- "I am obsessed with the property and the bus! My husband and I stayed for a night with our three toddlers while taking a night off from section hiking the AT. We all slept in the king bed in the back which was INSANELY comfortable. The hosts are a super sweet little family. Our laundry was done for a small fee very quickly. Communication with the hosts was excellent. They provided so much helpful information on local places to visit for after our hike. The communal glamping bathroom was the nicest bathroom I’ve ever seen at a campsite. A toilet is inside the bus only to be used during bad weather or at night for guest convenience. The property is green and gorgeous, has a little creek on it. There is a grill under a gazebo and the hosts provide propane at no additional cost. We were able to grill hot dogs. The kids LOVED the bus. Also the main house where you check in is STOCKED with little snacks, ice cream, food you can heat up, and other little conveniences available for purchase. All the other structures on the property are adorable! For us the only potential issue was that the door locks on the inside, but unlocks easily with turning the knob. Totally fine if you have older kids or adults. If you have crazy toddlers there’s a potential escape hazard there. But we just barricaded the way out with our bags so it was fine. I would stay there every night if we could! I hope we get to stay again. "

Enjoy a cozy experience at this centrally-located place. Walk to downtown Sylva markets, bars, shops, and drive 5 minutes to the river, or 15 to get on the parkway. Studio is one big room with a full kitchen, full size bathroom, private entrance going downstairs (with window wells), and lots of parking. Pets are welcome.

The space
This is an apartment that enters from the side street (BEACON DRIVE); you walk up three stairs and then down to the basement apt. We have 2 rescue dogs inside the gate who do bark sometimes (if they are out) but they love people. Parking is across the street from the house. You can easily park 2-3 vehicles. We do welcome animals! There are cats around, and you are welcome to bring your pet as long as you adhere to the local by-laws (leash and pick up). The house overlooks the little town, and is perfect for those who want to walk the library stairs or drive 15 minutes to WCU or the parkway.

You have a studio, with kitchen, private entrance, and bathroom with shower and lots of storage for your clothing. The laundry is off limits unless you are staying for more than a week.

This one bedroom, one full bath apartment in Hayesville, NC is a hidden treasure tucked away in a bucolic setting with beautiful views of the Smokies. It is a perfect getaway for 1-2 people complete with an open kitchen/dining/living area. Whether you need time away, you're attending an event nearby, or you're planning on participating in some outdoor adventures, this apartment, situated on a 19 acre farm, is easy to get to, and you can park just a few feet from the door.

The space
The apartment is part of a separate building that contains a workshop, office, and workout area. Although we may access these areas from time to time, your space is sealed off. The location of the building is near a pond that is fed by one of two creeks on the property. Adjacent to the pond is a covered patio and a fire pit that you are free to use and enjoy. The property sits on a quiet 19 acre farm that contains plenty of space to explore. Lake Chatuge is nearby, and we are about a 20 minute drive to the John C Campbell Folk School in nearby Brasstown, for those looking for a place to stay while taking one of their week long classes.

Guest access
Guests will have access to the apartment and the grounds immediately surrounding the building including around the pond, creeks, covered pavilion, and fire pit. Our house up on the hill is off limits and depending on the time of your year, the pasture areas across from one of our two creeks may be off limits. We ask that guests avoid trying to access the other rooms in the same building, the barn, garden, or other structures on the property. If you need access to an area to do Yoga, we do have a room that can be made available.

Other things to note
Please note that we do currently raise chickens on the property and do have a garden in the spring, summer, and fall so you will hear us moving about from time to time. We will try to allow you peace but please note that we will need to access the workshop adjacent to the apartment. We will make every attempt to give you as much peace and quiet as possible.

Our small rustic cottage is 2 miles from the Nantahala Outdoor Center. Bryson City is 20 minutes drive. Fontana Lake and pontoon boat rentals are 15-minutes away. The Upper Nantahala (for fly fishermen) is 15-minutes away. The Lower Nantahala, Snowbird, Buffalo Creek, Little Tennessee, and other well known fishing opportunities. The Appalachian Trail is within walking distance. The Cottage is on a dead-end county road.

The cottage is small but has everything you might need. We are upgrading the space over time and have just added new outdoor furniture, futon, and bedding.

Other things to note
I live at the top of a steep driveway on a gravel road. I’ve had no problem getting around in my Honda Civic but if you aren’t used to driving rural mountainous roads you’ll want to take it slow.
