- "We are so happy to have been able to stay in this gem of a house! It's well appointed, nicely decorated, and a is place that we definitely don't want to leave. It's a home the hosts have put a lot of love into. The house is stocked with anything you'd need as well. The location is great - backing onto a walking trail with a small waterfall, and walking distance to downtown Coleman. I wish we had been here in summer to enjoy the back yard, but hopefully will be back in the summer with our family. Kids and teens would enjoy staying here too - there's a foosball table downstairs and lots of games. Corey the host was extremely responsive - checking to make sure everything was okay and answering any questions we had. There was even a bottle of wine, tulips on the table, and a hand written card waiting for us when we arrived! A first for us and we've stayed in many VRBO's throughout the world. As I said at the beginning of this review, this house is a real gem, and Corey the host is amazing to deal with. We'll definitely be back!"

So many viewpoints to just enjoy.Communication was fast and easy with the owners. Would definitely recommend! " - "My entire family were so impressed with our stay at this beautiful cabin oasis with all of the fixings! In our group there were 6 adults, 2 toddlers and 2 doggos and there was plenty of room and space to spare! Seriously, Jodi and Michael have truly thought of everything. Their communication and responsiveness were also top-notch, making our entire experience a seamless process! As a mom of a two-year-old, the basement bedroom was the best home-away-from-home we could have dreamt of. It came complete with a rocking chair, an ensuite bathroom with two entries and was dark/cool for naps and a good night's sleep! All of the other bedrooms in the house were also spacious and had either ensuite or nearby bathrooms. The kitchen area/BBQ on deck were totally perfect for preparing meals and we enjoyed dining together at the massive kitchen table. We spent a lot of time outside enjoying the hot tub, firepit and spacious deck. The theatre room is also a special treat for adults and kids alike. The location is also great since the nearby Beaver Mines Mercantile has all the essentials (and more!) and Pincher Creek is a quick drive away. Waterton was also just a 45-minute scenic drive away. Welcome to Fair Wind Cottage! This cozy, relaxing spot is perfect for a relaxing getaway or for a feel good spot after a day of adventuring! Nestled in the Crowsnest Pass, you are in the perfect location to go hiking, skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, biking, snowmobiling, fishing, and more with most of this just outside our front door! Fancy something more relaxing? Enjoy one of the nearby coffee shops, read a book by the fire, or enjoy our beautiful spacious yard!
The space
Located in the Rocky Mountains Fair Wind Cottage was built in 1908. This home has seen a lot of change throughout the years. It was once the home to a butcher shop (in one of the now garages), and a full bed and breakfast. We are excited to be going back to its bed and breakfast days and hope to host other events in the near future!
The garden suite is a bachelor style suite with a walk-in shower bathroom, queen bed, and small kitchenette. It is attached to the main house but has no interior access to the house. We hope you are able to come and relax in this beautiful space and take advantage of the spacious garden yard finding a spot to read perhaps, or playing games in the gazebo when the weather is warmer!
We know that a day of travelling can be exhausting so we will have some snacks ready for you upon arrival! We do not have cable tv however we offer Disney+, and multiple channels on Roku. We also have a variety of books and magazines for you to read, and board games to play! Don't forget to also explore the large garden like back yard especially in the warmer months! We also have an outdoor firepit that you can use when fires are permitted!
If you require mountain bike, skis, snowboard, etc storage please contact us and we can make arrangements to have a garage space available for you.
*during summer months the fireplace pilot light is turned off as it produces a lot of heat.
Please note we are just over 1 hour from Waterton National Park, 45 minutes to Fernie, 25 minutes to Sparwood. The Crowsnest Pass is comprised of 5 small towns, we are located in Coleman.
Guest access
You will be able to have access to the courtyard, in the warmer months enjoy a meal in the outdoor dining areas, you can also grab a blanket and settle down anywhere in the yard. The gazebo is also available for you to kick back in. Please note that the treehouse is currently unavailable for guests.
Other things to note
Your host team is Mallory and Grace! In 2021 Mallory and her husband Marshall bought this beautiful property for Grace to live in and to see as a place to entertain and create community! Mallory is a mom to 3 young kids and is your behind the scenes host. You will likely see her and her family around doing yard work, playing, or just hanging out at Grandma's house. Grace is someone who you may see throughout your stay. She is the owner of Wild Pies, an amazing hand pie and other yummy treats business that you may be able to experience while you stay with us! Grace will be available on site for you. If you haven't caught on yet, Grace and Mallory are a mom and daughter team and are excited to have you come stay at Fair Wind Cottage!
