall be binding on either party unless it is in writing signed by both parties. Each section, subsection or paragraph of this Agreement shall be deemed severable and if for any reason any portion of this Agreement is unenforceable, invalid or contrary to any existing or future law, such unenforceability or invalidity shall not affect the applicability or validity of any other portion of this Agreement. For all purposes hereunder, facsimile or electronic signatures shall be deemed to be originals and such signatures shall be given the same effect as would an original signature. THE PARTIES ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THEY HAVE READ THIS AGREEMENT, UNDERSTAND IT, AND AGREE TO BE BOUND BY ITS TERMS AND CONDITIONS.
20. THIS IS A VACATION RENTAL AGREEMENT UNDER THE NORTH CAROLINA VACATION RENTAL ACT N.C.G.S 42A. THE RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS OF THE PARTIES TO THIS AGREEMENT ARE DEFINED BY LAW AND INCLUDE UNIQUE PROVISIONS PERMITTING THE DISBURSEMENT OF RENT PRIOR TO TENANCY AND EXPEDITED EVICTION OF TENANTS. YOUR SIGNATURE ON THIS AGREEMENT, OR PAYMENT OF MONEY OR TAKING POSSESSION OF THE PROPERTY AFTER RECEIPT OF THE AGREEMENT IS EVIDENCE OF YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF THE AGREEMENT AND YOUR INTENT TO USE THIS PROPERTY FOR A VACATION RENTAL. LYNX INTERNATIONAL, LTD. WILL CONDUCT ALL ITS ACTIVITIES IN REGARD TO THIS AGREEMENT WITHOUT RESPECT TO THE RACE, COLOR, RELIGION, SEX, NATIONAL ORIGIN, AND HANDICAP OR FAMILIAL STATUS OF THE GUEST OR ANY OTHER PARTY TO THIS AGREEMENT.
I agree that all rental monies are non-refundable per cancellation policy above and that I have read the suggestion that I purchase travel insurance, as well as all clauses in this agreement and the attachments.

The parties agree to the terms of this Vacation Rental Agreement, as evidenced by the signatures set forth below. The signature of the tenant represents their agreement with all the terms and conditions in this Vacation Rental Agreement, including the attachment to the agreement.

Attachment A: Rental Rules
1. Smoking is NOT allowed in the home. If you smoke outside please use the sand filled ashtrays to
dispose of cigarettes that are by the grill on the cement. Please also note that the area is dry and heavily
wooded. The area is prone to wildfires. You will be held responsible for all damages from any action that
you take that creates a fire.
2. People other than those in the Tenant party set forth above may not stay overnight in the property. Any
person in the property is the sole responsibility of Tenant.
3. Owners are not responsible for any accidents, injuries or illness that occurs while on the premises or its
facilities. The Homeowners are not responsible for the loss of personal belongings or valuables of the
guest. By accepting this reservation, it is agreed that all guests are expressly assuming the risk of any
harm arising from their use of the premises or others whom they invite to use the premise.
4. Keep the property and all furnishings in good order. Please do not move the furniture or take any
inside furniture outside. Do not put furniture in the pool.
5. Only use appliances for their intended uses.
6. Pets. Pets are NOT allowed.
7. Parking: Parking is prohibited to the northern side of the house, as this is a septic field and significant
damage can occur from parking on the septic field. Vehicles ARE NOT allowed in the wooded areas.
8. Housekeeping. There is no daily housekeeping service. While linens and bath towels are included in
the unit, daily maid service is not included in the rental rate. We suggest you bring beach towels. We do
not permit towels or linens to be taken from the home.
9. Hot Tub. No children under the age of 18 are permitted in hot tubs at any time. When using the hot
tub, remember there is a certain health risk associated with this facility. Use at your own risk. Our
housekeepers sanitize, refill and replenish chemicals in all tubs prior to your arrival; therefore, it may not
be warm until later that evening. [DO NOT STAND ON THE HOT TUB COVERS}. Hot tub covers are for
insulation purposes and are not designed to support a person or persons. They will break and you may
be charged for replacement.] Remember when not using the hot tub, leave cover on so hot tub will stay
warm. Also secure the hot tub cover as the wind can blow hard at any moment and a loose hot tub cover
can result in significant damage. If the hottub is over 104, please do not use it.
10 Water and Septic: The home is on a well and septic systems. The mineral content in the water is
high. During a drought, the well water may have an odor. The septic system is very effective; however, it
will clog up if improper material is flushed. DO NOT FLUSH anything other than toilet paper. No feminine
products should be flushed at anytime. If it is found that feminine products have been flushed and clog
the septic system, you could be charged damages of up to $3000.
11. Grills. A grill is provided for tenant use. Tenant and guests are prohibited from using grills on
decks, screened in porches, close to the trees—due to fire safety reasons. A grill area has been
established to provide a safe environment away from the decks and trees. Please use that area.
12. Fire safety. The home is equipped with smoke detector, fire extinguisher, and fire blanket.
Tampering with this equipment is prohibited as these are safety devices provided for our tenants and
guests.
13 Grounds. The home is located on a 10 acre lot with adjacent 10 acre lots—the grounds are wooded
and have various natural features---wetlands, mud, puddles (especially with rain and the location of these
puddles varies), and various wild plants (including poison oak). Agent discloses that there may be
snakes, including poisonous snakes, wild horses, wild feral pigs, ticks, and other wild animals. These

animals can be dangerous. Children should not be left to roam the property without adult supervision. If
you decide to explore the grounds you do so at your own risk and will hold harmless Agent and owner.
Animals may access the house or vehicles—and you hold owner harmless. No vehicles of any kind are
allowed on the grounds, outside of the parking and driveway area.
14. Storms: No refunds will be given for storms.
15. TV and internet. A smart TV and internet is provided in the Shack. Owner assumes you have your
preferred streaming services. Please use those services. Should you have any questions please text the
owner.
16. Decks. Please enjoy the decks. Do not sit on the rails, drag furniture across the decks or move
furniture. High winds are normal and often unexpected—so please be sure to secure your personal
belongings, and in the case of high winds, take the cushions on the chairs into the home.
17. Windows. In the summer, storms can happen quickly. Please keep all doors and windows closed.
And please help protect our wood floors by not letting wet clothes or towels drip on the floor. Repairs to
wooden floors will be charged to your security deposit.
18. Wild Horses. The Currituck Wild Horses roam the property often walking down the driveway and
graze on the grass beside the home. The Wild Horses are protected by ordinances in the county—and
are the State Horse of North Carolina. Rules and regulations concerning the Wild Horses are included in
the guest manual. Please do not feed the horses, attempt to pet the horses, or try to approach the wild
horses. They can be dangerous, especially to children.
21. Pests. The property is treated by Outer Banks Pest Control on a quarterly basis. Please be advised
that leaving the windows or doors open will invite in a significant amount of bugs. Agent is not
responsible for controlling the bugs that might be let into the premise. In the summer, wasps sometimes
build nests near the home, and as this is a natural environment we cannot control wasps, mosquitoes,
flies and bugs.
22. Beach driving. The home is accessible only by 4WD vehicle. All cars are required to drive on
the beach to access the home—there are no roads behind the dunes that enable you to drive from the
paved road to the house. Rules on beach driving are covered by Currituck County Ordinances, and are
included in the guest manual for your knowledge. The tides change as does the beach on a daily basis.
A tide chart is in the home and should be consulted on the best times to go up and down the beach. At
times of high tide or storms, the beach can be impassable.
23. Pool. Swimming is at your own risk and should be arranged with the owner via text as it is a shared
pool. There is not a deep diving end and diving is prohibited. A complete set of pool rules are posted at
the pool site and in the guest manual. Please do not take glass to the pool area. If glass breaks we will
have to drain the pool, and any charges associated with the pool draining and cleaning will be charged to
the tenant. This might include not having the pool ready for the subsequent tenants. Complete plastic
glass and dining products are provided for the tenant in the guest house. Please report any problems to
the owner or property management firm immediately.
24. Bonfires and fireworks. Bonfires are prohibited on the outer banks as are fireworks. These can
easily cause forest fires and endanger the wildlife as well as personal property. Please do not have
bonfires, open air fires, or use fireworks.
25. Internet, TV, Phone. The property has internet service through the phone company—Centurylink.
The owner cannot guarantee that the wireless internet service will always work. The owner cannot
guarantee that the wireless phone service will always work. If there are any difficulties with these
services, please contact the Agent. Full information will be provided in the guest manual.

We will provide 2 beach parking passes. One of the coolest things about Carova is you can park directly on the beach , no lugging chairs, coolers etc from a parking lot . You will drive on the beach, over sand ramps and on sand roads to access the house, 4 wheel drive and airing down is a must! Please refer to the Currituck county beach parking driving website for air down instructions, etc.

They roam free!, stay 50 feet away and do not feed them.
*The wildlife refuge!
It is great for exploring and hiking trails are right next to the house! In addition a False Cape hiking trail is accessible at the north end of the road. Wear bug spray!

Carova Beach Park is about 1 mile south on the same road, it has a boat ramp and docks you can fish from!

What is the 4x4 area like?
Wide beaches, dense maritime forests, and a marshy soundside make up the 11-mile stretch of sand north of Corolla and south of the Virginia border. A four-wheel-drive vehicle is required to explore this beach community, as there are no paved roads. Visitors staying in homes on the 4x4 beaches must drive on the beach and behind the dunes to access their vacation home. Traveling on the sand to your vacation home offers a unique experience, unlike any other. An opportunity to observe the Corolla wild horses in their natural habitat adds to the charm of this uncomplicated area.

Are passes required to drive or park on the 4x4 beaches?
Currituck County requires 4x4 parking permits to park on the beach beginning the last Saturday in April to the first Saturday in October. You do not need a pass to drive on the beach or park at the home.
Two 4x4 parking passes are included and will be in the home and must be returned to the binder. ***$150 replacement fee per pass will be assessed if lost.*** If more than two passes are needed, there are a limited number of additional passes per week available for purchase from Currituck County. If you plan to purchase extra passes, it is recommended that you do so in advance. The cost for a 4x4 parking pass is $50 and can be purchased online, but will need to be picked up in person at the Corolla's Visitors Center.

Do you have suggestions for driving on the 4x4 beaches?
• We strongly recommend 4x4 or AWD vehicles with at least 7.5 inches of ground clearance.
• Bring a tire pressure gauge. Reduced tired pressure is critical to driving on the beach. We strongly encourage your tire pressure to be 18-20 psi.
Currituck County ordinance states that tire pressure cannot exceed 20 psi when traveling on the 4x4 beaches for vehicles weighing less than three-quarters of a ton, which is most vehicles. For vehicles weighing between three-quarters of a ton and one-ton, tire pressure cannot exceed 30 psi. Violators could receive a citation and a $50.00 fine.
• Lower your tire pressure prior to traveling to the North Beach Access ramp to the 4x4 beaches. No vehicle of any type may park or unload at the North Beach Access at any time. Complimentary air hoses are available in the parking lot of the Corolla Park for guests staying in the 4x4 area to re-inflate their tires.
• Check the tide prior to arrival; low tide is ideal for beach driving: Outer Banks Tide Chart.
• Arrive before dark, as the beach is more difficult to navigate at night.
• The speed limit is 35 mph unless posted otherwise (15 mph when within 300 feet of pedestrians or wild horses).
• Avoid driving through the surf and seafoam - salt water is extremely corrosive. Drive either on the hard-packed sand near the edge of the water or on the soft sand just east of the dune line. Leave the middle of the beach for parked vehicles and beach-goers.
• All parked vehicles should be in the middle of the beach (east of the dune line and west of the hard-packed sand near the water's edge). Do not block the flow of traffic with chairs, coolers, fishing lines, or any other items. Always be alert for moving vehicles when walking across the hard-packed sand.
• There is no parking for the first approximately 1.5 miles of the beach. Look for the sign to mark where parking begins. Violators will be towed.
• Drivers must be at least 16 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.
• Currituck County does not allow street legal UTV/side-by-side vehicles except by ATV permits, which are only available to Currituck County residents and property owners. North Carolina allows street legal UTV/side-by-side vehicles on roadways, however, the 4x4 beach is not a roadway, but a Public Vehicular Area controlled by Currituck County.
• Currituck County does not allow personal motorized watercraft on the ocean. Jet skis and personal motorboats are allowed on the Currituck Sound. The closest boat ramp is located at the Whalehead Club in Corolla.
• When is the best time to travel on the 4x4 beaches?
If we had to choose, low tide is the easiest time to travel up and down the 4x4 beaches simply because there is more room and the sand tends to be more hard-packed. Travel during most high tides is still possible, it just may be that the sand is softer. During times of rough weather or exceptionally high tides, travelers may need to wait for the water to recede before travel is recommended. Please view the Outer Banks Tide Chart when planning for arrival. Also, we strongly suggest not traveling at night if this is your first time driving on the beach. If driving at night, please be alert to changing beach conditions, people, horses or other animals, debris, and tree stumps.
• Which vehicles are best for driving on the 4x4 beaches?
Driving on the beach has historically been a unique way of life on The Outer Banks and is still required in some communities. Please be attentive when driving as beach conditions continually change. Reduced tire pressure is critical to a good beach driving experience and 18-20 psi is strongly encouraged. We also recommend 4x4 or AWD vehicles with at least 7.5 inches of ground clearance. Please keep in mind, vehicle models vary greatly. Inspect your vehicle to make sure it is suitable for driving on the beach. We will not be responsible for vehicle recovery or damages.

Bringing Your Pet on Vacation
Keep these tips in mind if you plan to bring your furry family member to the Outer Banks.

Each town has their own regulations regarding pets. Familiarize yourself with the rules in the town you are visiting prior to your arrival.
Please clean up pet waste and deposit in appropriate containers.
Bring fresh water for your dog to drink at the beach. Drinking salt water can make dogs sick.
Provide shade for your pet to rest in at the beach to prevent overheating.
Be sure that your pet is protected against fleas and ticks. These pests are abundant on the Outer Banks.
Bring a leash for your pet. Most towns have leash laws, which are detailed below.
Pavement and beach sand can get hot enough to burn your dog’s feet during the summer. The best times to walk your dog are in the mornings or evenings.
Keep an eye on your pet playing in the ocean or sound. Be aware of dangerous surf conditions, rip currents, and possible submerged dangers.
Pets are not permitted in the pool or hot tub at any time.

Pet Regulations
Nags Head: Leashed dogs are allowed on the beach year-round. Leashes cannot exceed 10 feet in length.

Kill Devil Hills: Dogs are not permitted on the beach between the hours of 9:00 am to 6:00 pm from May 15th through September 15th, unless they are aiding the handicapped. At all other times, leashed dogs are permitted on the beaches.

Kitty Hawk: Dogs are permitted on public beaches. From the Friday before Memorial Day until the day after Labor Day, between the hours of 10:00 am and 6:00 pm, dogs must be on a leash not exceeding 6 feet. At all other times, dogs must be restrained on a leash retractable to 12 feet. Dogs may be taken off the leash only if they will not disturb other people on the beach. Unleashed dogs must be controlled by the handler, who must remain within 30 feet and carry the dog’s leash at all times.

Southern Shores: Dogs are not allowed on the beach between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm from May 15th through September 15th. A leash law is enforced the remainder of the year, and leashes cannot exceed 10 feet in length.

Duck: Beaches are pet-friendly year-round. Dogs are allowed to play unleashed on the beach under close supervision of the owner. Dogs are required to be leashed when in the village or at Duck Town Park.

Corolla: Beaches are pet-friendly year-round. Leashes are required, but there are no length requirements.

4x4 Beaches: Beaches are pet-friendly year-round. Leashes are required, but there are no length requirements.

Mail and Packages
It is not recommended to ship items to the Outer Banks as delivery dates can vary and packages could be missed.

If it is absolutely necessary to have mail delivered during vacation, ensure delivery can be guaranteed while you are here and not before your vacation starts or after your vacation ends. We are not responsible for missed deliveries or lost mail/packages.

Lost and Found
We are not responsible for any item(s) left in a vacation home but will make every attempt to try and recover them. If located, we will ship the item(s) for a minimum fee of $25.00. If the UPS shipping charge is more than $25.00, the guest is responsible for paying the difference (large or very heavy items). Items not claimed within 14 days will be donated to a local charity.

4x4 Beaches: A public boat launch that accesses the Currituck Sound is located at the Carova Beach Park at Milepost 21, on 2100 Ocean Pearl Road. Due to shallow water, this ramp is suitable for small craft only.

Corolla: A public boat ramp is located at Whalehead in Historic Corolla and is open from sunrise until dusk. Due to shallow water and grass, this ramp is suitable for small craft only.

Kitty Hawk: A public boat launch is located on Bob Perry Road. There is parking available for up to 30 vehicles, as well as a picnic area and canal that leads out to open sound waters.

Kill Devil Hills: A public boat ramp is located off of Bay Drive and Dock Street. This ramp features multiple docks and parking for up to 12 vehicles.

Manteo: Across from Pirate's Cove Marina, on the western side of the Washington Baum Bridge, a NC Wildlife Resources Commission boat ramp is available to the public. Parking is available for up to 50 vehicles, and there are several pedestrian walkways for easy, boat-free fishing.

All homes are cleaned and linens changed prior to guest arrival and upon guest departure. Blankets are not laundered in between every guest.


Homes with Private Wells
The home has a private well. Homes with private wells can occasionally experience low pressure, salty, distasteful or discolored water. There may be an unpleasant sulfur odor. Private well water may discolor hair and/or clothing. Many guests choose to use bottled water for drinking purposes even though the water is tested regularly for contaminants. All homes on the 4x4 beaches have private wells and may have more prevalent water problems, even in homes with water filtration systems.

Welcome to the Salty Mermaid Lodge! This 2023 new build 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath is located in the secluded 4x4 area of Carova Beach. To get to our home you MUST have a four-wheel drive vehicle. We are down the beach at milepost 23 which is a 10-mile drive from the pavement. You will be a short drive or walk to the beach. Enjoy the panoramic views of the ocean in our crow's nest. Also the unique attraction of the wild horses!

The space
Our house is a 3 bedroom with 1 king size ensuite, 1 queen room and a bunk room with a twin over full size bunk bed. A full bath is in the hall on the bedroom level. We also have an outdoor shower for cleaning up after a full day on the beach. The kitchen is fully stocked with anything you would need for cooking meals. Wi-fi and Roku televisions in the living area and all 3 bedrooms are provided. With the expansive decks and spacious living area there is plenty of space for everyone to have an amazing stay!

The entire property is available for full access with the exception of 4 owner's closets and the garage.

Other things to note
In order to park on the beach you must have a beach parking pass. We provide 2 passes with the rental of our home. Please leave them for future guests to enjoy ( A $500 fee will be charged for missing parking passes). Parking is prohibited for the first 1.5 miles north of the 4WD beach access. It is also enforced that you park in the middle of the beach as the dune line and foreshore are the road except for the area between milepost 14.5 and 17. Please air down your tires to 15-20 psi to make traversing the sand easier. The back of the guest parking passes explains everything you need to know for driving and parking on the beach.

The exterior of our home is protected by security cameras. ANY tampering with cameras and or signals will result in immediate eviction with NO refund.

Relax with the whole family. Sunday to Sunday stay. It's a 2min drive to park on Carova Beach. This is a 4WD community. You must have a 4WD vehicle to drive the beach roads and sand secondary roads. The wild horses are seen enjoying themselves ! The view from the top floor is a horizon view of the ocean. The picture is zoomed as ocean is 400 yards away! The sunsets are amazing. You are at mile post 22 which is 9.5 miles from the paved roads of Corolla. A once in a life time experience !

The location is something out of a movie. Waking up to the sound of the ocean, drinking coffee while watching wild horses wander through the yard, and ending the night stargazing from the hot tub... unreal. You do need a 4x4 to get there, but it’s totally worth the adventure.

The space
The house work well for larger groups, and is also excellent for just a couple wanting to get away for the weekend.

Canal house in the Carova 4x4 area. Located near mm22 with a short walk/drive to the beach. You'll enjoy the widest part of the beach for tailgating, wild horse sightings and beautiful scenery. Travel to this remote property requires 9 miles of driving on the beach, 4WD vehicles are a must!

Other things to note
Driving on the sand is required and is part of the 4x4 beach experience. 4wd vehicles are a must for the Carova Beach area. Beach parking passes are provided for beach tailgating in-season.

The pavement ends in Corolla at mm 13. You will drive 9 miles on the beach to mm 22 to reach the house. GPS will try to take you off the beach behind the dunes but stay on the beach and use the cell tower for a visual reference day/night will be the cell tower at the Carova Beach Firehouse, which is at mm 21.5.

Off-sand parking and transport to the beach house is available through local vendors for guests without a 4x4.

So many simple pleasures await you in The Weathervane. Wake to the beautiful sunrise and pounding surf. Step out on the deck with that first cup of coffee. Touch the moon glade just steps from your front door. This is Relaxation!!

What fun to use the outdoor telescope in this lovely semi-oceanfront (2nd row) home, situated in a very quiet section of the 4x4 beach. Located just 7 miles north of the end of the hard road and nestled between two wildlife preserves, your shoulders will drop as soon as you pull in. The serenity on this part of the beach is amazing. Watch the breakers from the nicely stocked kitchen in this reverse floor plan home. You may even see some brown pelicans fly by as you sip your coffee. Spend your morning on the screened in porch watching the wild horses. You may also spot foxes, bunnies, deer or black hogs. (They are here but are elusive!) Wildlife abounds on the beach as well with all kinds of bird and fish, shellfish and mollusks. Shelling is a favorite pastime, not to mention fishing and swimming. Leashed pets are allowed on the beach so you can bring your dog and enjoy the day. Setting up is easy since you will be able to take your gear to the beach in your car. You can even park on the beach and use it as a base of operation. Two beach parking passes are provided for guest use... so no extra expense with our homes!! Forgot something? … no worries, since the house is just steps away.

Everything is better at the beach, including sleeping! Two of the three bedrooms have memory foam queen beds, flat screen smart tv’s and private access to the second level deck. The third bedroom has a flat screen smart tv and a duo-bunk bed (double bed lower and twin bed upper, also memory foam). This home has plenty of room for a small family, but will also suit for a couple who just need to get away from it all.

If you are not familiar with Carova Beach, you will be enchanted with the excitement of driving on the beach, witnessing wildlife in its natural habitat and being separated from the masses. Or maybe you already know how exhilarating it is to wake up to the pounding surf, neighing horses and the prospect of another beautiful day on the beach. Other things to note
Vehicles must travel on the sand near the ocean to access their home. There are driving restrictions on parts of the beach, but for the most part, you will have free reign of where you can drive. As such, that means that for most of the beach, cars will be driving by as you are sitting on the beach. The speed limit is 15mph around pedestrians and horses. There is one stretch of beach, between milemarker 14.5 and milemarker 17, where cars are diverted to the dune side of the beach, leaving the beach goers to enjoy the foreshore with no interruption. Of course, the further north you go, the less cars there are, since the vehicles naturally thin out as they reach their milemarker. You cannot go through to VA from our beach due to a gated fence which keeps the horses and cars in NC. Across the fence is the False Cape State Park of VA and vehicular traffic is prohibited unless you are an old-timer and have a key to the gate!

The space
Home is located 10 miles off the pavement in the beautiful community of Carova Beach. You will need a 4WD vehicle with at least 8 inches of clearance to get to the house. A free air-down station is located at the Corolla Historical Park.

The house is equipped with everything you need for a relaxing beach vacation. We have three kayaks for guests to use in the canals out to the sound. Kid's toys, books, games, and puzzles for rainy afternoons. Relax in the hot tub and watch for the wild horses that make frequent visits to the property.

The kitchen is fully equipped with place settings for 12 and a full set of pots/pans, baking ware, and cooking utensils. There is a large crab pot, Ninja blender, and hand mixer for your use. Both the upstairs kitchen and downstairs kitchenette have full refrigerators with icemakers, dishwashers, and coffeepots. The downstairs coffee pot has a Keurig as well.

You will be provided a code for the door a couple days prior to check in. You can enjoy the entire home and all the nice amenities provided on the ground level including the dock, dock ladder, dock raft, kayak, paddle board, grill, hottub, beach chairs, boogie boards, umbrella (all in the storage bin), porch swing, and fire pit. Please note that the hallway owners closet and garage are both locked for owners use only. If access is needed for an emergency, please contact the host for the lockbox code.

Cozy beach cottage in the Carova 4x4 area. Located near mm22 with a short walk/drive to the beach. You'll enjoy the widest part of the beach for tailgating, wild horse sightings and beautiful scenery. Travel to this remote property requires 9 miles of driving on the beach, 4WD vehicles are a must!

The pool is open mid-April through mid-October. The pool can be heated for a $300 weekly fee in April/May and Sept/Oct.

The space
Enter the main floor from your front decks and the space opens up to the great room with living area, dining space and fully-equipped kitchen.

The main level has 2 bedrooms... 1 king w full private bath and 1 w twin-over-full bunk plus a separate twin. Full bath in the hallway, plus laundry room.

Upstairs is identical to below... 1 king with full private bath and 1 room with a twin-over-full bunk plus a separate twin.

Other things to note
Driving on the sand is required and is part of the 4x4 beach experience. 4x4 vehicles are a must for driving to Carova.

The pavement ends in Corolla at mm 13. You will drive 9 miles on the beach to mm 22 to reach the house. GPS will try to take you off the beach behind the dunes but stay on the beach and use the cell tower for a visual reference day/night will be the cell tower at the Carova Beach Firehouse, which is at mm 21.5.

Off-sand parking and transport to the beach house is available through local vendors for guests without a 4x4.

“Dune What We Do” is a newly updated home on the canal in the 4X4 AREA. A 4WD Vehicle is REQUIRED to get to this home. Ideal for a small family of 5-6 that loves relaxation and/or adventure! When not sitting (or surfing) on the pristine Carova Beach or admiring the horses (from at least 50’ away), we hope that you will fall in love with our home like we have!

Located on the 4x4 access beach, Carova. This gorgeous canal front home is the perfect place for a relaxing getaway! You can fish, crab, and swim right from the canal or hang out by the water where the wild horses roam! Situated just a half mile to the beach. Local to Currituck? You can access the home by boat from the Currituck Sound.

The space
The ground level has a spacious covered concrete patio with outdoor seating, an outdoor dining set, and charcoal grill. There is an outdoor shower for you to rinse off the sand after being on the beach all day.

The main living level of the home is open concept with a dining room, large kitchen, living room, and half bathroom. The dining room has a table, chairs and benches to seat 8. The kitchen has a bar top that seats 3 and is fully equipped with cookware, utensils, dishes, and towels. The living room has a sleeper sofa, loveseat, and chair. You can access the first level deck with an outdoor dining set with canal views in the back, and enjoy sunsets over the Currituck Sound from the front deck.

The second living level of the home has 2 master suites and the laundry room. The 1st master bedroom has a king bed, dresser, and nightstands with a walk-in closet. It has a full bathroom with a dreamy tub that’s perfect for relaxing and separate walk-in shower. This room also has it’s own walkout deck that overlooks the canal. The 2nd master has a king bed and nightstands with a walk-in closet. It has an attached full bathroom with a walk-in shower.

The third living level is an open loft space that is perfect for kids! There are two built in loft beds, one king and one queen.

The living room and main master bedroom are equipped with smartTV’s, and the whole home has WiFi. All linens, towels, and washcloths are provided. Beach parking passes provided as needed between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Guest access
Carova Beach is fairly secluded. The only means of transportation are your own vehicle or walking. Turn over the dune at mile marker 21.

You are welcome to park at our home over the course of your stay in the designated area.

DO NOT PARK OR PLAY IN FENCED AREA. THIS IS THE SEPTIC FIELD AND GUEST WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGES.

Other things to note
**This home is located on the 4x4 beach. You will need a 4 wheel drive vehicle to get to the home and around the area, as you will be driving on the sand and over dunes. It is also accessible by boat from the Currituck Sound.**

-Guests are not allowed to use the indoor or outdoor fireplace
-Only registered guests are allowed to stay overnight
-No eating in the bedrooms
-The home has a septic system. Guests agree to not flush feminine products, wipes, or Kleenex down the toilets. Provided toilet paper only.
-Pets/animals are not allowed. Bringing them onto the property will terminate your stay immediately without refund and a $500 cleaning fee will be charged.
-No smoking or vaping inside the home or on the decks.
