Our Creekside cabin is located only minutes from your adventures inside Glacier National Park. The cabin is a scenic 15-minute drive to the west entrance of Glacier National Park and 15 minutes from the town of Columbia Falls. The cabin is also very conveniently located to additional areas of the park, such as Polebridge and Camas Road entrances. Find yourself away from the crowds and in your own private mountain retreat with a natural cascading creek in your own backyard. Let the sounds of the creek lull you to sleep. The Creekside cabin is nestled among cedar, birch and larch treetops for complete privacy and seclusion. Just a small walk to the local mountain lake to paddleboard, kayak or canoe. Personal flotation devices are not provided, please rent locally or bring your own.

Once you step inside this newly built single level 1200sq foot cabin, the cozy comforts of home will invite you to relax and unwind. The perfect-sized kitchen greets you with all you will need to prepare that home cooked meal or a picnic lunch on the go. Should you wish to dine inside or outside, the cabin offers comfortable dining areas for four guests to enjoy a meal or playful game of cards. Should you wish to prepare your meal outside, you will find a full-size gas grill waiting to prepare your best grilled dish.

Creekside cabin sleeps a max total of 4 guests and is ideal for two couples or a family of four. (13-year-old children minimum age required, not ideal home for younger children).

Should the activities of your adventures leave you needing to replenish the suitcase, Creekside cabin offers a large laundry room with full-size washer and dryer to accommodate your needs.

Easy to find, this is a great home base for hiking, biking, rafting, fishing, paddling, Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, and alpine skiing, just for starters. The Flathead Valley offers a wealth of theater, music and special community events all year long.
Make coming home something to look forward to after an incredible day of exploring and recreating in Glacier National Park and the Flathead Valley. Creekside cabin was designed and built for a secluded feeling, yet convenient hideaway for guests to relax and enjoy their time together amidst the beauty of nature.

Creekside cabin requires guest to be 21 years and up to reserve and not suitable for children under the age of 13 years.

If renting with us in the winter months: November - April, we do recommend 4wd or AWD vehicles for the area.

The two acre- property is nestled on the corner next to an 800 acre, fourth-generation family farm. The Red Barn is adjacent to our home and is located off a quiet country road. From the large private deck you can enjoy excellent wildlife and bird viewing including large herds of whitetail and mule deer grazing, wild turkeys, geese, and songbirds. Swans and bald eagles frequent the area as well. The farm is also home to an occasional moose, elk, bear, fox, coyote, and mountain lion. The deck is also the best view of the beautiful mountain waterfall in addition to views of the entire Swan Mountain Range and the Badrock Canyon leading to Glacier National Park.
While tucked away next to the farm at the base of the mountain, our location has convenient, easy access to everything the Flathead Valley has to offer. Driving times to local hot spots make this the perfect lodging option:

The cabin is located on Spoon Lake, right off the North Fork Road and only a few minutes from the western park boundary. Our location offers convenient access to all the hiking, fishing, rafting and recreational spots along the North Fork of the Flathead River. From your base at Aspen Shores Cabin you can set out and explore. Hike the national park trails and take in the stunning beauty of Kintla and Bowman Lakes in the less traveled portion of the park. From highway 2, you can reach Apgar Village at the main west entrance to Glacier National Park. From there, drive the spectacular "Going to the Sun" road to Logan Pass where mountain goats roam free.

Aspen Shores Cabin is conveniently located 15 minutes from the town of Columbia Falls. Explore, shop or dine in the quintessential western town of Kalispell, just 25 miles away, and enjoy the charm and culture of Whitefish only 18 miles away. Flathead Lake, the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi, is just 35 miles to the south.

Back at Aspen Shores Cabin the pace can slow, allowing all your cares to melt away. The peaceful waters of Spoon Lake are a perfect setting with no motorboats or jet skis to disturb the wildlife. We focus on the outdoor experience and our cozy cabin provides the opportunity to come close together as family and friends. You can cook in the easy access kitchen while you watch the activities on the lake. Barbecue on the gas grill or warm yourself and play games in front of the elegant Waterford gas stove after a fine day of hiking, shopping or exploring. Climb the stairs/ladder to the cozy bedroom complete with king bed and two twin beds, or open the queen sleeper sofa in the living room and sleep right in front of the glowing fire. On warm days let the breeze blow through and smell the mountain air, or use the upstairs air conditioner for sleeping comfort.

Enjoy lower rates by booking stay dates in May or early June as well as September and October. These times offer a quieter and slower paced experience by avoiding the crowds of the peak season. In the spring you can catch hungry fish and watch as the wildlife emerges from the long winter. In the fall enjoy the colors of the turning tamarack trees while watching the wildlife prepare for the coming winter.

Thank you for sharing your piece of paradise with us! We are a family of 5 (2 teens and a 12 year old). The cabin was perfect. We spent time both in the park (mostly West side) and here on the lake. The kids loved to swim and paddle around the lake! We saw one of the loons floating along from the porch one day! Going to the sun Road was open, and we loved it! We were above to hike Avalanche Lake, visit Lake McDonald and stop at many of the spectacular falls and vistas along the way. We hiked on snow packed ground in our shorts and T shirts at Logan’s Pass. There were people sledding, skiing and building snowmen. Some who were in flip flops or sandals were regretting it, though. The weather has been beautiful (75-85 degrees) and no rain. We are headed to the East side today to stay at a cabin. We hope to visit Two Medicine, Many Glacier, and St. Mary’s. Thank you again!

We had a great time here at the cabin. We were impressed at how well stocked the cabin was. Even bear spray! Wow! The loons were great fun to watch and the kids loved the rowboat. It was wonderful to have a comfy place to come to after a rainy hike. We didn’t see much wildlife on this trip. There was a bald eagle flyover at Lake McDonald, a few other birds, but not much else. I was impressed that you had filed guides and binoculars. This was such a calm, peaceful place. We didn’t want to leave.

This newly built (2020) cozy studio cabin is surprisingly affordable for the amenities you will find. Unwind after a day of hiking, boating, horseback riding, or any of the other outdoor activities the Flathead Valley has to offer. Only 16 miles from the West entrance to Glacier National Park. Cabin D has an efficiency kitchen with microwave, mini fridge, 2-burner hot plate, sink, dishes, and pots & pans. The open living area has a queen bed, love seat, TV, dresser, and a compact kitchen. There is also a private bathroom with a shower. Linens are provided for the bed, bathroom and kitchen.

They have thought of everything and if you’re missing something they have it at the cabin. We will definitely stay again!" - "We enjoyed our stay at Cabin D. It was very close to Glacier National Park which was a perk. It only took us 20-25 mins to get to the west entrance from the cabin. I will say I was a little surprised when I got there that it’s set up similar to a duplex. There’s a thin wall with a locked door separating the two cabins and you could easily hear voices through the wall which voices are easy to tune out, loud clunking isn’t. It wasn’t a huge deal because we were only there to sleep but just be mindful of the shared wall. It’s easy to be loud when someone may be trying to sleep. Overall, we were pleased with our stay. It was very clean, everything you could need was provided, and it was in a perfect location to rest your head at night."

Our VRBO apartment is approximately 952 sf in the daylight basement of a 3-story cabin featuring beautiful, handcrafted log details throughout. The apt is a fully contained, separate lock-off part of the cabin & opens to a splendid view of Spoon Lake. YOUR ACCESS is down the left side of the house to the door facing the lake. You have NO ACCESS at the front door next to the green bench.

CONFIGURATION

ACCESS TO RENTAL UNIT- When you park on the driveway at garage level, it looks like a 2-story house, but around the left side of the house there is a 3rd lower level & private access to the VRBO rental apartment below. The entry door to the rental unit is facing the lake. Please DO NOT drive down the side or park below. You DON'T need to park in the public access on the garage side of the property but please park in driveway just off the asphalt so as not to block the garage or owner parking in front of the cabin.

LOWER FLOOR: THIS IS THE FLOOR YOU WILL BE RENTING. The stairway to the main house above is completely locked-off for your privacy. The apartment unit includes a cozy sitting area around gas rock fireplace (Queen sleeper sofa), full kitchen, full laundry, steam shower bathroom, 1 bedroom w/ Queen bed. The kitchen has a breakfast bar. There is a folding 'Moose' table if you wish to use a table for dining or games inside & there is a patio table w/ 4 chairs + a BBQ w/ propane provided. Feel free to use the red Adirondack chairs. Relax in a 2-person heart-shaped Nordic Hot Tub outside your bedroom window while enjoying the birds & lake view. You will have exclusive use of the hot tub during your rental period. You will have complete privacy, so enjoy 'Suits Optional' as desired. Bathrobes are provided for your use in the bedroom closet.

MIDDLE FLOOR: (OWNERS ONLY!) This is at garage level. Your access code will not work at this front door. GO down & around on the left side of the cabin. We may or may not be present during your stay. Just so you know the configuration, the main kitchen, living room, powder bathroom is located above the Lower Floor rental. We spend most of our time on the top floor except for dining. Parking immediately outside the front door is for owners only please.

TOP FLOOR: (OWNERS ONLY!) We may or may not be present during your stay.
Just so you know the configuration the entire top floor is the master bedroom, TV lounge & master bathroom & this is where we spend most of our time when guests are present except for cooking & dining.

WELCOME TO SPOON LAKE

Walk out the door to 2 kayaks or a canoe & listen to the loons sing their greetings on this quiet, serene mountain-surrounded lake. Most summers, we love watching rare mating pairs of loons that nest on the far side of the lake. If they are nesting the Fish, Wildlife & Parks set out white buoys along the far shore that asks you not to go within the space. There are only about 80 mating pairs in the entire state of Montana, so it is a treat to hear them. We occasionally see groups of 5-8 at a time. Bird lovers may also hear both Pileated Woodpeckers, Stellar Jays, Northern Flickers, Robins, Mallard Ducks, Canada Geese, & we have seen Trumpeter Swans on occasion in the spring or fall. Enjoy hummingbirds & keep an eye out for those Bald Eagles & Osprey that often battle each other in the skies over the lake. Seeing them dive or swoop down into the water for a fish is an exhilarating thrill. We have seen muskrats, a few beaver sightings & once a moose cow & her calf strolled the shore to the right & swam from point to point and then the far side brushy area to the left.

We are adjacent to Glacier National Park & surrounded by the Flathead National Forest. Always be vigilant for other wild animals like bear, mountain lions, coyotes, wolves, moose & deer at all times. We recommend you hike w/ Bear Spray. We DO NOT guarantee any of the leftover cannisters you may find in the bathroom top shelf, if any. It can be rented in Apgar inside the park or at the airport and other outlets. They are not allowed on airplanes.

If timing is right, huckleberries may be found on the property or nearby woods. If you're lucky, Jo may provide you w/ some fresh huckleberry muffins or the like. Enjoy the BBQ & outdoor eating options overlooking the lake. If you prefer, please enjoy eating at the picnic table & play badminton if the net is up in the 'meadow'. Enjoy a refreshing swim off the private floating dock. PLEASE NO DIVING because it's too shallow!!! The barge w/ the trolling motor is for the OWNERS ONLY. Spoon Lake features glacier-fed, underground springs gurgling up in the far, left end of the lake, easily explored w/ the kayaks or canoe,

When you are ready to explore the vast million-acre Glacier National Park you are only 20 minutes from the West Glacier gate. Take the shortcut across Blankenship Bridge where the legendary North Fork & Middle Fork of the Flathead River meet. Explore some of Montana's finest fishing holes & whitewater rivers, or hike Glacier Park's magnificent peaks, waterfalls & glacial valleys in God's Country. Historic Polebridge is 29 miles up the North Fork Road (Hwy 486) past Lake Drive which is also the gateway to the North Fork GNP entry. You can also access GNP at the Camas Road entry halfway up to Polebridge which is a backdoor entrance to Apgar Village. The full spring opening & fall closing of the Going to the Sun Road (GTTSR) varies every year depending on the park service maintenance crews snow clearing efforts.

Some kind of park pass is required to enter any part of GNP, but as of the summer of 2025, the GNP vehicle reservation system is also in effect at park entrances at West Glacier on the west side of Going to the Sun Road, at Polebridge & Many Glacier. This year only a park pass without the additional entry RSVP is needed to enter Going to the Sun Road at St Mary's on the east side and at Two Medicine. VERY IMPORTANT you visit the GNP website for reservation details to access the park & view road conditions. You MUST HAVE BOTH a park pass PLUS a vehicle reservation to enter the park where noted. As you will read, there are other ways to secure access if you reserve a campground, reserve a boat trip or horseback ride, rent a boat or kayak, etc. PLEASE REVIEW CAREFULLY.

We also HIGHLY recommend that you reserve a vehicle rental in advance. If you can't find a rental at the airport various auto dealers may be leasing cars & the Turo.com website offering privately rented vehicles to fill the void.

Explore trendy Whitefish boutiques & restaurants, the Whitefish Lake Lodge Resort Marina, providing watercraft rentals of all kinds PLUS the lakefront Tiki Bar & Grill, & the Whitefish Resort at Big Mountain for summer gondola rides & mountain biking w/ spectacular 360-degree views as your reward. Bigfork art galleries, summer playhouse or Flathead Lake activities are only 30 minutes south. Some of our guests have hired fishing guides on Flathead Lake & it's a beautiful drive around Flathead Lake especially during cherry picking season in July. For the 2023 season, in addition to your park pass, you will need a vehicle registration ticket in order to be able to enter the park between the hours of 6am and 3pm. Please check out the Glacier National Park website for more details and instructions on how to obtain the vehicle registration ticket. The dates the ticket entry system is in effect are as follows:

May 26 through September 10 - reservations are required for Going-to-the-Sun Road westside entrances and the North Fork from 6 am to 3 pm.

July 1 through September 10 -reservations are required for east side entrances including Many Glacier, Two Medicine, and Going-to-the-Sun Road from Rising Sun from 6 am to 3 pm.

Note: Owners' horses reside in a paddock on a small section of the 40 acres (accessible through a separate, gated entrance. From time to time, Owners may need to care for horses, but such visits will be discreet and, in no way, will invade your privacy. Please do not feed or pet the horses as they can be nippy at times.

The Cedar Room, located on the first floor immediately inside the front door, lends itself to occasional interactions with family members. Some guests prefer privacy and we respect their space, others come out to the porch and join in conversations.

Cedar Room guests also have access to a sitting/coffee bar room just adjacent to their room. There is a sofa, table & chairs, small fridge, microwave, fresh mountain water, basic kitchen amenities and lots of coffee and tea.

This room is not suitable for children or infants.

You may hear the chatter from the kitchen as you relax and take in the views of Glacier National Park and the Whitefish Range Mountains.

We are about a 1/2 mile from a train track and this is one of our favorite parts about life in the country. However, we know not everyone feels as we do. With windows closed and AC on, it will be a non-issue in terms of quiet rest. If you love the fresh air at night and prefer your windows open, you'll enjoy the rumble and horns of the occasional passing train.

We also have a charming golden retriever Lilly who will mind her own business but may greet you when you arrive (or if you have food)!

The space
Our home is unique! Half shop, half house, AKA The Shouse:-) The guest suite is on the first level and completely private and separate from our second floor living area. Often we do not even see our guests!

The space is exactly as pictured and absolutely perfect for the budget traveler looking for a basic but beautiful home base. We make a point to keep our quality of standard high and our cleaning fee low.

You have a private entrance, queen bed, closet space, full private bathroom, mini fridge, microwave, and coffee available. Bar stools are provided to offer another sitting area for meals. Community bear spray is also provided, we suggest you never hike without it.

We have 10 acres, a small garden, no children, and a cat Kahn(who is not permitted in the guest area). We offer an outdoor sitting area with patio chairs and hammock swings (when the weather is right) to enjoy the majestic Mountain View’s, including a community hot tub area!

We are on a well and septic system so special considerations are requested and are outlined upon arrival. Don't worry, it's simple stuff :-)

While cell reception isn't always great, WiFi is available. Our gravel road provides the most AMAZING sunset walk! Plenty of wildlife all around.

Please do your research on Glacier National Park access for the 2025 season. A new ticketed entry system has been implemented. If you are unable to secure a ticket, you CAN still enter the park before 6AM or after 4PM without a ticket. We always suggest brining bear spray for hiking. We have provided one canister as a courtesy for our guests. Please be sure to replace it in the rare situation it has to be used.

Come to Glacier National Park(17 miles)or come skiing at Whitefish Ski Resort(20 Miles away)This room holds two queen beds. This is a newer home that is waiting for guests. You will enter through the garage into the home and the stairs are immediately to your left. This room is above the garage so you can feel away from the rest of the home. There is a microwave & coffee pot & small fridge in the room.

The space
Guests are free to use our family washer and dryer at night with prior communication with the host (24 hour notice preferred - we are a large family and don’t want to disappoint you during your stay). There is an iron and board in the laundry if needed. We do have 2 non-shedding dogs in the main portion of the home. Only 1 small non-shedding dog will be allowed due to allergies.

You are able to use the room and the fridge in the garage if you need larger refrigeration space other than what’s provided in the room.

On The N Fork Rd 10 miles from GNP and Columbia Falls, between Glacier Rim and Blankenship great for North Fork river running, hiking, biking, fishing, trips to Polebridge ( 25 miles), Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. Sleeps 2 max, no kids and no pets, use inn half bath for toilet. Shower and water for grey water uses in camper. Separate entrance to small remodeled bedroom with great view of our backyard garden, creek, and pond. Bedroom has a queen-sized bed. Rental includes small bathroom with shower and access to laundry. This clean and quirky space is the original cabin on the property and is attached to our family home.

The space
The bedroom and bathroom overlook the vegetable garden, little creek and pond, and forested hill behind the backyard. The bedroom is small but was recently remodeled and has wireless internet and usb charging outlets and non-cable TV with access to 20+ local stations. A DVD player is in the room too, if we are around you can check out our movies. There is a tiny fan for summer (usually nights are cool) and electric heat for winter.
We occasionally use the laundry room but we try to be quiet. Guest may also use laundry.
We do have a wonderful yard for birding, our house bird list is long and still growing !! So please enjoy it with us.
We also have many other fun wildlife sightings near the pond including otters, muskrat, deer etc.

Guest access
Guests may access the rental bedroom, rental bathroom, and shared laundry room as well as the backyard. Please make yourself at home in the backyard! The 3 dogs have access and you will meet them but they are very friendly.

During your stay
Both of us (Dan & Holly) work & play hard. We try to be available as much as we possibly can. We are also independent and informal people and hope you can enjoy our space even if we can't greet you personally. We try hard to respect guests privacy and if you have checked in without meeting us we will not knock on your door. Text or call Holly if we can help or you just want to say hi! We are often in the yard and that is a great place to catch us. Both of us love to share whatever information we have about this amazing part of Montana. We hope that our guests feel comfortable enjoying the space with us or on their own.

Other things to note
We have 3 dogs who live in the family space and yard but will not have access to the indoor rental space. They are all very friendly once introduced.

We have a flock of 2 geese and 5 ducks who often free-range in the backyard. They are friendly. If you have brought a pet, please let us know when you will access the backyard so we can put them away.

We live very near the train tracks and can hear the train when it passes the house. We have been told by former guests that the guest space is quiet even with the sounds of the train.
