Even when the nights are cool and crisp, our deck and yard are set up for your enjoyment. With a gas fire-pit in the yard, gas BBQ on the deck, plenty of extra blankets, and several seating options you can settle in for quiet evenings in the fresh air, throughout fall and early winter months.

Downstairs you'll find a kitchen with everything needed to cook complete meals, plus a comfortable living room & dining setup. There's a bedroom with king bed, walk-in closet and dedicated workspace downstairs, plus full bath and laundry. Upstairs you'll find a spacious bedroom with 2 queen beds, huge closet, porta-crib and dog beds which you can use, plus attached bathroom with shower.

55" smart TVs in the living room and the upstairs bedroom will keep everyone entertained when outdoors adventures wrap up. The Wi-Fi is fast enough to stream or work-from-cabin too.

Access to the cabin is super-easy: level and flat entrance from the county road, plus parking for up to 3 cars just steps from the front porch. We have a small deck with seating and a Charbroiler gas bbq. Patio furniture, Adirondack chairs, a gas fire-pit and a redwood picnic table give you numerous options for how and where to enjoy the property.

Guest Access:
You'll access the cabin with a smart-lock. We'll send you the code and wifi password before you arrive. The entire cabin and yard is yours to enjoy! Keep in mind that you're in the mountains and weather, critters and terrain can surprise you at any time - even in the fenced yard area. Don't leave children or pets unattended, please.

The Neighborhood:
Quiet forested mountain neighborhood at 5000' elevation. Easy access from Hwy 4 east of Dorrington, just minutes away from high alpine adventures year around.

Getting Around:
Parking for the cabin is off-street, we have a level and driveway with easy access from the county road. Plow services throughout the winter help maintain access.

Snow and ice: at 5000' we can get snow and/or freezing temperatures any time between October and May. During the winter it is best to always carry chains and come up in an all-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive vehicle with all-season or snow tires.

Other Things to Note:
You'll lose cell service along Hwy 4 most of the way from Murphy's to the cabin. **Be sure to download your check in instructions before you lose service**

Interaction with Guests:
As hosts we are available (remotely) to provide support or answer questions most days 7am - 8pm. We have local cleaners and support personnel in the event of something seriously wrong and will do our best to remedy any situation that impacts your stay. Generally, the cabin creates a very independent experience for guests who enjoy an escape to the mountains.

- "Cabin is located in Dorrington about 10 minutes from the State Park entrance. Area is super quiet, Cabin was very clean, we used the kitchen for breakfast only as we were out for most of the day hiking and sightseeing. WiFi worked great, if that’s important. The stairs to access the cabin are steep, so if you have knee issues or not in at least average physical shape climbing the stairs might be an issue. Wish we would’ve known but if you take the road that keeps going past the turn off to the cabin, you’ll reach the Stanislaus River in about 10 minutes, very beautiful scenic short drive that we found the last day we were there."

There is a large wraparound deck outside of this beautiful property which boasts spectacular views. On the deck, we provide a hammock, dining table for 6-8 people to relax with a morning coffee or a book outdoor. There is also a five burner gas barbecue to cook delicious meals.

Guests are not required to bring basic soaps, firewood, a hairdryer, laundry soap, shampoo, toilet roll, paper towels, linen, or towels as these are very kindly provided by the host. Local maps and restaurant guides are also provided to guests upon arrival.

Even the most design-oriented guests will be spoiled in this getaway, as the wood stove creates a classic centerpiece for the main room and is backed by floor-to ceiling windows that allow an abundance of natural light to flood into the space. Fresh air won't be hard to come by, as a spacious deck awaits with a table set for four to enjoy morning cups of coffee or evening cocktails as the sun goes down. When you work up an appetite after a day of hiking nearby, the full kitchen with well stocked pantry is more than ready to assist in preparing tasty recipes with a full-size fridge, an electric stove/oven, and a microwave oven. Or if you'd like there is a gas grill available. Plus, the free WiFi and flatscreen TV will be perfect for entertaining. Though this home is perfectly secluded to give you some much needed privacy, you will have easy access to Highway 4, Calaveras Big Trees State Park, North Fork of Stanislaus River, Bear Valley Ski Resort, and several snow parks. Parking Notes:
There is space for 1 vehicle parking during the winter season and 2 vehicles for the rest of the year.

WINTER Preparedness:
The cabin has a steep driveway, and can be slippery during the winter. We provide partial snow removal services for the driveway and make every attempt to have the driveway plowed prior to your stay. However, the main highway and roads are maintained by CalTrans and the county. It can result in some delays for private snow removal companies to access the house. 4X4 vehicle and/or tire chains will be required during winter. It is highly recommended to have access to offline maps for directions in the event of power outages causing loss of internet connection. Snow shovels are provided and available by the entrance to the cabin for guests to access the front door and the deck safely. During snow season, street parking is not permitted. Doing so may put your vehicles at risk of being damaged by the snow plow or risks being towed. For up to date road/traffic conditions, pls refer to Cal Trans Website.

Checkout Instructions;
-Turn off all lights/AC/Central Heat(For the HVAC in main level bedroom - use the HVAC remote located on the wall- IMPORTANT), stove, oven, grill.
-Empty all trash including compost, recyclables. Place all trash in bear box located at the end of the driveway. Secure/lock bear box after trash drop off. Raise the red signal flag.
-Lock all doors including access to the house from the deck.

Winter Additional Check out Requirement;
Due to recent low temperature and frozen pipes;
1. Turn off the main water valve located at the right front of the house underneath a wood block.
2. Turn on the bathroom faucet, shower, and kitchen faucets. Flush the toilet until the reservoir is nearly empty.
3. Pour a few ounces of antifreeze (located underneath the kitchen sink) into each sink, the toilet, and the shower drain.
