Our newly remodeled split-entry "Hilltop Hospitality House" was my childhood home. Located one hour from Omaha in the lovely Loess Hills of Iowa, there are beautiful lake and valley views. With one queen bed, two double beds, two twin beds, one sofa sleeper, a full kitchen, two full baths, laundry, a spacious open floor plan for large groups, and a large deck overlooking my friendly hometown, this is a great space for groups and family gatherings. A nice studio apartment above the garage rents separately.

My son and son-in-law were able to catch quite a few fish off the docks at the pond (playground and pond located down the hill less than 5 minute walk from the house). Kitchen is well equipped with utensils and cookware. We prepared most of our meals at the house, other than ordering pizza one night. (Pizza from Town and Country Store was pretty good for gas station pizza 😉). Overall a great place to relax and spend time with family!"

Located one hour from Omaha in the scenic Loess Hills of Iowa, this newly remodeled studio apartment above the garage has a large deck and a beautiful valley view overlooking my hometown. When you walk in you will see the gathering area of the dining Area with a large flat screen TV, living room with a large flat screen TV, fully functioning kitchen for creating your favorite meal and a sitting area next to the kitchen for enjoying your morning coffee. The bedrooms feature comfort plush mattresses and linens. Oversize bath towels enough for each guest.

The property includes 2 acres. Smart TV, so you can login and watch HULU, Netflix and other popular devices. We now have fast STARLINK Wi-Fi! We are very excited about this as cell service and internet was very difficult to get before. We are located 12 miles from Onawa. minutes away from Preparation Canyon State Park, 20 minutes from Blue Lake. Home is located near over 12,000 public hunting acres offering the best whitetail and turkey hunting in the Midwest.

Other things to note
We supply firewood for the outdoor firepit. Toilet paper, paper towels, hand and dish soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash are provided. We do not allow pets in this home or in the garage. They must be kept outside and renter is responsible for any waste removal and damage the pet does.

A little bit about our area:

The Loess Hills are a unique geographical formation that are composed of fine ground wind blown silt from glacier deposits. As the glaciers melted, the Missouri Valley flooded with enormous amounts of water. Each winter, the waters froze, and large areas of sediments were left exposed to the wind and blew to the East and deposited in the dune like hills, you will see.
Preparation Canyon offers a lake for kayaking and public fishing. The Overlook on the north edge provides an amazing view as well as hike. This is also a great picnic spot.
The Loess Hills Scenic Byways are 200 miles of paved highway where you can see wildlife, prairie plants and hills.
Lewis and Clark State Park is located at Blue Lake, west on Onawa. A great place for boating or learning a little bit of history.

Please note that smoking is not permitted inside the home, and pets are not allowed inside the home at any time. If you have a pet, they must remain outside, and the renter is responsible for cleaning up after them and any potential damage they may cause. Additionally, there are two security cameras positioned on the exterior of the property, which can be turned off upon request if you inform the owners prior to your visit.

Everything you need in one comfortable space! Spacious studio style apartment has a king sized bed, two twin beds, three dressers, a clothing rack, private washer and dryer, and a newly remodeled bathroom featuring a corner whirlpool tub, vessel sink, and separate shower! The kitchen has a flat top electric range, with range hood, refrigerator, full size counter top microwave, coffee maker, toaster, and lovely vintage dishes. The separate dining area has a table and four chairs. The living room area has a large sectional couch, coffee table, end table, large wool rug, and TV. Guest Access:
This is an exclusive Tentrr Signature campsite. Tentrr partners with land owners to offer unique accommodations in beautiful outdoor spaces. Our campsites are off-the-grid which means they generally do not have access to electricity, wifi, or modern plumbing. Instead, they offer the chance to relax, unplug, and fully experience nature!

Your Tentrr campsite includes a 10'x12' (120 square feet) safari-style canvas tent on a raised wooden platform. Inside the tent you'll find one queen bed with a memory foam mattress. The tent is big enough for the bed plus one or two extra sleeping bags on the floor. Aside from the canvas tent, campers can also use the extra 5-person pop-up dome tent that’s provided. You'll also have a 6-ft picnic table, outdoor fire pit, and 2 Tentrr Adirondack chairs.

Max Occupancy: This refers to the total number of campers allowed onsite with your reservation.

Toilets: Every campsite is equipped with a camp toilet (we call it the Tentrr Loo). This is a simple wooden box with a toilet seat and a bucket inside. To use, line the bucket with a CleanWaste Sani-Bag supplied at the camp prior to use. Afterwards, simply tie the bag up and place it in a trash bag. CleanWaste Sani-Bags use a NASA-developed gelling/deodorizing agent that helps prevent spills and keeps everyone safe and clean.

Showers: Every Signature campsite comes with a Coleman Sun Shower. The sun shower has a reservoir that holds up to 5 gallons of water, potentially enough for multiple showers. It's constructed of heat-locking material that warms the water when it's left in the sun, even on cool days.

Other Things to Note:
This is a "pack in - Pack out" site, meaning only foot traffic. You will park at the designated parking area at the entrance of the grounds and walk a short distance down a maintained path to your named tent site, make sure you find the correct named tent. there will be a wagon provided for you to help carry in your belongings.

- We provide linens, they will be stored in a tote bag so that you can make your bed when you arrive! When it is time to leave, you will put the bedding back in the bag so that our cleaning team can grab it for offsite cleaning prior to the next guests
-We provide trash bags, water cooler and firewood
-There is a water hydrant near the campground entrance for campers
-You will need to pack your own food, water, bug spray, toiletries, coolers and flashlights
-Pack accordingly for the weather. There is no electricity
-All trash must be collected and discarded in the designated cans
-Please use the toilet bags and discard in the trash cans and bring your own toiletries
-No fireworks or guns
-Please stay on the maintained trails
-NO HUNTING ALLOWED
-Please do not disturb the wildlife and habitat.

Remember you are on the old Boy Scout grounds, There are remnants of the history of the Boy Scouts. Please do not enter or climb undesignated spaces and or buildings.

Interaction with Guests:
Upon check out, you should leave-no-trace of your stay and be sure your campsite is returned to its natural glory! While Tentrr does not charge a cleaning fee, we do expect campsites to be left how they were found. After you check out, take everything you brought in and be sure to leave your trash at the designated location.

If a Tentrr Host submits an incident report after your stay that details evidence of trash or damage to the campsite or the host's property, Tentrr reserves the right to charge a minimum cleaning fee of $50. Just make sure to follow the Camper Manual posted at your campsite and you'll be set!

Reservation Modifications/Cancellations: Please note the terms of the cancelation policy as they are outlined in your confirmation email. Your Tentrr Host is unable to change or cancel your reservation on your behalf, and they are unable to waive any cancellation fees (if applicable). Our campsites are off-the-grid which means they generally do not have access to electricity, wifi, or modern plumbing. Instead, they offer the chance to relax, unplug, and fully experience nature!

Your Tentrr campsite includes a 10'x12' (120 square feet) safari-style canvas tent on a raised wooden platform. Inside the tent you'll find one queen bed with a memory foam mattress. The tent is big enough for the bed plus one or two extra sleeping bags on the floor. Aside from the canvas tent, campers can also use the extra 5-person pop-up dome tent that’s provided. You'll also have a 6-ft picnic table, outdoor fire pit, and 2 Tentrr Adirondack chairs.

Max Occupancy: This refers to the total number of campers allowed onsite with your reservation.

Toilets: Every campsite is equipped with a camp toilet (we call it the Tentrr Loo). This is a simple wooden box with a toilet seat and a bucket inside. To use, line the bucket with a CleanWaste Sani-Bag supplied at the camp prior to use. Afterwards, simply tie the bag up and place it in a trash bag. CleanWaste Sani-Bags use a NASA-developed gelling/deodorizing agent that helps prevent spills and keeps everyone safe and clean.

Showers: Every Signature campsite comes with a Coleman Sun Shower. The sun shower has a reservoir that holds up to 5 gallons of water, potentially enough for multiple showers. It's constructed of heat-locking material that warms the water when it's left in the sun, even on cool days.

Other Things to Note:
This is a "pack in - Pack out" site, meaning only foot traffic. You will park at the designated parking area at the entrance of the grounds and walk a short distance down a maintained path to your named tent site, make sure you find the correct named tent. there will be a wagon provided for you to help carry in your belongings.

- We provide linens, they will be stored in a tote bag so that you can make your bed when you arrive! When it is time to leave, you will put the bedding back in the bag so that our cleaning team can grab it for offsite cleaning prior to the next guests
-We provide trash bags, water cooler and firewood
-There is a water hydrant near the campground entrance for campers
-You will need to pack your own food, water, bug spray, toiletries, coolers and flashlights
-Pack accordingly for the weather. There is no electricity

The space
This 1000 sq ft, 2 bed/2 bath home features an updated kitchen, large dining room, living room with sofa sleeper, two all new baths, 50 inch smart tv, and high speed WiFi.

The fully stocked kitchen has been updated with all new appliances (refrigerator, stove/oven, microwave and dishwasher), new shaker style cabinetry, farmhouse sink, and the original, restored built in kitchen cabinet from the early 1900’s.

The living room invites relaxation with its plush sofa that includes a pullout queen bed, a large recliner, a 43” Smart TV, and a selection of family games to enjoy.

The master bedroom is a serene retreat, featuring a king-sized bed, a desk for work or study, and a full-length mirror. Adjacent to the master is a well-appointed master bathroom with a stand-up shower, double vanity, and a spacious closet.

Upstairs, the second bedroom on the right is furnished with two twin beds and a closet, making it ideal for kids or guests. The third bedroom, located at the top of the stairs on the left, offers a queen-sized bed, a full-length mirror, and its own closet for added storage.

The Loess Hills Cottage offers a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes you feel right at home, all while providing the benefits of contemporary amenities. With its fully renovated interior, you'll enjoy features like heating and air conditioning, brand-new appliances, and a host of additional comforts that enhance your stay.

Other things to note:
Essential amenities such as toilet paper, paper towels, hand and dish soap, body lotion, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are all included for your convenience. Each room is equipped with fans, and both bathrooms have blow dryers available. Fresh bedding and linens are also provided to ensure a comfortable stay. Both bathrooms are located on the main floor. Please note that smoking is not permitted inside the home, and pets are not allowed inside the home at any time. If you have a pet, they must remain outside, and the renter is responsible for cleaning up after them and any potential damage they may cause. Additionally, there are two security cameras positioned on the exterior of the property, which can be turned off upon request if you inform the owners prior to your visit.

The Loess Hills represent a remarkable geographical feature that emerged from the grinding of materials in river valleys due to glacial movements during the ice ages. This region is one of the few in the world boasting such extensive deposits of loess soil, a fine silt-like sediment created by the accumulation of dust carried by the wind. This soil is crucial for agriculture as it fosters fertility and serves as a record of historical climate conditions.

The Loess Hills National Scenic Byway stretches for 200 miles, connecting Sioux City, IA, to St. Joseph, MO. Along this route, travelers can enjoy a diverse landscape filled with wildlife, agricultural fields, wooded hills, expansive grasslands, and a variety of prairie plants.

Just 4.5 miles away, Lewis and Clark State Park is situated at Blue Lake, a short drive from Onawa. This park is perfect for boating enthusiasts and those interested in history, featuring the only life-sized replica of Lewis and Clark’s keelboat, Discovery.

Preparation Canyon State Park, located 18 miles away in Moorhead, IA, spans 4,068 acres and includes a lake ideal for kayaking and public fishing. The Loess Hills Scenic Overlook, found on the northern edge of the park, offers one of the most stunning views in the area, showcasing the beauty of forests, prairies, the Missouri River bottomlands, and the Nebraska plains, making it a fantastic spot for picnicking.

There are more than 12,000 acres of public hunting land in the vicinity, providing some of the finest opportunities for whitetail and turkey hunting found anywhere in the Midwest.

At this time, there is no outdoor furniture at the property, but there will be in the near future. The scenery outdoors is beautiful and it’s a peaceful and serene place to enjoy the views, so please feel free to bring your own chairs/furniture and enjoy some time outdoors.

Make sure to bring some food and beverages for your visit, but don't worry—there will be some bottled water and condiments available for you. If you need anything else, there's a grocery store, as well as, a Dollar General nearby.

table are available also. Picnic table on deck is great if you want to eat outside and the firepit is a great gathering spot for everyone. No parking off driveway, without permission.

When you walk in you will see the gathering area of the dining Area with a large flat screen TV, living room with a large flat screen TV, fully functioning kitchen for creating your favorite meal and a sitting area next to the kitchen for enjoying your morning coffee. The bedrooms feature comfort plush mattresses and linens. Oversize bath towels enough for each guest.

The property includes 2 acres. Smart TV’s so you can access Hulu, Netflix and other popular services. No regular cable. We do have WI-FI now! Starlink has super fast service. You can make calls through Wi-Fi if your service allows it. We are located 12 miles from Onawa. minutes away from Preparation Canyon State Park, 20 minutes from Blue Lake. Home is located near over 12,000 public hunting acres offering the best whitetail and turkey hunting in the Midwest.

We supply firewood for the outdoor firepit. Toilet paper, paper towels, hand and dish soap are provided but shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion are not. We do not allow pets in this home or in the garage. They may be kept outside. Renter is responsible for waste removal and any damage the pet causes.

A little bit about our area:

The Loess Hills are a unique geographical formation that are composed of fine ground wind blown silt from glacier deposits. As the glaciers melted, the Missouri Valley flooded with enormous amounts of water. Each winter, the waters froze, and large areas of sediments were left exposed to the wind and blew to the East and deposited in the dune like hills, you will see.

Preparation Canyon offers a lake for kayaking and public fishing. The Overlook on the north edge provides an amazing view as well as hike. This is also a great picnic spot.

The Loess Hills Scenic Byways are 200 miles of paved highway where you can see wildlife, prairie plants and hills.

Lewis and Clark State Park is located at Blue Lake, west on Onawa. A great place for boating or learning a little bit of history.

Towels and bedding and plates/ glasses/ silverware is provided. Please bring food and supplies for your stay. Grocery store in Onawa 12 miles away or a small gas station is located in town.
