- "Fabulous house beautiful location so very peaceful owner very welcoming and the house is lovely lots of space will definitely be back" - "A private, spacious property in a beautiful location. Everything was there that we needed for a fantastic and relaxing holiday. Definitely recommend taking you breakfast up to the private garden for the fresh air, peace and quiet and stunning views. Yes there is a short, very steep hill, but worth it! Beds were comfy and plenty of storage. Everything was there that we needed, including a small amount of dish washer tabs and washing up supplies. Very thoughtful to supply a jug of fresh milk so we could have a cupa on arrival. Owner communication was excellent via email and a welcome on arrival. Perfect location for walking into Porthmadog. Yes hilly and steps in places but my children (7+10) and their grandad (72) managed it with ease. I would highly recommend the walk to Borth Y Guest and beyond! We took a back pack with a picnic and continued past the village to explore all the bays along the coastal path, all the way up to the end of Black Rock Sands. Just stunning, my favourite day! A couple of useful things to note for those with younger children, which didnt effect us, because ours are older. The twin room is up its own staircase and does not ajoin the upstairs double. The bathroom is on the ground floor off the kitchen. If you have little ones, you could easily keep an eye on them with a baby monitor in this case. For me it would have been useful to know in advance as it doesn't seem to be stated on the propert description. And yes there are spiders, because its a barn conversion, but there was also plenty of long brushes / dusters in the cleaning cupboard so they can be easily moved. We didnt mind at all, most were high up in the beautiful vaulted ceiling spaces. Overall we loved the property and the location and would definitely book it again! Thank you to Gwyn."

Easy to get up into the mountains, to the coast, and to Portmeirion. The host, Sarah, was very helpful and hospitable. Would thoroughly recommend this accommodation." - "The cottage is very well equipped and has a fenced up garden, so our miniature poodle was happy to stay outside. The location is perfect to do many beautiful walks in the hills and the sea shore. There are a few beaches nearby and they were great, too. We also found an amazing Vegan restaurant, the Eating Gorilla which was 5 minutes walk from the cottage. We never tried vegan food before but their food was so tasty and satisfying, so we visited them three times during our stay. It’s shame that the weather wasn’t so good, but probably it’s same wherever you stayed in the UK and at least it wasn’t super hot! Thank you, Sarah, for your hospitality."

- "We had a great trip exploring the beautiful coastline and Snowdonian countryside. Once we’d enjoyed exploring we could head back and relax over dinner using the well equipped kitchen and roomy living space in our accommodation. We did notice the loo is pretty small, my husband managed ok at 6 foot but it might be a bit too cosy for some." - "After travelling for 8 hours from West Sussex to North Wales, we finally reached our destination, Canol Cae Cottage in Penrhyndeudraeth. We were greeted by our host, Sarah, who welcomed us and showed us around our accomodation which we booked for 2 nights. Jasmine is a lovely 1 bedroom cottage will everything you could wish for. Very spacious ( apart from the toilet ), comfy and clean. Had a shared patio and garden which was ideal for our dog. Location was good with plenty of pubs, take aways and shops within a 10 minute walk, and only a 10 minute drive to the main town of Porthmadog. We were spending the day at Zip World near Bangor, which is only an hour away, but the journey was worth it just for the scenery. - "My only request was to have been told about the extra cost of hiring linen and the time the booking was made - but maybe I missed that. Coming from the USA I’ve never experienced that before and obviously we didn’t bring linen with us. I am grateful the host reached out and asked us about it. Wonderful position, cute village. Do visit Portmerion and take the old steam train ride. " - "Nice apartment, spoilt by terrible bedding and poor communication from owners.Apartment is newly decorated and clean, but lounge area very small, just ok for 2. Nice sunny balcony, no table for eating outside. Had to chase for check in details and then again for key code on arrival.Bedding was dreadful - smelt musty, tatty old mismatched duvet and pillow with stains and rip. Luckily we had our own with us as had stayed elsewhere beforehand. Owner said cleaner had put their bedding on in error, rather than guest bedding and cancelled bedding charge. However, the whole experience of having to remove everything and seeing the marked mattress cover made it all feel very 'unsavoury' and unclean. To top it all we then accidently left our expensive pillows behind and had to chase again for responses from the owners regarding retrieving them. Eventually they said they were lost."

- "We would 100% recommend anyone to stay at this property. We were a party of 11 ranging in ages from 4 weeks old to mid-60s, and had the most wonderful time. The Chapel has been renovated to the highest standard. It is absolutely beautiful, full of original features, and beautiful new additions. Each room has been so well thought out. The beds were so comfortable, the numerous bathrooms were luxurious and immaculate. The electric velux windows were a lovely addition... to wake up to the sunshine without even leaving your bed. Downstairs, the large, double-height living room has everything you need: log burning fire, large sofas, games and books aplenty, large TV, and views out to the patio, hot tub, and Snowdonia beyond. The huge dining table is fit for a grand feast, and the stunning kitchen was equipped with everything you could ever need to cook anything you could think of! I've never seen such a fantastically stocked hire property before. Towels, linens, cleaning supplies, great utility room... it's all there! Communication with the owners was great too. They sent a very thorough property and local area guide with everything we needed to know and more. It was incredibly useful! I also text them on the first day with a small query, and they were quick to respond. Very helpful Location wise, you can't get better. Easy to find, minutes from Porthmadog, Portmeirion, Snowdonia, numerous shops, takeaways, restaurants, a petrol station, the beach. We're already planning another visit. Just need to decide whether we want to enjoy the Hot Tub and panoramic views of Snowdonia in the summer or winter next time!"

- "We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful little house. There were lots of amenities, hand soap, washing liquid, etc etc. And although there was a dishwasher, there wasn’t a washing machine. Clearly mentioned in the listing but I hadn’t noticed. The place was so clean and cute and the garden was immaculate. We loved sitting outside and enjoyed the sunshine. The beach was either up the hill (beyond beautiful with coves and sandy remote spots) or down the hill to the quayside with a lovely cafe and a short walk into Porthmadog. Lots of supermarkets and a few restaurants and pubs. We also went to an awesome ZipWire place an hour away. The parking space behind was good but not for an unconfident parker. The bathroom was downstairs and the sofa not very comfy. The WiFi was also good. My partner needed to work from home so this was import. I was honestly blown away by the surrounding beauty of the place. "

Rhydwenfa is ideally situated on a quiet street in the centre of the bustling Victorian harbour town of Porthmadog.
Porthmadog is located to the east of the popular Llyn Peninsular and adjacent west of the Snowdonia National Park in North West Wales. It is a popular tourist town with an impressive marina situated on the Glaslyn Estuary. Porthmadog is rich in maritime history and in times gone by, it was a vital, busy shipping port for the international slate trade, brought down from Blaenau Ffestiniog. Both the Welsh Highland Railway and Ffestiniog Railway can be boarded at Porthmadog.
Porthmadog has an wide range of cafes, shops and pubs.
A short 15 minute walk along the coastal path to the west takes you to the lovely village of Borth y Gest. This pretty unspoilt village has retained its Victorian charm with colourful terraced houses fronting onto a horseshoe-shaped promenade that skirts the perimeter of this sheltered bay where small boats are moored. Amenities in the village include two tea rooms, and a wonderful bistro restaurant all of which overlook the harbour.
Several beautiful beaches are within easy reach. Borth y Gest beach is within a 20 minute walk, whilst Black Rock Sands is a short drive away.
Further afield are the attractive towns of Criccieth, Beddgelert, Harlech, Pwllheli, Nefyn and Abersoch.

- "Convenient location, clean, spacious, good communication with owner. Thsnk you" - "I cannot say enough good things about Janes’s house. It is newly renovated and beautifully decorated. Beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. Location was within walking distance to restaurants. Jane was in constant communication with us. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again. " - "Excellent property, very clean, outstanding kitchen with plenty crockery, cutlery and equipment. We didn't use the utility room as we only there for a weekend. Property on a narrow road so parking for 6 cars was a bonus. Very close to High street, plenty small shops, excellent chippy and pubs. The owner contacted us in the middle of storm Darragh, which was appreciated. Wouldn't hesitate to book again"

There are 2 bedrooms on the first floor. A good sized king room (with the views) and then a smaller king room to the front of the house (street view). Please note that the king bed in this bedroom room is pushed up against the wall, so this particular bedroom may not suit everyone in your group.

The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Steam Railways can be boarded in Porthmadog. Or alternatively you can watch the steam trains chug backwards and forwards from the comfort of your own sofa. You can easily spot the steam trains from Ty Harbwr as they travel along the Cob, which is a man-made causeway built in 1811 across the Afon Glaslyn Estuary.
Further afield, Porthmadog is only a stones throw from the spectacular Snowdonia National Park and all the activities on offer. It is equally perfectly positioned for all the amazing beaches that can be found all along the beautiful Llyn Peninsula and Cambrian Coast. The beaches of Black Rock Sands, Harlech, Criccieth, Abersoch etc etc, all of which are all within an easy drive.
Other things to note
***** Please note that as Ty Harbwr is a terraced house, located in a quiet area with neighbours either side. Unfortunately we can only accept bookings from quiet family groups or mature/sensible groups of friends. Loud music, partying and drunken behaviour is strictly prohibited. The outside patio area must also be vacated by 9pm at the latest. Sorry :<(
We welcome one or two well behaved dogs, although we ask that dogs are strictly not allowed upstairs (we provide a stairgate) or on the furniture.
If you bring a dog, an additional cleaning charge of £35 is applied to the cost of the holiday. Thank you.
Easy, unrestricted on-street parking can be found on Garth Road, directly outside Ty Harbwr. At busy times you may have to park further up Garth Road. Alternatively there are many car parks within easy walking distance of Ty Harbwr.
