Wooded Retreat is a private studio apartment separate from main house, surrounded by trees and nature. Sitting on your deck you feel as though you in the trees. Watch deer, wild turkeys and rascally squirrels working feverishly gathering pine nuts!! Please feel free to explore the grounds. Walk in the woods, or sit on our man made beach, around the fire pit watching the sunset! Take a nap or read a book from the library on the hammock. Only spaces we prefer you not explore are the garage and main house & deck please and thank you. We have two mountain bikes, and for winter we have two snow sleds ( see pics) available for our guests to use at no extra charge. You must however have a truck or proper restraint system for transporting them. We are approximately 10 min. to Twain Harte, 12 min. to Sonora, 15 min..To Jamestown, Columbia State Park and Airport, 30 min. To Pinecrest Lake and Dodge Ridge Ski Resort depending on weather and road conditions. Phoenix Lake Golf course is a beautiful 9 hole course a very short 1/2 mile from our property, perfect for hitting a quick bucket of balls! We have numerous lakes, hiking/biking trails, and we are approximately 1 hour to the gate of Yosemite National Park.

- "Great cabin!" - "Forest and Ginger's cabin behind their house is a beautiful retreat for vacation. My partner and I stayed in the cabin during our visit to Yosemite; it's about an hour drive to the western park entrance, and about two hours from the cabin to the Yosemite Valley. The cabin itself is very well maintained and has everything you need (outside of an oven/range, but the owners have a nice gas grill outside for your use). We enjoyed walking around Sonora during our day off from hiking and had breakfast at Bon Appetit multiple times (excellent French pastries, quiche, and crepes). Overall, we highly recommend!"

The Bauman House is a circa 1910 bungalow within less than a 5 minute walk to downtown Sonora, CA. This town has a lot of history, great shops, delicious food, hikes, and more.

The home offers the following rooms & amenities:

3 bedrooms - 2 queen beds & 1 double bed. Each bed has a Tuft & Needle medium mattress, mattress cover, medium pillows with protectors and cases, duvet with cover, quilt & throw. There is a closet in every room and a dresser in two of the three rooms.

2 Bathrooms - One bathroom has a shower, toilet, sink, clawfoot tub. The other bathroom has a shower, toilet & sink. Both bathrooms come with towels.

Kitchen - fully stocked with everything you should need to cook a meal. Plates, bowls, drinking glasses, wine glasses, champagne glasses, blender, toaster, stove/oven, fridge, dishwasher, baking dishes, and more.

Sonora is a unique gold rush era town with lots of history and interesting things to see. Sonora is also a convenient base to explore nearby places such as Yosemite, Pinecrest, Columbia State Park, Big Trees, Natural Bridges... and so much more. This property has a separate entrance. Owners live upstairs but the layout of the house is such that there will be no contact. Of course, owners are available if needed. Bed is a Cal King and you have access to a small yard.

It was less than 5 minutes walk from the main street, easy to find, and plenty of parking. The property was the perfect size for two people. We really liked that the kitchen was separate from the sleeping/living room area. Everything was updated - light fixtures, plumbing, appliances, bathroom. The kitchen had everything we needed. The added plus was the Roku/Hulu. We just logged into our Roku account from the tv and watched our shows as if at home. Mark was also great at communicating with us. Answered my questions and the whole checkin/out process was super easy. Overall, will rebook again when next time in town."

We are right next to a busy intersection, with a walk to downtown! We do have a shared driveway. If you prefer to try to park in the driveway. PLEASE respect the neighbors and park on our side of the driveway. There is a line down the driveway, so make sure you car is on our side of the line.

Come get cozy in our private home. The home is an extension to the home we live in so we are close for convenience if necessary but have a separate entrance and parking for our guests and there is no sound travel.. Home is on 6 acres to enjoy the field if you want to walk around or enjoy outside with your morning coffee. We are close to Dodge Ridge Ski resort, Pinecrest Lake for hiking and calm lake activities, and world renowned Yosemite National Park. If you want to venture out to the Historic town of Murphy's for magnificent wine tastings with multiple vineyards and eateries as well. Stay for a night or stay for awhile. Welcome to our home and get comfortable! This is a smoke free home. Even though we do not allow events if you are a girls or guys weekend or coming to the area as a bachelor or Bachelorette party you are welcome to stay here to be close to your planned activities!

We are at 3200 elevation and do get snow fall. Please be sure to have an adequate vehicle in the event that their is snow. We are not responsible for the plowing of the roads leading to the home. We have a generator to run the home but Microwave and over will kick off generator. Stove top will still work and so will TV and internet. The generator is noisy so I cannot guarantee silence without turning off power source which is against hosting rules and guidelines. During the summer and fall months PG&E turns off power to help prevent fires. The generator situation will apply to these events as well. Turn on and off time between generator and PG&E power is about 3 minutes. Guests vehicles are not permitted past the guest parking sign unless prior arrangements are made for bigger vehicles or pulling of a trailer or boat which we can accommodate.

- "This property is very far from the highway, To me this unit is not quite ready for the guest, the entrance so confusing no sign or house number visible to the guest outside the unit. The entrance to the unit is through the back bathroom door. Cleanliness is ok. No sink in the kitchen you have to walk to the back side of the house to wash your dishes, sleeps eight no living room for all them. Couch sits two person. The the only plus my daughter love the the loft small bedroom it’s very cute. The unit not quite finish there were smear of paint all over the the place and some wall molding are peeling off they just tape it to stay. Very nice view in the front of the bay window but blocked by the fencing and tape they put around the small swimming pool. But if you love to see deers there’s plenty here we can see them running around when we are in our car."

Basically the bathroom looked like it hasn’t been cleaned for months. No instructions on how to use TV or WiFi. Had to ask the host for every little thing. Reached out to the host about the condition of the place and he was very dismissive. If I can put zero rating I would. Don’t rent this place!" - "The only way the host would respond is when I contacted VRBO. The property was so filthy I wouldn't even bring my luggage into it. VRBO did NOTHING for me. I had to reverse the charges with my credit card, which they did after I showed them the awful pictures of the place. I will not consider VRBO again."

- "Beautiful location. Comfortable property. Great communication from manager." - "The home itself is nicely renovated & in a great location. Unfortunately housekeeping standards are super low & the property manager is defensive & unhelpful. Upon arrival we emailed her regarding the mess we found including food spilled in the kitchen drawers, dirty cookware, dishes, & utensils, food on the carpet & furniture, stained towels, sheets, & bedspread. There was also an animal dropping under master bed & trash under dressers & on the side of the bunkbed. Property manger sent housekeeping the next morning with more stained sheets & towels. Unfortunately I did not think to call VRBO while we were there as I thought local property manager could take care of it. She did not & said replacements were adequate. They were gross! VRBO was not able to help after stay ended even though they asked property manager to at least refund housekeeping fee. No refund was given. VRBO said they would try to contact owner, but I've waited over a month now without response. Hopefully the owner sees this review & finds a new property manger or at least insists on a new housekeeping service."

The space
You’ll have full access to the home and yard, (other than 2 private host’s rooms).

You will be a short drive to many attractions (professional theaters, Black Oak Casino, dancing, hikes, lakes and rivers, winter sports, wine tasting and more).

In the warmer months, enjoy your breakfast and coffee on the back deck, listening to birdsong and taking in the flowers, or laze and read under the trees in the comfortable hammock in the back yard. For those of you who wish to come home and chill after a day of exploring the magic of the Mother Lode, you can relax in the massage chair while enjoying one of the many movie and music channels available.

There is a comfortable queen bed in private room, (and a sound machine), and if you need additional sleeping arrangements, comfortable thick memory foam sleep pads are available.

There is one shallow step onto front porch, and two steps down with a rail into yard from back deck. There is ample street parking available but when host is out of town, guests may use the driveway.

Note: There are 2 friendly short-hair indoor-outdoor cats in residence.

We welcome those of all backgrounds and will do our best to make your visit to the remarkable Mother Lode a comfortable and memorable one.

Your guest bedroom has a comfortable queen-size bed (with memory foam topper), chair, chest-of-drawers, closet, wide-screen HDTV with satellite TV receiver and a DVD player. Free Wi-Fi Internet is accessible from the bedroom. The guest bathroom with shower/bath is adjacent to the bedroom. The side entrance of our house is your private entry to your guest space which is separated from the rest of the house by heavy drapery panels across the hallway. Your parking space is adjacent to the side entry.

Guest access
You, of course, have your guest space all to yourselves. In addition, you can lounge on the decks around the house and wander around the surrounding property. You have kitchen and laundry room privileges and there is also a gas barbecue on the side deck you can use. If watching TV from your guest bed isn't to your liking, you may use the office to watch TV or a DVD movie from our tandem recliner.

During your stay
Jeri and I decided to become Airbnb hosts both for the additional income and for the chance to meet interesting people from around the country and the world. Consequently, we hope you will feel comfortable spending time talking and drinking tea/coffee/beer/wine with us. We are nice people. On the other hand, we appreciate that some will want to enjoy a private, intimate vacation with a minimum of interaction with us --- that's great too!

We're happy and able to provide information and suggestions for activities and dining in our local counties and also for California as a whole.

We have a very friendly dog, Davey Jones, who thinks everyone who comes to our house comes expressly to visit him. We will keep Davey off of you and out of your guest space --- at least after the first hectic minute of your visit. Davey Jones is a lovable, energetic Black Labrador mix.

There is no kitchen sink or stove, no laundry facilities, and no access to the main house. We will take care of your used dishes and utensils daily.
You are welcome to use the deck and patio to enjoy the sunset, marvel at the stars, or enjoy your breakfast.
Pets are welcome, but my yard is not available, so dogs must be walked on the street, which is very quiet. They are welcome to be off leash on the large deck/patio area, which is fully enclosed.
There is a good chance you will see woodpeckers, quail, hummingbirds, hawks, turkey vultures, wild turkeys and our 3 pet goats.
There are lots of shops and restaurants nearby, including Pizza, American, Chinese, Thai, Italian and Mexican restaurants. The closest shops, just 5 mins away, include Starbucks, CVS, TJ Maxx, Kohls, Jack in the Box, and Subway
A few more minutes down the road you will find Safeway, Walmart, Applebees, and many more.
There are great restaurants and wine bars in downtown Sonora. All do take out or delivery.

Guest access
You will have your own entrance to your self contained studio apartment, and use of the deck which has beautiful views day and night.
There is no access to main house or kitchen.
The studio does not have a kitchen, but there is a mini-fridge/freezer, electric kettle to heat water, a coffee maker, a microwave oven, toaster oven and an electric skillet. There's a large patio table and a BBQ grill on the patio outside your door. Propane is provided.
Your bathroom sink is not suitable for washing dishes, so just leave them on the tray in the room (if you are here for just one night), or on the patio table if you are staying longer, and we will take care of all the clean-up: after all, you're on vacation!

Other things to note
Goats; Vanilla, Cocoa, and Cookies 'n' Creme are friendly and love the treats (provided in your room) which they will nibble out of your fingers. They don't bite, but don't put your fingers in their mouths!!!! They love to be petted.
Shake the treat tin and call them shout 'Goats" or call them by name, attract them to the deck, near the patio, and greet them through the bars.
Please don't encourage them to the patio fence.
If you don't see them, let me know and I'll call them for you.
Our dogs are sometimes out and about in the yard. When they see you they will bark and come to the fence. It can seem intimidating but they are actually friendly. I will come get them if they are noisy.

The space
The Buena Vista Foothill Retreat is a newly remodeled quiet studio loft apartment attached to the side of our home on the other side of the garage. It is completely private with your own entrance & patio. From the moment you walk in, you will feel the tranquility of this modern retreat. It has a full kitchen, stocked with light breakfast items, a Keurig coffee maker, fridge, microwave, toaster oven, stove, and all utensils/items that you may need to cook your own meals. The private bathroom has a large beautiful shower with a rain shower head and custom tilework. The main area has a super comfy queen sized bed with mattress topper, a leather futon that can convert into a double bed, awesome retro chair, eating area & work space, and a large screen Smart Interactive TV (you can access your own Netflix/Hulu/HBO GO, etc accounts on it). You have high speed WiFi & internet access. We provide a Bluetooth speaker to connect your music to, and charging cords for phones. Upstairs in the sleeping loft is an additional futon mattress and seating/reading area. From the loft and large windows you can see the lovely views of oak & pine covered hills, watch the numerous deer walk by, and spot the seasonal creek across the street. You can hear the creek from your apartment. Sit outside on the ivy covered patio seating area and watch the numerous woodpeckers, bluejays, hummingbirds, and squirrels under the canopy of the oak trees.
We provide a portable cooler and ice pack for you to use on your adventures while staying with us.
We also have a whole house Generac, so we never lose power, and an EV car charger.

Guest access
You have access to the entryway and back patio, and your studio apartment to yourself. Guests do not have access to our home, yard, or deck.
There are outside cameras. Please only allow the guests previously approved through our conversations to come into the home. Any additional unapproved guests will be charged using your security deposit.

Other things to note
This is a very quiet neighborhood, and our family home. We ask that guests be very considerate of the neighbors, especially when arriving late at night and try to be as quiet as possible.
We also have a friendly dog named Bella. She will stay on her side of the gate, but will likely bark to greet you when she sees you. Feel free to say hi to her if you'd like! Please do not feed her people food!
Absolutely no smoking or vaping inside of the house! You may smoke on the patio only, and may use the ashtray provided to dispose of your cigarette butts. Please please be aware that we live in a heavily wooded and dry area that is extremely prone to wildfires. Use caution when smoking to keep all ashes and butts contained and put out.

Our place is an hour and thirty to Yosemite National Park boundaries & another 30 to Yosemite Valley. Twain Harte and Sonora boast many outstanding restaurants and eateries as well as other activities such as mini golf, gold panning, wine tasting & shopping. We are at 4000' elevation. Snow tires and carry chains in winter. Check weather and plan accordingly.

Guest parking as well as street parking. The cabin is at 4000' & boasts a beautiful mountain view through the trees. You will occasionally catch a glimpse of various wildlife such as deer, wild turkeys, various birds,fox, etc. You have your own private room equipped with 2 locks. Your bedroom window is roughly one story up so there will be adequate privacy for you. You will have shared kitchen access as well as room in the refrigerator for some food you may want bring and cook. Shared living room is downstairs. We have an inviting coffee bar in the shared dining room with hot cocoa, marshmallows, assorted teas as well as coffees to choose from! Keurig & Nespresso are available. You will have your own shared living room downstairs with a 65" smart tv. Your shared full bathroom is downstairs. There is also a half bathroom available across from the laundry room beside the kitchen. Upstairs living room is off limits.

During your stay
We welcome our guests to text or call us with any questions you may have. You're satisfaction and fulfillment is deeply important to us. We want to provide an excellent experience and environment for you. Feel free to let us know if you need anything at all. No parties are permitted on the premises. Quiet hours are 11:00pm to 6:00am.
Linens are sanitized for every guest. There is an extra set of clean bed linens available upon request for long term stays. We also offer different types of pillows for your comfort. Clean, sanitized towels are provided for each guest. We have tried to anticipate your every need but if there's anything we have overlooked please do not hesitate to ask! You may hang clothes on the hooks on your door and there is a coat closet you may use right next to your door.
There is a first aid kit in the top drawer of that coat closet and other items for you too use such as:. Lint remover, pill remover, ironing board, etc. Welcome, relax and enjoy!

Other things to note
Home is at 4000 elevation. Winter driving may require snow tires and chains. Plan accordingly. No weather cancellations. There is no smoking or vaping permitted on the property. There is street and guest parking available. First come first served. Please don't block garage furthest from front door!
Each room has a maximum occupancy of two guests with one queen bed per room. The kitchen is available for use. Please clean up afterwards. We are on a septic system at this cabin. Never flush anything but tissue paper down the toilet! Put everything else in the trash can. Hot water comes out extremely hot so use caution! The back decks are very high from the ground so please be cautious while you are out enjoying them! First aid kit on premises.

Visitors who plan to enter Yosemite National Park between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Memorial Day weekend, any day between June 15 and August 15, or Labor Day weekend are likely to need a reservation. Reservations will be required:
• Between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. over the Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends, from May 24 through May 26, 2025, and from August 30 through September 1, 2025.
• Daily between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. from June 15 through August 15, 2025.
• Reservations will be valid for three consecutive days.
• Visitors without a reservation may enter the park before 6 a.m. or after 2 p.m., or anytime via public transportation on YARTS.
• Visitors with in-park lodging, camping, wilderness, or special use permits do not require an additional reservation. Simply show your reservation or permit at the entrance station and pay the park entrance fee.

The studio includes a microwave, Keurig coffee maker, electric tea kettle and mini fridge for your convenience. There is a cal king bed, comfy queen futon, flat screen TV with Cable, WiFi and a charging station for all your devices.

We are adhering to CDC guidelines on cleaning and sanitation. Everything, including shampoo bottles, light switches, Keurig, refrigerator etc. is cleaned and sanitized with a CDC approved, food safe sanitizer before check-in.

We are located in a residential area and quiet hours are from 10pm to 8am.

Silver Dream is one of five Airstreams that make up the "Airstream Motor Lodge" located in the Gold Rush Mobilehome Park which is near the Columbia State Historic Park in the Gold Country of California. Close by, but not too close, is the Columbia Airport, Columbia College, live theater, shops, schools and restaurants. We are located approx 1 hr 45 mins from Yosemite National Park. We are also 30-40 mins from Ironstone Vineyard and one hour from Pinecrest and Dodge Ridge Ski Resort.

Silver Dream is a refurbished Airstream that was built by Kevin who is a seven-foot tall South Korean who works out of his uncle's factory in Riverside, California. Kevin shared with me that he's traveled to 70% of the USA in RVs that he's built. I asked him how many States he's visited, but he tracked his travel by the percentage of the country he's seen, not by the State. Oh. Okay. Interesting. Anyway, he's a very nice fellow and wow did he do a good job on our precious Silver Dream!

We also have a new dog park where your well behaved pet may be let off their leash to enjoy some nature. Guest are responsible to follow rules. You'll find the dog park while walking around towards the back of our park.

You will see this Airstream has what is called a wet bath. So the whole bathroom is the shower. the sink faucet is your shower head, you pull retractable faucet head out and place in holder on wall. RV living is all about saving space. It's why the call it glamping.

Please read my ENTIRE listing THOROUGHLY before booking for to avoid any misunderstandings or unmet expectations about the space. Very private garden sanctuary setting on one acre of mature oak trees, native and medicinal plants; five minutes from downtown Sonora. Close to wineries, Dodge Ridge, Bear Valley, Yosemite, Black Oak Casino, and many areas to hike and explore on the Hwy 120/108/4 corridors. Room is located downstairs with entry from rear of home. Ample parking for large vehicles.

The space
The saline pool is solar heated ONLY. Depending upon weather, it is generally warm enough to swim from April through October. Please be aware that water chemistry issues and equipment failures with the pool can occur, and that I do my very best to address them promptly, and communicate said issues to my guests ASAP. There are also strict guidelines regarding the use of the pool for health and safety reasons. These are spelled out in my house rules contained in a binder in your private room.

There are past reviews which notate use of the hot tub/spa. Please be aware that the hot tub/spa is NOT available for guest use.

Smoking in designated area OUTDOORS only. If you like crystals, flowers and abundant wildlife you'll love it here! Perfect for a weekend relaxing retreat.

Limited kitchen access. Please communicate at the time of your booking what your kitchen needs are, if any. There is a microwave available for use in your private room.

Ample room in downstairs garage refrigerator for food storage. Bathroom is private (not shared) but directly across the hall from the bedroom. Bathroom is not "en suite". Robes are provided for your comfort.

There is also a "great room" downstairs available for your use complete with Yoga mats!

During your stay
I am self-employed and operate a home office healing center. I am generally at home for my guest check ins, although there is a keybox with code for self check in. I check my messages regularly and respond usually within an hour (or sooner). I respect my guests privacy first and foremost, and only enter the downstairs space if absolutely necessary during a stay. I am certainly happy to chat and offer recommendations for dining and other needs, as I have lived in Sonora for 20 years.

Other things to note
Please be aware that I live upstairs in my home. You will be able to hear me walking through the home during your stay. PLEASE NOTE: There is no interior door which separates the downstairs from the upstairs. There are also times I enter the downstairs for use of the backyard and pool (via the sliding glass door located in the "great room"), and to access the refrigerator located in the garage. I make every effort to grant guests their privacy, however, these areas are listed as "shared" in my listing.

I reserve the right at my discretion to enter either the private room or bath for health or safety reasons.

Availability of the pool is subject to change due to water chemistry issues and unexpected equipment failure.

The queen bed is a futon with a six inch mattress covered with a three inch memory foam pad. The bed is 4.5 feet wide and 6 feet long, which is six inches shorter than a regular queen bed. It is very comfortable, however, if you are very tall or on the large/heavy side it may not work for you. Please take note :)

Lastly, we are currently in the process of remodeling the private bathroom including a new tub enclosure and coat of paint. Aesthetically it is not very pleasing, but is always clean and sanitary. We expect to finish the remodel by the Fall of 2024.

The space
This Studio is the downstairs unit. It is a no smoking and pet free property. Please let us know if you have a service dog. You will be the only guests in the whole place. Upstairs is a small office/storage space that is rarely used. There is a queen size bed, a sitting area, dinette, a small kitchenette with a small fridge/freezer, microwave, Keurig, Brita water pitcher, and a full, beautiful bathroom, and a closet with some hanging storage. The entire unit is newly remodeled. The backyard space has a patio with a bbq, table and chairs with outdoor lighting that is your space alone. The Studio and backyard are for you only. Zero shared space.

You have the entire space to yourself. Self check in. Front door with very small porch area and there is a backdoor with a small alleyway that leads to a small alleyway sidewalk. Back alley is gated but not with a lock.

Other things to note
No designated parking. Street parking only. There are several parking spots located directly across from Bungalow. They are 3 hours limits from 8am-6pm...so if you arrive at 3pm for check in you are good to park in those spots until 11am the following morning. We are right off a busy street so there is consistent street traffic noise. Saturday mornings during Farmers Market can be heavier traffic noise than other days due to its popularity.
