Take a step back in time when you enter our little log cabin by the river. Built in 1949, this cabin is a replica of the log cabins built by the gold seekers of Alaska. Though modern in most aspects we have retained the native charm of unfinished wood, rough, hand-hewn logs and naked beams. The inspiration for the cabin was found by my great grandfather who spent time in Alaska working on the Alcan highway. You will find evidence of its Canadian heritage throughout the cabin.
The cabin sits up on a gently sloping cliff and offers excellent views of the river. Enjoy a glass of wine on the dock and relax as you watch the sun set.

Overlooking the historic swinging bridge, on the Iowa River, this newly-remodeled guest house features 3 bedrooms, 1.5 baths, and fully equipped new kitchen which opens to the living area. Our home has 3 large smart TVs and Wifi for all your favorites as well as foosball and air hockey table, darts and more in our bonus game room. Our walk out deck backs up-to beautiful green views and plenty of visiting deer throughout the changing seasons.

Welcome to our 1923 farmhouse in quaint Eldora, Iowa. We purchased the house as a home away from home and have been spending the last year completing renovations and making improvements. The house does not have central air but the two window units keep the upstairs plenty cool. In winter the boiler system provides plenty of heat with registers in every room. The kitchen is fully furnished, we have a gas grill on the patio, and folding chairs to enjoy the patio in the evenings. There’s also a swing on the front porch to enjoy your morning coffee. The house sits just off the square and is walking distance to the city pool, playground, small bowling alley, one screen movie theater, grocery stores and restaurants. Close by you can also visit Pine Lake and access a great bike trail. We live in Texas but we have family in Iowa and we enjoy the slower pace, cooler summers, and even a snowy day from time to time. We will continue to improve the house over time and look forward to sharing our place with visitors regardless of if you’re passing through or if you just need to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. Welcome to our home away from home.

- "Staying in this lovely, well appointed home made our weekend in Eldora so comfortable and convenient. We had a family reunion in the Hardin County Barn Museum just a few blocks from the home. It was so nice to have this spacious home so close!" - "We had a group of 7 adults, 1 teen and 1 baby. The house worked well for us. It is pretty typical for an older midwestern home. It was nicely staged, and it had everything we needed and then some. The bunk beds were said to be hard but the other beds were very comfortable. We did have a small leak when the upstairs bathroom was used; it dropped water by the dining room table so we used a cooler to catch the drip. I notified the owner over VRBO message (we did not get a phone number but she was fast to respond so this was fine). There is a 2nd bathroom downstairs but it has an odd setup and not much privacy. We were there at the end of June/early July and it was hot but the 2 window air conditioners were plenty once the house cooled down. The person with the a/c unit in their bedroom slept with their door open so the air could be circulated with fans to other rooms. The lake nearby is beautiful and the downtown is historic and charming. We enjoyed our time there and would gladly stay there again."

Main entrance is located on the south side of the house. Upon entering down the red brick hallway to the left or southwest side of home is the living room. This room has a large horseshoe shaped leather couch with a 65” television. Lots of windows give you a great view of the front yard and pasture. Entering the hallway to the left centrally located is the dining room. This room has a dining room table that seats eight people, chandelier light with a slate floor. The organ is from the original owners and is there for you to play and sing songs. Down a different walkway on the east side of the house is a very nice kitchen. Red brick floor, custom cabinets built to match the original’s and black granite countertop. Stainless steel stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave, coffee pot, coffee mugs, cookware, cooking utensils, plates, bowls, glasses, forks, knives and spoons are provided. On the east side of the house connecting to the kitchen is the breezeway. Second of the three entrances to the house this room hosts a small kitchenette with stainless steel sink and convection microwave. White wicker chairs, couch with a television. This room is nice for extra preparation and a second location to watch television. Located between the kitchen and breezeway is the laundry room. A washer, dryer and stainless steel deep sink with black granite counter tops. This is nice for long stays or washing clothes from having too much fun in the river. Entering the walkway passing the kitchen going through the dining room on the north side of the house is one large bedroom and hosts the third entrance to the house. Full bathroom one king bed, two single beds and a nice futon bed for children or young people and a television. Entering the dining room to the right is a half bathroom. Finishing with the downstairs next to the half bathroom is the library. Which has the same nice futon bed for children or young people. Going upstairs are two bedrooms and a full bathroom. At the top of the stairs is a hallway to the right and facing east is the first bedroom. A full bed, chester draw and television. Large window gives an excellent view of the driveway and main entrance. Back into the hallway to the left is the full bathroom. Everything is brand new except the original wood décor which was redone during the remodel. Finally entering the hallway to the left on the west side is the last upstairs bedroom. This room has a king bed, nightstands, original custom closets with built in draws. Large windows give you a great view of pasture and timber along the river. Upon request and no extra charge there is a 800 square foot remolded garage. Giving you the ability to sleep 4 more people in two pull out queen beds. It has two bathrooms with showers, sinks and mirrors. A kitchenet with counter, deep sinks and cupboards with a small table and six chairs are available. There are no plates, glasses or kitchen goods in the garage and you need to provide your own paper plates, glasses and plastic spoons and forks. It's meant for when barbequing outside giving you a separate food staging area with a water source. In the closet there is a washer and dryer. Two flat screen tv's mounted to the walls and a pool table. There are two large sliding doors that open making it convenient for barbequing and enjoying the outside and nature.

This is a comfortable well laid out home with 3 bedrooms upstairs. Two rooms are equal rooms with queen beds, closet and built-ins. The 3rd bedroom has twin beds that can be converted to a king with a conversion kit and both types of bedding. Upstairs is the main bathroom with new tub and rainhead shower that will make even tall people happy. This bath has twin sinks and lots of storage. The basement bath has a shower, but this is part of the laundry room and so this is a functional, but not luxurious amenity and you must be able to climb stairs to access the laundry/bath.

This home built in the 1950s is a carefully restored vintage gem. It has rustic charm combined with a modern vibe and amenities. It's not a cookie cutter home and it's carefully curated to respect the original bones of the home and this special park setting.

For your outdoor enjoyment, we have a deck, screened porch, sunporch, fire pit with Adirondack chairs, gardens and woods to investigate and yard games and sporting gear to enjoy it all. You may wander the front garden area to see the monarch butterfly garden, check out what perennials are blooming and wander into the "prairie" where the solar panels are located and where the deer bed down at night.

Renovated early 1900's Manor into a taste of European culture. Travel to Paris, Madrid, Venice, or Vienna for a night in a peaceful rural Iowa town in Iowas beautiful River Greenbelt. Biking and hiking trails, fishing, boating, canoeing, floating the river, all within a couple miles. Price listed is per room, per night.

The space
The Paris room is decorated in the turn of the century "arte nouveau" style that began in the Czech Republic by Alphonse Mucha. The focal point is the mahogany arte nouveau gold gilt bed frame which was especially manufactured for The White House of Eldora Bed and Breakfast in England. The room has a built in cabinet with four drawers for guest use as well as a small closet. Fold out table and chairs are available in the room for other belongings if necessary. For early risers who love the morning sunrise, this is the perfect room. Otherwise, for others who might like to sleep longer, light darkening and temperature regulating curtains are installed

Guest access
Guests have access to all areas of the house including the patio garden next to the Garden room, second floor deck, salon and dining room. The kitchen is restricted.

During your stay
I love interacting with my guests and will gladly show them around town go out to dinner with them or just share a glass of wine, however I also respect their wish for privacy and or solitude. As a Superhost since 2017, I will everything in my power to make their stay comfortable, clean, and memorable.

Other things to note
Guests should be aware that the main bath is shared if there are other guests. The bath/shower has a telephone faucet and takes some getting used to. If all rooms are occupied some bath articles may be kept in the guests room where there is adequate place for hanging damp towels and placing personal articles. Otherwise, there are built in cabinets and drawers in the bathroom as well as towel rods where guests may keep their personal care products.

All mattresses and pillows were bought brand new before the opening in 2017. They are covered with mattress and pillow protectors against bedbugs. The linens and blankets are laundered with skin sensitive detergent.

A continental breakfast of biscuits or rolls and/or cinnamon rolls are offered or cereals if preferred, with coffee,tea and juice. Full sit-down warm breakfasts are available for an additional $8.50 per person. Guests can choose from a variety of options such as scrambled eggs with bacon and rolls or biscuits, Belgian waffles served with fruit, or French toast served with fruit for example. Organically grown foods(fruit, honey, maple syrup, some dairy products and always organic eggs are used as available). Coffee is freshly ground in the morning and can be combined with organic decaf to produce a half calf blend. Specialties served with breakfast include Amana Colony apple butter and Nutella.

Last but not least, as mentioned in the description there are cats on the property but they are contained in areas away from guests. They are usually very quiet but an occasional meow or patter of paws on the floor or scratching on doors/walls may not be totally unavoidable.

We are bicyclist and pet friendly. Construction workers are welcome.

The space
The house is very private surrounded by evergreens. The backyard space includes a fire pit and a grill. We have outdoor chairs and a large table for you to use. The indoor space is very cozy with recliners and a queen size couch. There is a 55 inch smart tv and a dvd player with speedy internet.

Guest access
You have access to the whole house. We have everything that you need, just look around. If you are not sure, just ask. Includes three parking spaces.

Other things to note
We are dog friendly. We do not accept cats at this time. A pet fee and signed addendum are required. The house is all electric and uses well water. Please use the drinking water provided for drinking and cooking. Outdoor furniture can be found in the three season room: camping chairs, folding chairs, and a folding table.

Biking and hiking trails, fishing, boating, canoeing, floating the river, all within a couple miles. An Iowa own winery is can be visited nearby. Price listed is per room, per night.

The space
The focal point of the Madrid Room is the impressive period style black-brown wrought iron bed and rich wine red walls accented with ivory woodwork and Spanish style accents. This room has direct access to a deck where breakfast can be eaten or a glass of Sangria drunk on pleasant Iowa evenings. On clear nights there is a fantastic view of the star studded sky, especially striking when there is a full moon. A large closet and fold out tables for guests belongings are available. Please note that although the room can accommodate 4 guests, the second queen size bed is an air mattress!

Guest access
Guests have access to all areas of the house including the patio garden next to the Garden room, second floor deck, salon and dining room. Only the kitchen is restricted when breakfast is being prepared.

During your stay
I love interacting with my guests and will gladly show them around town go out to dinner with them or just share a glass of wine, however I also respect their wish for privacy and or solitude. As a Superhost since 2017, I will everything in my power to make their stay comfortable, clean, and memorable.

Other things to note
Guests should be aware that the main bath is shared if there are other guests. The bath/shower has a telephone faucet and takes some getting used to. If all rooms are occupied some bath articles may be kept in the guests room where there is adequate place for hanging damp towels and placing personal articles. Otherwise there are built in cabinets and drawers in the bathroom as well as towel rods where guests may keep their personal care products.

All mattresses and pillows were bought brand new before the opening in 2017. They are covered with mattress and pillow protectors against bedbugs. The linens and blankets are laundered with skin sensitive detergent.

Three entry doors are located on the deck and provide direct access to two guestrooms and the innkeeper's living quarters which is quite convenient but can cause added noise except in winter when the deck is not accessible.

A continental breakfast of biscuits or rolls and/or cinnamon rolls are offered or cereals if preferred, with coffee,tea and juice. Full sit-down warm breakfasts are available for an additional $8.50 per person. guests can choose from a variety of options such as scrambled eggs with bacon and rolls or biscuits, Belgian waffle served with fruit, or French toast served with fruit for example. Organically grown foods(fruit, honey, maple syrup, some dairy products and always organic eggs are used as available). Coffee is freshly ground in the morning and can be combined with organic decaf to produce a half calf blend. Specialties served with breakfast include Amana Colony apple butter and Nutella.

Last but not least, as mentioned in the description there are cats on the property but they are confined to the owner's apartment in the attic area or weather permitting the garden room. They are usually very quiet but an occasional meow or patter of paws on the floor or scratching may not be totally unavoidable.

We are bicyclist and pet friendly. Construction workers welcome.

The space
The Vienna room was selected to represent the German speaking countries of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland because of its defining European history, its opulence at the height of its power and its connection to the Hungarian Empire. The room reflects strong leaders and strong relations between countries as well as the European influence of Louis the 14th of France throughout the royal houses of Europe its decor and furnishings. This room opens directly onto the deck which is accessible in good weather and is also the only guest room that has a private bathroom with shower(added the Summer of 2018).

Guest access
Guests have access to other parts of the house except the kitchen. The deck is open to all guests as weather conditions allow.

Relax with the family at this peaceful place to stay. Located across the street from a wildlife preserve, you can enjoy birdwatching, stargazing and an abundance of wildlife. It is a 5-minute walk to the lake beach and bike trail. It is a 1-minute drive to the Pine Lake CC golf course and a 1-minute drive to the boat ramp. Enjoy the newly remodeled indoor space that includes two bedrooms, a full kitchen, and bathroom with a full shower/tub. The roads to the house are all paved.

The space
Here are some design facts about the home that you may find interesting: The interior decor includes wall art painted by local artists, and a book written by a local author. Our Pine Lake coffee mugs were printed a couple of minutes up the street by the artist that designed the mugs. The vanity and kitchen cabinets were designed, built, finished and installed by me, your host. I also made two of the occasional tables that are in the house.

Enjoy a woodland atmosphere in our original log cabin. Newly renovated and directly in town. Sport and recreation nearby at Pine Lake and the Iowa River Greenbelt.

Well managed and flea-free pets are accepted.

Smart TV for local channels and WIFI connection is available.

The space
Great for families, small groups, businesspersons in relocation situations, sportsmen, nature lovers, visiting relatives for the holidays and stressed city dwellers looking for weekend getaway. Construction workers are welcome (ask about extended stay rates).

The main street is a short walk and provides grocery stores, a Shopko for general household and clothing needs, a library, a cinema, gas stations and several eating places. Most denominations are present for church goers.

Accommodations for 2-4 guests: queen bed in bedroom; queen size sofa bed in living room, queen air bed plus one single air bed suitable for a child can be managed comfortably. Price is variable depending on length of stay and number of guests and season. Security deposit required for 30 days and longer. For more than 2 guests we require a $10 charge per person to offset additional energy and water usage. Please note that the cabin is subject to state and local taxes (about 12%).
